Thank you lovely ladies a lot, you really calmed me down before my appointment, I'd really got myself in a bit of panic. Didn't have a scan, but mw checked in with a doppler and she said that he was being a pickle (which I had a giggle about!) and making it difficult to find a heartbeat, but we did and she said that he has wedged himself in a little cosy corner deep within and that he sounded perfect, with lots of movements and great heartbeat. He's just deep within so I can't feel the kicks, but we heard them on the doppler.

So you were all right, and I was pleased to have made the appointment otherwise I'd still be sat here in a mess, which is no good at all.

To reassure others (particularly first-timers like me), mw said it is SO common especially at this stage of pregnancy for them to 'be little pickles' and movements will change and have quiet days - but your maternity ward will always be happy to check over - you won't be considered a fuss-maker, like I thought I was! The lady I saw was SOOOO lovely and put me at total ease.

Beaver just wanted to send you a hug after your ordeal, what a vile person, he'll get his! But you should not beat yourself up, these people are professionals.

Now, to properly catch up with you all, I see Milk has some news to update us...YAY!

shelly81 · 10/01/2013 19:33

Awww yey glad all is ok pickle & you have now had ya mind put at rest xxxx

berri · 10/01/2013 19:42

That's great to hear pickle, glad you can relax now.

Another blue one for the list frustrated! Congrats!

Hi jojo & welcome back aunty

Hope everyone is having a good day - only 1.40pm over here but I guess I should say evening for everyone else!

SevenReasonsToSmile · 10/01/2013 20:10

Hi aunty.

pickle really pleased everything was ok for you and your little pickle! I was looking back at the old threads btw and noticed you mentioned you have chickens too, how many do you have? We have five Sussex hybrids.

Wirrawoo · 10/01/2013 22:20

seven I am in awe of your chickens! we dream of having chickens and a veggie garden one day :) I am a violinist and my partner is a Brass player (also singer/songwriter and pretty fab guitarist). Weirdly we are both 3rd generation musicians but seriously I don't mind in the slightest what our little fraggle ends up doing, just hope it's something that he loves, that makes him happy and fulfilled. That's the only inspiration from our work I hope to definitely pass on (and hopefully a good sense of rhythm!).

pickle so glad everything is ok. Sounds like she was the perfect person to see you for that checkup.

Welcome new people! :)

HenD19 · 10/01/2013 22:20

Hi all. My DCno3 is due 9th May. Already have daughter 5 and son 2. Scared about how I'm going to cope once the baby is here, especially with getting up and out on the school run. Excited too though. Looking forward to sharing our stories

Picklep · 10/01/2013 23:04

Thanks all, so pleased. wirra you're so right, she was very Chummyesque.

seven yay, another chook owner! i have 4 Rhode Island hybrids. I love them, they keep me very entertained. We're off on holiday soon and we are having to take them to a local chicken hotel, already I'm dreading it, they've been anywhere else before, DH tries very hard to make me understand they are just livestock and simply provide us with eggs! But I've named them, they have different personalities, and I'm also a little emotional at this time. The 'hotel' has come recommended by other chicken owners so I'm sure they'll be fine (pleeeeeease). Are yours laying still? Mine have been great, but a lot our friends hens hsve stopped with the colder/wetter weather. I've been treating ours with warm leftover porridge - wow they love it!

Picklep · 10/01/2013 23:06

*they've NEVER been anywhere else .

scooby26 · 10/01/2013 23:07

Evening

Pickle- really pleased all well.

Please can i Rant- not about babies- houses!,

So having been dancing a merry tune to our buyers who only offered on our house mid November ( and then their sols closed for Xmas) we should have been due to exchange tomorrow or Monday which is fairly swift. We dared to suggest that we hold off on final completion for two weeks to save us moving twice and n with parents as our new build isn't ready til mid February...

Their response- we n longer wish to proceed and here's the contract back?!!,

Hmm

We have very calmly approached their solicitors to see what the problem is ( have had concerns re the response speed of my sols to them but obligated by builder to use them ). Only to then get a letter emailed that they will reconsider and exchange if we give them 3.5 k cash up front next week compensation for stress....

Hmmm a very nasty game........ ,( must remember to breathe... )

We have politely declined .... If I had Which i dont, i wouldn't give it.... It's sheer bribery. They have quoted a number of issues such as slowness ( its only been 7/8 weeks inc xmas! ). being called stupid by our estate agent ( and that's my fault?!) and feel compensation is required...

So looks like all off- we have lost £000's pounds with sols fees, searches , mortgage fees (as we had to take fitted wardrobes etc from builder as no one else could do after as specific t build ) so as we'll as house ill have to cut short maternity leave as we had to use savings on Moving bills that would have been replaced out of equity that's now gone. We can't move again as mortgage offer lasts til June and then we can't get new one as n maternity which abbey won't allow ( tied to them ). So extremely unlikely to get new buyer and out by then

Bastards...

