A lie down sounds good. Although I have just had a roast dinner, so will needs loads of pillows to prop myself up with.

Librarina · 18/03/2013 07:54

Can I have some bravery this morning? I have to speak at a conference and whilst normally I'd be fine, this weekend Bump decided to learn how to do 'squirming' so now I get strange alien rolls across my belly which you can see from the outside! I just have this vision of standing at the podium half way through my presentation when all of a sudden my stomach starts lurching and leaping and I have to stop because it makes me giggle! Not very professional is it?

Jojobump1986 · 18/03/2013 08:16

Grin You'd be surprised what people let you get away with as a pregnant lady. If it does happen, pause, put your hand on your belly & look slightly concerned before apologising & carrying on. Everyone will be terrified that you're about to go into labour & will be impressed by your professionalism in continuing! Wink I'm sure it'll be fine. The baby will probably sleep through anyway! Let us know how it goes.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 18/03/2013 08:21

Ooh good luck libra I'm sure it never looks quite as bad as we think it does. either that or I work with some extremely polite teenagers (which I don't) I'm not sure I can assist with the giggling though.

bringonthetrumpets · 18/03/2013 14:04

Good luck! I'm sure babe will sleep through the presentation and then go crazy from your little adrenaline surge after you're done :)

Lorelei353 · 18/03/2013 15:42

Oh Librarina how'd it go? I totally relate. Mine is beginning to roll across my tummy now too. It's so funny. I sit on the couch and watch it in the evenings.

Sounds like quite a few have been having a tough few days. I thought I was getting off lightly until miserable head cold struck (sniff). It's not too bad but made me fairly miserable over the weekend which was annoying as it was the first weekend in ages that DH and I had to just chill out together on our own.

Got my 28 week appointment tomorrow but with my cold I'm guessing they won't give me the whooping cough jab. Think I'll have to see my GP next week anyway to get a fit-to-fly letter before I go to Ireland for Easter so hopefully they can do it then.

bringonthetrumpets · 18/03/2013 16:15

Update: I'm still getting kicked to death in the hoo-ha. I'm going crazy and am desperately scrubbing the floors, tipping myself upside down and following spinningbabies.com's crazy positions to try to get this kid off my cervix. It's not working. I feel like crying out of pain and frustration. Angry

kittykatsforever · 18/03/2013 17:16

Bring I'm totally with you!!
Feet in fanjo does not a happy kitty make.
How did you get on lib? I'm sure from a distance it's not noticeable, I think it's because we can feel it so much you think everyone else must see, hope bubs slept for you
Good luck with mw app lor, sorry about cold, I've my whooping cough jab tomoz and not looking forward to it!
His are you feeling today frus

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 18/03/2013 17:51

i was feeling less stressed, And considering seeing a mw tomorrrow to get my blood pressure checked and make myself worry less.
But I am definately stressed now and have a ton of stuff to try and sort out tomorrow instead. Sad
I'm off to stick my head in a bucket of freezing cold water and scream at the unfairness and cruelty that is in my dds life

Librarina · 18/03/2013 18:28

Well I was fab! (If I say so myself). I told stories to a roomful of delegates and made them all join in. Bubs was lurching away beforehand but as soon as I got up there i didn't notice it at all.

Lazy tea and a DVD as a reward then MW appointment tomorrow.

Much love to people feeling stressed, tired and poorly. I recommend Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Alphabetti on Toast to heal all ills.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 18/03/2013 23:30

Yay libra I am very pleased for you. Grin

bring how about slouching on the sofa? if you've tried all the useful stuff and its not worked I guess I could be time for the lounging about trick?
But I suppose you can look on the bright side, at least you are being reminded you have a fanjo, because if you're anything like me, it's a struggle to see anything lower than the bump.

Hmm, angry-pregnant-woman is back and will not be taking any prisoners. Might as well use this excuse to kick some butt whilst i still can Wink

Not feeling too bad today, headache that threatened all morning stayed away, and no numbness today either. I haven't been sick and the period pain type feeling I had earlier must have been wind, since its gone away since I farted Grin Wink

kittykatsforever · 19/03/2013 06:43

Well done lib Grin
So have we got any dates to finish work yet? We're getting closer ladies
Frus, glad you just had wind Grin not a sentence you expect to be saying lol
Who is on the end of your angry lady antenie?? Hope dd is ok, can't imagine the daily struggles you guys have to go through!
Busy day today for me, going to see a friends newborn this morning, then dd swimming lesson oh the lucky people who get to see me in a bikini Wink then whooping cough jab and supermarket, what a rock and roll life I live

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 19/03/2013 07:31

Grin kitty. I am counting down the weeks until I finish work.
Your day sounds very rock and roll, I certainly don't fit so much in on a weekday.
I need to do a little bit more digging around before I kick butt today, because I think something that should not have been happen has been happening for longer than suggested.

Librarina · 19/03/2013 07:44

Noooo! Stupid Lib! I forgot to catch my wee this morning...now frantically drinking water before my MW appt!

I'm looking at finishing on May 14th, which is a Tuesday and I'll be 36.5 weeks. DH would like me to hang on a little longer but it's a 30 mile commute each way and I fear I won't be able to reach the steering wheel!

