Last one nearly full so thought I would start a new one - new thread, new trimester!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Families - who'd have 'em.

Poo - Actimel helps with the good bacteria in your bowel which helps the transit which stops your poo staying in your bowel too long and dehydrating. Hard poo which is difficult to pass is because its had all the fluid re absorbed. Hard poo which takes days to pass is due to slow Digestive transit. Have a look at the Bristol stool chart.

Food - guacamole is my current craving. With nacho crisp things.

Beer - I'd love a pint, of anything. My hubby watched that programme about alcohol affecting development and I am on a ban. Mmmm Stella. . . . .

Scans - excited to hear more news this week about the little wrigglers Grin

Mamas and papas sale - bought car seat and base, and got carry cot off eBay - ex display.

Hide the sausage - I'm up for it, and so is he, but it seems 12 weeks of nausia has resulted in me loosing orgasmic powers. As in my own, not his. So I can't see the point! It makes me so breathless!!

Just been looking at the stats....and to let jennimoo, lexyma, meanmrs, zombies know that your due dates are perfect timing.... My birthday is aug 25, the bestest time to have a birthday as you aaaalways get a summer bank holiday around it. I thank my mum often for planning it well! Although I was due on sep18 so there's hope for the majority of us!!

frogchops · 03/03/2013 22:40

Mental note to invest in actimel. I don't drink enough either, I suppose that could be contributing!!

Girraferama · 03/03/2013 22:42

Can I ask a question - particularly those scanning tomorrow - anyone not having the nuchal/down's testing done? I've re-read the leaflet and now thinking about not having it. My main reason is - if it came back high risk, would I want to risk miscarriage by having the tests. The NHS leaflet says 95% of those who have the test turn out to be clear. If I didn't have it I might worry unnecessarily, if I did I'd put the baby at risk.. Hubby on night shifts and couldn't help make decision.. His git feeling was to have it done but couldn't say what he'd want to do if it was high risk..,

Sorry for ramble! Feel like I'm the only one thinking of not having it?

kipsonline · 03/03/2013 22:43

Thanks everyone, your comments calmed me down sufficiently to come back home after a big teary stomp around the local streets! I agree I need to get the problem out in the open. It's hard as she is a bit of a bully, but with passive aggressive tendencies, so quite hard to confront. On the good side, it has made DH a bit more protective of me (and new baby) I think. He has agreed to ask a question along the lines you suggest tomorrow and see what response we get...

Good luck to everyone having scans tomorrow x

frogchops · 03/03/2013 22:47

I've thought this too, but then I know I'd worry throughout the whole pregnancy if I didn't. I figured that odds are that it will be fine, and altho I don't know what we will do if it comes back high, I do know that we will deal with it and do what's best at the time. My DP keeps telling me to stop stressing about what hasn't happened and might not!!

CheeseStrawCraving · 04/03/2013 00:38

Aaw kips, good on DH :-)

Girrafe would you be worried throughout the pg if ou didn't have it done? And would a positive result affect your decision about whether to have baby? We had it as we would want to be prepared for possible outcomes at birth, so no surprises and more planning time.

There are so many scary things aren't there....

On a food note, stopped off at Fleet services this eve on way back from lunch with friends in London specifically for a cheese and marmite panini from Starbucks. Amazeballs.

HettySunshine · 04/03/2013 06:35

Hey Giraffe, I'm not having the tests. We figured it would make no difference - we'd keep the baby whatever happens and not prepared to run the (very small) risk of miscarriage if we needed the big test so it would only make us worry. I'm pretty calm about my chances of anything being wrong so we're just going to relax and hope for the best.

Only 9 hours and 5 minutes to go! Grin

jennimoo · 04/03/2013 06:38

Good luck for scans today, hope you aren't kept waiting too long with a full bladder! ;)

I was dreaming about needing to wee last night as my bladder was so full...

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 04/03/2013 06:57

I didn't have the tests Giraffe. They weren't available when I had the other two, and it just felt like an extra added stress factor that I don't need. I would not have the other tests because of mc risk, so thought it was better not to have the test in the first place.

Had the most random Skype call ever yesterday! SIL text my hubby to see if we were free to Skype. Guess what? They pulled out a (6week) scan photo! We hadn't told them about my pg yet so I promptly pulled out our scan pic (from 8 weeks) which was on the windowsill next to us & said snap! Cue shocked faces all round.