OP posts:
cuppateaandagingersnap · 11/01/2013 00:18

scooby that sounds unbelievably shit, tbh sounds like they are unpleasant people mucking you about but also I think your solicitor might be rubbish..... Crap that you're tied to them.
Love and hugs, moving stressful enough at the best of times and you don't need this now especially. Things will work out though, try to stay positive, x

SeaSalt1 · 11/01/2013 01:13

Hi Jojo and Hen and welcome back Aunty!

Scooby - so sorry to hear about your house, that's terrible behaviour from your buyers. I'm no expert but 7-8 weeks with Christmas in the middle doesn't sound slow to me at all, and cash up front sounds like they are holding you to ransom. Grrrr. I hope they come round and change their minds once they realise you are prepared to say no to their (very unreasonable) demand.

Pickle - so pleased everything is ok!

Got to dash now but didn't want to read and run, Scooby - keep us posted as to how it is going...

tasmaniandevilchaser · 11/01/2013 05:04

scooby what a nightmare! They are massively taking the piss, bastards! If they do end up backing down console yourself with evil, thoughts about leaving prawns under the floorboards to stink them out when they move in! In the meantime, take deep breaths.

I am struggling to keep up, so apologies if I've missed any important news, but I'll say

Ng hope amino goes well

Very jealous about the chicken owners, stuck in London flat, no chance of that here

Hi to jojo and hen and welcome back to aunty

Very impressed to whoever saw the impossible, I can't watch the trailer without feeling overwhelmed!

Also very jealous of some people's mat leave, I get 8wks full pay, 16 wks half pay and then 3 mths SMP. Have been saving.

Frustrated congrats on the boy! Another one for the list

And hi to milk and your half man! Long time no see!

I really should go back to bed, woke up with pelvic girdle pain, can't get back to sleep. Anyone else with PGP?

CheerfulYank · 11/01/2013 05:17

I was away but am back...still due May 23rd. :)

ng1412 · 11/01/2013 08:24

scooby we had similar when I was pregnant with our first DD. the buyer pulled out a week before exchange after we had spent thousands and committed to renting a property for 12 months.

It was really tough, in the end we moved out anyway and rented our house out before selling after 12 months to a lovely young couple.

Not the best timing for you, hope it all sorts itself out...leaves a nasty taste in the mouth as well.

SevenReasonsToSmile · 11/01/2013 09:35

scooby ((hugs)) we had a huge amount of stress to do with selling a property last year so I can sort of sympathise, though ours was just due to the incredible slowness of the solicitors our buyer was tied to. Getting it complete in 6 weeks is about the quickest I've realistically heard of tbh, so with Christmas in the middle that isn't too slow at all. Hope they realise how ridiculous their behaviour is and change their minds.

wirra we also have a veggie garden, not that we ever get much time to grow anything with 2 under 5 and a house that needs lots of work!

pickle we got ours as chicks this year, one came into lay in September (the same week I found out I was pregnant, no runny poached eggs for me, boo!), then another 3 in November. We still have one that hasn't started laying yet. They've slowed down during this current cold spell but we're still averaging a couple of eggs per day.

Hi hen. I'm also on DC3, do you know what you're having this time? Feel free to pop yourself on the stats thread, it's in the ante-natal groups category.

I'm exhausted today, DS had me up on and off until 4:15 little buggar

ArtigeneAuberchoke · 11/01/2013 10:12

Scooby - Could you write the buyers a friendly note to try and appeal to their humane side? They may not be thinking of you as individuals and it sounds like they are focusing on the agents and solicitors and blurring you altogether. Our estate agent (who we have bought our last two houses through) has the unorthodox approach of encouraging a personal connection between buyer and seller and IME it really helps. I would write that I was really sorry they want to pull out, that I agree the agent could have been more polite and you certainly won't use them again, that I have tried to be as quick as possible and if the two week delay is a huge problem I would be happy to reconsider and finally that I just did not have the resources to reduce the price and would hope they understood. You might not feel any of these things but sometimes being overly nice and stroking peoples' egos really pays!

It is lovely to see some of the older posters returning to the thread. Welcome back all! How is your sickness CheerfulYank? Better I hope.

Pickle - I too freaked out yesterday morning as the baby did not move at all and his movement have been strong for over a month. He is usually active in the mornings and we can see the kicks from outside. Luckily he started moving just as I considered leaving work and going to the hospital. I am glad your MW was so lovely and supportive. Lets hope you get to see that one lots and lots!

Milk - I am so excited to hear that non-man who became half-man is now a full-man. Congratulations! Are you planning on moving in together before the baby comes? I am suspecting not as you mentioned needing two of everything. Do you plan on the baby staying away from you from birth? I just wonder as you may find that really hard once the baby arrives, I know I found the desire to be near my babies was so much stronger than I could have imagined. Anyway, it is great that you are a couple and I hope things continue to go from strength to strength.

Wirra - how lovely that you and your DH are both classical musicians. Will you be able to juggle your hours when the baby is hear so that usually one of you can be at home while the other is at work? On my last antenatal thread there was a lovely opera singer who travelled the world lots and had to go back to work 6 weeks after birth. She was lucky that her husband gave up work and travelled with her caring for the baby and it sounds like your family might be able to give you that support which is great.

