Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi - was a case of 3rd time lucky for us with the scan today, although I did have to lie on my side!!

Next growth scan in 2 weeks, then GTT & another growth scan 3 weeks after that. Anyone else having GTT?

I also have PGP - I had it last time, but not until after 30 weeks. It started at about 18 wks this time, but it's getting worse. I also have a sore coccyx, especially at work.

scooby, what an absolute nightmare - can't believe the cheek of your buyers, but well done for managing to sort it out.

We sold our house in the summer - was 5 weeks from accepting their offer to moving out, I think that's some sort of record nowadays!! We weren't in a chain though, and first time buyers were buying their house so that really helped. Also, we built up a relationship with our buyers too, and let them use one of our rooms for storage before completion to make it easier for them - it really helped things move smoothly I think. Very lucky, and not expecting to ever move that quickly again!!

23 + 3

MaybeAMayBaby · 11/01/2013 17:12

scooby glad it seems to be back in track. I hate house buying/selling. We had similar problems 6-7 years ago. I just don't get people backing out so late. After all, they too must have spent a fortune.

pickle glad you're reassured. I was forever at the day assessment unit with DD! But they never seemed to be annoyed and said I was right to come in etc.

Chicken keepers! Love the idea. My PIL want to, but worried about when they went away. They have 2 dogs and we have 2 enormous stupid mutts too. Think they didn't want us to feel obliged. I never knew about chicken hotels though!

Can't remember who asked. Our kitchen is hopefully going to be done over feb. But found out yesterday that the 'friend of a friend' who had done the quote hadn't included VAT. So not such a great deal Sad. Still £1500 cheaper though. But having to find all that cash up front is scary. Especially when I feel like I should be saving. I'm getting a bit anxious about finances. We are so much more better off than last time, so I know I should relax. I get so panicky. My DH doesn't organise any money related thing at all and has no idea so he thinks I'm just finding stuff to moan/nag about.
On a positive-just had first nursery bill since getting 15 hours free (after 3) and its saved £200 a month! That should help. Also wondering if I should take her out of nursery bar the free hours as soon as I go on ML. But worried I'll regret that. Anyone having same dilemma? What have you decided? In theory, the money saved with soon so, and the free hours could be enough to see us trough those last three months unpaid...

Lastly, wanted to say 'Hi' to the newbies. I've found this thread moves really quick, so you'll have a job to keep up if you don't read up daily!

MaybeAMayBaby · 11/01/2013 17:14

Yay for finally getting the checks done for scan, elly!

Gosh. 21+4!

Ellypoo · 11/01/2013 17:59

maybe, are you paying for your kitchen in advance? I would really recommend that you withold some to pay on successful completion - we have renovated 3 houses now, and have various 'issues' with tradespeople, and even the really good ones who we have recommended to others, we have never paid in full upfront. It gives you a bit of bargaining power if they need to come back to finish anything, and with our new kitchen in this house, which was a bespoke, handmade one, we had to get them back to touch up the paintwork slightly and sort some other bits out. Sure you will already be aware, but that's just my experience and advice. So exciting getting a new kitchen though - I love love love mine!!!

Maybe I was in the same position re nursery school and spent some time debating what to do. DD was doing 3 mornings a week before Jan. The 15 free hours has just kicked in, however we have done the opposite. Although I will be on mat leave for a yaer (with no intention of ever going back), we have increased her to 5 mornings a week therefore effectively keeping the amount we pay the same (as nursery 51 weeks a year whereas gov funding is only term time funding). My thinking was it would give her some space and time on her own with her friends without having to always take on the 'big sister' role. She has also flourished since starting nursery and with all the activities (swimming, dance, french etc) onto of maths/phonics etc I think it will provide her the stimulation that perhaps I would not in the first year of having another around. On top of that we are also keeping our 3 days a week nanny until the summer as after a c section I will need the help and my DH works very long hours and no family are near.

SevenReasonsToSmile · 11/01/2013 19:53

elly I'm having the GTT along with a growth scan at 28 weeks, then another growth scan at 34 weeks due to my previous premature labours.

hen my scan isn't until the 23rd but we'll hopefully be finding out. I'm really looking forward to DC3 but wondering how I'll have the energy, especially as DD is only 13 months! We wanted them close though, my brother and sister are 6 and 8 years older, I'm convinced its the reason I'm not close to either of them. I figure if they have a close bond by being close in age it'll be worth a year of so of being exhausted for.

We've given the builders the go ahead for the garage conversion, they can start as soon as its empty so DH will be clearing out the junk on his days off next week. Then we have 2 months of building work to look forward to.

Last night is catching up with me, plus DD has been up with teething at 3am or earlier every night for the past week so I'm feeling pretty exhausted. Off to bed with my new green parent magazine which arrived today and my knitting, night all!

jojo020780 · 11/01/2013 20:37

SevenReasonsToSmile · 12/01/2013 09:38

DD slept until 6.30, I actually feel normal this morning!

ng1412 · 12/01/2013 10:30

We had a bad evening, DD teething severely with her molars, woke up at half 10 and would not let us near her to give her any calpol, was hysterical for two hours until we thought maybe take her downstairs and watch some Abney and Teal (God bless Sky+ and CBeebies!) and she calmed down enough for me to give her some.

Oh and our electricity shorted whilst upstairs soothing her, due to the crap French electrical system we have in our house. So I was sitting with her screaming in the dark while DH tried to negotiate the dark cellar staircase without breaking his neck.

She woke up fine this morning but I am dreading another night of it. Knackered!!

