Shro I'm with you on the tiredness and finger subluxion. Also got really bad brain fog and the beginnings of either SPD or siatica, I can never remember which is which. My plans for birth mainly involve avoiding pethedine, forceps, stirrups and epidural. And also hoping that my waters won't break before labour this time as I've heard they have got stricter about induction when that happens.

persuasion glad your little one is growing.

elliejjtiny · 06/03/2013 13:15

Forgot to add 22+5 (and still puking, more than usual today because I had tea late yesterday)

dinkystinky · 06/03/2013 13:46

Ouch Schro and Ellie - your finger subluxion, shoulder subluxion and SPD Sciatica issues sound really painful. Hope the GP can help you Schro and Ellie - is the pain in the bum travelling down the leg? If so, that's most likely sciatica. If more general in that area could be SPD.

Persuasion, glad you had a good growth scan and baby is growing nicely.

Persuasion good to hear that they will be proactive on the growth scan at 28 weeks. Some of the more experienced ladies may be able to offer a little more insight.

MrsRoss26 · 06/03/2013 16:58

scan was brilliant today Grin I was very lucky and have both an antenatal unit with separate screen for your viewing pleasure and very lovely sonographer who explained absolutely everything. All's well and baby looks great. No gender news, but I asked not to, so I'm very happy. Check back in with you all later, I hope everyone else had great days & scans.

Hai1988 · 06/03/2013 17:35

Thats great mrs glad you had a good scan today :)

elliejjtiny · 06/03/2013 18:16

dinky the pain is under my bump, in the front of my pelvis and gets worse when I walk or bend, which with 3 dcs I have to do a lot. Had it with DS3 near the end but this time it's started a lot earlier.

Gingerpanther27 · 06/03/2013 18:46

Glad theres been good scans :)
Would it be safe to eat a tin of retried beans that are a few months out of date?

Hai1988 · 06/03/2013 18:54

I wudnt risk eating anything out of date atm ginger

Gingerpanther27 · 06/03/2013 18:56

Thanks hai Wasn't sure because everyone says tinned food lasts longer than the given date

Persuasion · 06/03/2013 19:08

ellie that sounds more like SPD, sciatic pain usually is from your back down your leg. I don't have any more knowledge than that though I'm afraid.

ginger I agree with Hai, it's probably not worth the risk if it's out of date.

Thanks for the reassurance guys, it's so helpful to be able to come here and talk about worries!

Devilforasideboard · 06/03/2013 19:38

I'm absolutely knackered tonight but just had to pop on to thank everyone who recommended the E45 bath oil - it's amazing!

PhieEl06 · 06/03/2013 19:50

Just catching up with the last 24 hours, thank you for all your care regarding my disappointing scan, in a better more thoughtful mood today & on a plus I have booked a private gender scan for tomorrow at half 12 so I am excited for that. Smile

MrsRoss & Ama I am going to see if I can put a complaint in when I next see my midwife, I understand the medical reasons for these scans but I left feeling distraught & not at all reassured, I definitely don't feel like everything is okay.

Persuasion just me, OH & sonographer in the room, she was I'd say mid-forties but just seemed very agitated, quite snobby too, I got the typical "young 18 year old teen mother" look & the impression that she just didn't want to be there/couldn't wait to get home (must of been her last appointment of the day). We did get to see the screen luckily, but she did spend a good few minutes pointing out that the black mass in the corner of the screen was my bladder, I felt like saying its not my organs we need to be looking at here.

Developed a addiction craving for ice lollies, this surely can't be healthy but oh my they are tasty!!

20+4

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 06/03/2013 20:39

Hey everyone.

Persuasion Glad you're feeling a bit more relaxed, unfortunately I have no advice to give though. :(

Mrs Great news on the happy scan!

Ellie That sounds like SPD/PGP, I had it from the beginning with DS, try and get to physio and get a support belt even though they are a bit shit. Definitely try and avoid stirrups, especially if you now have SPD. :( I had every one of those options you are trying to avoid apart from pethidene with DS. This time I am having a homebirth to avoid anything like that happening again as I am still recovering, apparently the water is the best option for us EDSers.

GP couldn't find anything out of the ordinary that would be causing the headaches and has told me to go to the optician to rule out pressure behind the eye? Apparently I do have a UTI though and am now on anti-biotics.

Went out afterwards and spent some of my gift cards I have from Xmas on new make up for the now utterly crap skin and a red herring maternity vest top and maternity spanx!

I also found a bargain in the charity shop, a brown leather Mulberry purse for £1.99! Shock

AmaDablam · 06/03/2013 20:41

Glad you had a good scan MrsRoss and that you are feeling a bit better about things today Phie. Good that you plan to complain though - too right they should be telling you about the baby's organs and not your own! Good luck with the private one tomorrow.

