Last one nearly full so thought I would start a new one - new thread, new trimester!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Pinkbump3 · 24/02/2013 14:59

Manoo we are the same might be moving too but kids are pretty resilient so hopefully it doesn't phase them too much. X

Rosy that was a long time!! I was only for a couple of days and my back & tummy was agony! Can't imagine 8 days! Lol

Manoodledo · 24/02/2013 15:36

Pink, glad we're not the only one's crazy enough to think of doing such stressful things at the same time!

amiready · 24/02/2013 15:53

Does anyone know when the exhaustion ends?!

Have caught a cold and have been looking after my nephews and niece for the last couple of days visiting my sis - and now am so shattered I can barely get out of bed. Just want my old energy back again! How on earth do people cope with having children already???!

First scan at 12+5 this Friday. Nervous as there has been no proof at all of any baby so far - no nausea, no real constipation, no other symptoms except tiredness, diarrhoea and twitchy eye! I can now well believe how people get to 16 weeks without knowing.

Also never picked up the heartbeat on the doppler at work. Have given up now as am finding it too depressing. Approaching Friday with quite a lot of trepidation.....

MeanMrsMustard · 24/02/2013 16:11

Amiready - I am 14 weeks this Tuesday and am still so tired. I've never been hugely energetic but this is ridiculous. I've had all week off for half term and spent a lot of it in bed or on the sofa and although i feel a bit rested, Im still bloody shattered. I'm actually scared of going back to work tomorrow! My sickness has pretty much eased and I no longer have to eat carbs non stop so I'm hoping that reintroducing salads, veg, fruit and lean proteins back into my diet will give me a bit of a boost. I have been told extream tiredness means I'm having a boy!
I'd also be interested from 2nd + time mums when this ends and how on earth they are coping right now...

I'm sure your scan will be fine. It is so nerve wracking waiting, and very little will change that sadly! I think dopplers are unreliable this early on, especially if you're not exactly sure what you're looking for!

Dorita75 · 24/02/2013 16:33

Zoon I hope you get an appointment soon, you just want to speed the waiting up as much as possible don?t you? Take care

Happy Birthday creamtea! Well done you on going for a meal, I?m on a meal promise from my birthday, to be enjoyed when I can enjoy food again!!

amiready my midwife told me they don?t agree with dopplers this early due to you not being able to hear anything, so don?t worry too much about that. Got my scan on Friday too, what time?s yours? 9.20am for me.

I?m not so tired but still feeling sick (I feel like that?s all I say, I?m boring myself now!) I just want it to stop!! Managed to eat tuna steak last night, was so lovely to vary from carbs though I?m back on them today. I normally love cooking but I can?t bear to be in the kitchen, the smell (which doesn?t actually exist except to my sensitive pregnancynose) makes me start retching. I just run in, make something quick and run out, or have DP make things for me. Can?t wait to enjoy cooking and eating again.

Call the midwife on tonight, then to bed, perfect Smile

Good luck tomorrow pink and mandoodle and anyone else with a scan

CharlW1 · 24/02/2013 17:29

Have had a lovely weekend in Cornwall seeing my parents but when I returned I had a letter from the hospital saying that I had anti bodies in my blood called anti-cw so now I am a nervous blubbing wreck. I am just crossing everything and hoping that everything is o.k with my scan on Thursday.

LexyMa · 24/02/2013 17:33

Oh FFS. I can hear DH on the phone now to his parents, and while he has told them not to pass it on to anyone ("no announcements or allusions on Facebook" - yeah, how well has that worked with ILs so far on this thread?!?) he has told them the due date is end of August when I wanted the generic due month to be given as September so as to stop all the 'you had that baby yet' crap that comes from about 37 weeks.

'ckinell I'm grumpy. :)

LexyMa · 24/02/2013 17:38

Charl, don't worry. That will mean a bit more testing through the pregnancy but the point is they now know of a risk area and can be ready to support you and the baby in exactly the right way should anything start going a bit wrong.

amiready · 24/02/2013 18:00

Thanks Mrs and Dorita.
Dorita, is it your first scan too or have you had one already? I am at 9.10am. Just hope all ok and we can tell the world. Good luck.

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 24/02/2013 18:03

Ooh Rosy 8 days? Yikes.

I had a diva strop yesterday. I'm full of cold so put some Olbas Oil on a tissue to put in my pillow, then thought I'd better check it was okay to use. Apparently it's not! So nothing I can use at all. I'm having another early night I think, can hardly function through cold and tiredness.

batfuttocks · 24/02/2013 18:17

Zoon are they repeating your bloods? One friend went from 1/125 to 1/1500 when bloods repeated as the hormone levels were rising slower. Apologies if you've explained already: cracking headache and not trawled back thru thread.

