Just waiting for a scan this morning to find out if there is a clot. My leg feels a lot better so either the blood thinning drugs are working or it was nothing to worry about.

Sleeping in the ward is a little weird. Most of the staff whisper but the odd one has a foghorn voice.

Fingers crossed i get out after the scan. Think i gave a few people a fright yesterday.

MrsBri · 01/03/2013 09:44

Lexi, I need a support band too, so await advice from people. Talk about achey :-/

I'm wearing trousers baby hates today, cue constant fidgeting! That washing machine sensation is just awful! As much as I love baby, kicking is preferred!!

suzyrut · 01/03/2013 10:38

Hi All,

sunny hope everything goes well today and that they give you some good clear advice on travelling. I always leave appointments thinking...oh I wish I'd asked about X!

mrsbri and lexi what are bump bands????

xx

learnermummy · 01/03/2013 11:14

With my first preganancy I bought some mega knickers from mothercare that had built in bump support and they were fab. Expensive though so I had to wash them a lot!

Bump bands from most high street outlets are more like a boob tube for your bump so make sure you look for one that actually says it's supportive.

Olimoss · 01/03/2013 11:34

Hi All - glad to hear things are looking positive, Sunny.

Mrs Bri - do you think a bump band would help with the low, heavy pressure at the front?

Things here bit so-so. Saw ortho surgeon yesterday and they predict a long wait and recovery for busted knee ligament, which is daunting as at present I can barely get myself around and up and downstairs (we have a Victorian terrace), and am starting to get overwhelmed at how I'll manage when huge and more importantly when baby arrives. I'm usually incrediby even-tempered (drives the boyfriend mad if he's itching for an argument, i just wont have one!)and not fazed by anything but think maybe finally pregnancy hormones are kicking in as have been uncharacteristically weepy at least twice. Only for a minute, mind....! But still. Scary.

Sunbeam18 · 01/03/2013 11:39

Good luck, Sunny! I think I would/will freak out staying overnight in hospital when the time comes! I've never been in hospital before.

Hope all is well with your scan.

MrsBri · 01/03/2013 12:06

Oli, I would hope a bump band would do that, yes. I'm also also hoping walking will be made easier by one due to the support.

Not good re your knee. Any clue when you'll know?

I've been weepy too. Driving me mad!

Hope all is OK, Sunny.

SunnyL · 01/03/2013 12:17

Woo hoo scan was clear. They cant say i definately never had a clot but it is unlikely. I may be a complete fraud but have to say the NHS truly is a magnificent beast. Next time my American sister in law tries to take a pop at the NHS i can tell her to put a sock in it.

For any of you in Edinburgh I can thoroughly vouch for Simpsons staff up here. Theyre totally lovely and so efficient.

pinkbear82 · 01/03/2013 12:19

Sunny - hope all is going well. Sleeping in hospital is always fun. When I was in about a month ago, I had over a week on a ward with the worst snorer ever and a lady that almost constantly broke wind once she fell asleep!

Oli - that's a real shame about the wait for your knee. I hope they are able to get something sorted. How are you finding the pain? Are you able to take anything more than paracetamol?

Littlemiss - hope the midwife has been in touch and even better if bubs has started wiggling.

The bump supports sound interesting - I wonder if that would help my waddling?! Baby has in the last two days been all over on my right side, which once again means I'm in agony with my kidney.
Last night bubs was having a disco, DP felt it for the first time properly it was so clear - however today very quiet, think its probably resting up after being so active!

