Hope all is ok today red. am struggling tonight - was in a traffic jam for over an hour on way home from work and just got home at 720pm. Too bloody much. Just want to go to bed and feel sorry for myself now.

RueDeWakening · 27/02/2013 21:17

Redwelly, hope everything is OK?

Child of Our Time is on BBC1 now by the way folks :o see what you'll get in about 13 years time... (with clips from the baby years too). That's my early night scuppered!

redwellybluewelly · 27/02/2013 22:33

Thank you for all the kind thoughts, I have just climbed into bed and im shattered! Started work at 8.30 and finished at 10pm with a break between 6-8pm where I picked dd up, drove home, did dinner, bath, bed.

Baby has moved more today, typically, but I am seriously beginning to doubt whether I'll be working until 38weeks.

Pink bear I think I got some heartburn just thinking of that sugar drink! Hope you get a good nights sleep.

Glad to hear that red, but sounds like an awfully long day Hmm. I struggle with 9-5.

Have child of our time recorded as couldn't miss one born!

AlohaMama · 28/02/2013 05:04

Glad to hear you had more movement today red. I'm not sure I'd fancy working till 38 weeks with days like that. Even non-pregnant that sounds like too much for me. I still have issues with the 40-hr week in the US unlike my nice 36-hr-flexi-time job I had in the UK!

pinkbear you have my sympathies. those glucose drinks are disgusting, never mind being stabbed like a pincushion!

anyone else started feeling braxton hicks? i did for the first time yesterday and a few more times today. also finally got out the maternity jeans, although am having to hold them up with dh's belt, as the over-the-belly bit just kind of sags around my waist! it's a fine look Confused

Littlemissexpecting · 28/02/2013 06:42

Morning everyone. I'm glad I'm now finishing at 34 weeks... 10 weeks to go!!!! I work similar hours to red, some weeks worse than others but this week has been horrible. I'm off tomorrow, going to start getting baby's room empty this weekend so DH can start decorating. If anyone hasn't bought their cot yet mothercare are offering 20% off when you spend over 100 pound on nursery furniture/mattresses etc.

MrsBri · 28/02/2013 07:13

Morning! I'm glad I'm finishing at 34 weeks too. I couldn't cope with the commute any longer than that, I don't think.

My working hours aren't quite as long as others', but I leave the house at 6.35 and get back at about 6.30 in the evening. After I've eaten I'll do another 1.5-2 hours' work from the sofa. Long days are very tiring though.

Just think though, we have Easter and a bank holiday in early May too :-) Little bit of respite!

I actually have 46.5 working days left. Getting there slowly!

Glad you felt more movement, red, must be a relief. xx

Sounds like an attractive look, Aloha! ;-p

SunnyL · 28/02/2013 07:49

Morning all. I'm back at home after 2 weeks of travelling with work. Part of me is very sad that will be my last long haul trip for quite some time. The other part of me is knackered though and doesn't care. Schizophrenic?

Woke up this morning with a very swollen and sore knee. Wondering if it's either to do wi my varicose veins (seriously gross) or to do with the number of flights I've taken this week. Challenge is - I can only either walk or cycle to work since the bus doesn't go that way.

Sunbeam18 · 28/02/2013 08:33

Crikey, you lot work long hours! I start at 930 and finish at 6 and I'm knackered doing that! X

Littlemissexpecting · 28/02/2013 10:44

Everyone keeps asking me at the minute what I'm going to do about child care when I go back to work. Do I really have to think about that already? It's terrifying as I really don't know what we're going to do!
On a good note, my changing bag has arrived!!! It's really sad that I am so excited isn't it!

redwellybluewelly · 28/02/2013 10:54

I don't usually work such long hours - have a critical data collecting exercise running from Monday until the Wednesday before Easter so everyone is flat out. Because I have a child to take care of I have to make up that 6-8 time between 8-10 IYSWIM?

At my DD's nursery if you want your baby to go there they go on a waiting list from the day they are born and the sooner you can tell them when you are returning to work the better your chances. Both mine have/will start in January which is the busiest time for our nursery.

Admittedly from 30-34 week I'll work 7 in 10 days and then from 34 weeks 6 in 10 until 38 weeks. And I'll be mainly writing reports by that point. Although I do find sitting for long periods very uncomfy.