Glad the E45 bath stuff helped Devils (it was me and someone else that recommended it - sorry can't remember who). I do sound like a walking advertisment for the stuff sometimes but it really is great!

Another top tip discovered today - for anyone who is more generously endowed, Debenhams has a MUCH better selection of pregnancy and nursing bras (and non-wired bras in general) than M & S. They also have a sale on them at the moment too, which is good news whatever size you are Smile. Found a copy of What to Expect, the First Year in The Works for £3.99 too - a lunch break well spent!

Anyone else having trouble with the mumsnet website the last few days? It just took me three attempts to load this page, and it's not my broadband as the rest of the internet seems to be working fine...

20+3

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 06/03/2013 20:52

Ama Not good news for me! I went in to Debenhams today to get a strapless bra thinking I was a 32G, turns out that I am a 30HH! Their highest size in that style of bra was a 32H which did not fit at all.

Also having problems with the MN site, I suspect it's probably to do with all the maintenance to get rid of the spammers.

Gingerpanther27 · 06/03/2013 21:01

phie just to point out that I'm 18 Grin

Persuasion · 06/03/2013 21:03

Sorry phie, I must have got confused! She sounds horrible, I'd definitely pursue a complaint.

ama and schro i got some new bras at the weekend from debenhams, I'm 32GG now Shock but there was only one style I liked in that size, I've been thinking if they get any bigger than that I'll have to start getting them from the Internet!

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 06/03/2013 21:05

Persuasion Bravissimo sell them in that size and higher but they can be pretty expensive. They sell maternity and nursing bras and tops in that size too.

:)

BadMissM · 06/03/2013 21:09

Mrs Ross Difficult to give people the info they need without giving even more of my life away to nosey ex-employers....

How did the scan go??

CitizenOscar Congrats on having a boy!!!!

Ama Just want the work-related stuff out of the way before LO arrives...

Schro Damn well wish you could self-refer to physio yourself here! Haven't dared push the caffeine as I have so much other stuff against me.... dying for a proper coffee!

orangebubbles Congrats on good scan!

Persuasion Good news on scan!

Ellie with you on the SPD....owch! Sounds more like SPD than sciatica

Mrs Ross Yay for having a good scan today!!

Phie I'd go for a private scan too...I get the other look, the 'You're definitely old enough to know better' look!

Schro UTI can kick off bad headaches, as can fluctuating hormone levels... with DD my migraines were very bad...

Ama Ooh, might have to go to Debenhams then...

I'm also struggling with Mumsnet loading...

Had my scan today. Brilliant (male) sonographer, addressed all my concerns, explained everything in detail and showed us... then senior midwife did brilliant report for tribunal which told them ONLY what they needed to know!

It's a blue bump..... DD soooo excited!

PhieEl06 · 06/03/2013 21:10

Yay ginger, how exciting, I thought I was one of the only younger ones on here, thinking about it, it would be nice to get a list on the stats thread of our ages just for comparison. Smile

Cutandstick · 06/03/2013 21:11

Hi all, not caught up yet but having major dilemmas re maternity leave and need advice!
Was going to go at 32 weeks which isn't great financially but work is quite physical as class are young and 11 hour days. Have asked if I can do anything out of class / cover for a few weeks after 32 but not holding out much hope. DP thinks I should say I'll go late and go off sick if I find it too much. Am I just being soft going so early? Help! Confused

Gingerpanther27 · 06/03/2013 21:20

Just curious phie how old are you?

dinkystinky · 06/03/2013 21:30

Glad you had a long overdue good experience with the NHS today BadmissM - and congrats on the boy. Glad you had a good scan too MrsRoss.

Ellie - definitely sounds like SPD to me.

Ama, Schro, bra stop on line also good for large of boob and cheaper than other places.

Phie - hope you have a lovely scan tomorrow. I think we have the whole spectrum of ages on this thread.

Cut - only you can decide on when you go on mat leave. 32 weeks does sound early to me - but I have a desk based job. If you are finding it hard and tiring now, you will find it more so in late pregnancy. I really dont think saying you'll till 38 plus then signing off sick is a good idea as they would then be scrabbling for cover for you rather than planning it ahead of time. Would 34 or 35 weeks be a possibility? Be honest with yourself and dh as to what you think you could do.

OP posts:
Beginningofthejourney · 06/03/2013 21:40

cut I think I'm right in saying that if you go off sick from 36 weeks then they can make u start your mat leave rather than sick. I had a bit of a reality check when I started looking at mat leave, the last people to have mat leave at work got 12 weeks full paid before SML but it has since changed to 6 weeks @90% before SML :-( so gonna have to go back earlier than I planned!
