Happy 2013 one and all!

It's also her first pregnancy. I'm sure I was nowhere near this big at this stage last time. I look like I did at about 20 weeks already!

photographerlady · 15/01/2013 07:17

Morning all. First day back since telling the boss I'm expecting. As for the rest of the office well I work with all men so I could be 30 weeks and they wouldn't register I'm pregnant. I guess I will tell the chap that shares my desk space first its always tricky slipping something into conversation.

Calmisthemantra · 15/01/2013 08:37

specialknickers just read your posts on another thread about SPD. I know we're date twins but are you actually me?! I have had bad SPD since about 8w with dd1, so been in constant pain since aug'11. It never went away after the birth and I've seen countless people but nothing helps Sad I think I've just accepted that its normal to be in constant pain and very limited with what I can do - but that can't be right. I'm dreading the time after the birth the most as I know I'll be hoping it'll get better (but probably won't)

They were talking about X-rays to measure the gap in my pubic bone but refused until I stop having my family (I want 3Hmm) and then even wiring the pelvis eeeeep!

Sigh. Sorry if it sounds like a whinge post but just wanted to let you know that you're not alone xx

dinkystinky · 15/01/2013 09:04

Morning all. I wonder if DoC is a lurker taking tips about pushchairs on here.... Grin Re names - if you've chosen a name you love, stick with it is my attitude.

Specialknickers, Calm so sorry to hear you're sufering so badly with SPD - sounds truly awful!

Totally - my "bump" didnt pop with DS1 until I was about 20 weeks and my did it grow then. It seems to have popped earlier and earlier with DS2 and this baby. I swear I look five months already too!

BadmissM - hope all went ok yesterday at your FMC appt.

Morning all! I'm not the DofC either Smile William is actually on our names list but I reckon whatever they choose will be a classic name so having the same one wouldn't be such a problem.

Very exciting to be hearing about boys and girls already! Is anyone else undecided as to whether to find out? DH and I are going round in circles with it as he wants to know and I'm not sure. Opinions welcome!

I had my first midwife appt yesterday and heard Bobble's heartbeat which was just amazing! Got to have repeat bloods and see a consultant as I have a very minor heart issue but otherwise all ok.

It's a bit of a rollercoaster here as one of my cats is very poorly. We're off to the vets for test results this afternoon but it looks like he doesn't have long left at all. Poor wee mite isn't quite four yet so I'm spending a lot of time in tears at the moment (hormones are not helping with that).

MrsRoss26 · 15/01/2013 09:34

Must ditto what everyone else has been saying about the DoC news - it'll be rather sweet to go along at the same time, though of course my figure is nothing like the dear lady! Having completely avoided all ms I do however feel very bad for the rest of you not faring so well.

So relieved to read all the worrying news turned out well - so pleased for you all!

I told one of my director's yesterday, as need to start planning changes to work and how to tell the boss. It's rather lovely being able to announce, isn't it? I can't wait to tell my parents, so mum and I can go pram shopping!

12+4

MrsRoss26 · 15/01/2013 09:35

Devil here's hoping that your cat gets the treatment it needs, and feels better, even if it's not for long. What a horrid time for you Sad

orangebubbles · 15/01/2013 09:56

devil with dd1 DH wanted to know badly and I didn't. I concluded that his need to know was greater than my need not to! I suspect we will find out again with dc2! Sorry to hear about your cat being unwell.

My symptoms are getting worse, so much for a nice tri2!!

totally and dinky everyone says you pop quicker with the second, I just hadn't expected it quite so early! I feel huge!

Hope everyone else is well.

dinkystinky · 15/01/2013 10:07

Devil - so sorry your cat is so ill. Sending you, and your cat, hugs.

