Morning everyone Smile

That's awesome news - congratulations amidwife! Grin

I went a bit mental this morning blaming the hormones and bought a nursing chair and stool that I had spotted on one website for £300 and then found on sale for £95. It's perfect and exactly what I want.

I know it's way too early but I'm not superstitious and if this little one doesn't hold on there will definitely be a next one.

Not sure where we're going to put it in the meantime but never mind!

Kittenkatzen · 27/01/2013 08:47

Oh hetty I'm actually glad you said that - DH has been desperate for us to look for a pram in the January sales. There are loads of good deals around and his reasoning is we could get a brilliant one now, or only be able to afford an ok/good one later in the year. I've been a bit hesitant about it, not because I'm superstitious but because everyone else seems to be! Confused Maybe I'll tell him we can have a look....

And just to kick start today's food conversation, I have 4 words for you this morning....malt loaf and butter. Sticky, fruity, buttery goodness.....mmmmmmm SmileSmile

MeanMrsMustard · 27/01/2013 08:48

Sounds like a good buy though Hetty. Can you link to it?

I bought a maternity dress in the sales but managed to resist anything else.. so far. I've 'chosen' lots of things though!

Here you go MeanMrs (I haven't posted a link before so if doesn't work I'll get DP to do it!

jm233 · 27/01/2013 08:55

We will all still have the summer sale to do our big shopping! But good point kitten, it didn't even occur to me! Yay!

I noticed that I developed a massive sweet tooth over the last few days (dominated by cravings for fruit jelly). I have jelly, shortbread, marshmallows, rice crispies marshmallow squares, meringues with fruit... Can't even look at all the taramasalata I've stocked the fridge with!

HettySunshine · 27/01/2013 08:59

Oh and if you put 'Morrisons' in the promo code box you get a further £5 off. Grin

Dorita75 · 27/01/2013 09:06

Ooo congratulations and how exciting amidwife! I agree with others, a 2 for 1 would be ideal...have already told DP I'm not doing this again based on morning sickness alone, that's without actually going thru labour!!

Morning! Thanks for the stats midwife :) I think the key thing in her case is the twins/triplets! running in the family. At a young whippersnapper of 29 she will breeze through it :)
Talking of food.. Well basically I need to cut back! The scales have gone up every morning for the last 3 days. There is a backlog but not that much-my last 2 pregs I really piled on too much and I want to avoid that this time. I'm hoping that second trimestre, fingers crossed, I can try and pull it back. The problem now is that only carbs sort the nausea.

frogchops · 27/01/2013 09:49

Hi everyone, been away for a while....to cv very cold Prague. Was lovely tho, altho I worried af every twinge on the plane. Came back to my nurse appt and she told me to stop stressing and all would be fine. She also told me I was between 6-8 weeks, but u think its more likely 6. Have an appt with my dr now to sort necessary forms etc. am a bit worried today though as all symptoms seem to have disappeared. This in itself stresses me lots! Anyone else have this around 6 weeks??
Congrats On the twins midwife!! Grin

SpanishLady · 27/01/2013 10:13

Congrats midwife! That's fabulous news!

Just told my dh that a lady on here is expecting twins, I got silence then a sardonic 'twins eh? Well if you're having twins I think you'd manage fine. Which is just as well as I will have died of shock'

Better not be twins then!!!!! Ooh I wonder if anyone else will have twins that would be lovely.

I have re-discovered lady fingers with raisins and mr Kipling.

In other news went to see viva forever (spice girls musical) last night, not sure why the critics panned it was great fun. If you like Mama Mia you should like this!

Wibblytummy · 27/01/2013 10:45

Hello lovely Sep Ladies, gosh I haven't managed to keep up with this thread very well! We had a horrid week, was rushed up to hospital on Thurs due to my side pains by the doctor to be tested for ectopic pregnancy but all is well and bean is in the right place. We had an early scan and we got to see the little heartbeat. Found out I have a tilted womb so not sure what that'll mean in long term and the pain was a grumbling appendix. Phew. Anyway, hope all you guys are well, I've made a cup of tea and am going to try and catch up on all your news!

