Persuasion I just assumed we had to put up with more discharge now. It's gross. I'm not sure what would constitute abnormal though?

TotallyEggFlipped · 05/03/2013 19:43

Persuasion I think I remember having a lot more discharge than 'normal' with DD. Watery, thin, odourless. I have a bit more this time too, but not as much as I remember from last time.

Also TMI, the last couple of days I've really noticed that I feel very 'full' and slightly uncomfortable 'down below', particularly when I've been standing for a while. I also think I'm getting piles Blush I kind of expected this sort of thing at some point, but not so soon! Please someone tell me I'm not the only one!!!

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 05/03/2013 19:49

Ohh discharge talk, the joys of being a woman! I remember have loads last time, I ended up wearing pantyliners constantly and going for about 3 showers a day because between that and the sweat and it being the middle of summer I felt rank. Blush

Totally I still have them from DS. Blush Try and get them under control now, get the anusol spray (the cream is really messy and disgusting) and get suppositories and take fibrogel. You will only regret it later if you start doing this too late.

MrsRoss26 · 05/03/2013 20:04

Phie that's awful - what a meanie. I wonder if there's any way of complaining (in a small way) to the department as this is surely also about providing reassurance to us, and not just a 'medical procedure'? Are our medical buffs able to provide any input on this?

Persuasion I am definitely getting more discharge (alarming the things we end up sharing, isn't it?) and I don't think it's abnormal. I can't remember why, but I'm sure it's ok.

To those worrying about how to cope with boys, I have lots of brothers, and they're all a bit sports mad. But then so were both of my parents, so we were brought up with it! My not being sports mad is more a response to that environment than being female, I'm sure, as I played my fair share of sports right into university.

Photographer - wow, it sounds like you're getting excellent care! How wonderful to be so looked after.

Mini so sorry to hear you're having to go through redundancy negotiations. Do you have a timescale for resolving things? I hope you're getting lots of support as well as the counselling, and enjoy all the weeny clothes buying in the meantime!

Dinky just wanted to offer my sympathy with your situation. Surely there must be more formal ways of dealing with all this while maintaining your privacy?

I couldn't sit still at work today as I have started getting a bit worked up about my scan tomorrow. Fingers crossed baby behaves please and I 'accidentally' see the gender! I really want not to find out, but feeling conflicted now the time is here.

CitizenOscar · 05/03/2013 20:15

Just caught up with today's posts, you chatty lot! Sorry not to mention everyone but so hard on my phone.

Phie- sorry you had such a disappointing scan today. It seems to vary do much.

We had our scan today & all is well as far as we can see Grin

And... We're having a boy! So that's two boys we'll have. Bit easier to get my head around as we've already got a boy but a bit sad we can't use our lovely girl's name!

Interestingly, the sonographer had a bit of a go at me for having such a full bladder (I'd come straight from work & hadn't had time to go to the loo). In the end she asked me to empty it in the hope it'd help the baby move into a better position to see his heart.

She took ages with us, explaining everything, and we're just so pleased all seems to be developing nicely. I was quite nervous beforehand!

dinkystinky · 05/03/2013 20:47

Congrats on the boy CitizenOscar. Phie - I am sorry your sonographer was such a killjoy (and grr at Ellies Dr too!): if possible check out local gender and 4d scans. We did one with ds1 when I was 34 weeks and it was amazing how much you could see.

MrsRoss - its BadmissM having problems with the nutjobs at the tribunal. Hope your scan goes well tomorrow.

Persuasion - extra discharge is a common pregnancy complaint. Nothing to worry about if watery and not smelly. If yellow or green or smelly speak to gp.

Totally - piles, ouch! Hope you manage to fend them off. Sounds like good advice from Schro.

Photographer - your new hospital sounds very thorough.

TotallyEggFlipped · 05/03/2013 21:32

We had a student sonographer at our first scan and a medical student at our second. It was great for us - we got careful scans with plenty of explanations. If you get asked if its ok to ave a student in the room, say yes!