Hope everyone's Friday goes ok and you all get a nice restful weekend xx

Sarah2506 · 01/03/2013 12:30

There are five of us pregnant at work at the moment, due mid May to mid June - I'm the last. One has the same due date as me and she is already on maternity leave! She had her last baby at 25 weeks, which is what we are today, and has already gone off as her cervix isn't looking great. Another is due on 31st May and she is going in two weeks - but she has arthritis and is struggling because of that. At the other end of the spectrum one girl, who already has SPD, is working till 38 weeks, and the other to 37. 37 is pretty much what most do round here, as you could be waiting for 5 weeks even leaving at that point. I'm thinking that 35/36 might suit me, as I know I'm having a section at 39. I can't imagine already being off and sitting around waiting for up to 3.5 months! I would go MAD!

cyclecamper · 01/03/2013 12:38

Oli - that sounds rotten. Hope your knee breaks all records heaing.

Sunny - great news that there is no clot.

ouch to the shaving accident, that sounds nasty! I'm not the most enthusiatic shaver at the best of times (trim the bits that would stick out of my swimsuit!) but that's put me off even that! Hairy is the new black Grin.

In my current 3 week temp job I have use of a car, which is nice because I don't have to catch the train home at night (I finish at 7 three times a week and 9 twice). I don't normally drive (we don't own a car) and I find days like today, where I did a lot of running around in it all morning, really painful. I can't get comfortable in the seat and end up with an awful pain in my left side. I get that sometimes at night too, but the car seems to be the worst thing for it. After this finishes, I might avoid jobs with driving!

I'm going out tonight after work to meet friends in the pub. I am not looking forward to it because all I want to do on Friday night is go home to bed! I don't mind not drinking (I didn't often drink before I was pregnant), but I really don't want to stay out!

AmIGoingMad · 01/03/2013 20:02

That's great news Sunny! Glad all is well now and that you coped well with the overnight stay!

Sunbeam- I'd be tempted to be really firm with them and insist on another arrangement if you're not happy with the train etc- I wouldn't want to do that journey then at all. I agree with the suggestion to sound out midwife now in case you'll need any further back up. It would be madness if you did however- and show that your boss has no understanding!

That shaving incident made me wince. Poor you! I share your problems down there but it's not something that DH is going to be interested in helping with to be honest. Might have to bite the bullet and go for a wax!

Dontmind- that's the thing. I can't decide if I want a c section or not so its difficult to really fight my corner for one. I seem to change my mind on an almost daily basis at the moment. Driving myself mad!

So happy the weekend's here! Hope you've all got nice, restful ones planned!

maisiebeem · 01/03/2013 22:17

Hello everyone,
So much to catch up on!
I have had a strangely busy week, having had a almost a week of baby getting quieter and quieter, until I had 24hrs of not feeling anything. I ended up having a check up with mw, just to put myself at ease. She was about to book me in to the day assessment unit, for a check, when baby did a massive kick while she was listening to the heart beat with the Doppler. Such relief! I blubbered a lot!
As for support bands, I have been suffering on and off with acute back ache. My mw referred me to the physio. I had a group physio appointment, with other preggars ladies who had spd, (I had no idea my back ache was linked). I got given lids of excercises and a support band! It is actually just a piece of big tubi grip! I have to wear it when I'm standing or walking for long periods of time, when I have been wearing it for a while I have a stripey bump which dh finds quite amusing! But it really does help. Plus it was free! I'm not sure if you could get a piece from doctors or mw.
Have a pretty quiet weekend, hopefully going to sort out nursery, and collecting cot (a beautiful grey stokke sleepi hat I won on eBay).
How everyone has a nice weekend ahead! X

Littlemissexpecting · 02/03/2013 12:57

Hello all
That's me back from seeing the mw. No movement for 48 hours so they just wanted to check it out. But all fine and good strong hb. Thankfully!
DH is busy clearing out the garage today and I'm sorting out all my clothes that don't fit, or any work clothes that I won't need over next few weeks. I'm hoping my shorts and summer dresses will come back out in July or Aug fingers crossed! Vacuum bags are amazing! So busy household here but spa day tomorrow Smile

MrsBri · 02/03/2013 15:35

That's really good news, Littlemiss :-) Bet it is a relief.

