Blimey, I go for a sneaky nap and when I come back everyone is all official and matb1-ed up.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 19/03/2013 20:37

Aah heartburn.

My ironing board definately wouldn't survive if I lay on it. Grin

Woo, my spending spree is almost over.
mil is getting us a carrycot for the buggy. which rules out the need for a Moses basket and strangely enough DH agrees finally that a carrycot is a good idea. I'm still slightly in shock. And my mum has said she's getting either a playgym or bouncy chair.

Jojobump1986 · 20/03/2013 00:27

Grin Just tried that bump mapping thing. Pretty sure DS2 is breech at the moment. I'm basing that on the bulge that I'm getting near my ribs coupled with the hoo-ha kicks. I mentioned said HHKs to DH to which he responded "when he steps on the pothole"! Don't know whether to laugh or be offended!

I'm not convinced by the bump mapping though - I'm currently getting prodded in so many different places that I'm beginning to expect an octopus to appear in June!

bringonthetrumpets · 20/03/2013 02:30

LOL! Oh my goodness. That's totally something my Dh would say as well. Nice abbreviation as well. I shall adapt the HHK from now on.

It's still a bit tough because they're still small and can wiggle into all sorts of positions. It gets more reliable when we are further along, but at least it's one way to help you determine baby's position.

I had a melt-down-what-was-I-thinking moment in the shower tonight. Starting to feel fed up with being pregnant, still have what seems like eternity to go, weather is just dragging everyone down, bla, bla, bla. I just had a good cry and now I think I can cope again. I really really could have done with Wine after that whole episode.

kittykatsforever · 20/03/2013 08:14

Grin At HHK must admit I had as much joy with baby mapping as Jojo, couldn't figure it out at all and think dd2 getting really pissed off anoyed with me priding and jiggleing her all the time, no idea where she is nowHmm

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 20/03/2013 13:18

I'm refraining from baby mapping. Knowing my luck I'll poke him in they eye or something.
I can safely say though that there is some bodily part trying to squeeze under my ribs when I sit down.

bringonthetrumpets · 20/03/2013 15:34

So, speaking of belly mapping: I'm heading to a midwifery conference in 2 weeks where Gail will be teaching a seminar and she needs a bump model to draw on for her class! Eeek! I just emailed her, so I'll totally take a picture with her and my painted bump (hopefully, fingers and toes crossed!!) and post it on here. Grin.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 20/03/2013 16:47

How exciting bring! I hope she picks you.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 20/03/2013 19:27

If you're feeling like its dragging It could be worse ladies.
There are worse gestation periods. Grin

A walrus - 15mths
Sperm whale - 19mths
Elephant - 2 years
A black alpine salamander - 2-3 years.

kittykatsforever · 20/03/2013 20:02

Non of those are animals I really want comparing with frus Wink

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 20/03/2013 20:57

Not comparing like that kitty Grin I don't think any of us are comparable to a salamander they are just freaky, More that it feels like its dragging (i am definately starting to feel fed up with sleeping with my belly) I was trying to make myself feel better, but could you imagine being pregnant for 2-3 years! Shock

Librarina · 21/03/2013 07:44

I feel like some kind of elephant whale today. Funnily enough my lovely midwife said that she doesn't tell expectant women which way up their baby is lying at this stage cos there is so much scope for spinning around still, but for info, my kicks are all to the right of my belly button, and she found the heartbeat to the left and down a bit. My HHKs have desisted for which I am glad as they bloody hurt!

I got a phonecall from Lovely Midwife yesterday as my haemoglobin results are 'borderline' telling me to eat more steak, spinach and apparently, fish fingers! So I'm following that advice to the max!

