Happy 2013 one and all!

Yep special knickers- it was the same one.

I mainlined Haribo when pregnant with ds2 and had to have cheese and pickle sandwiches when pregnant with DS1 so the sweet/savoury doesn't ring true for me. MIL lived on ice cream and candy floss when expecting DH(and only put on a stone) and plums with his sister (and put on 4 stone - go figure!) So maybe I should blame it on DH's wierdo genes...

Ooo I love cereal, just hate milk and can't stand too much dry cereal (makes me feel like a cat!) so have to eat it really quickly if I ever have it and can only have freshly bought milk. I know I am fussy Grin

AmaDablam · 07/01/2013 08:55

My latest craving seems to be salad of all things. DH made one at the weekend and it literally seemed like the best thing I'd ever tasted! I think that's more to do with my body needing the vitamins and minerals than whether it's a boy or a girl - my diet's been so shocking over the past few weeks that I think it's only my ante-natal supplement that's kept me going....

(Not that I'm trying to be all smug because I'm craving something healthy, the second helping of apple strudel with cream went down quite well last night too!!)

Have a good start to the week, all.

12+1

twirliedobbit · 07/01/2013 09:12

Snap amadablam I had a cheese salad yesterday it was amazing!! Even better when finished of with the stawberry cheesecake Hagen daaz Grin

Ok now I have pregnancy rage - have just done my tax return and our accounts department have fucked up again - second year in a row - meaning I have to find £3k to pay the tax man by the end of the month. Ready to scream!

OP posts:
wifey6 · 07/01/2013 11:38

Oo no dinky...that's awful! No wonder you're feeling the rage!

Thinkingof4 · 07/01/2013 11:46

Ah dinky that's terrible... And reminds me I better do mine soon

Ive been craving lots of citrus type stuff, can only face toast and marmalade in mornings! Plus fresh orange. But the same with all of them, maybe less craving salty stuff than with. Ds1 and ds2 when I lived on crisp and dip. I don't think it's linked to gender from my experience

dinkystinky · 07/01/2013 11:50

Thanks for the sympathy Thinking and Wifey! Wouldnt be so bad if they hadnt cocked up last year too - it took me 6 months to get straight financially last year after having to scrape the tax payment together. Can foresee it being as bad, if not worse, this year...

Wow! Still in shock after lovely scan, but they said either it's a big baby or i am actually 15 weeks and some instead of 13, so now due date is 27th june. I would like to stay on this thread please because i am always overdue by miles even if they are right with new dates. Hope everyone else has a good scan this week

princessllama · 07/01/2013 13:40

Dinky v sorry for moronic accounting, nightmare.

wifey6 · 07/01/2013 13:40

princess...that's wonderful! Wow 15 weeks instead of 13. Smile Yes do stay here, we've all like a little family now. Smile

dinkystinky · 07/01/2013 14:13

Definitely stay on here Princess - you and your baby and the other late June ladies on the thread will lead the way Grin

specialknickers · 07/01/2013 15:10

Just had my flu jab and feeling a bit wobbly about it. I did lots of research about the pros and cons and felt very undecided but went ahead anyway... Can anyone reassure me that I've done the right thing? I declined with ds because I couldn't convince myself it was totally safe - but this time I'm so much more unhealthy and exposed to way more germs (having a little one at nursery means you catch everything, in my experience)... I couldn't cope with ds if I got seriously ill. I sound a bit pathetic really don't I, but I can't stop myself worrying about it. I don't think I could bare to lose another baby.

