Whats the loo roll thing?? I'm curious! i dont know how much weight I've gained, I lost quite a bit in the first trimester because of the hyperemesis but am gaining now, but I havent been weighed at any of my midwife appointments and thankfully dont own scales!! but I do want to know! I saw a friend today who says EVERY time she sees me 'Are they SURE there arent two in there' because she thinks i look huge!

I hope it goes well for you Arabica, let us know ASAP.

Has anyone else gone to their local NCT nearly new sales? We went to one and got SO much stuff, it was great!

Our boy kicks constantly, and REALLY hard. How do you all feel your baby's kicks?

eenywifemum · 08/05/2006 14:52

I havent got any stretch marks yet - but the skin on my bump and breasts is getting these strange sort of... dots all over them! is that normal?!?

lunavix · 08/05/2006 15:04

Am i 8 sheets or 9? I'm on the line connecting the 8th full sheet and the start of the 9th! Thought I'd be much bigger but don't look pg from behind.

And.... my scales say 11st . 04 so is that .4 of a pound? IIRC I started at 10st 4, dropped to 9st7 and am now here... so techincaly thats nearly 12lb? Is that right? I'm not counting how much I've put on since losing weight lol

2labs · 08/05/2006 15:05

Loo roll - is it how many sheets fit round the biggest part of your bump? If so it's 8 for me (coming up to 26 weeks). Think mine's fairly small as bumps go, though apparently the baby's on the large side for the dates - guess it can't have much room in there!

Very envious of BigHotMama's good skin - mine's never been great but so far this pregnancy it's like going back to my worst acne-ridden teenage phase Shock.

Hi to all who were happy to see me and all those who didn't click that i was a Daddy!
Wink
Hi to my little EenyWifeMum too! Hello Honey!

I love being around all you "hormonal nutters" - keeps me sane and on planet Earth.

I started a thread elsewhere, but perhaps you fine ladies can help...
I'm considering the Mothercare 3-Way Carrier for little Alexander when he pops. i really like it but have heard that it's not the best for extended use... anyone have any experience of said item?

Alex's dad, Salamander

Nbg · 08/05/2006 15:12

DON'T GET IT Salamander!!!

It's crap Grin

We bought it for our dd purely so that I could wear it and carry dd in it when the dog needed walking. It seemed a better option than taking the pushchair.
Well it took both dh and I to attach it and get dd in and we would fall out in the process Grin
It's so flippin complicated and not really comfortable when it's on.

I, like others would strongly recommend a sling. I'm sure Lunavix can help you with that one.

burstingbug · 08/05/2006 15:15

9 loo roll sheets @27 weeks btw :)

Nbg · 08/05/2006 15:17

Oh crap I am huge then!

10 sheets at 26 weeks is not the way forward.

Salamander · 08/05/2006 15:20

Nbg,

I really have my heart set on a carrier, rather than a sling - one that faces in from birth, then out and on the back from when he can hold his head up better.

But if the Mothercare one is no good, then i will have to continue looking.

Boo Hoo....
Sad

Nbg · 08/05/2006 15:22

Ok well the BabyBjorn ones are pretty good. They are slightly more expensive than the 3 way. I think they start around £40.

Have a read of the MN reviews that should give you a good idea.

pucca · 08/05/2006 15:24

Guess i beat you all so far! i have just been and checked and i am 11 sheets @ 25 weeks >

Nbg · 08/05/2006 15:24

\link{http://www.mumsnet.com/rev/slings/19.html\Here you go salamander}

Salamander · 08/05/2006 15:25

Nbg,

I've read the MN reviews - and the MC one is on there with a good rating. Which now confuses me...
mind you, it doesn't take much to do that any more...

Don't you think the Baby Bjorn ones are just a bit too bulky?

Salamander

pucca · 08/05/2006 15:26

Saying that though, i am measuring 2 weeks ahead by fundus height and every mw who has had a feel have been quite shocked by the size of the baby!If i carry on like i am (measuring 2 weeks ahead) this baby will be 10lb 2oz @ 39 weeks (when section done)

Nbg · 08/05/2006 15:29

Yes but in hindsight I think thats a good thing. I think that they must have a bit more about them IYSWIM.

I can certainly say I didn't like it but you never know you and eeny might like it.

Do you have a local Mothercare store? I'm sure if you ask they will let you try some out. There is also the baby show at the NEC like BHM mentioned. That would be a great oppurtunity to try products out.

2labs · 08/05/2006 15:29

eenywifemum - re kicks I only feel them about 3 times a day, but especially between 10pm-midnight - always quite low down. They haven't really got any stronger over the past few weeks or anything, don't know if that's normal or not.

Salamander · 08/05/2006 15:38

Hey Nbg,

At your advice, I'm going to have a play down at Mothercare this week I think.
Maybe I can get over my Baby Bjorn-phobia.
Maybe i'll find the same problems you found with the Mothercare one. I don't want false economy!!

Many Thanks,

Salamander

Nbg · 08/05/2006 15:42

No problem. It might be a bit harder for eeny because of the bump Grin but if you try it on eeny can see how the things fix and tie etc.

Eenywifemum, do you ind calling you Eeny? It's much easier for a lazy person like me Grin
I love getting kicks. It's so reassuring and very special (gush gush). Like I said earler in the thread, dd felt it last week and it has done the world of good for her. It's made it seem more real.

purpleturtle · 08/05/2006 15:43

9 sheets at 26 weeks. Somebody commented yesterday that I looked ready! Shock I quite like the embarassment caused when I explain I've got a good 3 and a half months to go. Grin

burstingbug · 08/05/2006 15:49

I seem to get kicked loads at all times. Most uncomfortable when I'm on the bus! Baby also likes to kick when I'm trying to get ds to sleep. I've not been woken up in the night yet, but nor did I with ds that I remember.

Salamander · 08/05/2006 15:50

Thanks Nbg,

Will give that a go.
And i'm sure Eeny won't mind being called Eeny.
I call her that all the time! :)

Salamander

P.S. on a different subject, how are the daddys of all you mummys coping with the impending birth?

Nbg · 08/05/2006 16:18

Hows the physio going PT?

Dh hasn't really mentioned the birth. No doubt he'll get all excited nearer the time like he did with dd.
He was great though, a real support and wanted to know what was going off "down there" Grin

eenywifemum · 08/05/2006 16:46

Hi! No I dont mind being called eeny! Salamander calls me that all the time.

I'm not sure I did it right but my loo roll figure is 6?? I'll have S help me work it out when he gets home from work. I am 23+3days so am a little behind most of you, although the baby is measuring bigger than his age on scans. He certainly kicks like a teenager!

Nbg, I know what you mean about the gushing feeling and letting others feel the movements. There really is nothing like it!

The sling/carrier thing is a pickle... we want to get the right one as it will be used pretty much every day.

2labs - I think what you are describing is normal. This is my first pregnancy but from what I hear every baby is different - I know someone who NEVER felt her baby kick the whole time! I'd be a nervous wreck!

How many of you already have children? This is our first.

sarahlou1uk · 08/05/2006 17:07

Hi. Don't know if any of you 2nd time mums are experiencing same as me but my first ds used to kick quite high up my tummy. This time, my dd (to be) seems to like kicking me low down and especially on my bladder. Can be extremely painful at times - almost like a nipping sensation which I got with 1st but not at this stage (26 weeks), more towards the end. Also, she is inactive during the day but as soon as I lie down to go to sleep at night - she starts. Bloody typical. Anyone else experiencing this?
