redwelly - I would love laminate floors, but unfortunately we rent (and have no spare money to spend on a house that we may only be in another year or 2Sad)

Littlemissexpecting · 19/02/2013 22:28

We've bought the iso fix base for our car seat. It's 120quid so costly but my SiL said it would be worth every penny especially if its raining! She bought hers when my nephew was 4 weeks old. We went for the be safe iZi go car seat instead of maxi cosi it can be used on the iCandy with the maxi cosi adapters. Cot arrived today so starting to feel real!

LexiLexi · 20/02/2013 07:30

According to Which? isofix bases provide more protection in certain types of accident, including side impacts, so is a must for us.

Sarah, I haven't even dared step on the scales! Though guess I'll find out at my appointment next week.

I've been doing a bit of mattress research. Apparently it's the foam ones which should be avoided as they can encourage mould growth. Stokke do a Coco mat upgrade but it's v expensive. There are a couple of other places (one in Wales & one in Devon) that do Stokke for about half the price & they'll custom make for any other brand too. If anyone would like details, please PM me.

Baby is responding to touch & sound now, though some of the kicks are really quite strong-don't know how long my stomach muscles will hold out!

suzyrut · 20/02/2013 09:27

We bought the isofix base as much as anything so I won't have to faff around with seat belts every time we go anywhere. With that said I've also bought a push chair with a carrycot (and car seat adaptors) so either one will probably end up being under used, if only I knew which!

learnermummy I'm on dc3 and had my 1st proper appointment at 16 weeks then won't see anyone again until 28 weeks. It was the same with my 2nd I seem to remember. I was relieved to have the scan at 20 weeks as it does seem a hugely long time in between appointments. Am quite glad though because i'm having to go to the hospital to see the consultant for every appointment rather than just local midwife which is a pain and costing a fortune in parking!

redwellybluewelly · 20/02/2013 09:54

LexiLexi is that Green Sheep in Wales? If so then thats where we got our DDs cot mattress and it has been absolutely wonderful

cyclecamper I've reread my post from last night and I am so sorry if it sounded like I was teaching you to suck eggs! Was extremely tired and went to bed at quarter to ten, woken throughout the night by DD waking and then DH getting cross with her. Think she wanted her mummy and she was cold as well but she has got to that point where she is uncomfy co sleeping but likes the extra warmth from mummy/daddy. Might try her in her thicker PJs tonight and see if that helps.

hi redwelly, yes it is. I was just procrastinating looking into some reviews, so really helpful to know that you are pleased with yours. Sorry to hear that your DD didn't settle very well last night, the temperature is so up and down isn't it- we are constantly putting on/throwing off blankets!

redwellybluewelly · 20/02/2013 10:18

They were really great, it arrived quickly and I think I got a 10% discount code from somewhere, they often do deals - it was expensive, but we also bought a mattress topper which is washable and when DC2 goes into the cot we'll replace the mattress topper but not the mattress. Certainly nice to think DD sleeps on sheep Grin

I realised after getting to work today that I forgot to get my MATB1 form signed - should teh MW have given it to me or should I have sent off for it?!

OP posts:
Littlemissexpecting · 20/02/2013 13:01

Red welly your mw should be able to pop it in the post for you. That what mine did

learnermummy · 20/02/2013 13:11

I haven't managed to get hold of a dream genii pillow from TK Maxx so far, has anyone seen any discount codes in any magazines?

Olimoss · 20/02/2013 13:18

Argh think will have to get an isofix then, now too scared not to!

In other exciting news, I managed another fall on the slippery train floor, on way to work today. Cue a trip to A&E, a busted medial collateral ligament in my left knee, crutches, a brave, apps with the Ortho next week and an extremely cranky face (mine).

Crazily the A&E at the hospital I was at won't/don't/can't do foetal health monitoring so it was either head to the EPU or my GP. I went with GP, heartbeat fine, but doesn't that all seem a faff all for the want of a Doppler?

Olimoss · 20/02/2013 13:20

Brave = brace, for knee

ChicaT · 20/02/2013 13:38

Ouch!!! Anyone else suffering stretchy pains and indigestion today? Both in one day is a bit much. Very sore, currently working from bed!