AmaDablam · 05/03/2013 21:50

Congratulations on the good scan and boy news citizen. Sorry to hear about your disappointing experience Phie. I agree in a way with those that suggest going for a private one, which I would definitely be tempted to do in your position, but it seems so unfair when many of us have had good experiences with NHS ones. Perhaps a complaint is in order too?

Sorry to hear about your work related difficulties Mini and BadMiss*

Good luck tomorrow MrsRoss!

OK, onto the "TMI" subjects...

Totally I had an issue with piles a few weeks ago (complete with bleeding bottom whenever I went for a poo - cue lots of panic until I realised where it was coming from!). I can highly recommend Preparation H cream - cleared them up completely within a week. I've also been having prunes with my breakfast every morning which is keeping everything nice and soft and regular, which I'm convinced is keeping the problem from returning.

Persuasion and others mentioning discharge, I've noticed more than usual since very early days of pg, and it seems to have stepped up a notch in the past month or so. I've also started having a little bit of a problem with stress incontinence Blush, despite doing my pelvic floor exercises several times a day. I'm dealing with both issues by wearing a Tena Lady pantyliner during the day - tripped up a kerb today and I certainly was glad up had one on Blush!

VinegarDrinker · 05/03/2013 21:54

Oh, you all disappeared off my threads I'm on list again, very annoying.

My back pain has got 100% worse over the last few days, struggling to move at all without pain, not great when you have a physical job and a toddler. I am still cycling as it hurts a lot less than walking does, but really worried I might have to give it up. This would cost nearly £10/day in public transport costs, as well as almost guaranteeing I'll pile on yet more weight and also double the length of my commute, so feeling very glum about the possibility.

Going to try and get a GP appointment asap to get a physio referral. Wearing my support belt from last time which helps a little but still in tons of pain :(

Sorry to just come on and moan! And apologies for lack of personals. Oh yes, and I agree with everyone who says boys rock! Mine is not at all the stereotypical boy, much more quiet and cerebral (loves puzzles and books) and massively living, he tells me he loves me very much multiple times a day :)

23 weeks exactly today

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 05/03/2013 22:13

Vinegar Normally here you self refer to physio at the hospital you're booked at as it's different when you are pregnant.

Congrats on the boy Citizen :), they are pretty fun. Mines is addicted to anything pink a cries trying to get all the pink clothes when we're in the supermarket. Hmm

VinegarDrinker · 05/03/2013 22:15

Thanks, Schro. Apparently where I am booked (which isn't where I work, pros and cons to this!) you can self refer via the SPD class they hold but it's held on a work day for me, so I think getting to the GP is probably more feasible.

Thinkingof4 · 05/03/2013 22:16

vinegar can you access physio through your work? We have a thing here where there is open access physio once a week for nhs staff I suppose to try to reduce the time people potentially coils end up off sick. Might be worth enquiring through occ health.
Right I'm off to bed, past my bedtime!

Thinkingof4 · 05/03/2013 22:17

Sorry x post with schro!

VinegarDrinker · 05/03/2013 22:18

Good Q thinking, hadn't thought of asking our physios, can certainly give it a go. Need to see occy health anyway.

MarieKL · 05/03/2013 22:52

Thanks to everyone for the leggings advice. Gauvas I hope you managed to get some sleep last night.

Photographerlady it's great you got such excellent care from your new Trust. I have an thyroid problem too but all under control. Phie I echo everyone else. When your looking forward to something it's rotten how someone can ruin it just by their attitude. Sounds like considering a private scan is good advice though.

Mini sounds like you're feeling more positive. I hope the negotiations go okay.

Feeling really quite shattered tonight so off to bed, sorry to all those I've missed.

orangebubbles · 05/03/2013 23:33

persuasion had so much discharge around 15weeks I actually checked in with the mw, but she assured me it was perfectly normal! I don't remember it being so bad with DD.

vinegar sympathies, back pain is a shit! Are you doing any exercises? There are things you can do all the way through pregnancy to help, a good physio will point you in the right direction.

20week scan today, all is well and bean still dancing around like tigger on speed!!! I hope he calms down on the outside!!!

TotallyEggFlipped · 06/03/2013 06:38

Good luck with the scans today everyone. I hope you get plenty of opportunity to see your babies.