SGJ · 24/02/2013 18:20

redandyellow, there is a type of eucalyptus, put it on your pillow- thing that is about £8, sold in Waitrose or probably Mothercare, but it's suitable for babies under 3 months, which practically no medication ever is - SURELY something that a newborn can have would be suitable during pregnancy?? Website is www.4little1.com - good investment for future use anyway!
I went to bed at 11.30 last night, shattered from going to a graduation party, then got woken up at 1am when the rest of the party goers came home, then again at 3am and 5am with DD having nightmares, then up at 7.30am for church! Definitely an early night for me tonight and have much sympathy for all you other exhausted ladies!

Zoon · 24/02/2013 18:24

The bloods were fine. its my age , 37 and nt. I know the nt is dynamic and will be different at every scan bit they said combined with my age put me at high risk. it was 2.7. With ds it was 1.6. Could be because i am closer to the 14 wk cut off when they stop measuring nt.

CharlW1 · 24/02/2013 18:35

Thanks Lexy - that and my low platelets I hope they'll keep a close eye on me.

Good luck for anyone having scans this week!

frogchops · 24/02/2013 18:39

I definitely did not just have more vanilla cheesecake. And neither am I planning on a massive bar of milka. Definitely not.

jennimoo · 24/02/2013 18:48

In exhausted at the moment. If I don't nap when DD does I tend to doze off on the sofa around 4pm... Thankfully I only work 2 days, or I think I'd be needing to take a lunchtime power nap...

DD was poorly last week with high temp but didn't seem to be anything wrong otherwise, although she complained her tummy hurt. Yesterday and today I feel like I have also trapped wind with sharp pains and crampy feelings (thankfully nice and high...) so wondering if I now have yet another bug!

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 24/02/2013 19:31

amiready I have no symptoms either. Had some weird food things, went off a lot, that passed about a week ago. The odd stretching pain and that's it! I am counting down the days for my scan on the 6th March.

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 24/02/2013 19:33

Thanks SGJ we actually have some baby vapour rub stuff from DS, I might borrow it, surely that will be fine?

BinarySolo · 24/02/2013 19:40

I think olbas oil is actually ok to use. I did a lot of research into this last time I was pregnant as I pretty much use it for everything. Basically research into drugs suitable for use in pregnancy is tricky and expensive, so rather than test a lot of companies will take the cheap and safe option of saying its not suitable. I found loads of stuff online where doctors were saying they used it in their own pregnancy and a lot of anecdotal evidence from women that had use it.

I'm not sure I'd have got through the last trimester without it as I had terrible back ache and so would rub it into my back at night (it works a bit like deep heat). I also use it for headaches rather than pills.

BinarySolo · 24/02/2013 19:41

And if you wanted to be uber safe you could use baby olbas, which is basically a watered down version of the normal stuff.

Pinkbump3 · 24/02/2013 19:50

Thanks dorita! Manoo I def feel like I'm going mad lol x

Anyone feeling really emotional? This morning I blubbed my eyes out at ghost whisperer and it wasn't even sad! And I never cry at anything. Then tonight after the supermarket shop I tore the face off some ignorant woman who drove right into a parking space while dd3 was waiting while I opened the door and she shouts to me I should have signaled what I was doing?? Eh? needless to say she left with her tail between her legs while dp was rolling about with laughter at the other side of the car Blush and now sitting watching my super ex girlfriend and I burst out crying because she put a fire out! I feel like a hormonal mess!

Toptack · 24/02/2013 20:08

Zoon - sorry to hear your results but it does seem like your hospital are being v cautious... Your NT doesn't sound bad, especially if you are close to 14 weeks. I had mine measured at 13+1 and it was 2.3mm, Dr said they didn't see it as high risk until its over 3mm. I'm 38, will be 39 by the time baby is born, blood work was fine and they gave me a risk factor of 1:2750. Did the scan look at any of the other soft markers for Downs? Shame you can't get to the FMC, that's where I had mine done (cost £180) and they really were great. They will also do CVS on the spot if ness and get the results back to you in a couple of days. Maybe there's a private clinic near you that offers a similar service?

Fingers crossed you get some positive results soon.

WhizzsMum · 24/02/2013 20:33

My goodness, that was a lot to read and catch up on.

Pink and Manoo I am mad too, we are moving soon. I also moved half way through my last pg but it was a renovation project and was still a buildign site when DD arrived. This time we have a fairly new ex showhome so nothing needs doing and the garden is already landscaped Smile

frog and kilkers I haven't even got a scan date yet, so I may be scan buddies with either of you.

Has anyone been prescribed lactulose? I've been offered it but not accepted yet as I was hoping things would resolve themselves Sad

ION my tummy is massive!! Oh and I haven't told DD (4yr old) about pg yet, although I can't wait to see her reaction, I think it will be a good one.

LexyMa · 24/02/2013 20:37

... DS just gave me a hug before going for bedtime story with DH. He said 'thank you for the baby, mummy. Keep making the baby for us.'

Manoodledo · 24/02/2013 20:47

Aww Lexy, that is soooo sweet.
