Congratulations on scans photographer and ama and others. Have we heard from paolo since they went for their scan?
I have been given many jeans by friends who are finished with them- ihave discovered that one pair will be amazing (zara skinny), ( jojoskinny) and then i get bigger and they threaten to cut me in half if i sit down, so now am on to seraphine over bump ones which fall down and dd says gives me saggy bottom.at least over bump ones cover the bit of tummy that is between the non mat tops and the trouser bit!

princessllama · 04/03/2013 20:58

X post bad miss m, sounds like a real bu*r. Keep breathing, fingers crossed you can extract info you need.

MarieKL · 04/03/2013 23:02

So lovely to hear about the good scans today. We're team yellow but sometimes doubt that decision when I see all the lovely clothes in blue or pink! At least not knowing is saving me a fortune in impulse purchases! I agree a gender list on the stats thread is a good idea, though I still need to work out how to put in my due date!

Very impressed with everyone decorating, especially Shelly. I keep thinking about it but haven't quite got there yet.

tom hope you're all feeling better soon

Flat belly button, if only, mine is literally disappearing, in that it's going backwards and the top bit is extending over it. Happened last time as well so not too worried but it does look weird. More dust collection potential though Smile. It's the only bit that is disappearing though, bump is huge and whereas last time I was just moving into mat wear this time round I've been in mat wear for weeks already.

Badmiss sounds like an awlful day. I hope tomorrow is better.

Good luck for all those with scans tomorrow and I hope boiler issues are resolved soon.

Dinky looking forward to your tights report.

Phie am similing at you calling your OH your DH.

Loving hearing all the jeans recommendations. Does anyone have any good legging recommendations as well?

23 weeks today - yay

Guavasforbreakfast · 05/03/2013 01:16

Can't sleep! Thought I'd reply to Marie - best leggings by far for me are topshop. Very comfy wide stretchy waistband; wearing low at front and high at back gives a great shape under tighter dresses, hiding lumps but emphasising bump.

SundaySunshine · 05/03/2013 08:50

Hi all,
Lovely to hear of all the exciting scans, congratulations everyone on your girls and boys and surprises Smile.
I'm like you mightbe, taking a little time to get my head around having a boy. Not sure what to do with boys, as DC1 is girl. And I'd also picked a name for a girl but clueless for a boys name having gone off the one that DH chose. I know I'm being ridiculous btw, and I'm told boys are much easier!!

BadmissM sorry to hear you're so stressed, I can sympathise a little with your situation as my (ex) teacher DH had to go through a similar thing a while back. It was so draining and felt like the world was against us, but it did finally come to and end and when it did the relief was massive. There will be a light at the end of your tunnel too.

I've also got a belly button missing in action! No stretch marks to report so far but I can no longer see anything between my bump and big toes Grin

I'm also decorating today, painting the bathroom. I'm planning to get the whole house done before June, maybe wishful thinking on my part!

23+4 (I think)

MightBeMad · 05/03/2013 09:15

Leggings: Boden are brilliant! Not too see-through, stretchy enough to be comfy but stay up and keep their shape.

Good luck to today's scanees! Let us know how you get on.

Sunday, I tried to get over my shock with an impulse clothes buying session yesterday Grin I suspect much will go back but it gave me a boost and allowed me to feel like I was doing something bonding with my little boy. I admit I did shed a tear though at the realisation that dd1 will not have a little sister like I did (hadn't even realised that subconsciously when I'd been imagining her playing with a sibling I'd imagined two sisters, because that 's what I had). So draft, because she (and we) will benefit for all the lovely things that come with having a little brother. It's just I'm not quite so sure what those are yet because I have no personal experience to draw on. Lovely surprises in store I'm sure!! Grin

dinkystinky · 05/03/2013 09:26

Sunday - havent had a girl but my friends who have both tell me babies are pretty much the same, regardless of sex for the first few months. The one thing you'll soon get used to will be the whole willy waving around weeing thing - top tip, keep a muslin to hand at all nappy changes to cover that willy!

Ama - congrats on the little girl. Bet those sleep suits are very cute.

Mightbe - when I was pregnant with DS1 I was convinced he was a girl, because I was a girl baby and my dad's side of the family all seemed to have girl babies too. Totally irrational but just what I thought. But you know what, when that little baby comes out, you DH and your DD will adore him and have so much fun with him and all your daydreams of two DDs playing will be long forgotten.

Marie - I'm in topshop leggings today - good if you have a big bump. Also have some Isabella Oliver ones and Seraphine ones I got in a sale which are good (and have lasted a couple of pregnancies with no bobbling/thinning). Though have heard good things of Boden too.

BadMissM - your tribunal sounds insane. I would simply send them a letter enclosing a copy of your maternity notes for the time being (which should note the pregnancy, the PGP etc) and say that your consultant is on holiday but when back you will make an appointment to send the report. If you can get to see your usual GP and they will support with a letter so much the better. But the fact is you are pregnant, the notes show your due date and note your PGP.

