Baby Amber Rebecca was delivered by emergency c section yesterday at 5:01pm weighing 9lb1.
It was all very traumatic and scary! She is doing fine I'm not so fine though after losing too much blood. I will post my birth story when I can get to the laptop.

Good luck to everyone still waiting. The end is in sight (even though it may not feel like it).

I'm sorry tugs. It really can't be much longer now and your lovely baby will be here.

Sorry to hear about your traumatic time milkand2sugars. I'm glad that Amber is doing ok and I hope that you get better really quickly.

I've just been for a long walk and some chocolate fudge cake (sure that's as effective as curry/pineapple/raspberry leaf tea!).

Hi ladies, it's a bit of a last minute thing but can I join you for some moral support?this is my second dc, expecting a ds who will be called Seth James. Was due on 17th but nothing so far apart from bh stopping and starting in the last 2 weeks. Feeling very frustrated as dd was born at 38+6! Im due to be induced on wed and dreading it. Feel so sad about it. Was bouncing on my ball last night, had a bloody show this morning and some almighty pains but it's stopped again. Torn between trying to keep as active as possible and just resting/slobbing about and stuffing my face! Feeling so sorry for myself!

Second pessary seems to have done jack shit. Massive lower back ache again but no contractions. Just had a despairing moment and am eating a kitkat or 10 to cheer myself up. If nothing happens by tomorrow I'm refusing a third pessary and will ask for a c section. Is it true that by law you now should be able to get one if you ask? I read that on another thread.

I'm delighted to announce the arrival of Thea Alexandra on 27th Jan at 5.52am, weighing 8lb 12oz. She arrived after nearly two weeks of stop-start contractions (take heart, gem) but when she finally made her decision she was with us in less than three hours. Phew. I am still trying to get my head around the speed of it, but labour was a lot less of an ordeal than I had been fearing. Best of luck to all those who are waiting.

I was wondering why noone had posted on the old thread! I assumed you were all off being in labour!! Good luck tugs i dont know about the rules about c sections so im no help.

Hey gem and tugs, I'm with u in spirit girls. 41+4 today, due to have balloon catheter induction on Thursday. Also wondering if my body will play ball and do what it's supposed to. Waiting is the worst, am also fluctuating between long walks and slobbing with chocky. Sending good vibes that things happen soon!

Nice to catch up after being off the radar for a few days.
Samuel arrived weighing 3.87 kg on the 26th at 4pm, after an induction on Friday lunchtime. I needed the propess then an oxytocin drip (with epidural!!) then a forceps delivery as his head was not coming down right. We'd already decided to go to theatre for a trial of forceps and were just getting set up when he got very distressed, so they were able to get him out in super quick time as everything was to hand. I was really impressed with the care I received. He was better really quickly, and we're now home, and i'm getting used to his desire to feed non stop! He's utterly gorgeous!

Congratulations Pixel! My baby fed non stop at the start too, it helped my milk come in quickly and get my supply going. Exhausting at the time but it served a purpose. Things have settled down a bit now thankfully.

I'm thinking of Tugs - I'm hoping that she is snuggling her baby now. Good luck to those mums left to have their babies. It's hard having an edd at the end of the month on mn I think.

tugs I hope this is no longer relevant but it's the NICE c section guidelines that say you should be able to choose one in the first place if that's what you want. There's also a specific reference to it in their induction guidelines where induction isn't working (section 8.2 of the full version, p77). Basically it says you can have another go at induction if clinically appropriate or opt for a section.

Finally managed a sweep this morning, off for a walk now. Fingers crossed.

just back from consultant appointment and being induced tomorrow at 9am. i really did not want labour to start this way and am struggling to be positive. had sweep that was painful also.

For those that might be facing induction over the next few days I just wanted to quickly let you know I was planning a water birth at home so was gutted when 40+12 came around after 2 sweeps, reflexology etc. However the MLU were able to break my waters and Sophie was born 4 hours later; I don't feel at all disappointed now, the experience was really positive. I had built the whole induction thing up in my mind but this experience was way better than the spontaneous labour with DS1. Luckily I didn't need any other intervention, just a little kick start and active labour was only 1hr 13 so no time for the pool again, but never mind. Good luck to all those playing the waiting game, you'll have your babies very soon

That's really reassuring cejay, it is really getting to that stage for me. I hope to report such a positive experience back here in a couple of days. Trying to stay relaxed but active, quite the challenge.

Thanks cejay that's really encouraging. I guess the only thing I can predict about labour is that it's unpredictable!

thinking of all my EDD buddies, and others overdue

so 12 hours of contractions got more frequent (3 to 4 mins apart for hours) and painful enough to make me sick and now they've all but stopped. Feeling very sorry for myself.

its at least something glorious. Do you have an endpoint/hospital intervention date set up? Apologies if you posted before, have only checked back this page. Didn't realize you were due on 18th too! Hope you're feeling OK despite all this waiting.

Have been up each hour all night with DS (2.5yrs) who has terrible cough and wheezing. Thank goodness for ibuprofen and paracetamol alternative dosing, at least he gets a little sleep.

Thursday night, so a fair way off yet. If they'd stop properly I'd feel better as I could get some sleep...

Delighted to say that our baby girl Ottilie arrived this morning by c section weighing 8lb 3 and is so worth the wait! Will post more later but wanted to check in and also say thanks for your good wishes. Best of luck to those being induced xx

My waters broke on Monday at 3am and after a very long labour Benjamin was born on Tuesday 29th via forceps weighing 9lb 8oz! Will write up my story soon. Lost a lot of blood but hopefully going home today. He is wonderful, can't believe he is mine :-)
