Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My colleagues refer to me as wearing an invisibility cloak, in so much as since I said I was pregnant I have been completely ignored. Tend to go in late, leave early and work at home on a Tuesday and Thursday despite not having much to do because no one will give me decent work because I won't be round to see it through. I reckon that with an arrangement like this I can keep going well into May. So maybe May 10th or 17th for me. Everything could change though next week when we move government departments. The new one makes us properly record our time and I worry I will have little to show for it, won't meet my targets and will probably be asked to leave sooner rather than later:-(

learnermummy · 05/03/2013 09:40

Morning all.
Got some paint at b&q over the weekend (crown is on offer) so will have to start painting soon. Trouble is we really only have evening unless we want two little 'helpers'. I'm too tired for evening jobs!
Sarah - very glad my boss doesn't look at my billing too closely, it's really dropped! There's plenty of work to do, just too tired or unmotivated! Oops! Think I'll finish May 16th, plus will have a week off at Easter just to use up leave!.

Hawkmoth · 05/03/2013 11:50

Oops! That's me signed off work for two weeks! Feet had been swelling up, but early! Plus exhaustion, headaches and bursting into tears at the GP. Rising levels of leukocytes in my urine means a water infection and strict orders to rest. Thankfully no burning symptoms etc but I'm hopeful that the antibiotics will make me feel less like the living dead.

Baby still going at it like a Morris dancing troupe though, just have to start taking a bit of responsibility for looking after myself as well. Hope it stays sunny so I can wander up and down the local canal.

learnermummy · 05/03/2013 11:54

Oh dear Hawkmoth, take it easy Brew.

MrsBri · 05/03/2013 11:58

Well, I'm off to the antenatal unit again as I have more bleeding. It's brown and mixed with CM (sorry if TMI!) so not fresh, but needs checking out. Typical as everything was fine at midwife yesterday!

Baby was a loon this morning, but typically has calmed down now, when I need him to move.

This is becoming a bit too regular for my liking!

Sunbeam18 · 05/03/2013 11:58

I'm finishing 10 May too, MrsBri! My due date is 18 June, how about you?
I'm shattered today - just want to sleep...
Xx

Sunbeam18 · 05/03/2013 11:59

Crossposted. Sorry to hear that - hope all is ok xx

learnermummy · 05/03/2013 12:02

I'm 19th June Sunbeam. Finishing May 16th I think, although tempting to go earlier!
Sorry to hear that MrsBri hope all OK.

MrsBri · 05/03/2013 12:10

20th June here, so very close. :-)

He's just kicked my belly button, so at least he's still active in there.

May finish earlier now though. The commute does me in!

forgetmenots · 05/03/2013 12:21

Good luck MrsBri, I'm sure all will be well. I'm finishing on the 10th too, due almost exactly a month later. Can't wait now... Getting so impatient!

learnermummy · 05/03/2013 12:30

How long's your commute MrsBri? I'm very lucky as I work from home, although it is very dull!

CollectorofCookbooks · 05/03/2013 12:51

Sorry for the silence all, life has been a little hectic. Suspect I am trying to cram too much in pre-arrival! Hope all of you are well, and recovering, and resting where applicable.

Had a bit of a scare last week, ended up going in to be checked. The community midwife was absolutely useless, in fact dismissive and rude - I've heard that from other mums locally, but hadn't expected her to be so off with me, it's not like I've ever bothered her before. So off we went, and Twin One had turned, back to front and inside out, the little monkey. But they were lovely. I won't bother with the CM in future, I'll just go straight to the hospital.

Nearly there with the spare room nursery, just need to order the buggy and car seats this weekend. A new twin friend of mine went into labour last night at 30 weeks, another two I've heard of at 32 weeks - making it all a bit real now. I'm 26 weeks and just want to meet them - although it's too early, I know! Work are being very flexible, but I'm hoping to go til 33 weeks - not least because I'm only in the office twice a week. But we shall see.

Should find out how much they each weigh at the 28 week scan. They were slightly below the 50th percentile at my 24 week scan, but they are growing well.

Need to write down my birth plan, such as it is. Given I can't have what I thought I'd have (water birth, active labour etc) it's about managing the risks to get as close to that as possible. Am feeling very positive about it overall thanks to NCT and TAMBA - both of which I've really enjoyed doing, as has DH.