Both first babies, and first grandchild for MIL! What's even more amazing is that we'd both told our MIL in the last week or so & told her to keep it secret from the others....might explain why she was so hyper this weekend- that must have been a v.tough secret to keep! Funny tho :-)

Readytosettle · 04/03/2013 07:00

PS I'm hoping that SIL is on the October thread otherwise I've def just given the game away ;-)

andadietcoke · 04/03/2013 07:13

Ready that's lovely. Do you get on well? It'll be nice to go through it together. I don't know anyone else pg in real life!

Good luck to everyone having scans today Smile

frogchops · 04/03/2013 07:20

Ahh ready that's lovely altho if she is on this one shell know all about your poo, sex life etc wether u like it or not!Grin
That's the difference between others' and my SIL (have I mentioned her?!Grin) mine would be annoyed that it wasn't all about her and would just randomly start pushing so she was first. (She told me quite nastily a few years ago to back off having children until she'd had hers.) of course now she plays down any symptom I have because its not as bad as anything she's had. Being off work with horrible pain just meant that she text everyday to 'see if I wanted to go out for the day'. Cowbag.
So, the moral is, you're very lucky if its smiles all round! How lovely!

Girraferama · 04/03/2013 07:30

Thanks frog, hetty and mynameis that's really helped. Had text from DH last night once he'd thought about it and he said let's not and I think I'm relieved. I won't worry about that any more than anything else during pg but I know I couldn't go through with the test and risk miscarriage if it came back high risk so I figure it's less stressful not to know! The chances are very slim and though knowing would mean being prepared, it won't change the outcome.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Feeling strangely calm about the scan today! Roll on 1.50pm!

Readytosettle · 04/03/2013 07:48

Yes, we get on very well. Sadly they live about 4 hours away so we don't see them very often. It'll be a bit of a shame that we prob won't get to meet our respective niece/nephews until later down the line seeing as we'll both be busy with our own, but am def going to be on the lookout for matching Christmas outfits!!

badguider · 04/03/2013 08:41

Girraf - we're having the NT but if the risk is 'high' (1:150 in my area) then unless it is very very high I don't think i'll have the diagnostic tests as we wouldn't terminate anyway. If it is very very high (1:50 or more) then we might but only so we could prepare ourselves and our families to welcome a child with additional needs.

Everybody who's had a scan - how much did you drink before and how hard does the sonographer press with the probe? My letter says to drink a litre of fluid an hour before but I don't think I can hold that in right now, if the sonographer leans on my bladder with that much fluid in I will pee myself, and even if not i'll be in a LOT of pain trying to hold. Do you think that a glass or two of water half an hour before will be ok instead?

KamikazeeKid · 04/03/2013 08:44

I decided to whip out the Doppler this morning as heard heaetbeat at14 weeks with ds1....was not optimistic as I have a layer of fat this time round. ...and I heard the unmistakable fast whoom whoom whoom :-) quick little thing on the move so had to chase round

Big cheesey grin on my nauseated face this morning.

KamikazeeKid · 04/03/2013 08:46

I drank just less than a pint and scan was fine and not uncomfy with ds I drank the recommended amount was late being seen and it hurt to be scanned!! I ran to the loo!!

Readytosettle · 04/03/2013 09:04

My scan letter says that you don't need to drink water before you go..

andadietcoke · 04/03/2013 09:07

My recommendation was a pint but because I'd been drinking on and off all day that was quite painful and my bladder ended up being too full so was sent away to empty it!!

frogchops · 04/03/2013 10:33

So after being a bit smug that I haven't needed the crown, but just suffered the poo pain....today I realise things havnt happened for a while and maybe I'm about to experience both. Confused Any tips on geeing the poo up??

RunningBear78 · 04/03/2013 10:52

Good luck for scans today, anyone else got theirs tomorrow?

After making the fabulous discovery that if I keep eating then I don't feel sick, I've just made the slightly less fabulous discovery that I've put on 8kg in 4 weeks Shock. This seems to be about twice the recommended amount for T1 and only 2-4kg off the total expected weight by the end of 40 weeks! I'm a little concerned, but boldly hoping that going up two bra cup sizes in the same time accounts for some of the weight.

Oh, and on the bra front. Had a good chat with a lady in John Lewis who suggested buying normal non-underwired, not nursing bras for now. And expect to need new ones each trimester and probably totally different sized ones post birth.

jennimoo · 04/03/2013 10:58

Frogchops - if you can stomach it prune juice works well...

frogchops · 04/03/2013 11:14

I can't stomach it jenni Hmm have bought fruit smoothies but I know that's a bit if a cop out!Blush