OP posts:
FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 19/03/2013 08:42

Who's carrying this baby lib you or DH? I'm stopping the same week and I have 1/3 the commute you do.

Librarina · 19/03/2013 09:03

You're right Frus and I am, of course, getting my own way. It's just I can see his point that the later I leave it, the more time Ill have with the baby when it comes. My mum reckons I should finish at Easter so I have 'time to prepare' (read 'Have lunch with her). Everyone has an opinion when you're expecting.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll al be delighted to know that I finally need a wee so I can get out of bed and go to my MW appt!

OP posts:
FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 19/03/2013 09:14

I am delighted that you wee-d lib I seem to need to go at least 4 times before I leave the house in the morning, probably because of the number of times I go during the night and top up my fluids at the same time

I reckon 3-4 weeks youve given yourself is plenty of time to prepare, and more time after is preferable, but not to the extent that you are totally worn out before baby is here. And plenty of time for lunch with mum once baby is here. Wink

Comment of choice from people here seems to be "you can't have long left" closely followed by "when are you going on leave" I seem to find myself replying with "ages" and "not for a while yet" Grin --but I don't believe in telling the due date to people as neither of mine have ever arrived when due, a bit like public transport. Grin

Jojobump1986 · 19/03/2013 09:27

Just don't go having the baby on public transport Frus! Wink

I finally got round to filling in my maternity allowance forms yesterday! I discovered that you're allowed to work up to 10 days during that period to 'keep in contact' which means I can start mat leave earlier than I expected - I have something booked for the last Saturday in May so thought I wouldn't be able to start mat leave until after that. I've effectively been on sick-leave for most of the pregnancy so I'm pretty much just going to be moving from one type of leave to the other! I love being self employed! Smile

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 19/03/2013 09:44

Morning jojo definately no chance of a public transport baby here. I bet you're relieved about Mat leave then. (I now understand the point of contact days)

Lorelei353 · 19/03/2013 12:40

librarina how'd your mw appt go?

I had mine this morning. All looking/sounding good - uterus measuring exactly what it should be and little heartbeat sounding strong. Midwife seemed happy, even though the baby kicked her while she was trying to listen to the heartbeat. Drank my Lucozade this morning which is not a good start to the day with no proper breakfast but she took all her bloods and gave me my anti-D. She said GP will do whooping cough jab at next appt. (31/32 weeks). She did give me my fit to fly letter though which saves me having to go to GP next week before I fly to Ireland.

All in all a good morning!

bring how's your hoo-ha? I'm trying to remember the tips from my yoga classes about how to get babies to turn. Lots of sitting on a ball if I recall as well as hip circles while down on all fours.

Frus you feeling better?

bringonthetrumpets · 19/03/2013 13:34

Hehe, my hoo-ha is feeling much better! I don't want to jinx anything she turned around last night. I shoveled the snow on the drive (yay, another 2 inches Hmm) scrubbed the floors on my hands and knees and then tipped my poor self upside down on an ironing board propped on the couch for 15 minutes and she finally decided I had messed with her enough and moved her little stubborn butt to the UP position. I will gladly take jabs to the ribs over jabs to the fanjo ANY day.

Good news on the midwife appts, ladies!

I don't say the "due date" either. I just say "early June" and then they take a double-take at the bump and say "WOW, you're gonna get huge". And that's when I want to punch them in the ovaries/testicles and walk away. Grin

Librarina · 19/03/2013 13:46

MW appointment was lovely! Bubs is the right size and Very Active (again), she wrote in my notes 'Mum is looking and feeling well' which I thought was nice of her (but mainly because I had plenty of blusher on and http://uk.accessorize.com/view/product/uk_catalog/acc_5,acc_5.9/3870869900 lovely new scarf!)

Also got my MAT1B so I am now OFFICIALLY pregnant! Yay!

OP posts:
kittykatsforever · 19/03/2013 13:57

Yeay for being officially pregnant lib lol
Congrats on good mw apps the pair of you and congrats bring, I havnt done the ironing board thing because wasn't sure how I'd stop it sliding, there was a vid with a women who put her legs on the chair and lifted bum in the air and put 3 cushions under and stayed like that for 15 mins so I did that, how will I know if she's turned as I'm worried ill flip her back again if I can get her to budge, as she puts her legs up and down its hard to tell, could do with you around here bring!!
Lol at your punch in nether regions lol, I'm still getting the oh arnt you small and neat but I feel massive!

Lorelei353 · 19/03/2013 14:19

Oh, I got my MatB1 too so I'm also officially pregnant! Yay. Put it in internal post to HR when I got in so I don't lose it.

bringonthetrumpets · 19/03/2013 14:38

I just shoved a few pillows under the part on the floor and very awkwardly crawled up there.

You can generally tell where the head is by feeling around yourself! Start at the top of your bump and just start feeling for the harder parts. If it feels very hard, round, and you can easily move it back and forth (ballotable) that's the head. If it feels more solid, it's not moving back and forth as easily, and sometimes you can feel smaller lumpy parts, that's the butt/back/knees or feet. As you can tell, I'm a huge Gail Tully fan (okay, as a student midwife, I'm in love with her) this page is pretty cool to help you figure out your baby's position: Belly Mapping