Morning all, good luck to all with scans today!
Mine isn't till 4 so right now I cannot keep still I am that excited, can't wait to hear how everyone is getting on!
Have a nice day all! Grin

Good luck orangebubbles and CitizenOscar - and anyone else having scans or appointments today.

elliejjtiny · 05/03/2013 11:17

Good luck to all the ladies having scans today. I remember feeling quite overwhelmed when I found out DS1 was a boy as I've got 2 younger sisters and mostly girl cousins. It didn't help that people kept shaking their heads in pity at me and said that I wouldn't be allowed to watch casualty and strictly come dancing anymore because it would be sport on the tv all the time. When I started going to baby groups I was surprised at how similar the boys and girls were. One baby girl did one of those poos that need an entire change of outfit and I was surprised as I didn't think a baby girl would do something so unladylike Grin.

I'm so pleased I've got 3 boys now and honestly don't mind what this one is. I've got a niece now and quite looking forward to being "cool auntie ellie" when she is a teenager, which lets face it is pretty much garanteed when I will have 3/4 teenage boys plus all their friends hanging around the house. Don't think my sister will be too happy though Grin. Oh and DH and I take it in turns to control the tv remote, just like before.

iclaudius · 05/03/2013 11:29

Thinkingof4 I do have one girl!

Boy worriers please don't!! Not all boys are loud rowdy flighty types - I feel almost jealous of you who are getting one unexpectedly as u would put money on the fact that in five months plus you will be back on here feeling utterly overwhelmed with love for your little bundle of boy!!

I've never found the willy weeing thing either infact nappy changes are easier with boys in my experience - nice and simple ;)

Boys clothes however are rubbish!!

Thanks for the tips on jeans - gah spent hours online last night googling them to no avail. I am fussy only liking under bump skinny and long leg - new look ended up looking hopeful which was good after Isabella Oliver prices but new look were out of stock of everything !

Finding it hard being so far behind some of you - only 19+ here although am deffo getting baby early! NO loss of belly button here infact the converse is true. Accumulating fat everywhere means I have a big deep one ! Ewww not liking it. Have finally hit ten stone which is my target weight for twenty weeks - it's been a battle tbh to keep it that low - I'm quite tall so that's not as bad as it sounds!

Soooo tired and breathless - convinced I'm anaemic and find a small amount of housework has me sitting down - no fun and not easy with my life and stationary baby. Talking of the latter - taking him to see a play specialist today to try to get him moving!!!

Sorry not to name check but on moby.

Having said that - badmissm I'm getting into a kitty pickle about my scan which is the latest ever at 21.5 weeks - I'm pAnicking something's wrong snd keep visualising conditions despite early tests etc but am wondering if early tests have made us more panicky??? Xx anyway!!

dinkystinky · 05/03/2013 11:39

Ellie - DS2 is 4 and very different to his big brother. He loves dancing, pink and purple, sparkly things, fashion and dressing up, Hello Kitty and animals. His big brother loves moshi monsters, angry birds, star wars, football, drama and karate. Its wonderful how different they are.

OP posts:
BadMissM · 05/03/2013 11:49

iclaudius I wondered that, if because had had early scans and tests, was now panicking supidly for no reason as haven't had a scan for a few weeks? Mine at 20+3, and waiting for this has been hell!!

MiniPenguinMaker · 05/03/2013 11:51

Hi ladies, I'm just terrible at keeping up with all the chat on here!

Got made redundant but am currently negotiating. :-/ it's stressful but kind of ok. I've been referred to this wonderful counselling service specifically for pregnant women and it's been amazing and really helped.

I'm nearly 21 weeks now and have my scan to look forward to on Saturday morning. Convinced it is a boy - I will be so surprised if it isn't!

Lots of wiggling and kicking lately. At first I wondered what I was feeling, but now I'm definite that it's the little one...

And I bought my first bit of baby gear... I got a £20 voucher in the post from Brora, to spend on anything full-price over the weekend to celebrate their twentieth anniversary... so, got a little cashmere baby hat! Eeek!

20+6

BadMissM · 05/03/2013 11:53

Dinky Bit loath to send them copies of my full maternity notes, as copies also go to the opposition, and I really don't want certain people having access to my full medical history, from previous experience I don't trust them with any information pertaining to me, as they once let a confidential signed for letter with medical records go half the way round the county, opened for six months....

Am seeing pg diabetes consultant tomorrow, will ask him if he can do it instead....think will just make a note of what the report has to cover and ask him, or ask him to pass to medical secretaries...

Rang the Tribunal yesterday, and their clerk agreed timescale is ludicrous...

dinkystinky · 05/03/2013 13:25

Fair enough BadMissM - in which case get your pg diabetes consultant to see if they can help and just send the letter saying your ob consultant is on holiday and so you need an extension of time to get the reports to them (particularly as the request was received so late...)

Mini - nice to see you back on. So pleased you are getting good support from the counselling service. A lovely little Brora hat (with lots of money off) sounds like a lovely first purchase.

Huffpot - if you're lurking, am hoping you're ok and getting lots of support and that the induction this week goes as smoothly as it can. Sending you lots of hugs and support.

wow what a day of appointments. I think I am loving my new area more and more. I went in for a "booking" appointment today at the hospital. Seeing I only moved here 2 weeks ago and had a GP midwife appointment they wanted me to meet the hospital folk and get up to date.

