Sunbeam - Not sure if you can refuse now, although I would be tempted to let him arrange it, then the week before get your midwife to write a letter stating you aren't fit to travel more than 2 hours on the train/shouldn't be more than X hours away from the hospital. Could you sound out your midwife now? If you have a HR department, can you ask them the policy on late term travel and the H&S assessment for you being pregnant, have they thought about video conferencing being as an alternative to travel etc.

AmIGoingMad - do you want a c section? If so, push to talk to another consultant and say you want one, walk in insisiting. They are supposed to let you if you are determined.

DontmindifIdo · 28/02/2013 18:03

Oh and Sunny, hope you are ok!

MrsBri · 28/02/2013 18:14

Right, the HSE flag travel as something which is a specific risk to pregnant workers. Therefore say that they will have to do a risk assessment to decide if you should be doing that sort of journey at that stage of pregnancy.

Have a very very stupid moment.. Possibly tmi but I can't tell anyone in real life they'll think I'm thick!
So was getting ready for a bath as have been very sick today so thought it would make me feel better was thinking I was getting a bit tmi hairy down below so decided to have a trim and as I can't see past my bump misjudged what I felt and cut a lip! And I don't mean on my face!! It is soooooo sore! Ow ow ow Confused

pinkbear82 · 28/02/2013 18:24

Sunny hope ur ok!

Sunbeam I'd talk to your midwife and see what she says - sounds like ur boss is being a bit of a plonker!

Pink apples - sorry but that made me giggle - it's so something I would do!! Which then reminded me I wanted to get a mirror for the bathroom and forgot today while i was out..... This might help remind me now lol
Hope the nip settles down and doesn't stay sore for too long! Watch out for a wee Confused Shock

Hi all

well turns out blood clots are taken quite seriously so I'm being admitted overnight in hospital. Had blood thinning injection and will be woken up at 6am for my next one. Will get an ultrasound of my leg tomorrow. Got a nice long listen to babys heartbeat though - sounds perfectly happy in there.

Sunbeam short haul flights you are allowed on til 37 weeks. I had been planning lots more work trips up until i'm banned but after today i may be re-thinking......

:-)

DontmindifIdo · 28/02/2013 18:50

SunnyL - that sounds horrible, hope you are ok.

Pinkapples - when it regrows, book a brazillian wax...

learnermummy · 28/02/2013 19:02

Sunny sounds awful, glad you're being looked after.
Sunbeam don't get pushed into if but you would be ok to fly with midwife permission. But get compression socks!
Pinkapples that's funny but ow! Think will be getting DH to do any trimming from now on!!

Sunny glad you got checked out not worth a risk. With the jabs as tempting as it is dont rub the area they do them even tho it hurts! My friend who's an a+e nurse says that causes the bruising! And the jabs are bad enough without turning black and blue as well!
Hope the ultrasound goes well tomorrow. And hope the ward you are on isn't too noisy! x

AlohaMama · 28/02/2013 20:18

sunny you poor thing, hope the o/n stay is ok and you're back to normal soon. sounds like you might need to be putting your feet up and laying off the jet-setting for a while.

sunbeam hope you manage to sort out things with work. at the very least it doesn't sound like your boss is being particularly sympathetic, it seems ridiculous he's not up for you calling in if you have VC facilities.

and pinkapples - ouch!!! i'm wincing just thinking about it!

SunnyL · 28/02/2013 20:20

Ah well i'm on the post natal ward not the antenatal ward. There are two small babies staring at me. Beginning to panic about what i've let myself in for. I have ear plugs tonight but not sure they will be allowed in 3 months time!

redwellybluewelly · 28/02/2013 20:53

Good luck Sunny with sleeping, pleased you got checked out and that they are taking it seriously.

I'm travelling to a conference at 30weeks and somewhat embarrassingly hadn't considered the impact on bump. Five hours on the train and very long days with me presenting and then network evenings out arranged and so I'll be exhausted.

MrsBri · 28/02/2013 21:44

Goodness, Sunny, hope you're ok. At least you're in the best place. I hope you manage some sleep.

