Second that coke honestly you will be fine - human body is specifically designed to protect your little ones in there and your pelvis and uterus have them safe and snug. Sounds like your arm and elbow took the brunt of your fall anyway so really try not to worry. I know friends who have had car accidents, fallen playing sport, fallen off bikes and all sorts and been fine. Sending a hug and try not to stress x

andadietcoke · 06/02/2013 22:33

Thank you both Thanks

I know I shouldn't worry unless I cramp or bleed, and most googling says it'll be fine, but I can't stop thinking about it. DH is trying to book me a private scan for Saturday or Friday night so I won't worry for the next however many weeks until I have my scan.

I haven't been sick tonight either. Argh.

SGJ · 06/02/2013 22:38

Try not to stress, Coke, that will do you more harm emotionally than the fall will physically! (I'm no doctor but that sounds v v scientific to me!)
But seriously, everything should be fine, we have ladies on the thread going skiing soon with their bumps, the body is designed to protect babies from all sorts. Hope you can get a scan to ease your mind though.

Ps, bagel & egg dinner followers, it was lovely but I ate too much & now feel sick from being too full. CAN'T WIN!

Kittenkatzen · 07/02/2013 07:52

Just to add to the chorus of "don't worries" dietcoke. Like the others say, everything is so small and tucked away atm even with two, and it sounds like you broke your own fall anyway, you'll be fine Smile it's probably just the shock of falling and being in a strange place alone that's making the panic feel worse.

amiready I would love a nice soft poached egg but haven't done so yet. I know that people have said that lion stamped eggs are fine to eat soft as they're vaccinated, and also that veined/soft cheeses are fine if cooked (eg in a pie or something, not just melted). But all the "official" info I've seen says not to, so I've stuck to that so far. We'll see how desperate I get though! Smile

jennimoo · 07/02/2013 08:20

Kitten - the current guidelines say hard mouldy cheeses are fine. I can't stand Stilton though so no good to me.

I'm trying not to worry but my mum had a small operation yesterday and my stepdad was supposed to text to say all was well and whether she was home yesterday or not and I've woke this morning to still no text. Don't want to bother them if Mum's feeling groggy but cross no ones bothered to let me know. At least hoping that's all it is...

HettySunshine · 07/02/2013 08:33

Dietcoke. All will be well. Your little jelly beans will have weathered the storm and will be wondering when the next big exciting wave is coming. Try not to fret (ho ho!) and hopefully your dp will sort out a lovely scan for you for when you get back.

Jennimoo, I'm sure if there were any problems with your mum they would have let you know straight away. Far more likely they were both zonked last night and went to bed and forgot. No doubt they'll be mortified when they realise they forgot to let you know. I'm sure you'll get an apologetic text/ phone call any minute now.

On another note, I'm starting to show! I am pretty slim usually but there is a definite and unmistakable little pot there! This is my first dc so not sure if this is normal or not? I'm 8+5. I have my booking appointment tomorrow so will ask the mw but wondered if any one else was starting to show?

BinarySolo · 07/02/2013 09:01

Coke I fell when 8 months pregnant with my son. He was totally fine. I had the reassurance of being able to feel him kick shortly after though, but please try not to worry.

Re: poached eggs. Totally fine if they're lion marked. I've had a few. We've got pet ducks which should start laying soon so I'll have to have those hard boiled or in cakes . . .

jemimahpuddleduck · 07/02/2013 09:12

coke I agree I'm sure everything will be fine can understand why you're worried hopefully DH will get the scan sorted.

jenni i agree with hetty that you will probably get an apologetic text any minute.

hetty I am 8+4 and already have a little belly I bought some maternity work trousers and they feel lovely! I am quite small normally so I am really noticing.

Had my booking in last night MW was very nice got my scan at lunch to make sure everything is ok after spotting feeling a little nervous!

LexyMa · 07/02/2013 09:26

morning all. I am off to my booking in at 10 at the local children's (formerly Sure Start) centre... Hope to get to hear something on the doppler (I did first time round) and get a scan date soon. I would like to be able to tell my parents when they come to stay the week after next, which is both mine and my mum's birthday week. I had never really thought before how crap it must have been to have spent her birthday on a postnatal ward that year!

I must either be very naive or very hard hearted but I am not finding myself worrying about anything. I suppose it will all come crashing down around me at some point. Should I touch wood or something at this point? I was on that drinking in pregnancy thread before it became a super-judgy bunfight and seriously still struggle to get as paranoid as some. Here's my confession... I'm a wine tippler, coffee drinker, brie eater, a second-trimester skier, and I was indeed up a ladder at 37 weeks last time.

Anyway I am sure your little beans are ok, dietcoke, and so is your mum jenni. But if it's worrying you, call them rather than waiting to be called.