MightBeMad · 07/01/2013 15:10

Dinky if it's for the year just ended (11/12) you can ask the revenue to adjust your tax code for next year I think and repay it monthly that way. Worth a call to them?? (as someone who also just had to find 3k for the tax man I really feel your pain!!). Angry

Princess congrats on good scan!! And lovely to jump ahead a bit too Smile

My scan was also good Smile

MightBeMad · 07/01/2013 15:15

Special I've had it too. Spoke to a virologist friend who totally convinced me. The vaccine is really safe and people don't realise how serious flu can be, especially in pg women. At best, horrid and ill for weeks on end, at worst your family could lose you and the baby to it. Fwiw, and I appreciate people have different views and totally understand the anxiety about it, I think you did the right thing. I'll be having the whooping cough one too if that's offered when we reach 3rd tri. Smile

wifey6 · 07/01/2013 15:19

might...that's great news your scan went well. Smile
special...I had it about 4+ weeks ago now. I did research & made the nurse tell me all about it before she gave it to me. Smile
I felt a bit flu-like about 2 weeks later..but only lasted 48 hours. This was before our scan & baby was absolutely perfect.

photographerlady · 07/01/2013 16:15

special I debated mine for the longest time but my office is always full of sneezing and coughing. They never take off work either when sick. I just didn't want to risk a bad flu.

Was tough though as I would never get one if I wasn't pregnant and my DH didn't ask me.

Thundercatz · 07/01/2013 16:24

special support for flu jab here too. I had it very early on in my preg (and have had it last 3 years as was offered it at work) and i feel I had genuinely strengthened my immune system. And that's invaluable during pregnancy when you body is already going through the mill in growing the baby (don't I know it going by how exhausted I constantly feel!) I think you've done the right thing.

I'm 13+5 according to scan or 13+3 according to lmp. Who knows?!

notprincesskate · 07/01/2013 16:24

Great news from scanee's today.
Can anyone shed any light on the great mystery that is MS, I had reasonable nausea from 6-10 weeks, I described it as a hangover that I ate my way through as it seemed to keep the nausea away, I retched a few times, mostly at particular smells but was never sick. The last few days I've been retching as soon as I've got out of bed, then nausea for a couple of hours which wears off, today I was sick for the first time, which got rid of my nausea completely, I'm 14 weeks- is this MS or I'm I getting some bug? not felt or been sick since. Feeling very sorry for myself as also on jury service this week, so can't even hide away at home!

photographerlady · 07/01/2013 17:24

notprinc I still get retching in the morning as well but I get through it by the time I'm out the door for work. I had horrible MS from week 6-10, sudden after the holidays it's worn off side from my morning retch of a bit of nausea if I don't snack on apples or something filling between meals (which are still pretty small). I think it might just still be the weaning process of MS. I'm 12w 4days.

dinkystinky · 07/01/2013 17:25

Mightbemad - am doing my sums to figure out if I can do that. Bloody tax man!

Special - I didnt have the flu jab (as I come down with the most horrendous flu every time I have the jab but otherwise pretty much avoid it, touch wood) but can totally understand why people who dont have such an adverse reaction to it would go for the flu jab.

Twirliedobbit I hate soggy milky cereal too. Can just about cope with the milk on Cocoa Pops (healthy I know) but otherwise I have muesli with fruit juice to soften it. Apple works well, as does cranberry, or anything similar. Orange is not right for this at all in my opinion but lovely to drink. Alternatively natural yoghurt can work well especially if you top with fruit (fresh or stewed).

CottonSock · 07/01/2013 18:20

twirliedobbit I have identical cereal habits too. In fact my hate of milk was having me worried I was not getting enough calcium so have been eating way more cheese than normal. Lasagne for tea :)

I am pro flu jab. Had it at 6 weeks and have avoided some pretty nasty bugs since. My nurse thinks you are more likely to get a bug after it if you already fighting a bug.

I went on a nice hike yesterday. Only problem (apart from nearly getting lost on hills in fog and dark!) was that it felt like baby sitting on my bladder. Really uncomfortable all day and lots of running into bushes! However, it was nice to enjoy my higher levels of energy. Saturday I felt awful, so it really comes and goes.

Today I feel like I was getting kicked in the cervix. Sudden sharp pains. not nice!

Well done on new scans and hello newbies.

16 weeks today :)

specialknickers · 07/01/2013 18:28

Thanks everyone. I'm just going to try and forget about it and get on with being pregnant.

Congratulations to the happy scanners, it's such a great milestone to reach.
