Thinkingof4 · 29/01/2013 14:31

I've been getting all the 'are you trying for a girl this time then/ do you think you'll get 'your girl' type comments too. I suppose it's better than '4 children are you mental!' type thing!!
I'm another cloth nappy lover here. Ive always used tots bots and fleece liners plus motherease wraps. I'm actually looking forward to getting the size 1s out of the loft again, how sad is that. There is just nothing cuter than old style tots bots fluffles- think baby on fairy washing up bottle (do they still even use that image!)
I bought most of mine from eBay or other used nappy sites and they have been very well used esp with first 2 being in nappies till age 3! I wonder how much money I saved over the years!!

Thinkingof4 · 29/01/2013 14:34

Oh re pregnancy vits I'm taking cheap ones made by valupak which I found on amazon, seem to have all the same stuff in them (not omega stuff) and I seem to tolerate them better than pregnacare

photographerlady · 29/01/2013 15:29

So my boss passed my review on to my co-manager to do. After I was meant to have it three weeks ago her (co-manager) and I just talked about work in general and it wasn't really a review. I feel like I've been pushed off since I will be on leave later this year, I don't know what I am meant to do cause she didn't and I guess really couldn't talk about salary increases.

Handing in my letter this week for mat leave. I hope to take all my holiday I am owed and be out the door by the last week of April. What a bunch of... will work on turning down my hormones.

trustissues75 · 29/01/2013 16:37

Hello all

Can I join in? I had no idea this forum was here!

37, ds1 just turned 8. Edd July 11th. Recently moved to East Leicester and know virtually no one. Planning a home water birth. Been having to take it easy and bored out of my brain!

orangebubbles · 29/01/2013 17:02

Been so busy I had to come here to see how pregnant I actually was!!! Then realised hadn't even updated list since 12 week scan put me back 2 days!!! So here's new list and I think that makes me 15+1 (all a bit immaterial really as I'm seeing consultant beginning of Feb to discuss elective on medical grounds. Far cry from my perfect home birth last time round).
Hope you are all well, will try and catch up over next week or so Smile

This place moves fast!Grin

trickybarmby · 29/01/2013 18:27

thank you so much cheese and bread! I'm on my 3rd child but for some reason am worrying a million times more than I did with the other two! unless rose tinted spectacles have just made me forget! I have 2 boys already and am sick of people presuming I'm desperate for a girl! I reaaaallly don't mind! in some ways it'd be easier to have a 3rd boy as I know what to do with them! that and I have 8 years worth of boys stuff in my loft! x

trickybarmby · 29/01/2013 18:29

p.s. can't add myself to the due dates list cos im always on my phone but I'm due 31st July, so 13w 5 x

Huffpot · 29/01/2013 18:48

Hi TomDaleysTrunks. How funny is the same due date?!

I have 2 DS's already and DP would love a girl so lets wait and see.

Ahhh the rage. Thats been striking me badly...Its quite scary how it takes over!Shock

AmaDablam · 29/01/2013 19:55

Evening! Welcome Huffpot and Trustissues. Good to see you again too Orangebubbles, hope you're OK.

Thanks for the rant sympathy. As someone said I think it's when you get psyched up for something then it doesn't happen, even something as simple as a blood test, it knocks you sideways a bit at a time when you're already feeling a bit delicate. Anyway, I have blood tests re-booked for tomorrow for the triple test and ones that got lost so it's all good, hopefully.

Grin at the pregnancy cigs! I thought it might be one of those nicotine replacement inhalor things especially for pg ladies trying to give up!

Following the cloth nappies conversation with interest. I really like the idea of using them, whilst disposables really don't sit well with my "green" tendencies. However, I do worry about getting them dry when the weather isn't good enough to hang them out. We don't have a tumble dryer or anywhere really to put one, and it's going to be tricky enough finding the indoor space to dry the baby's clothes, let alone a load of nappies each day. A friend has kindly offered me her cloth nappies so I was thinking about maybe trying to just use one or two a day and the rest disposables and see how we go. Ellie how has it worked for you using some of each?

Got a proper little bump going on today Smile, although for anyone that doesn't know I'm pg it probably just looks like I ate all the pies!

dinkystinky · 29/01/2013 20:01

Hmm Photographerlady that is really crap of your managers.v envious of you having so much holiday left to take pre maternity leave - our holiday year runs June to June so I have only a week to use pre-leave (have already booked in various school holiday timed breaks).

Welcome Trustissues - hope all going well with your pregnancy. Feel free to add yourself to the ever growing list up thread. Babies are a great ice breaker (look at all us total strangers nattering away on here!) so hopefully you will have a load of new friends v soon. Hope the move went well.

Runswithsquirrels · 29/01/2013 20:19

I'm another in favour of cloth nappies. I think I'm going to get into one of those schemes where a company take the dirty ones and bring back clean ones! No worries about drying them and the washing machine won't be on the go so much. I think my London borough subsidise a scheme too. Research needed!

OP posts:
VinegarDrinker · 29/01/2013 21:27

Yes most London boroughs give you a generous voucher towards cloth nappies. We use Onelife one size nappies with wraps and flushable liners. Haven't found it a problem drying nappies indoors (we are in a flat) although it is easier since we got our heated airer. We use disposables at night and for long trips out.

TotallyEggFlipped · 29/01/2013 21:41

Found this about maternity pillows.