I think Isofix is the best option...easy to use and safe.

learnermummy · 20/02/2013 13:58

Oh dear Olimoss sounds nasty. Get better soon Biscuit.

Am watching a maxi cosi isofix base on ebay at the moment...

cyclecamper · 20/02/2013 14:01

Redwelly No problem - I took it as it was meantSmile.

Olimoss ooh, nasty, hope you heal soon.

ChicaT I've had some rotten days with both the stretching and the indigestion. I think my muscles are quite put out at being put to such strain for the first time at my age!

One of my bosses in the early nineties had a lovely wool matress from somewhere in Kent - the programme/research about foam matresses came out just after she had her baby so the baby slept on blankets for a few weeks whilst we waited for the matress to arrive! I haven't started thinking about matresses yet.

I'm hoping to muster the energy to go and try the pregnancy yoga class tonight. I won't be able to attend for the next 3 weeks as I will be working till 7pm, but I think getting started is a good idea.

learnermummy · 20/02/2013 14:17

Pregancy yoga is great cycle. Unfortunatley there are no classes near me. I have a DVD but never seem to muster the energy to do it!

ChicaT · 20/02/2013 14:30

How old are you Cyclecamper if you don't mind me asking?! I'm 36, and while not pregnant i feel perfectly young, fit and healthy but pregnant...let's just say 'haggard and tired' rather than 'fresh and glowing'! Also have you thought about getting an ioniser and/or a humidifier to help with the dust? Our place is newly renovated so lots of dust, I find a humidifier helps if it makes me cough at night.

Lexilexi - I'm getting a Green Sheep mattress too. We live in a warm climate and so I want something that's breathable and won't grow invisible mould.

learnermummy · 20/02/2013 14:37

Have just signed up for a pilates class, and whilst it isn't a pregnancy specific one the instructor does have pregnancy training. Have paid upfront so that will force me to go! Ordered yoga pants from mothercare to go in and added a couple of packs of Nature newborn nappies as they were on offer. I feel like I'm slowly getting more organised....

redwellybluewelly · 20/02/2013 15:00

We have a few pack of NatureBabyCare Size 1 as they are on offer, although they didn't fit DD that well so we might get some other eco brands as well

I have back and bump ache. Its 3pm, the earliest I can sneak is 4pm. I have so much work to do its frightening but its hard to concentrate when uncomfy.

I am absolutely mortified by this email which has just been sent round the team Blush

'As you all know I am fond of baking and happy to bring in the occasional cake etc for the team to enjoy. However on the last couple of occasions the cake I have left on the side on Monday morning has been gone by the afternoon, which means those who don't work Mondays feel left out and don't get to enjoy the occasional treat! Whilst I'm pleased you enjoy my cakes could you possibly enjoy only one slice each so there is some leftover on Tuesday? Many thanks. '

redwellybluewelly · 20/02/2013 15:46

Unless you have eaten the entire cake then I don't think you have anything to worry about!?

OP posts:
peardrop2 · 20/02/2013 15:55

Hah hah how much cake have you eaten?

peardrop2 · 20/02/2013 15:57

Poor Oli! Hmm

redwellybluewelly · 20/02/2013 16:32

Oli I missed your fall! Hope you get better quickly and that does sound madness to not have any foetal checks in an A&E!

OP posts:
AlohaMama · 20/02/2013 17:10

ow oli that sounds crap. How long are you going to be on crutches for?

sarah surely you only had 2 slices, one for you one for baby? that seems legitimate!

MrsBri · 20/02/2013 17:51

Ouch, Oli, that sounds nasty :-/ Hope you recover soon.

Maybe the cake baking person should bring it in on a Tuesday and save any further issues. How many slices have you had, by the way?! :-)

We've gone for a breathable mattress, not a foam one, for both the Moses basket and cot bed. I don't believe in getting the cheapest option for that.

Baby B has been kicking almost all day today without break. I'm assuming he's knackered now as I'm getting a break! Hopefully we will sleep all night too. He doesn't keep me awake or wake me, so I assume he generally sleeps when I do!

Oh, I lied, here he goes again! :-)

Had a horror day today. Went to Court for two small hearings, but was only given the papers half an hour before I left and they were not right. Cue a bollocking from the Judge He did acknowledge it wasn't my fault, but I was to pass the bollocking on!

Glad I'm on the way home now!
