well done tugs and bunny, I'm so pleased for you both.

salt I do sympathise, after last night and contractions every 20mins or so today I've run out of energy and I'm probably not dilated at all.But it could be absolutely fine for you.

Congratulations ladies! Lovely names and I'm so pleased your wait is now over!
I'm just back from my first sweep. Have got another booked in on Friday morning if this one doesn't work then an induction booked on Saturday Shock - keeping everything crossed that this first sweep will do enough to avoid any of that other intervention...

February baby it is, then..

Little Maya born 1/2/13 4am 3.6kg, 50cm. 41+6
Went into natural labour around 5pm yesterday, failed epi at hospital at 7.30pm but persisted through v. painful contractions until 1am with gas, then successful epi, oxitocin eventually, she wouldn't come out with natural pushing due to head being in wrong position, forehead first. When her hr went down too low, rushed off to emergency c section, bikini cut.

The anaesthetist was excellent, absolutely no pain in surgery, hubby held my hand and cut the cord
The midwife was amazing and very calm throughout

What could have been a total nightmare was actually a pretty positive experience.

Now breast feeding like a champ and all resting

So happy to report my news!

Congrats DJ! And good luck woody with your sweep. Benjamin is so lovely I cant believe how amazing it is to finally have him here. So worth all the pregnancy trials!

well done dj! Having spent tues night and weds in early labour I finally got far enough to go to the birth centre on thurs morning and had a great labour from there going from 4cm to baby in 6 hours. Pushing was the hardest thing I've ever done though and baby had her hand by her face so I did tear. No name yet but she's a lovely girl and a respectable 7lbs 6 x

Have actually had 3 now (had a bonus one from a student midwife - ouch!) and nothing has happened so bracing ourselves for hours at the hospital tomorrow as I get induced. At least we'll meet baby soon ??

Ahhh salt! No more contractions for me thanks very much! I've never experienced anything like it, and hope to never again. The midwife convinced me of an epi by saying they could go on for 12 hours more!

Another arrival. Our boy arrived just before 2am this morning.

I went into labour on Wednesday evening and headed to the MLU in the early hours of thurs morning. I'd hoped to stay there but by late morning I hadn't progressed as far as expected, was violently sick and knackered as I'd not had any sleep, so decided to go for an epidural. Unfortunately even though I was still contracting I didn't progress and baby turned so back to back and i went for a caesarian, which was pretty straight forward.

Our boy is beautiful, 6lb 10oz and a tiny little thing. No name decided as yet.

I'm really sorry salt, that's very tough. I had several days of latent labour which is obviously different but I felt quite hopeless and that the baby would never come. she did of course and was all worth it (though I didn't get that rush of love straight away, just relief!).

Massive well done to brugs

Thanks for the sterling work on the stats woody. I'll try to do an update or two when I finally get out of hospital, hopefully later today.

Hi - sorry for hideously late post - went into labour last Saturday and after a fairly hideous time, baby popped out on Monday afternoon weighing 8lb 12oz. She is gorgeous, no name yet but working on that.

Had problems with PROM, then meconium (both were a matter of debate as to whether they existed so lots of to-ing and fro-ing regarding birth choices, monitoring etc) but ended up not having HB, and instead v medicalised birth with pethedine, epidural, induction then forceps and episiostomy.

Baby has had a bad tongue tie too, which we have only just got sorted out and meanwhile had v bad weight loss. We seem to have turned a corner now though (thanks to gruelling feeding regime) and am feeling almost human today.

She is utterly worth it and just so beautiful - good luck to those of you still waiting Smile