Who mentioned pelvic girdle pain? I never had it with my last pregnancies but I do have a sore coccyx this time and sometimes I am getting pain down my leg too. Its a horrid feeling. I wonder if I should get physio but I have no MW appointment until 28 weeks so nobody to refer me. Oh and this is way too much TMI but my pelvic floor aint coping well with this third pregnancy so ladies I cannot emphasise enough the importance of lots and lots of pelvic floor exercises. Not just a few a day like I used to do but diligent work. I wonder whether I need physio for that too. Groan.

Picklep · 11/01/2013 10:15

scooby am so sorry you're going through such stress!! They are complete bastards for putting you through this. Fingers crossed they see reason! Big hug to you.

sevenreasons so lovely when they first start laying, I was so excited. At first I wasn't eating my girls eggs. But now I'm averaging one a day and soft-boiled. All british poultry should be innoculated against salmonella and I double checked with our breeder, ours have. I also found out that if a chicken has salmonella then it has salmonella and so will its eggs. We've had no problems with our eggs since having them. The baby has been craving them, so i've been devoiring them, made the mistake of doing it in front of MIL!!! She nearly got them in her face with her 'do you think that's wise?' and 'I think you should be a bit more careful!' Ggggrrr

Picklep · 11/01/2013 10:20

artigene you have a little pickle too! They are already testing us. Glad you got some more movements and could relax. After all the panic and worry, my little pickle has been doing acrobats ever since.

scooby26 · 11/01/2013 10:49

Morning all...

Thanks all soo much for your words- confirmed I'm not going mad in thinking the request is unreasonable.

Antigene--- we took. Exactly your approach at 4.45 pm yesterday and wrote a personal letter to the buyers explaining our perspective on the same issues and explaining we went on hol etc for two weeks which was long booked ( estate agent well aware but maybe hadn't said) and offerring them a playhouse ( husband not looking not forward to taking down) and a sofa ( that we don't want ;-) )

At 0902 hrs we received a reply saying they now do intend to proceed and will take the sofa but not playhouse.... Unable to exchange by Wednesday we said suggested as they aren't ready yet ( hmmmmm)

So will see what happens now... Back on for completion 25 jan but vv nervous....

scooby that sounds like my worst nightmare. Poor you, that's hideous. As others have said, they're obviously just taking a punt and hoping you'll bend to their demands. I'd have also recommended writing to them directly and appealing to their better natures, so I'm glad to hear it's worked.

It's fraught with problems, this house-buying nonsense, isn't it??

Pickle what a horrible panic you must have had. I think all of us are so tuned in to what is/isn't/should be happening we're hyper alert to any changes. That's good, though, and probably nature's way of helping us pick up problems. Glad it's all well though. Take good care!

Wirra what a lovely job. I used to play cello in orchestras etc but haven't picked it up properly for years. I still dream about it - it was something I genuinely loved and now just don't have time for. Then my fingers softened up and I came out in blisters every time I tried to play properly. Hoping my little girl will be musical, but DH is absolutely not (although he is an artist, and really creative generally). Am playing her lots of classical stuff in the hope she'll catch on....

22+4

tasmaniandevilchaser · 11/01/2013 14:08

Hi scooby great to hear things are moving, maybe you won't need the prawns!

Artigene, it was me with PGP, I referred myself for physio, I think it's worth catching things early.

HenD19 · 11/01/2013 15:26

Hi sevenreasons. I don't know what we're having-do you? How do you feel about having 3? I'm quite worried as life is hard and busy enough already. Getting more excited as the weeks go on though, especially now I'm feeling lots of little kicks and wriggles (from baby bump not 2yr old though he has his moments!). Hope you get a full night's sleep tonight. I'm still shattered and mine both slept thru!

GeordieCherry · 11/01/2013 16:58

Went to an ante-natal 'fitness' class this morning. We did posture & pelvic floor& that was it!! Needn't have worn my joggers..!

Still, got some proper idea of how to do PF exercises. Must keep that up

Went for another bra fitting today. Up another cup size. Only bought one as I'll be back again in 6 weeks & will need a different size at this rate. Thank goodness for the quick wash cycle on the machine Wink

Glad to hear the buyers have seen sense & it's all now back on Scooby

Hope everyone's niggles are settling down & here's to a relaxing weekend

Boodstress · 11/01/2013 17:06

Hi Artigene - I have mentioned my PSD - pelvic girdle pain - several times as I have it with my last two pregnancies and already started hobbling with this one. I also got the coccyx issue after the birth of my dS2 and that has kicked back in now. The belts have been uncomfortable and pretty useless but I am not wearing a type of stocking bandage that holds everything in which is helping plus I have the coccyx cushion for under me when sitting which has a hole cut out around the coccyx to take the pressure off. tBH there is no substitute for the physio exercises they give you ( Pilates style to improve strength of core) boringly enough !

Boodstress · 11/01/2013 17:07