Sashabella0 · 29/01/2013 22:16

London ladies, have a look at this for info on real nappies:

www.realnappiesforlondon.org.uk/

X

MarieKL · 29/01/2013 22:50

Had to giggle at bus lady and pg cigs Smile

Welcome to those joining us. Looks like the maternity wards are going to be busy in July.

All this cloth nappy talk is making me feel very ashamed, but I'm addicted to the convince of disposables so trying to convince myself that all that extra washing and tumble drying can't be good for the environment either! I guess it's whatever suits each of us best but I'm rather green with envy about everyone getting excited about buying nappies. Disposables just aren't that exciting!

Photographerlady - I agree, that's just not fair. You should still beable to discuss salary though, otherwise it could be seen as direct discrimination but I agree its tricky to bring up and will depend on your company's culture whether you take it forward or not. At least you don't have long too go before you start mat leave though.

orangebubbles · 29/01/2013 23:28

cloth nappies, pg cigs and employment issues... I'm getting there!!!

Anyone still exercising? I'm still running (jogging) a small amount but keeping up with spinning and gym workouts. I look like an elephant but it must all be air as the weight is not piling on according to the scales!!!

Boo mightbe another one here that is emotionally up and down. I am certain running around after DD just tips the balance some days when the exhaustion just kicks in and the spirits drop. Not helped by DH being O/S but there we go, not seen him for 12 weeks now Sad

supershiv I had a home water birth for DD1 and it was beautiful, I didn't have any drugs, nothing at all. I used a tense machine from 1cm dilated until I got in the pool at 9cm. It was the most perfect experience I can imagine. If you want to ask any q's feel free or pm me. Pool in a box are great if you need to source a pool.

Welcome newbies Smile

emblosion · 30/01/2013 01:36

Hi all, just marking my place on the new thread :).

Not much happening at this end, but have felt the baby kick a few times in the past week or so - v hard! It's a new sensation for me, as placenta was anterior with ds & didn't feel him v much throughout the entire pregnancy (and it was always more like shuffles and stretches than kicks!)

17+6 today, can't believe how quickly time is going - nearly halfway!

I'll do my best to catch up with the thread over the next couple of days. Hope you are all doing ok x

TotallyEggFlipped · 30/01/2013 05:57

orangebubbles I'm still running, but not as far and much slower than I was before. I lost a bit of fitness in the first few weeks when I felt really tired & sick, so I'm now only running about 6-7k 3 times a week. I'm hoping to keep going as long as possible though.

Cheeseandbread · 30/01/2013 07:16

Thanks for pushchair info dinky.

It's Wednesday- almost half way through the week! So tired , normally at work by now but finding it hard to leave the house today.

Hope everyone has good days.

photographerlady · 30/01/2013 07:46

Morning all. Thanks for the advice on work I am going to give it a couple of days and see if my boss gives me a proper review.

DH made up some amazing breakfast. Ok it was egg and soldiers the same thing I had for dinner the two nights before but can't help it I'd have it three times a day of I could. I know part boiled eggs aren't idea for pregnancy but that's one rule I am finding tough. I only buy red lion stamped eggs which are meant to be better but it's hard to give up the dipping.

photographerlady · 30/01/2013 07:48

geez lots of phone based errors there its far too early.

MightBeMad · 30/01/2013 08:27

I'm envious of those still running. I was doing about 20km a week until 9 weeks but a doc friend convinced me to stop due to the extra stress it puts on a pg woman's pelvic floor. I had a rough delivery last time (epi, forceps, tearing) and she persuaded me that for a few months it's worth it to give up and do everything I can to ensure I come out the other side of this pg with my continence in tact Blush. So I'm sticking with the gym, buggyfit, pregnancy exercise DVDs and now I seem to have stopped bleeding, I'm going to get in the pool too.

BB01 · 30/01/2013 08:59

Good to hear others are still running and impressed with the intensity! I haven't been out as much as I wanted to as finding my commute so absolutely exhausting - 40 mins fast walking a day with a bit of train and driving thrown in - which used to feel like nothing! Aiming for few miles twice a week but often it's just once. Still, even once makes me feel physically and mentally better and really want to keep it up at some level for as long as poss as would love to have it as a bit of 'me time' once baby's here. Also trying to do some muscle exercises/yoga/pilates at home. MightBeMad, sounds like you're doing loads still and it's good to do a variety too. Probably better for you physically, too. Have you tried ante natal aquaaerobics? Keep thinking about trying it out but it seems such an effort to get myself and swim stuff ready, drive 25 mins to nearest place that does it and faff about in changing rooms when running just involves getting kit on and leaving house!!

flyingsprocket · 30/01/2013 09:13

I'm really missing jogging & cycling. As I'm still bleeding I've been told walking is all I can do. They have even suggested that if it stops perhaps jogging is too high impact. I have a stand so I can use my bike indoors but its not as fun.

I feel your boredom trustissues I've been trying to enjoy taking it easy & telling myself I won't get this time back. I'm a pilot & can't fly while I'm pregnant so I'm missing that too.

Sounds like another moany post from me! I'm not moaning though!

Loving the talk about cloth nappies- I'm interested but don't know where to start....

Oh & photographer I'm still eating runny eggs with soldiers too. I've developed a weird dislike of eggs anywhere but from my kitchen though!