Has anyone else's belly button popped? Mine is really stretched - feels like it would be easier if it turned inside out!

Sunbeam18 · 05/03/2013 12:56

Can your work offer you more flexibility to work from home, MrsBri? I'm working at home today, and have been about once a week recently. My commute is only 30 mins by car, but I've had so many workmen/surveyors etc in that I've had to work at home a fair bit recently. Roll on being settled and on mat leave!!

redwellybluewelly · 05/03/2013 13:33

Hope all is well MrsB and Hawkmoth

I'm officially a woman on the edge in terms of nesting, I've friday off and so will be home alone to attack the piles of stuff everywhere.

I think baby will arrive a week or so before my EDD so around the 6/7th june and I start maternity leave on the 31st May, however last day in the office will be 24th May. Working very reduced 9-4 three days a week throughout May though so hoping I will cope ok.

We need to paint baby's room a pale cream colour which DH will do after Easter and then try dd in her bed so cot can be ready for baby a few months later. All of downstairs utility/WC/hall and lobby need painting and storage building which we've had someone come and quote for but as yet no date to start work. Grrr.

Did my usual walk to work today and was surprised that I was late for work. Apparently I have started walking slower and slower without realising it. A colleague saw me but didn't recognise me cos I was walking so slowly. Strange - other than a tightening of the bump I don't feel like I've lost of energy.

I appear to have the opposite problem to some of you in trying to extract myself from work. Working for a very small company in a very specialised area is making it tricky to be able to hand over work without doing substantial training for others. Am sure it will work out but not planning on going on mat leave until 3 weeks before baby because a) I feel great and b) I have so much work to do before then i can't justify it.

MrsBri · 05/03/2013 13:42

My commute is about 80 or so mins door to door, so a pain in the arse. Think I'll have to ask for more flexible working now, as this is my second bleed in 3 weeks. Either that or finish really early. Which I don't want to do.

And my belly button is the same. Makes me a bit sick to look at, if I'm honest.

Just had an hour on the heart rate monitor. Baby was buggering about for a while and vanished, but got almost half an hour finally, which is what they wanted.

Midwife said it is good and we have a happy, active baby :-) Just waiting for another internal, to see that I'm still holding together!

SunnyL · 05/03/2013 13:55

MrsBri is that 80 mins in the morning and 80 mins in the evening?? Flipping heck. Thats rubbish. Actually even if it was 40 mins each way I'd probably be griping. Sheesh. Glad Babs was ok though.

MrsBri · 05/03/2013 14:04

It is Sunny, yes. Epic ball ache these days, I can tell you!

I'm next to be seen, so hopefully can go home soon. :-)

MrsBri · 05/03/2013 15:09

All fine. Apparently I have a raw spot on my cervix which could cause bleeding. Which I wasn't told last time.

I only have to go bad if blood is red or I have pain / loss of movement. Last time I was told to go back with any sign of blood, so they're clearly happy with me being a bleeder, ha ha!

MrsBri · 05/03/2013 15:10

Back, not bad!!

forgetmenots · 05/03/2013 15:14

Phew MrsBri! At least now you know. Feet up now :)

MrsBri · 05/03/2013 15:16

Yes, though I wouldn't have worried so much today if I'd been told that before!

learnermummy · 05/03/2013 15:26

Great news MrsBri Smile

Olimoss · 05/03/2013 15:57

I sympathise Mrs Bri - my commute is walk-bus-overground train-overland train-walk and absolute best case scenario is 1.5hrs door to door. Am mega-slow now am crutch-knee braced.

Glad to hear all ok and you've been seen.

Sarah2506 · 05/03/2013 16:28

Oil are you London? Whereabouts? I do barnet to Victoria which is walk train and then boris bike and walk. Again about 1hr 15, though I'm making it longer because I refuse to use the tube. And I like the walk. We are moving to Holborn next week which will save time. I think in excess of an hour is pretty standard for London though, hence my 2 days working at home.

Bri- you need to get the midwife on board. Get a letter stating that the state of your health is such that 5 office days a week are no longer appropriate and adjustments must be made as otherwise she will have to sign you off sick. Armed with that they are compelled to make adjustments or accept you will be off on sick pay prior to mat leave.