So saw the midwife and then the obstetrician and then the endocrinologist for my thyroid. Ended up being three hours with a scheduled visit to someone to look at my back (I popped 2 discs about a year ago). So my DH thought we be home in an hour and ended up being an all day affair.

At least they really took time to describe things to us. Upped my thyroid medication and explained all the results and they they are doing it. They listened to the heartbeat and just keep asking "is there anything else you like checked". Seems like a really good place to be and we left feeling very happy about next lot in 8 weeks.

Hope the scans went well today ladies and everyone else got a bit of sunshine their way.

Hai1988 · 05/03/2013 16:06

Hope all the scans were good to the ladies who had them today.

Also good luck.to those having them soon.

Lil maddison has been very wriggling lately foun that on left side slightly on front with.leg tucked up makes her go crazy, unfortunatly.i found this out after dh went to sleep.

21+4

Thinkingof4 · 05/03/2013 16:48

Marie I'd recommend Boden leggings too, really nice quality, not see through and keep their shape well. I had some h&m ones and they didn't last, see through etc

I agree with Ellie, dinky and iclaudius boys are great and my 3 are all completely different personality wise. Only one seems particularly interested in sport so far, one very interested in books and one loves music, so all very different! I'm sure girls are all very different too and don't ever fit the stereotypical ideas we have of them!
The thing is each child is their own little person full of love and ideas and gender is less important than we might think (IMO)

badmissm goodness sounds atrocious, I really hope you get the supporting letter without too much difficulty.

Good luck today for all those having scans
And good luck huffpot with induction this week x

PhieEl06 · 05/03/2013 17:46

I hope everyone else had good scans today. Mine was, well disappointing, I'm sorry for being a whinger in advance, baby is fine, woman couldn't see what it was so we're now officially team yellow, but we were in there about 10 minutes, the sonographer didn't explain anything that she was looking for & my picture I paid three pounds for looks like a white smudge. & to top it off I'm a hormonal wreck who is distraught at the fact I don't know whether its pink or blue because I now feel completely unprepared.
I really hope everyone else who had scans today had a better experience & please feel free to tell me to man up & give me a virtual slap.

Guavasforbreakfast · 05/03/2013 17:57

Sorry you had a disappointing experience Phie, it seems to be the luck of the draw with sonographers. My 12 week one was a bit like yours, but 20 week was really lovely and she explained what she was looking at the whole time. Maybe get a private one if you want to find out the gender and get some nice keepsake pictures? My private 8 week one (reassurance as I'd had a mc the month before conceiving this one) was lovely, and they had a huge screen to show everything in detail (which wasn't much at 8 weeks anyway...).

elliejjtiny · 05/03/2013 18:10

Sorry that your scan experience wasn't great Phie. Most of the scans I've had have been lovely but I had one with DS2 that was awful. A dr did it, checking for heart problems and he refused to let me see the screen or tell me anything, when I asked he gave me a lecture about how it was a medical procedure and if I'd wanted to see the baby I should have had a private scan. Can you book a private scan to get some nice pictures and find out the gender? I'm having a 4d scan in April so I'll report back after and say whether it was good or not.

Hai1988 · 05/03/2013 18:23

Sorry phie that you.wernt.happy with ur experiance today :(

Although mine was okay am thinking of getting a private scan about 30 weeks just for a update and to double check shes a girl for sure, even if the sonagrapher seemed pritty 100%.

The kicks are getting bigger have felt a few from the outside a min ago but dh isnt here and when i called ds over by tje time he put his hand there she stopped :( tipical

Persuasion · 05/03/2013 18:28

Congratulations to those with scans yesterday, I'm looking forward to feedback from todays scanees! I have my follow up (23 week) scan tomorrow. I can definitely feel baby wiggling away in there, so I'm trying not to worry too much. I've also got a midwife appointment straight afterwards, then have to go to work, so it's going to be a busy day!

In terms of trousers, I have 2 pairs of straight leg underbump jeans from mothercare which I love, and are still really comfy. I'm still wearing my stretchiest non maternity leggings (H&M) and tights (boots), but I'm not sure how much longer they will last for. So I'm watching dinky's quest with interest to see what to get.

We also got our pram this weekend, a cosatto giggle. I think BB01 was asking about them? Ot seems great, really sturdy but easy to push. Obviously it hasn't been tried out properly yet, but so far I'm pretty impressed (and the colours are pretty me, shallow, never)

Also, I wanted to ask you ladies about discharge (TMI alert). -km getting lots of clear/white discharge, and sometimes it's quite watery. It doesn't smell especially bad, but doesn't smell sweet. Has anyone had anything like this? Is it normal? I'm going to check with the midwife tomorrow anyway, but wondered if it was a universal problem, or just me!?

Guavasforbreakfast · 05/03/2013 19:12

Shock at that dr ellie. How insensitive. Yes it's a medical check, but what's wrong with a glimpse at your unborn child?! Meanie.