Persuasion · 06/03/2013 08:02

Thanks for the advice everyone, you've put my mind at rest! Fortunately I haven't got piles yet, despite still being constipated, no matter how many prunes I eat!

Phie sorry you're scan wasn't how you'd hoped, but at least everything is fine with baby. I wondered if one of them was a student, so they were shwoing the student the screen instead of showing you? I'd be quite irritated too, I know it's not the point of the scan, but it's so reassuring seeing baby wriggling around. My hospital has a second screen on the wall to make sure you can see.

I forgot to mention belly buttons yesterday. Mine has flattened a bit, and my scars from my (teenage rebellion) belly button piercing are migrating upwards Shock

Hai1988 · 06/03/2013 08:04

Morning all :)

Good luck.for your scan orange and anyone else whos having.one today, hope it all goes well and you find out what flavour if you want.to.know that is :)

All this talk so private scans got me.wanting a 4d scan so i got.out mr google to find a good deal near me, found that a hospital not far from me does a 20min private 4d scan and 8 colour pics and 8 black and white pics for £65 much better that the £100+ i have previously seen :)

So gonna book one for april when.ill.be 26+ weeks as its the only.time dh can get off now.

photographerlady · 06/03/2013 08:50

2/3 of my office has a meeting til mid afternoon.. so I am in work with nothing to do, time to baby shop I think online Grin

Good luck orangebubbles and MrsRose hope you have a good sonographer!

Hai1988 I have been eyeing up private scans too I am just on the fence as I am not a fan of those weird 3D ones :)

Phie sorry you had a disappointing scan.

SchroSawMargeryDaw I am sure we will all have our fair share of complaining come July if its warm out.

Persuasion in my pregnancy book there seems to be lots of talk about discharge in weeks 21-27 so I think its normal, as long as it doesn't turn to thrust. :/

dinkystinky · 06/03/2013 09:13

Loving the typo Photographer Grin

Vinegar - hope you manage to get to see a physio v v v soon. Back pain is truly awful at any time but in your line of work must be an absolute killer.

Glad you had a good scan Orangebubbles.

I am still going through coffee withdrawal dinkystinky :)

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 06/03/2013 10:28

Photographer No need for coffee withdrawal! My GP let me know when she confirmed the pg that the limit on caffeine as recommended by the NHS is 300mg a day, a regular cup of coffee has about 60-70mg a cup, a red bull is 72mg. :) I have chronic fatigue from the EDS and wouldn't be able to function if this wasn't the case!

I hope everyone who has scans today has a good scan! :)

I'm off to the GP in 10 minutes for an emergency appointment, I've been having headaches for a couple of weeks and they're killing me, I'm getting to breaking point as they're awful when I stand up and have a hyper toddler to run after who fell out of bed last night and spent half the night screaming. :(

For any ladies on here who have HMS/EDS, how are you coping? I have been fine until now but today my elbow subluxed, I've dislocated my pinky toe to the point it was pretty much upside down! And my shoulder has been badly subluxed every morning when I wake up. :(

Persuasion · 06/03/2013 11:59

photographer it's definitely not turning to thrust Shock (great typo!). Midwife also says it's normal, so nothing to worry about.

My growth scan was ok this morning, baby has grown but is still on the small side. And my dopplers were normal one side, high the other side and borderline when she averaged it out Confused so I have another scan at 28 weeks to check growth. No one seems to know what it means, if anything, and I'm feeling quite relaxed now I know she's grown about the right amount over the last 2 weeks. Sometimes I think we investigate too much, if I hadn't had the screening bloods I wouldn't have known, and would just have had a normal scan with nothing to worry about. Can't say I mind the extra chances to see baby though!

Good luck to others with scans today. schro how was the GP? X

iclaudius · 06/03/2013 12:09

Phie I feel sorry for you with your scan not being great . In my time I've had a few rubbish 'non event' ones and know how you feel.
My last baby had cord issues which I googled to educate myself and it seems in this states they scan and scan but when I mentioned actually scanning to measure cord length etc my consultant said outright no jot possible . She muttered maybe 4d so we might do that if I worry

I'm not a 4d fan and don't want to know the sex but of I were you phie I'd pay for a private scan
