New thread created in haste before the old one fills up!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 27/01/2013 14:40

LOL! I am secondary, and my form are wonderful, but very "lively", shall we say! Normally, I am totally on top of things (the odd bad day aside), but last week I found myself shouting "JUST SHUT UP!" at them. They all looked like this :O I wanted to say "Sorry guys, but I'm pregnant and I feel like total crap, so just sit there and be quiet!", but couldn't, obv. By the time I'm showing, and they start to be considerate (which secondary kids do in my experience), I'll be feeling better! Ah well :)

fl0b0t · 27/01/2013 14:45

Yikes- this is really the hardest bit. Feeling sh*t and tired and sick and unable to cope with the world and not being able to tell anyone why! I've barely left the house in three weeks!

juniper904 · 27/01/2013 14:47

I'm fearing all of the 'but how did it get in there?' questions, especially as we'll be doing a topic about bodies in the summer! And my dp will be our 'visiting doctor'. If they twig who he is and what he has done to me shoots evil glares in dp's direction then there will be hysteria. Ah, kids.

I was meant to have an observation this week, but had to cancel at the last minute as my morning sickness was overbearing. I ended up telling the Head because she wasn't likely to back down on it otherwise.

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 27/01/2013 15:05

Aww bless. All of my department know, because I feel so shocking, but they're all lovely and supportive anyway.

I am a bit concerned about when the kids at school find out. I have merrily been declaring for many years that I am too old to have another baby, and definitely won't be having any more!

Kittenkatzen · 27/01/2013 17:49

Evening all.

Sooooo, this morning DH and I thought sod it we should check out the sales - it's the last few days so all the final reductions will be on, and even if the worst does happen we're going to need the stuff at some point in the not too distant future. So we went to mamas & papas at purley way. And then came home and ordered online a pushchair....and a car seat....and a bouncy chair ShockBlushShockBlush

We are crazy aren't we?? It won't be delivered for a couple of months though....Confused

juniper904 · 27/01/2013 18:23

Kittenkatzen Do they let you cancel the order if anything were to happen?

Kittenkatzen · 27/01/2013 18:51

Yes we can cancel the order at any point up to 8 days after delivery - which isn't expected until early march anyway. After that we can send the items back for refund if necessary. So we're not stuck with them if we didn't want to be.

Just remembered we also ordered a Moses basket too. We got such a good deal though - the pushchair, footmuff, car seat, Moses basket and bouncy chair all for the same price the pushchair would have been normally.

I know it's not for everyone to do things this early, and if it hadn't been for the amazing deal we wouldn't have done either. But as it is, I'm pretty happy with our decision Smile

jennimoo · 27/01/2013 19:12

Impressed at the shopping! I thought I was getting ahead buying a pushchair on eBay at 18 weeks last time!

I feel rubbish still after this sick bug. Both that and the pregnancy are exhausting me and both affecting my appetite / nausea I'm different ways. And not sure how I'm going to manage at work tomorrow...

And not sure how to explain if anyone asks why my belly is inches bigger than last week despite this noro virus thing, I feel massive!

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss · 27/01/2013 19:29

I'm not shopping yet, but... I have the cutest knitting pattern for baby sized ugg boots, in gorgeous soft lambs wool....Grin
Sad I know, and I can't stand proper Uggs, but these are SOOO soft and warm, way better than bootees!

amiready · 27/01/2013 19:43

Why is it taking so looooonnngg!!
All that's happening is loads of really bad wind.
DH is disagreeing with all the beautiful names I can think of and just wants loads of chavtastic names instead...Sad

fl0b0t · 27/01/2013 19:57

Agreed, it's taking too long. We've not bought anything and I'm hoping to get most things second hand anyway- I'm terrified of how much you can spend on baby gear, and so much of it only gets used for a short time anyway.
jennimoo- I've not had sickness bug, just ms, and I'd already decided by Friday that I wasn't going to make it into work on Monday.

I plan to lie about moaning and complaining :(

MeanMrsMustard · 27/01/2013 20:01

Saggy - you've got me googling cute knitted baby clothes now! Not that I knit, but my mum has just joined her friend's knitting group and is looking for items to knit. She doesn't know I'm pregnant yet, but I might collect a few pics of things I like for when I do tell her. I'll get her to teach me too so I'm not just on the take all the time.

