Ooh not usually a savoury scone person but that sounds tempting! I'm in Crediton kilkers so not a million miles away!

jennimoo · 03/03/2013 16:21

Thanks for sorting stats meanmrsmustard. Would have had a go but was enroute for a nap. Trying to drag myself out of bed now...

I fancy cheese scones too now! Haven't made them for ages.

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 03/03/2013 16:48

I have gone from not really believing I am pg, to spending an hour looking at cloth nappy sites. Help - I am getting so excited; not sure I can wait until September!

frogchops · 03/03/2013 17:51

The last of my cheese scones went today....replaced with a mountain of butter cake!!

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 03/03/2013 18:02

Oh my god worst poo ever, thought I was going to split open!!
Have started taking fibre supplement.
I can't do this again!!
And I kept thinking that childbirth must be ten times worse!
I will be screaming the hospital down for the epidural I think.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 03/03/2013 18:03

Sorry to have diverted the food discussion on to grosser things..

leeloo1 · 03/03/2013 18:12

Hi everyone, please can I join as well?

I've been lucking for weeks a while, but didn't want to jinx myself after a traumatic mmc last year. I'm feeling more confident now as I had my scan on Weds, but baby was sitting in the wrong position, so they couldn't do the nuchal measurement and I have to go back next week to get it redone by a consultant (poor me having to have another scan! Grin).

Baby had a strong heartbeat, was 'waving' loads and measured bang on for dates though, so fingers x'd its all good.

I'm 12+2 and dd is 13/9/13 btw.

slowblonde · 03/03/2013 18:17

Girraferama - not sure of exact name but will keep a look out. They came in pack of 4 330ml bottles with bottle tops like beer if thats any help!

Telling work tomorrow after telling my boss on fri. Will be good to share the news.

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 03/03/2013 18:53

Hi leeloo

I must stop looking at maternity clothes, I'm sure I've got enough in the loft. I'm obsessed!

kipsonline · 03/03/2013 19:07

Argh, need to rant/ cry.... In laws staying this w/e, DH had told them our news over the phone straight after scan but this is the first chance we have had to meet since. They have been here since lunchtime and the new baby has not been referred to once . I went so far as to thrust the scan pic into my MILs hand before tea and she just said 'oh, right' and put it straight down. I feel like I have been thumped in the stomach, I am so so angry and emotional, I have has to leave the house to get some air. DC3 was unplanned and it has taken DH the 1st trimester to get his head around it and his parents clearly disapprove (because they assumed we were done at 2? 2 is 'normal'? who knows why?) but the fact is that we are raising 2 wonderful little boys already and this baby will be just as loved and cherished and adored and the thought that one of our closest relatives could be so cold has literally almost broken my heart on the little bean's behalf. Sorry, rant over, deep breaths, calm, I really do need to go back and face them soon.....

Girraferama · 03/03/2013 19:14

Oh wow kips that's awful - I'm so sorry. It's unbelievable that anyone thinks they have a right to judge or disapprove in something so major - let alone be so downright blatant about it!

Is there any sense in just confronting them about it? You can't spend the next 6 months like this, or even the rest of their visit!!

The bottom line is that this is your child and you will love and cherish it and no one can take that away from you. I'm sure that once it arrives they will love it the same as your two boys (though that doesn't excuse their behaviour!)

Sending you big hugs Thanks

jennimoo · 03/03/2013 19:30

I have no plans to have more than 2, but I can't believe anyone would act like that kips! I think you're right to be mad, and hope you feel better soon :( (and that they aren't staying long!)

frogchops · 03/03/2013 19:57

I cannot believe that kips! I think I'd hve to nip it in the bud and ask what the issue is? Or at least speak with DP about it. You don't need this stress right now!

Creamtea1 · 03/03/2013 20:29

kips I agree with frog - get dh's take on it first and then decide whether to bring it up with them. I'm expecting 3rd after 2 boys as well and this whole 'why?' attitude to the third, like it's wierd to have more than the normal 2 is really starting to annoy me. I've had 2 family members also not even congratulate us, infact not even acknowledge the news. So I do understand your frustration.