Your baby position sounds just right then lib, part of me wished my mw didn't say anything but I think it's possibly because as a second timer I won't see her Untill 34wks now ( late for me as dd was born at 37wks) but the first thing the scan lady said at my 4d was oh another breech baby lol it was hard to miss!! Did anyone have a look at the pic I put on my profile, you can see her feet right up by her face
Fx you get to be the model bring, it sounds really good fun!
Anyone else had their whooping cough jab? No side affects here but arm is still tender to lie on or lift up
Wonder how pear and merry and blending are, have we scared them off looking like whales and elephants etc lol

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 21/03/2013 12:51

Can't see your profile kitty you're not clickable.
I'm not having whooping cough jab, so get to escape from the sore arm.

kittykatsforever · 21/03/2013 13:28

Sorted, don't know why it had gone to private, you lucky thing frus, I did sides scape that nasty flu jab though, just couldn't face the thought of being ill

bringonthetrumpets · 21/03/2013 13:49

Got an email from Gail- I'm in! Woo! Looks like she aims to paint as many pregnant bellies at the conference as she can. Should be fun!

Yep, kitty that's definitely a little foot up there. I love those little cheeks!

Baby sounds like it's in an excellent position, Lib! We love those left occiput anterior babes, easy to push out Wink.

Hmm, sperm whale....yeah I'd say that's what I'm feeling like these days.

Jojobump1986 · 21/03/2013 14:05

I did a v good impression of a tortoise just now! I made the mistake of lying down on my back on the floor at the top of the stairs where there wasn't space for me to roll over so had to try & sit up straight off my back. I won't be doing that again!

That conference sounds really exciting bring! Can't wait to see the picture!

Librarina · 21/03/2013 16:15

JoJo sweetie, why were you lying down at the top of the stairs? Are there not better places to lie, like on the sofa in front of the tv, or in bed with a plate of biscuits?

Trumpets I am a bit jealous of you having your tummy painted and not in a scary Mariah Carey way.

Well two lovely things have just happened - I've negotiated 4 day working weeks until I go on Mat Leave, and my boss has told me that I'm well regarded in the service and that there will definately be a role for me when I come back (there was a risk I might have to do something different due to all the public sector cuts) so hurray, I get to carry on talking to people about books!

I'm so happy that I'm going to spend the afternoon and practice saying 'left occiput anterior baby'! Which just sounds awesome!

OP posts:
Jojobump1986 · 21/03/2013 17:57

I swear, it seemed entirely logical at the time! I'd just been to the loo which is by the top of the stairs & wanted to call DH quickly before going for a nap so I sat on the top step because DS was already asleep in our bedroom. While I was talking to DH, DS2 decided to really push on my ribs so I lay down to give him more space! I'd have quite happily stayed there for my nap if DH hadn't forbidden it!

bringonthetrumpets · 21/03/2013 22:40

Well ladies, I went and bought myself a new shiny maternity support belt. Feels like heaven on my poor aching hips. Anyone else got one of these contraptions?

kittykatsforever · 22/03/2013 08:12

My sis had one bring so I used it sporadically last time, but I never had any problems last time, this time with the sciatic pain I found it made it worse so havnt attempted again, they do make you feel very supported though don't they, had terrible pain yesterday then this morning fine again?! So strange!
Love the turtle story Jojo I can just imagine

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 22/03/2013 08:37

I had one from the physio 1st time around. Which helped with spd. But I haven't had spd since.
I found nothing helped with sciatic pain with dd2, but that eventually went by itself after dd2 was born.
I have turtle moments in bed when I've wedged myself tightly in with cushions and then realise I need a wee, it certainly take a while to get up. Grin I have visions of the kitkat advert every time.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 22/03/2013 08:42

Ooh and to add to my random symptoms I have a swollen throat. Dr google tells me it's due to acid reflux. Nice. for once dr google makes sence, as its worse after I'm sick

Lorelei353 · 22/03/2013 10:12

Hey Bring what kind of one do you have? Can you post a link? I hadn't considered getting one but I actually might. Beginning to feel pretty heavy and my pelvis/groin area is feeling really stiff and sore. Maybe this would help?

bringonthetrumpets · 22/03/2013 13:01

I got this badboy. I tried a few others on and that was the only one that didn't feel scratchy or bunchy on my skin.....although we'll see what it's like in the summer!
