resipsa · 20/05/2013 07:30

kitty CONGRATS!!!

resipsa · 20/05/2013 07:33

And you made me shiver with the boobs part. I remember waking up on day 3, looking down and thinking "f*, where did they come from?".

tedmundo · 20/05/2013 08:13

Congratulations kitty!!! Ouchy on the boob front. Great to have a good little feeder though.

Alcudia is a good size resort wee with loads to do. the kids will love it. We used to go on city breaks, safaris, coastal walks before kids but now we are firmly signed up to the large hotel complex style holiday for all the reasons you state! The boys just want a pool with unlimited ice cream!

MrsBri · 20/05/2013 09:24

Any name yet, kitty? :-) How are you both today? Did you get to go home last night?

I was told I can have a 6 hour discharge if I want, even as a first timer, if it's a normal birth! I think I'll stay in one night at least.

Am I next on here?! Scary thought. 35+4 today.

I'm feeling like baby is huge, but only measuring 2 weeks ahead so I don't get a growth scan :-/ Can I force the issue somehow?

RedRobin1 · 20/05/2013 10:02

hi ted completely missed your post! So lovely to hear from you. Hope you are keeping well. Sounds like Bruce is already in a good routine :)

My nausea has almost gone since noon on Sunday. I have spent most of today worrying and wondering why its suddenly eased off. I thought the sickness would be kicking in stronger this week. I have been upping my sugar intake the last 2 days, so maybe that explains the nausea subsiding. Is too much diet coke, a bad thing?

Got my early scan this Saturday. It can't come sooner.

mrsbri oooo it will be you next :) how exciting!

res thinking of you - fingers and toes all crossed.

wee I am very Envy of your holiday to Majorca. I'd give anything to be on a sunbed right now (like a slob) and not moving for the whole day.

MrsBri · 20/05/2013 10:16

Symptoms come and go in early pregnancy, so don't worry too much red. My poor DH had to listen to me wailing about my boobs for weeks and weeks as the soreness / growth came and went!

Definitely wishing good luck to res. Really keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I'd love a holiday too. God knows when we will get one of those :-/

kiwi5 · 20/05/2013 13:26

Great job kitty. Happy new born moments!!
36 + 2 today. Mood changed. Feeling calm but crabby, which is what happened befire dd arrived. Tons of BH and twinges that take my breath away. But v conscious it cud stull be wks away!!!

Adsum · 20/05/2013 20:22

Hellooo'! (Fatas as was here!) congrats kitty!! That's great news! nic I can't believe you are next already and all of you so far along! Very happy for all of you (tinged with Envy of course Wink)

Hope we will all be joining you on here soon (properly next time!!) Smile

MrsBri · 20/05/2013 20:39

Hi Ads!

You'd best come over to this side soon. All of you deserve to join us :-)

It's scary how fast it's going now. I still don't feel entirely ready.

Adsum · 20/05/2013 21:04

Don't know if this makes you feel better but I never felt ready!! Still don't...! Wink - you'll do just great Smile

MrsBri · 20/05/2013 21:14

Thank you :-)

Once we actually have baby with us I'm sure I'll get the hang of it!

LittleMissSnowShine · 21/05/2013 14:58

Hello everyone!

BIG congrats kitty!! Loving the thought of the short pushing stage for no. 2 - took well over an hour first time round with DS, 5 mins this time round would be fab!!

Enjoy the holiday wee! We had a great time in Kerry and even some sunshine but a beach in Majorca sounds like heaven! I'm 30 in Feb and considering cashing in on some grandparent babysitting and booking 4 or 5 days away just for me and DH somewhere hot on a beach and childfree lolol

ted - great to hear from you and so glad things are going well with little Bruce :)

mrsbri - yep, gross dates! I'm trying to eat just one a day at the min, will gradually build up to the 6 a day they recommend lol

winkle and res - hope you guys are well and also hoping to see you over here with us v soon xx

Think I got a bit too comfy in second tri, feeling good, going on hols, having plenty of energy, seeing friends, going to work, playing with DS etc. Third tri has really arrived and feeling very tired at the min - prob pushing it a bit too hard with work since I'm doing quite a big freelance project on top of my normal hours and I ended up throwing up for ages last night, which I think was just general exhaustion catching up with me. I was supposed to be doing a heap of GCSE marking this year but I've decided to pull out since i still need to get lots of organising done round house for baby arriving, i need to get freelance project finished and i'm already feeling wrecked with 10 weeks still to go. Don't want to be seeing my dinner again every night lol Off for whooping cough vaccine tomorrow and having to keep a close eye on DH since it looks like he's possibly developing chicken pox :-/

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 22/05/2013 07:19

I'm really hoping for a shorter pushing stage with no 2. It took over an hour with dd and I had the registrar stood outside my room with the vontouse (how the hell do you spell vontouse?).

