congrats brugs and eagle
having a horrible time here with a jaundiced baby still in hospital and have had no sleep at all as ive been running around feeding and expressing and dealing with drs etc. In for at least another night, probably longer Sad

SpringFlowers · 03/02/2013 08:50

That sounds lousy Glorious. I don't know very much about jaundice, what do you have to do to improve it?

woody2313 · 03/02/2013 09:06

It's boy! Joseph was born at 12.40 this morning after 10.5 hours of very painfulinduced labour. He's gorgeous - very long, brown hair, big hands and feet, 9 lb 3! He swallowed a load of meconium as he was born so is currently on the neo-natal ward but is breathing by himself and is absolutely fine. DH and I are totally besotted already! Have not had a wink of sleep - obviously starting as I mean to go on!

Bunny222 · 03/02/2013 09:33

Congrats woody love the name. Hope little one is doing ok and you can go home soon.

Hope ur all doing ok. Am struggling with breast feeding, both the technique and now milk is in the pain of my boobs. Absolutely love our little baby I cant believe what a wonderful thing it is to have them here.

Will write birth story when on computer, mine was a really long one :-/

Good luck to those left to go! Xx

Tugstonia · 03/02/2013 11:41

Congratulations to bunny, woody, brugs, glorious and eagle and thinking of salt and katolla, hope you are snuggling your babies now.

I have really struggled with breast feeding too and found the pressure to feed every 3 hours in hospital v tough. I ended up having to manually express colostrum which took me an hour to get 0.5ml and made my nipples raw. My wonderful community midwife suggested nipple shields because I have v flat nipples and they have been a godsend. Baby is now guzzling away. Still quite sore but am persevering.

I've updated the list for Woody and have deleted all the 'still waiting' list. Lots of those ladies must have had their babies by now but not been posting. As we have new announcements we can just add them to the arrived list so it doesn't take up so much space. Hope no-one minds!

Congratulations Woody! Any news Salt?

Tugs - breastfeeding does really get easier. I had a day of nipple shields early on to help my poor shredded nipples recover. Two weeks on and things are much, much better. It sounds like you're doing really well to persevere.

Seth James was born at 7.20am on 29th weighing 7lb 13ozs, was a quick 6hour labour and very intense. Was 6cm dilated by the time I got to hospital! Would highly recommend the birthing ball, am convinced me bouncing on that all Monday evening did it! Had a massive bleed at midday and had to be kept in, lost 1.5 litres of blood. Managed to get home on Thursday night, just starting to feel back to normal and well again now! Hope your all ok, congratulations to all new arrivals and best wishes to all those still due!

glorious · 03/02/2013 16:43

congrats on all the new arrivals.

jaundice means being in an incubator with a special light and extra fluids. At first I was able to use almost entirely expressed milk and carry on feeding fairly normally, but as she wasn't getting better she needed more time in the incubator so I agreed to limit breastfeeding and add formula. She hated the incubator and it was tearing me in two not to be able to cuddle her when she cried. She has just come out this afternoon and it's like meeting her all over again Grin Also now ok to breastfeed on demand without top ups. Next tests at 12 to see if she's still ok, I am desperate for her to be.

woody that sounds really horrible for you both, I so hope you are also out of there soon .

salt1 · 05/02/2013 08:15

Florence Beatrice was born yesterday by emergency c section. still in hospital and have been here since Wednesday. the whole experience from beginning induction, attempted vb (heart rate dropped (Flossie's) and she needed blood taken from her head for analysis while she was still inside me and there was merconium in waters. Flossie is great but will never do this again

SpringFlowers · 05/02/2013 09:08

Salt - congratulations, a lovely name! Sorry you're feeling a bit 'never again ish'. It's ok to feel like that after such an ordeal, if sounds fierce. If you had another baby you'd be offered a planned section so you would have a different experience to this time. For mow thiugh just enjoy your lovely baby girl xxx

Tugstonia · 05/02/2013 10:50

Congratulations Salt, I've been thinking about you. So glad your lovely baby girl is here safely and wish you a very speedy recovery, sounds like you had a terrible time. Xx