Well done on all your baby purchases. It's great getting a good deal.

Creamtea1 · 27/01/2013 20:05

Totally agree this is the longest few weeks of my life so far!
Really really need to clear my, ahem, backlog - any tips ladies? Seriously have a weeks worth in there and look about 6 months gone!

PurplePoppySeed · 27/01/2013 20:19

Wibblytummy- don't worry at all about the tilted uterus, I have it too and we are 2 of the 20% women with a tilted or 'retroverted' uterus. Ive been told it can be inherited, or as a result of previous gynae issues or after pregnancy. I've had gynae issues but it turns out that my mum has it too, so could be either.

I have been really really sensitive to every twinge in this and my previous pregnancy including being checked for ectopic due to pains on 1 side. I've since been told that is quite common as the uterus will have to move forward during the pregnancy and can lean on your back or be closely connected with the bowel where it starts out.

All a bit scary when they tell you out of the blue and offer no explanation, but I've been assured it won't cause any problems with the pregnancy apart from making early scans a little bit more difficult to do any way other than internal!

I hope that helps a bit?

HettySunshine · 27/01/2013 20:50

On the subject of knitting, there is a wonderful website called www.ravelry.com which has hundreds of brilliant patterns. You have to register but they only ask for the most info.

There are some patterns that you have to pay for but also loads and loads of free ones.

Happy clicking!

LexyMa · 27/01/2013 21:09

My mum has knitted a lot of beautiful things for DS in the past three years from 'Debbie Bliss' using cashmerino yarn. She is just trying to finish a little military-ish cardigan and cant get it right on the collar. She took it into a yarn shop to ask their advice and the lady immediately said that a lot of "these posh new books" have errors in the patterns, and there's a whole website with corrections published/suggested by users.

I have just got a sewing machine and am thinking I could do cot/bedlinen, curtains and cushions maybe not a lot cheaper but definitely unique.

frogchops · 27/01/2013 21:09

Kitten, I had a little look in mamas n papas today too!! Which one did you go for online??

MeanMrsMustard · 27/01/2013 21:55

Ooh, I'll sign up to that pattern website next time im on the laptop Hetty. Sounds good.
Oh, and thanks for linking the nursing chair too. I think it may be the same one I was looking at last week (but a better price). It's lovely!

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss · 27/01/2013 22:12

OMG! I may never leave Ravelry again! I MUST knit this That is my favourite book EVER! Grin

Kittenkatzen · 27/01/2013 22:49

Loving all the home made and knitted ideas - so wish I could do something useful like that!

frogchops we went for the mamas & papas Mylo in welly green / lime jelly Grin

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 27/01/2013 23:49

Unrelated to cuddly baby woollies (about ad unrelated as possible!) this looks like a wonderful gadget! perineal strengthener. Anyone here try this before? Obviously thinking ahead here... :)

jennimoo · 28/01/2013 06:34

Don't fancy the balloon myself! If it works though I suppose it's worth the money.

I knit but didn't manage to start anything until I was in labour with DD last time around! I have a sewing machine though and made curtains, blackout blinds, laundry bag and a thing with pockets to stick to the chest of drawers very quickly and easily. Now I make skirts and trousers as DD is so long and thin. And I made a belly band out of two off DHs old tshirts before I started puking on Thursday!

So if you've been looking for an excuse to get a sewing machine I reckon pregnancy is a great one ;)

jennimoo · 28/01/2013 07:07

Catpuss - what Ugg boots pattern do you have? Sounds very practical.

Zeuxippe · 28/01/2013 08:18

Fretting a bit this morning. Got my bfp 8 days ago using the clearblur conception indicator when I was 16 dpo and it said pregnant 1-2. Not been feeling particularly pregnant so I tested again this morning and it still says the same. Shouldn't it be saying 2-3 or 3+ by now? Any advice would be great, thank you

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss · 28/01/2013 08:58

Apparently CB can be up to ten days out! Can you see the do for and ask for a rising hCG test? This is done twice to see if your hormone levels are rising properly. I had it done early on because of some spotting. Waiting the 2days is pants, but the results are very reassuring!
Jenimoo I don't know, but I bought it from my local wool shop and it used lambs wool. The wee boots are gorgeous! When I find the pattern ill post a picture.