I fell like I'm dying today [overdramatic emoticon]. I've come down with a sickness and diarrhoea bug and now I feel like someone spent all day kicking the shit out of me. The only bit of me that doesn't ache is my toes.

RedRobin1 · 22/05/2013 08:25

when what is a vontouse? and you have to push for an hour Shock I have not ventured into the labour territory yet - dreading what I may discover.

Nausea has gone - almost completely. Boobs have stopped growing and being sore. Just feel tired and bloated. I am grateful for no nausea and no sore boobs but part of me worries about the lack of those. Tiredness kicks in stronger in the evenings. I am falling asleep by 7.30 / 8pm in the evenings.

MrsBri · 22/05/2013 09:22

Ventouse is suction, red. They will pull baby out using it.

They will only let you push for an hour or so before using an assisted method. Our hospital takes you into theatre for this now in case a c section is needed.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 22/05/2013 09:25

Thanks mrsbri I never could spell.

red sorry you are still so tired, it all sounds like very normal pregnancy stuff.

Alexandra6 · 22/05/2013 09:36

Hi all, I'm like a zombie at the moment! Exhausted all the time - someone told me I'd feel like superwoman by the second trimester but I'm 13 weeks tomorrow and there is nothing super about how I'm feeling! Smile

Am also grumpy about work and how my bosses are treating the pregnancy - an "extremely difficult" situation, will be a nightmare trying to get good mat leave cover, I'm not allowed to tell clients yet like it's a dirty secret.

Ventouse eek! Scared of that and forceps and anything to do with labour I'm planning to try kitty's three push trick!

MrsBri · 22/05/2013 09:53

When, I only know as we had our antenatal class last weekend! :-)

And I'll refuse forceps. Ventouse I'd have, but I would rather have a section than forceps.

Alex, your work need to be careful re sex discrimination. Have they done your risk assessment yet?

Alexandra6 · 22/05/2013 10:24

Me too on the forceps mrsb so is that ok to do then, refuse forceps and ask for a section instead?

Nope no risk assessment form, if I asked they'd moan about me being difficult and then make me find a form online and fill it out, and I can't see anything they'd let me do differently so not sure there's a point! What would is working from home even more (I currently do that sometimes and that is a real perk) so I might talk to them about doing that more (or even all the time if my cervix gets shorter)

Alexandra6 · 22/05/2013 10:25

What would help I meant!

MrsBri · 22/05/2013 10:56

They are legally obliged and can't refuse. It's how I got to work from home! You need to insist it is done. If they make it difficult they're at risk of sex discrimination.

Don't let them get away with being awkward.

Send them the link from the HSE website if necessary.

MrsBri · 22/05/2013 10:57

Oh, and I think we can refuse. We are prepped for section anyway, with all the same people in theatre, so not sure it's really much more hassle to them.

I'll try to remember to ask my midwife next time.

Kittenkatzen · 22/05/2013 11:18

Morning ladies (and zombies!)....remember the zombie feeling well - i think it started to go around 15/16 weeks so not too much longer for you alex (sorry red Grin)

Eek to all the assisted birth talk. Really really hope to avoid all that if possible (obviously!) - am staying focused on the water birth I want for now but will make sure I'm armed with info just in case.

Anyone had any experience with SPD? Hoping someone can describe the pain to me - have been suffering with one sided back/hip/stitch type pain for a week or so. Worse when I stand up from sitting but eases a bit when I move around. Any ideas?

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 22/05/2013 11:48

kitten I've had spd. It hurt most of all when rolling over in bed. It mostly hurt in the pelvis between my legs (right where your public hair is). When it got worse it felt like I was being hit in the crotch by a baseball bag every time I walked anywhere.

With it being in your side it sounds like its probably more pelvic girdle pain than spd (or maybe sciatica???) hope it eases up soon.
