Wriggles all round which is great Grin
I got my first pair of over the bump jeans from mothercare yesterday and I love them! No constant pulling them up or exposing anything or getting chilly! I am very tempted to go get another pair!!

Mrsbri I was looking forward to bump being measured at my 24 wk appt and then my MW said she'd not do it till my 28 wk one! And it's certainly grown in 2 weeks so I'd image by 28 I'll be mahoosive!!

Does anyone else find if they have been on their feet/walking/going up stairs that the bottom of your bump gets really tight? It can come and go for up to an hour can't say it's painful but is uncomfy and I certainly can feel it.
Also and this is probably way TMI but twice over the last few days when I've had one of my many wee stops there has been quite a bit of gunky mucous on the tissue - clearish/whiteish and not constant. Someone I know said it could be a tiny bit of my plug coming away?

Hope everyone's ok. x

MrsBri · 03/03/2013 12:30

Ah, we shall see what happens then, pinkbear...I've managed to put my wee pot in my work bag to provide a sample! So glamorous :-/

Must remember to ask for a free dental certificate too. I keep forgetting.

Re bump, yes, I get a stitch-like ache when I walk / stay on my feet too long. That's what I want the bump band for as hopefully it'll help.

I need to get some motivation to continue with my housework / proper work today. Sigh.

Not sure about the mucus thing though...maybe call your midwife tomorrow and ask, to be on the safe side.

Does anyone else still have the not wanting to bother the health professional mentality? I rarely go to the doctor, so feel weird having someone there who's said it is fine to call whenever, as I always feel like a burden! Need to snap out of that one, don't I?

pinkbear82 · 03/03/2013 13:45

Bump support! Knew there was something else to look at yesterday! I really should make a list!!

I'm the worlds worse at making a fuss. I waited a week with the onset of my kidney problems before making a fuss. Ended up in hospital for 8 days, MRI scan and several other tests followed. Hmm Only reason I even went to A&E in the end was my mum yelled at me that it wasn't now just me I was meant to be looking after! Felt incredibly guilty.
So yes I probably should call the MW might ask about the bump tightness too.

SunnyL · 03/03/2013 13:45

Went to church today and people realised I am pregnant - yay! This means I definately have a bump now and don't just look fat. Saw my sister last night for the first time in three weeks and the first thing she said was 'awwww you got your bump'. Sad isn't it? In three months time I'll be dead grumpy and want rid of the ginormous bump.

I just want trousers that aren't jeans or work trousers and Next seem to have the only ones I like so may persevere with the account thing. If they're crap though me and Next will be parting ways forever!

SunnyL · 03/03/2013 14:13

Arggggg Next are such tossbags. Have had to hack into my sisters Next account to make an order since they wouldn't accept my vouchers over the phone. Told me to go into the store to use them. Didn't seem to compute with them that maternity wear has about 3 items in store therefore I needed to buy them online.

MrsBri · 03/03/2013 14:16

Next don't give a shit about the maternity wear issue. It's rubbish. Not sure how hard it would be to have a couple of rails of essential basics.

I struggle every day with clothes shopping due to my height. Being a tall preggo is really the icing on the cake!

DontmindifIdo · 03/03/2013 15:24

Could you go into a next store and ask them to order them in for you? Not sure if they will do that, but worth asking if there's a store near your office...

MrsBri · 03/03/2013 16:24

I think they do order in store, Dontmind, but it's just a shame that there isn't an easy method really. Next like to make things awkward!

Quilty · 03/03/2013 16:39

Hello all, just discovered this thread!

I'm due 17th June with our first baby, all getting very exciting!

After really suffering badly until about 16 weeks with constant nausea/vomiting for pretty much all my waking hours, I'm actually quite enjoying this part of pregnancy!