V excited - off to the theatre tonight to see Kiss Me Kate (trying to cram in as much cultural/fun stuff as possible pre- July as I know I'll go into lockdown mode for a year of so after the baby arrives). Cant wait.

specialknickers · 15/01/2013 11:57

Hi calm maybe you are me? Although my username is way more likely to be omgfreakthefeckoutisthemantra... I'm sorry you've got pgp too. Tis an unreconstructed nightmare. I took my normally very sensible 3 year old ds outside yesterday to play in the snow and he dashed behind our van to throw a snowball at it just as a car was driving past. Luckily the driver saw him (thank you gap, for only having bright red coats left in his size in the sale) and braked just in time. I tried to run and snatch him out of the way it I just couldn't. It's not just the chronic pain that's the problem, it's that you're effectively almost disabled.

Anyway, good to let off a bit of steam on here once in a while. I'm happy that I've finally met someone else who knows what I'm so grumpy on about.

Sorry to hear about your poorly cat Dev.

TotallyEggFlipped · 15/01/2013 12:24

Devil we didn't find out what we were having with DD until she arrived, despite having loads of extra scans for a research study and then because she had IUGR. We both liked the idea of a surprise and also wouldn't want anyone else to know, even if we did. I think its impossible to keep it a secret once you know - people try to trick you into giving something away. MIL tried to convince me to find out last time & then again this time, but I don't want to know in advance. My mum says even if we do find out, she doesn't want to know.

esme80 · 15/01/2013 13:26

Hi all! My internet has been down over the weekend, and now trying to catch up! Glad to see lots of good scans!

My SPD is starting to flare now, just in the last few days. Not too bad yet will see how quickly it stays manageable. It really is horrible isnt it? And just in time my normally lovely 18 month old is starting to act up loads. That mixed with not sleeping well has got me a bit down... Trying to at least be possitive that my ms is now more or less gone! Making up for weeks of not eating...

Am a little jealous of the two that have found out gender, I have to wait 4 weeks! Oh well, 16 week midwife on thursday, yay!

Devilforasideboard · 15/01/2013 13:43

Thank you so much for the good wishes. Little bugger gave me such a fright by going wandering in the neighbours gardens this morning having been lying under the bed at death's door two minutes earlier so I'm hoping that's a good sign. We'll find out in a couple of hours anyway.

Sympathy to all suffering with SPD, it must be awful. Enjoy the eating though esme, I'm replenishing lost stores with Creme Eggs. I wish they wouldn't put those packs of three on offer though, too tempting.

I shall wait and see on the gender issue. It looks like DH may not be there for the scan so the problem might be solved!

BooStar · 15/01/2013 14:05

Hello all, just popping in to say that we had our scan this morning. And despite me absolutely cacking myself over the last few days, it went really well! Baby was wriggling about, putting on a show and the sonographer went so far as to say that it looked like 'a really healthy baby'!!
Relief is not the word!
We've also gained 6 days, so my EDD is now 18th July!! Which means that we only have 6.5 wks to wait for our 20wk scan!!
We are definitely finding out, we did with DS and I loved dropping the it and calling 'him' 'he'. Also, we're only having two so if it is a girl, I want to get organised and clear out/eBay all the particularly boyish clothes before baby arrives. I'm also the most impatient person in the world and I think it's a surprise whenever you're told & to be frank pushing my boy's 98th percentile head out was about as much shock as I could take on the day!!

I'm relieved to hear that other second time mums have 'popped' already! I too look about the same as I did at 20wks with DS and am firmly ensconced in my mat clothes. It's nice being this stage over winter though as big baggy woolly jumpers hide a multitude!

esme80 · 15/01/2013 14:06

Ooohhh, creme eggs....

TotallyEggFlipped · 15/01/2013 14:12

Great news, Boo! We're EDD buddies now.

TotallyEggFlipped · 15/01/2013 14:14

I made flapjacks yesterday. They're all gone. Nobody else has eaten them. How the hell did that happen? There's 'eating for two' then there's eating for an entire football team. Shock

Persuasion · 15/01/2013 14:46

You lot all talk too much, I can barely keep up!