Peabody25 · 27/01/2013 11:01

Hi everyone, Can I be added please? Had faint BFP 8/1 and EDD 17th Sept. It'll be DC1!

fl0b0t · 27/01/2013 11:06

wibbly that sounds scary, glad you got your scan and all looks good!
midwifecrisis very excited for your twin news :) I hope all goes well.

On the topic of food... I accidently went shopping and tried to only buy things I could face eating. Which involved fish, magnums, salted cheesy snacky things, ready meals (very unlike me!) And non alcoholic ginger beer. People keep saying thant ginger can help but I really really hate it. Ginger beer (ive only ever tried alcoholic versions) is bareable but otherwise I can't stand it, but taking a punt because I need something to help!

juniper904 · 27/01/2013 11:20

Has anybody else had a faster pulse? I downloaded a heart best monitor the other day (to play with, not for pregnancy) and last night when I did it my heart rate was 110 beats per minute! I wondered if the app was off, but dp is a doctor and took my pulse too, and said it was right.

Have obsessively monitored it since, and it fell to 100s, then 90s, and now back to normalish of 80.

Made me freak out a bit! Dp reckons I was dehydrated.

Peabody25 · 27/01/2013 11:47

That should say had faint bfp on 6/1 then proper one on 8/1 so EDD 17th Sept!

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss · 27/01/2013 12:24

For anyone who wants ginger, but doesn't like ginger beer, me can I recommend this it's really lovely, doesn't burn, and is very nice warm on a cold winters evening! It's non alcoholic too.

Also, anyone wanting bargains should check out their local NCT nearly new sales. They are bloody fantastic! There's usually a lot of queuing involved, but if you join the NCT you get in before the general public, and if you volunteer to help, you get to view the stuff before the members! I've been several times as general public and come away with some fantastic stuff, I've got a friend who volunteers, she has bought some really lovely items. Cloting, toys, equipment and furniture! I'm definitely joining this year.

fl0b0t · 27/01/2013 12:42

I'm so reluctant to try ginger flavoured things! Will see how I get on with the Crabbies! I hate everything ginger-ginger biscuits even!

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss · 27/01/2013 13:00

Honestly, if you can get a bottle of the wine, it's really nice. I can't stand ginger beer either, it's really nice.

batfuttocks · 27/01/2013 13:27

Welcome Peabody Grin

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 27/01/2013 14:05

Hello all,

Lovely to keep up with all the good news, so sorry for those who have suffered losses.

I had my booking-in appointment this week with the very lovely midwife. She wasn't the best with the needle though, so I've a bruise most of the way down my arm that I've had to hide when my Dad came round, as I told him I was going to the optician rather than the midwife (he dropped me off but they are in the same building thankfully!)

I have absolutely had enough of feeling sick all the time :( Totally different from my previous pregnancies, which, in fairness were much worse - I was sick at least twice a day. This time I have not actually been sick, but feel nauseous and retch constantly, and everything smells and tastes gross (apart from really, really unhealthy things natch).

I have also been going to bed at 8pm every night and am still knackered all of the time! Is this just my age? I was a young and sprightly 24 when I had DD and 26 when I had DS. I am now 33, and do not remember EVER feeling this tired before. I am a teacher, which is a tiring job, but I was when I had DD, and with DS was a SAHM to a toddler, which was certainly harder!

Anyway, scan date is on my birthday :) and EDD is DH's birthday! (13th Sept), which will be lovely (*fervently crosses fingers that all goes well). Can't wait to tell the kids, DD keeps saying "Mummy, you're so grumpy at the moment!" but when she knows why, I just know she's going to be so excited! :)

juniper904 · 27/01/2013 14:31

mynameisnotmichaelcaine I'm a teacher too. I'm exhausted all the time at work, even though I'm only 6 weeks pregnant. And the kids keep on hugging me full throttle (year 3) and I'm scared they're going to break me!

One complained she was having growing pains the other day... I thought, join the club!