Pinkapples, I'm so very cautious trimming my lady bits now I can't see them. Not sure DH is up for that one quite yet!

Going back to a previous conversation, I just tried squeezing my boobs in the bath, but no leakage as yet! :-)

forgetmenots · 28/02/2013 21:58

I'm of the 'only do what you feel comfortable with' brigade - although I know it's fine to fly, I found it really uncomfortable and stressful so I'm not doing it at all. (I used to be a terrible flier, have been great recently but felt really upset on my last flight, not to mention uncomfy).

Trains I wouldn't mind so much if I had a seat and wasn't expected to do much changing or running about, so that would suit me. But the bottom line is, if you're not happy don't do it. I don't believe it's worth it.

forgetmenots · 28/02/2013 21:59

PS redwelly so pleased to hear there's more wriggling!

Hawkmoth · 28/02/2013 23:15

SunnyL hope you're ok and manage to get some rest. Why on earth are you on that ward? Won't you automatically be banned from flying now?

Pinkapples, I was asking DH to help with mine yesterday but he wasn't keen. After your post he no longer has a choice.

Littlemissexpecting · 01/03/2013 05:38

Sunny hope you managed to get some sleep?
I'm getting worried, not felt this lo move for a couple of days, his usual routine is no longer. I wasn't sure if 24 wks was too early to be concerned or not, as he's probably just moved around a bit but tried calling mw yesterday, left a voicemail at 10am and no one returned my call. I'll try again later

MrsBri · 01/03/2013 07:18

Littlemiss, I've been told to ring between 9-10 before they go on community duties, so I'd try then.

Baby is still small enough to move about without you noticing at the moment, but it's best to get it checked out.

Sunny, I hope you got some sleep and today goes ok for you.

So glad it's Friday today. More than a little exhausted. At least it is another week ticked off the waiting for maternity leave to start ticked off!

pinkapples · 01/03/2013 07:21

It is a bit early yet littlemiss don't worry is it your first I can't remember we've had so many threads Grin I very rarely feel my little un' have a glucose test on the 12th march so will ask then about frequency but try not to worry I'm still in the flutters stage but not even that some days

Hawk I asked hubby after I did it he just called me an idiot and dismissed it don't think he was keen either hehe

Mawgatron · 01/03/2013 07:40

Morning ladies. Hope we are all keeping reasonably well.
Any news sunny? Have been keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you.
Sunbeam, I agree that if you really don't want to go, then get a midwife note recommending video conference. I really wouldn't want to make that journey now, let alone when I am 30 weeks!
Found out that 2 more of my closest friends are pg too, really excited now as there are 5 of us now who are all due within 3 months of each other. Who needs the nct to make mummy friends eh?
Off to a Johnny cash tribute tonight, should be quite good. Just a day of work to get through...

Littlemissexpecting · 01/03/2013 08:08

Thanks mrs Bri I'll try between then.

Pink yeah it's my first. I'm sure it's nothing, and he has just moved, I'm probably over thinking things but we seemed to have got into a pattern and then nothing.
Happy Friday everyone! I have the day off thankfully.

Littlemissexpecting · 01/03/2013 08:09

Maw that is very exciting. My friend is due end of May so its great having someone due around the same time.

Sunbeam18 · 01/03/2013 08:36

That's great, Maw. Makes a difference to have a buddy. I'm delighted as a good friend is now due in September. Most of my friends already have kids at school age as am a late starter at 40 so this is gret news.

LexiLexi · 01/03/2013 09:00

Morning everyone.

Sunny I hope you managed to get some rest and that the swelling in your leg has gone down and littlemiss hopefully you manage to get in touch with the Midwife- I've had a couple of similar episodes of baby being quiet, they seem to have coincided with outgrowing various items of clothes so perhaps it's just a case of baby temporarily finding a bit more room for him/herself?

On the subject of expanding bumps, after a long walk in the sunset last night I think I might be needing a bump support band sooner rather than later! Any recommendations anyone?