I'm definitely not the DoC either, although it is my first but my bump is much bigger! I think whoever starts the nest thread should name it 'due in july, but none of us are the DoC so stop asking!' Everyone I tell when I'm due seems to mention the timing, it's driving me mad (although hormones may be making me sensitive)

Congrats to all those with good news. It's so exciting some of you know the sex already, we can't wait to find out.

I can't remember who was asking about 'cervix' pains, but I definitely seem to get this on and off. Have my 16 week midwife appointment tomorrow so will ask her and pass on anything useful.

Have any first-timers (or others) felt movement yet. I've had a few occasions where I thought I felt something but I'm not sure if it's in my head. From what I've read it's possible, but unlikely. Anyone got any thoughts?

Guavasforbreakfast · 15/01/2013 14:47

Am slightly jealous of all you second (+) timers and your bumps, no amount of creative dressing makes me look pregnant rather than just plain chubby right now!

Have been advised to stay off until I get my immunity results back, which could be up to 10 days. As only one person has it at school (so far...) and has said she'll stay home so as NOT to infect me, HT is not happy. Have never been in his bad books before Confused. Not risking another mc though, no way.

Persuasion · 15/01/2013 14:50

Oh, and I mant to say I am also starving ALL the time. I have first and second breakfast, split lunch in two, have an end of work snack, a getting home snack then dinner, it's ridiculous! And cravings for random things, which then disappear oncw I've had it once. So far I've 'needed' curry, a mcdonalds milkshake, doughnuts, and jam tarts. And an ongoing desire for a pot noodle which I'm suppressing!

16+0 today

photographerlady · 15/01/2013 14:56

Hey any second or third times offer some advice? Today I find it hard to sit down as my bits (feels like my cervix) hurts. Not a sharp pain but a constant one :/

BadMissM · 15/01/2013 15:58

Runs Ooh, a girl!!!

cheese Have had the stabbing pains in both 1st and this one....

photographer That's where I went for the Harmony Test and Nuchal Scan too....they have been brilliant.... I'm a 2nd (technically 3rd....) timer. I've had that pain in the cervix too...

MarieKL Yes, went back to the FMC yesterday, and had the rsults of the Harmony and the Nuchal Scan and YAY! am clear for trisomies...a relief as I'm 45....! My wiggly baby wouldn't stay still for long enought to see which sex it was!

Orange citizenoscar Scene stealing royals muscling in on July....!

orange emblosion I look like I could have eaten the DoC and her sister.... how dare she not have a bump....!

Marimama Not about to give a baby a 'Royal' name...stick to my odd French ones I think!

So, have been basically cleared for Downs and the other Trisomies at the FMC yesterday...at 45 breathing an enormous sigh of relief...so glad I went! Can hopefully actually enjoy the pregnancy now....!

photographerlady · 15/01/2013 16:04

Sorry just read back in the discussion, it's not a delightful pain if you hear anything Per let us know.

dinkystinky · 15/01/2013 16:09

Photographer - try sitting on a rolled up towel (so your hips are higher than your knees) or on a ring made of a towel - should take pressure of your bits. Have you ahem being doing the deed of late? The increased blood flow down there can make your sensitve areas very sensitive. It should pass soon though. Other good thing to sit on is a inflated exercise ball - again spreads out the surface area and relieves pressure down below.

So pleased your scan and tests went well BadMissM! Was wondering how you were getting on. Roar at your eating DoC and her sister!

Persuasion - I've been feeling stuff for a good few weeks now. Helps I know having had DS1 and DS2 what it feels like so can correctly identify it - otherwise would be passing it off as gas or twinges (like the first time).

MightBeMad · 15/01/2013 16:10

Not had the cervix pain yet this time but def had it last time around. Ouch ouch ouch. It's really sore!

Congrats to all for good scan news and trisomy test results!

I'm soooo tired today! I've typed a big long reply and lost it twice already so i'm just going to give up now and leave it at this for now Smile