Right - back to the grindstone Grin

What method did you choose in the end, Sunny? Does it feel sore still? You should get it looked at, I think.

We chose names last night. It's all very exciting. Just have to hope nobody else in the family selects them before we have our baby as there's a few due between now and then! :-/

SunnyL · 28/02/2013 12:33

Well I walked to work and have now decided that was a very bad idea. Knee is twice the size and throbbing. I do wonder a bit about DVT since I've been on so many planes. Will phone my Dad tonight since he is a GP and the font of all knowledge. Coming from an NHS family I don't want to waste my midwifes time unless i really need her.

MrsBri FIL was round a couple of weeks ago and was reading a book that has one of our baby names in it. Don't want to tell DH why I liked the name so much but its because I fancied the character in the book quite badly. Fingers crossed FIL doesn't put two and two together in a few months time!

SunnyL · 28/02/2013 12:36

Hmmm just did a little google online about DVT and pregnancy and this page came up. www.nhs.uk/Conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/dvt-blood-clot-pregnant.aspx#close It appears to discuss my symptoms quite closely. Now thinking I should phone my midwife......

redwellybluewelly · 28/02/2013 13:06

SunnyL I'd make that call to the MW, hope all is well

Hawkmoth · 28/02/2013 13:07

Sunny, does your local walk in centre have ultrasound facilities to rule out DVT? I imagine they'll want you to be checked out in A&E.

Loving this sunny weather, finally!

pinkbear82 · 28/02/2013 13:17

Red glad the wriggles are back - dont envy your day tho!!

Sunny hope you've called the midwife and are getting checked out.

Had a chat with work yesterday as GP signed me off again and looks like be side I'm on SSP now I'll get switched to mat leave at 29 weeks. Work are being really understanding and I realise they need to make plans to cover me etc. which I think they have done already.

Called and booked into antenatal classes today - even tho DP has 3 children already I'm making him come with me. Have a bit of a thing about him having been thru it all before and not being as excited etc etc. that's just on insecure days Hmm

learnermummy · 28/02/2013 13:22

Please do sunny, or go straight to GP. Hope you're ok.

SunnyL · 28/02/2013 14:19

The midwife just called me back. They are sending me to triage at the hospital for a scan. Fingers crossed its nothing but best to check. Now I just wish my DH or my parents would pick up their phones so I can get a lift to the hospital. Not exactly wanting to go on my own.

learnermummy · 28/02/2013 14:42

Good luck SunnyL, hope you can find someone to hold your hand.

Olimoss · 28/02/2013 15:24

Good luck Sunny.....

Sarah2506 · 28/02/2013 15:44

Afternoon all and hope you are doing OK Sunny...

I have a bunch of 20% of M&S vouchers which are valid between now and 3rd March. Happy to send anyone who wants it an online code. Just stocked up on some more of their fab maternity jeggins and tights, though remain entirely disappointed with their naff leggins. Let me know!

AmIGoingMad · 28/02/2013 17:07

Sunny how are you? Did you manage to get hold of anyone? I hope you've had scan and are feeling better now.

Red- that's a crazy long day! How do you do it?! I'm glad little one is a bit busier for you now!

I had my consultant appt this morning. Whilst she was very reassuring I did feel a bit dismissed on the cesarean front. She said they'd prefer not to as my tear seems to have healed well and the bleed I had last time suggests natural birth is better option. She said recommending a consultant led birth this time rather than midwife led. It'll be interesting to see if that happens in the day!

Sunbeam18 · 28/02/2013 17:30

Hope all is ok, Sunny.
I'd like to canvas opinion on something that has pissed me off this afternoon. My boss has asked me to go down to Oxford for a team meeting (I'm in Edinburgh) on 11-12 April. I will be 30 weeks pregnant by that date so told him that I would prefer not to travel by that stage unless it was essential. I also told him that the cut off for flying was 28 weeks so I'd have to travel by train if I came down.
I suggested videoconference (which we have) or dialling in by phone. His response was to look into trains...

I really don't want to spend 14 hours on trains over a two day period at that stage of pregnancy. What do you all think? Can I refuse??

MrsBri · 28/02/2013 17:51

My company would never do that to me, Sunbeam. I'm trying to find something I've previously read about work-related travel. Bear with me!