Am also struggling with finding maternity jeans so I did a bit of improvisation today...
Put on normal jeans with a stretchy hair band holding the button and button hole together. Then got an old vest top and cut the top off, pulled this on over my jeans and bump - homemade bump band! Worked a treat and no more worrying about whether my top was covering up my undone flies haha!

pinkapples · 03/03/2013 17:39

Welcome quilty Grin

Well I'd like to say I've not stopped all weekend and spent a fortune! £2000 on a new bed and mattress to be fair it is the most amazing thing I've ever laid on! Delivered tomorrow so quick too then went and bought some baby clothes GrinGrin

On the other peoples money from My mum returned from my grandparents in Manchester armed with Moses basket and stand (courtesy of grandma) and a knitted jumper and baby grow from Malta as my aunty has just got back from there Grin also my grandad went a bit giddy in mamas and papas and bought a ridiculously expensive zeddy and parsnip bed set "cuz the bubbie needs it" Grin bless think everyone's a bit excited

Hawkmoth · 03/03/2013 18:12

Buying jeans and trousers is hard when pear shaped, impossible when pregnant as well. After a very disappointing trip to Asda today I'm kicking myself for not just buying three pairs of the pants that actually fit me when I went weeks ago. They had none in, and not on the website anymore either. Have had to get some under bump for now, and will eke out the lovely over bump pair for as long as possible. Spent fifty quid on tops from new look online, at least I can take them back to the shop if they're not right, and I have been treading a tightrope with my normal tops... Either showing my belly at the bottom or showing my still-expanding boobs at the top.

Did anyone else get anything from the Aldi event this week? I went at half eleven on Thursday and it was almost sold out. So I ended up grabbing what I'd picked, wrestling with DS and hurting myself pushing the loaded trolley up the stupid car park. It was supposed to be a day off! Particularly pleased with the four bottles for a tender by Avent. I'll be bf but will still need the odd one for if I get to leave the house. It felt seriously weird buying baby stuff again. Especially the high chair, but for nineteen quid I wasn't going to let it go. I binned our old one after one too many banana incidents.

cyclecamper · 03/03/2013 18:40

Hello Quilty, welcome.

My bump seems to have settled a bit today, which is a relief: the last few days it has felt as though I had a beachball stuck under my skin! Gladys seems to have moved around a bit and is much more comfortable for the moment. Let's hope it keeps that up! I haven't been looking forward to another 15 weeks of feeling how I've felt the last 4 days; although of course everyone keeps pointing out that it's going to get worse. Thanks chapsHmm.

Sarah2506 · 03/03/2013 19:16

Try John Lewis for non jeans non work trousers. I got some awesome cords from there and you can get delivered and indeed return to waitrose. Good weekend here. Walked 13 miles fairly easily which is a relief- I know this may sound crazy but we are mountaineers so 13 flat miles used to be a morning run not a whole day activity! It's kind of sad really; feel like I'm loosing lots of friends from our club. They were all off in the welsh mountains this weekend while we are walking in the local fields. I know life will change but will miss the adventures. DH has gained almost as much weight as me from not hauling himself up mountains of a weekend and instead sitting eating cake with me:-) Anyone started NCT yet, need to meet new people!

Top tip for today , if anyone wants a baby bjourn active carrier they are 64 quid on the John Lewis website right now, 95 in catalogue, 80 most other places. No idea why so cheap but def buy now I reckon!

learnermummy · 03/03/2013 19:38

I wouldn't rate baby bjorn carriers Sarah, they're not that great on your back. Highly recommend an ergo though, not brill for newborns but fab for 3/4m+. DH and I front carried my big ds1 til over 10m without any problems - perfect for mountaineering!

Littlemissexpecting · 03/03/2013 20:31

Welcome quilty!
Sarah we start nct this week. I'm strangely nervous but I don't think I'm nervous about the classes, more that it means we are getting closer to d day!! I have had an amazing day, DH got me a mum to be package at a day spa for my bday so went today and it was amazing!! Definitely recommend and a day of chilling, swimming, massage, facial is just what the dr ordered!

Quilty · 03/03/2013 22:38

Thanks for the welcomes!

We're not doing the NCT classes but I'm going to go to the home birth group in a sort of "thinking about it" kind of way.
Has anyone been to a NCT sale? There's one near me soon, are they any good?