CluelessNewbie1 · 12/01/2013 13:28

Hi everyone, just to let you know we went for a scan this morning and we are having a girl! So exciting. x

Wirrawoo · 12/01/2013 13:58

Yay congrats clueless (not so clueless any more!) :)
Sorry to hear about those teething pains, I guess we have all that to look forward to!
Also sorry to hear about those house selling stresses. It seems like such a short exchange time I'm amazed that those buyers could be so bolshy about it. Sounds like you have it worked out now so fingers crossed it all goes well for you.
Yes to whoever it was who asked (sorry, can't scroll back), we are lucky in that with our odd muso working hours we should be able to share and juggle childcare for the most part (and my mum will help too). He will come along to my rehearsals etc when he can and both of us have agreed that there may be a few sacrifices of tours etc along the way, but we will make it work as best we can. My mum and dad managed it with me so I have good inspiration to work with :) we will go to Australia (my old home) for a few months over next Christmas for combination of work and holiday so being surrounded by family support there and nice accomodation provided by work should also provide some nice relaxed time in the first year. Fingers crossed!!

PandaOnAPushBike · 12/01/2013 14:48

I'm having a bad time the last couple of days. Last night the discomfort was so bad I started to worry it was premature labour (I don't think it is at all but pain can make ones brain go cuckoo). It feels like period pain, except I'm feeling it in my lower back too, and it's a constant throbbing ache. Kept me up all last night.

Until now baby has been lying on his back so kicks and movement was all felt across the top of my bump. Movement is constant, throughout the day. I don't think he ever sleeps. Coinciding with the ache, baby seems to have flipped over. I think this because now all the kicks are down below and aimed inwards. I suspect his current favoured position is somehow behind the problem. :(

rachywhite83 · 12/01/2013 15:20

Panda I'm not feeling great either.

Had a fainting episode in a shop today and have been in bed since. Not sure if there is a problem with my blood pressure. Having headaches and seeing stars when I bend over. Going to get DH to check when he comes in from work. He's a paramedic so has got the stuff to check my blood pressure. Really not feeling right at all but can't put my finger on what is wrong. Baby is moving round and kicking well. Mummy's the one with the problem :(

jojo020780 · 12/01/2013 19:06

shelly oh no, I've decided this boy won't be doing football lol. ng1412 Blimey, you have my total sympathy- hope things are better for you today? clueless wooo congratulations, how exciting! Are you going through names as we speak?! panda omg (I haven't read through all of the posts yet) do you know what's up hun? rachy I get this a lot an they found my iron levels are low- have you checked this out?

well I've just become another victim of the dreaded heartburn. gahh- thought I'd been too lucky! I found the best thing last time was thick custard but I'm stranded at home without transport so fingers crossed it passes tonight xxxxxx

GeordieCherry · 12/01/2013 19:32

Heartburn a-go-go here too Hmm

Chocolate milk, especially soya, does the trick. And thankfully more portable than custard. I now want some custard mind!

SevenReasonsToSmile · 12/01/2013 20:26

rachy let us know how your blood pressure is.

panda hope it improves soon, and the same to everyone suffering with heartburn.

clueless congrats on your girl!

Has anyone decided on any names yet? We have Beatrice for a girl, a boy would probably be James but not certain yet.

Wirrawoo · 12/01/2013 20:32

panda and rachy you poor things, and weirdly... Me too. Think it's low iron or low blood sugar or something, have been massively dizzy and weak all day and pains have been going inwards and low down to the left the last few days. I feel worse when I lie on my back. The baby turned inwards theory makes a lot of sense 'cos he's still kicking away. DP is prescribing steak, tea and rest but please let us know if you find out what it is.
Hey jojo I find milk works really well. Apple too. Odd but works!

FrustratedSycamoreIsNesting · 12/01/2013 22:34

panda I'm getting lower backache at the moment too. How are you sleeping? (what position?) does that make any difference?

PandaOnAPushBike · 12/01/2013 23:26

I'm not sleeping very well at the moment at all. I just can't get comfortable. Baby is still happily kicking away all flippin day so I'm not overly worried, just in a lot of discomfort, although it has eased off a bit over the last few hours. I have an appointment booked with my MW on Monday so I'll talk to her then.

24+4

MaybeAMayBaby · 12/01/2013 23:47

Sorry everyone's having a hard time today. panda I've had similar pains on and off too. But I did last time and everything was fine. Hopefully it'll be better tomorrow.
clueless congrats!

Off to bed x

BeauticianNotMagician · 13/01/2013 09:48

Hi to all the newbies.
Hen I am another one having their third. We are expecting ds3.By the time baby arrives my two will be 7 and 8.

Seven We have got our short list of names down to Tate,Felix,Finley and Jude.

Sorry to everyone feeling faint and ill at the moment.I fainted just before Christmas.Midwife said was more than likely a dip in blood pressure.I haven't slept in a week due to cough but back to work on Tuesday so hoping it clears.

FrustratedSycamoreIsNesting · 13/01/2013 09:54

panda do you sleep with extra pillows? I've got made a pregnancy pillow, with a couple of pillows cases stitched together so I have one under my bump and between legs, and one behind my back to stop me rolling onto my back, as I seem to ache more when I've been sleeping on my back.

seven we may have settled on a name. I've totally gone off the boys names we had as options with dds. But fx we have decided and won't change our minds.

FrustratedSycamoreIsNesting · 13/01/2013 09:58

beaut, hen and seven I'm on dc3 too.

BeauticianNotMagician · 13/01/2013 10:06

Frustrated am I right in thinking you have two dds and will be having a ds this time?Congratulations.

We went shopping yesterday for a friend who's just had a girl to get her an outfit.DP got all excited around the boys outfits and couldn't resist buying a few bits it was lovely to see he was buzzing all day Grin