Also zombies I was totally chuckling at your poo post!! in my wisdom I can confirm that yes, childbirth is a bit worse than the mega-poo - but just think of it as practise!! Grin

JammyTummy · 03/03/2013 20:32

Zombies- not sure if you've seen my post a few days ago, but by chance I discovered Actimel (not the 0% fat ones)- they are superb for making you poo!

Kips- if I were in your shoes I'd say something to your MIL a lot the lines of 'sooooooo.... Aaaaaaare you excited??' And if you don't get the desired reaction you will have set it up nicely for you to be able to ask her what her problem is. She has no right to make you feel like crap your whole pregnancy then waltz in when the baby comes and assume its her god given right to spend 'granny time' with it. It's your baby first!

jemimahpuddleduck · 03/03/2013 20:43

kips that's awful I agree that you should try and find out what the problem is.

I'm also booked in for scan tomorrow at 9.45am got the day off work which will be nice.

Went to browse mamas and papas website today and ended up ordering cotbed wardrobe and changing unit as they had their sale on got the lot for £440 down from £600 think we will check out the mothercare sale tomorrow too.

Manoodledo · 03/03/2013 20:46

There are certainly comparisons between having a big poo and giving birth. Poor DS1 was nearly born in the toilet after I failed to know the difference between needing a poo and needing to push a baby out Blush!

kips that's awful! We are also having an unplanned third and my dad has barely mentioned it either. My mum declined to repeat to me what he'd said when she told him I was pregnant. Like you although it's a surprise we'll manage and it will be loved. I know my dad though, he loves kids and he'll be fine once it's here. Hope your MIL is the same. At least on my dad's part I think he's worried for me, that we've made some kind of mistake and it'll make my life harder, and I'll never get back to work. He told me the other day he's worried I'll end up working in Tesco (no offence to anyone who works in Tesco, I've been there, done that!) I used to have a good job in publishing and now I do some freelance in my spare time(!), which I do consider to be a career of sorts. Anyway, I feel for you.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 03/03/2013 21:29

jammy (iPhone just spelt that as hammy but luckily I spotted it!) yes i did remember reading it. I was sitting on the pot remembering your post and cursing for not having bought some!!
TMI
I even thought I could try pulling it out. Twice.
Nada.
The agony!!
NOT looking forward to labour.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 03/03/2013 21:32

kips that's pretty miserable of her! Even if she isn't thrilled about you having three children (maybe she worries about you coping or maybe it just is something irrational) she could still drum up a little enthusiasm for her own grandchild.

badguider · 03/03/2013 21:52

hi everyone,
i'm back from my week's skiing. everything was ok - lots of naps required but i did manage to ski through to mid-afternoon each day.
no scary symptoms experienced and my usual level of pregnancy nausea and sore boobs are still there.
scan tomorrow at 1pm... eek!!!!!!
Was really looking forward to telling everybody once the scan is done but dh has 'just remembered' his mum's away till the 20th. He's convinced she'll freak if she's not joint first with my mum to know... but I don't think I can wait that long with a couple of my work clients who need to settle arrangements for september now, and my guide unit as i have to find and train some new leaders for after summer too.... aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrghhhhhhhh!!!!

frogchops · 03/03/2013 21:54

Zombies that really made me lol. I'm with you though, its not good pain at all! I dread going most of the time! So this actimel... How's it help??

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 03/03/2013 22:07

{{slinking away. The shame...}} Blush

Girraferama · 03/03/2013 22:12

Ooh there's a good few of us being scanned tomorrow! Exciting!! Going to bed now and hope I can sleep ok and not have weird scan dreams like last night!

CharlW1 · 03/03/2013 22:25

Just caught up with weekend posts after a lovely weekend seeing friends in Germany. Jammy is spot on with tmaking Actimal - no idea how it works but has helped me massively!

Kip that is such a horrible attitude from MIL - I can sympathise as mine is nearly as bad - when showing her the scan pic she told me not to felt too excited and not to tell anyone for as long as possible (I had a mmc last year) after being at the end of the first trimester I definitely want to start telling people - plus baby bump (plus a hula hoop 6 pack) won't let me keep it secret for long! honestly MILs!!

Good luck for those having scans tomorrow - look forward to catching up on everyone's lovely scan news Smile