Had first proper kicks tonight, kept making me jump! my bf could feel them too, so lovely!

maisiebeem · 03/03/2013 22:41

Hello quilty
Ooo littlemiss that sounds amazing. Might have to start hunting to dh, leave a few brochures lying around!
Collected our stokke sleepi today, when we got back and put it together realised there are a few parts missing....grrrr! Have looked and can't seem to find anywhere that sells replacement parts. It goes together without them, just not as stable as it should be!
SarahWe are starting Nct course first week in April, volunteered at the baby sale a few weeks ago though so met a few people then, but it will be nice to meet people who are due around the same time. Think we are also going to do the NHS antenatal class too.
Got that horrible Monday feeling! Bring on maternity leave!

maisiebeem · 03/03/2013 22:45

quilty I thought it was good- would have been better if we knew what bump was as there wasn't a lot of unisex stuff, but was good for bits other than clothes, can see myself using them religiously in the future, people go a bit crazy at them, trying to get the bargains! Do you know if you're team blue or pink?

learnermummy · 03/03/2013 22:53

Hello Quilty!
Sounds amazing littlemiss! I've had a horrible day spent battling maths homework with DS1! Don't think my DH is that thoughtful!

MrsBri · 04/03/2013 07:22

Hi Quilty! Morning all...boo to it being Monday again :-/

But short day at my desk thanks to a midwife appt later.

Speaking of kicking, it appears I can sleep through anything! I went sleep on the sofa last night, and as baby had had a kicky kind of evening, DH kept his hand on my bump while I slept. Apparently baby was kicking and wriggling really hard for at least an hour as DH could feel it all and I was oblivious!

It's lovely now DH can feel almost all of the movement now too as he feels much more of a part of it, as it was really only occasional til this weekend. Baby B clearly loves battering the inside of mummy :-)

The thought of an NCT sale scares me a bit. I hate busy places anyway, so think it is likely to be my idea of hell!

And Sarah, 13 miles?! Bloody hell. But if you're used to it I suppose that's the key there. :-) I struggle to do a mile! My calves seriously take against it, but I'm increasingly crampy it seems.

learnermummy · 04/03/2013 07:56

Morning all.
At least my Monday is a day off with DS2 Smile so can't complain too much.
Mrsbri leg cramps can be due to a potassium deficiency I think so you could try eating more bananas (suffered last time so trying to remember anything that helped...). There's no way I could manage 13 miles either - get tired walking the 10 mins to school!

massagegirl · 04/03/2013 08:29

Morning everyone,
I am doing nct as new to the area and felt good way to meet people. Have also met a lovely group of girls through a pregnancy exercise class and we meet up, so feel much better about being new and pregnant! I went to nct sale and found it quite a scrum, dad pushing pregnant women out of the way, had to hlod my boyfriend back as he got really cross seeing people shoving me bless him! I guess each sale is different though. I found going to a Mum 2 Mum marlet more helpful as you buy from the mums so can ask them questions about the stuff and haggle! But I know they are not all over the country (I'm in London)
27 weeks now and threw up this morning, really hope it was a one off. boo.
Have a good Monday everyone, am trying to not fall asleep at my desk!

Littlemissexpecting · 04/03/2013 08:44

Maisie how annoying its missing parts, not good.
I'm so tired this morning, dreadful nights sleep. I thought I would sleep like a baby after yesterday.
Baby is definitely getting stronger, even DH can feel kicks and see the kicks more. Very strange!
I start aqua natal this week too, so between that and nct hoping to meet some other pregnant ladies nearby. I'm pretty new here too so don't really know anyone other than DHs family.
I am beginning to regret booking evening nct classes, not sure how I'm going to stay awake as wont be getting home till 10pm!

pinkbear82 · 04/03/2013 09:03

Morning everyone Smile

Won a isofix car seat and base on eBay last night for £35, DP very pleased as he was insisting we had isofix and it's got a funky cow print so suitable for either sex :) We have also decided on the cot we'll get. So a successful weekend all in all and on Friday I'm collecting a whole load of bits and bobs my very lovely friend has sorted out for me. So by this time next week I'll either be feeling overwhelmed or quite organised!

Today's task is to go and kick some butt over a Hoover we brought at the end of January, was meant to collect but I ended up in hospital and DP let them know so they kindly said they would send it to us instead - we are still waiting and the don't call us back when we phone so armed with receipts, my bump and tears if I need them (Wink) I plan on coming home with my new Hoover!!!

Have a good Monday all xx

MrsBri · 04/03/2013 09:58

Learner, I already eat 10 bananas a week. Do you think I need more?! I've always been prone to cramp, but it is worse now.

Maisie, how annoying re the cot. I'd be cheesed off by that. Can't you complain to them?

Pink - good luck re the Hoover :-)