I'd better be off - need to have a great big drink of water and make this pee sample soon. Grin

Eeeknumber3 · 07/02/2013 09:33

dietcoke all will be fine I'm sure, but horrid to be alone with it in strange surroundings. I fell at about 12 weeks with ds1 and it was horrible, but all was well...he's fairly normal other than his clothing OCD! x

Eeeknumber3 · 07/02/2013 09:58

Alert, alert! I have the famed poo crown and am waving around with glee! There was just a scene in my loo that was reminiscent of the old film 'the sinking of the Bismarck '! Finally, the endless roughage and veg have worked their magic. Thank goodness I wasn't caught short at school, it would have definitely blocked the teeny tiny reception child sized toilets; lol's envisaging 4 year old screeching in horror at lois's mummy stuck on the toilet. That would have given miss c the shock of her life....ah, the relief is palpable!

jennimoo · 07/02/2013 10:08

Mum called, obviously all is fine. Apparently they tried to leave an answer phone message on my mobile last night but it didn't work...

Thanks for reassuring words, was having a panic probably as knackered: full of cold and didn't sleep well!

In one week I will have had my 12 week scan :)

Eeeknumber3 · 07/02/2013 10:11

Glad all is well jenni, hope your mum is much better soon

nerual · 07/02/2013 10:16

LexyMa, I was also a second trimester skier (well, snowboarder) and beer tippler in first pg... no skiing this year though, too tricky with toddler! Is it too early for salt and vinager crisps??

jm233 · 07/02/2013 11:04

Just found myself stood behind pantry door, eating a bag of cheese ball crisps... Out of the bag... With a spoon...

Creamtea1 · 07/02/2013 11:11

Actually laughing about eek and the poo crown / reception toilet scenario - imagine the horror Grin
I think I infected the thread with the poo relief!

10 weeks today. Thought I was feeling better but then nearly hurled in the kitchen sink..bleurgh...off to toast a crumpet now

fl0b0t · 07/02/2013 11:14

dietcoke- I hope all is well, and I'm sure it well be

binary~- you have ducks?! So jealous!

Creamtea1 · 07/02/2013 11:19

Lemon curd on a crumpet...v nice

jemimah good luck at the scan and let us know how you get on

Peabody25 · 07/02/2013 11:20

For those that have had their booking in appointment what questions did you ask? I've thought of things like when appts will be, when/how I should receive date of my scan, does she know of any local ante/aqua natal groups, how much water to drink before scan etc! Not even thought as far as water births etc, I know which hospital it will be. Any thing else I've missed? Got our appointment tomorrow first thing!

nerual · 07/02/2013 11:24

You can ask to hear the heartbeat, sometimes they seem to do it for you, sometimes not...

Eeeknumber3 · 07/02/2013 11:31

Do pregnant still get the healthy start vouchers? I managed to miss them with both of my other two, think they were introduced just after number 2. Also, how do I get my matb1 card, hmmmm, not seeing anyone for booking in til same day as 12/13 week scan, and I want my root canal re jigging?!

Kittenkatzen · 07/02/2013 11:47

creamtea NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO crumpets aren't sweet, they're savoury!! I do want lemon curd now though......

peabody that seems like a pretty thorough list of questions to me. Tbh honest though the midwife at my booking covered all of that off anyway. The only thing we ended up asking was for some extra info regarding the combined screening test (as we think we're going to decline).

eeek not sure about the vouchers, but I've already had my free prescription/dental card through - the midwife at my pre-booking gave me the form to fill out and send off at 6wks. The MATB1 is separate and I was told I won't get that until my 20wk scan appt.

Creamtea1 · 07/02/2013 11:49

eek I got given the matb1 form to fill in at booking appt, had to hand it in at the doctors and then recieved the matb1 in the post a couple of weeks after.

LexyMa · 07/02/2013 11:49

just had a very underwhelming booking appt. The only question I thought of was about mastitis and everything else was completely normal. The very nice midwife even pre-empted me asking to be put in for home birth!

There was a faff with the rooms for appts because they were double booked, so I had to hang about to get in the room with the height and weight things. Didn't seem the moment to ask her to have a listen on the doppler. had blood samples taken, including one for ferritin (iron stores) which is because I mumbled something about always being a bit borderline anaemic. Got the form for free prescriptions which I guess is what you need for dentistry too Eeek but have to get it stamped at the GP surgery. Annoyingly I could have dropped in while I was over in that area but I was fixated on getting a Greggs chicken slice.

Should get 12w scan date through the post, but they keep my notes until the scan, which I thought was slightly odd, there's hardly anything in them, or maybe they are sent with the bloods. At the scan I take the notes back and keep them until the birth.

I think I'll hold off making an initial enquiry with an Independent Midwife until after the first scan and nuchal results. Any second timers thinking of doing update antenatal classes? I picked up an NCT leaflet in the waiting room...

Creamtea1 · 07/02/2013 11:50

Sorry yes - what kitten said - the thing I was talking about was the free prescription/dentist etc card, the matb1 doesn't get given untill 20 weeks.