Luckily our move meant I sorted quite a lot before moving. Still need to sort the nursery though. DH's decorating stuff is at the flat he's doing up, so it isn't here. And he's insisting I have to be out. I've asked if he's going to turf me onto the street, bearing in mind I don't know anyone up here. He didn't answer that one!

Having a nice relaxing day today, thankfully :-)

learnermummy · 02/03/2013 15:49

Great news littlemiss.

Whereabouts are you MrsBri? Have you moved far from your last place? We moved away in April last year. Finding my feet now but still miss old friends a lot. Bit easier to make new ones with school age kids though. Hope you can find a nice (decaf)coffee shop and a good book Smile.

MrsBri · 02/03/2013 15:57

I'm in Southport. I moved here 4.5 years, ago to be with DH from Nottingham. I'm actually from Northamptonshire though, so I'm 170 miles from a lot of friends / family.

I know a few people, but not well enough to impose for a whole day really! Have just told him he has to get it done on 23rd when I'm at a baby shower on the Wirral. Good job I know one person up here!

learnermummy · 02/03/2013 19:47

Think I'll be painting myself if I want it done, probably in my lunch break! (i work from home!).

Sarah, found that article in woman's own in Tesco today - you are lovely and slim. What a sweet story about you and your OH x

AmIGoingMad · 02/03/2013 20:38

Maisie and littlemiss that's really good news. So glad that you've had some nice reassurance.

It's been a mixture of cleaning and walking in the sunshine here today. Just waiting for DS to go off to sleep now before having food and hopefully watching a film- unless he takes ages to go to sleep that is!

Sarah2506 · 02/03/2013 22:02

Thanks learner!! Have to say that feels like a lifetime ago- the mountain top photo was taken the day we made this little one:-) Am so annoyed today as discovered that a load of my as yet unworn maternity clothes no longer fit! I don't think they factor in any non bump weight gain and as I am already 10kg up on where I started I guess it was kind of inevitable that stuff wouldn't fit on bottom half. I'm hacked off about top half though- why are my boobs still growing?! How many times will I need new bras?! Such a waste of blimin money!

learnermummy · 02/03/2013 22:31

Oh dear Sarah. I'm doing OK for clothes so far, but practically live in one pair of gap underbump jeans! My boobs haven't really grown at all, but then again never really got much smaller after breastfeeding the last two either!

SunnyL · 03/03/2013 03:53

Im also running low on clothes that fit. Like Learner i have two pairs of gap jeans i'm living in. Irritatingly i got some vouchers for next and tried to buy two pairs of trousers for tenner in their clearance section. Unfortunately as i'm in a new house they wouldnt recognise my postcode so i couldnt set up an account. When i tried to use my sisters account the following day they'd sold out all the things that fit me. Grrrr

learnermummy · 03/03/2013 10:12

How annoying Sunny, I remember when we had postcode problems like that in a new house.

After talk of clothes not fitting I thought I ought to remeasure my bust and seems I have gone up a cup size. Annoying as the maternity bras I like are £37 each!!

DontmindifIdo · 03/03/2013 10:15

Oh the next website is famously crap, don't look at it, it's not worth the blood pressure rises! Pretend you can't buy online from them, far easier...

Saw a lovely friend yesterday who has a lovely snuggle 4 week old, he's gorgeous!!! She also very kindly gave me a few maternity dresses so I have some more smart things to wear.

Feeling shattered today, even thogh I've had 9.5 hours sleep.

MrsBri · 03/03/2013 10:23

I agree with Dontmind...I've actually had things in my basket on the Next site which have sold out by the time I've come to pay! Really annoying :-/

I'm holding back on more new bras for now. I have 3 which is just enough. When I'm nearing my due date I'll go and buy some nursing ones.

Baby B is still doing the rotating thing today. DH can feel him doing it too. Made me feel sick all day yesterday, so hoping he reverts to kicking again soon! Wriggly little baby :-)

24 week midwife appt tomorrow. Think my bump will be measured and I'll be told that it is huge!!
