Good luck nicnac, hope you managed some sleep in the end.
Happy birthday fod, thought I shared it with someone on the thread but couldn't remember who. Have a great day.
I've had a rubbish nights sleep, I just can't get comfortable for any length of time and moving is just so much hard work. I don't think I've been awake this early on my birthday since I was a child and knew there was a massive pile of presents to open downstairs! Don't think DP will be impressed if I go wake him up now and remind him he promised breakfast.

Stacks · 23/12/2012 08:49

Morning. Happy birthday daydream and FoD.

Good luck nicnac the pessary doesn't seem to have done anything for me last night. I had terrible backache, but bit didn't feel like the sort that would be doing anything. Back to the hospital at 3:30 this afternoon. I'm not sure what the next stage is, another pessary or the drip. I'd really like to avoid the drip if I can, as without it I might still be allowed to labour in the pool... Also, drip is meant to be a very painful way to labour, and will need constant baby monitoring :(

Maybe I should have refused induction...

SpottyTeacakes · 23/12/2012 08:52

stacks what pessary have you got? The gel or the tablet thing that they have to take out again?

spicegirl13 · 23/12/2012 08:55

Happy birthday FOD & daydream! Been having cramps for about 2 hours now, relatively regularly but not sure if this is it or not so am watching Cbeebies with DD while DH has a lie in completely clueless Shock.

Keep bouncing on those balls girls!

yuletopian99 · 23/12/2012 09:00

Happy birthdays daydream and fod, and good luck stacks and nicnac - I know labour's supposed to be faster/stronger with induction but at least it's over faster? Would probably take it if offered right now, ruddy sick of false alarms and starting to think my body's deliberately sabotaging itself..

Nicnac78 · 23/12/2012 09:13

Morning all

1st pessary has softened cervix a bit and mw did another sweep at same time as inserting next one. I get 2 tablets and then one gel before waters broken and drip. I think gel is quite powerful?

My lovely water birth is gone now anyway as I'm being induced as baby growth restricted and I will have to be constantly monitored once in established labour regardless of whether on drip or not.

Thought I was starting to feel contractions but ctg barely picking them up. Feel a bit of a baby now. On trace till 10 then will get dressed and put TENS on and get walking around the hospital

Good luck stacks hopefully they can give you gel before the drip

SpottyTeacakes · 23/12/2012 09:16

Good luck nicnac. Your hospital has the same induction policy as mine. Yes the gel is more powerful so hopefully that will get you going Smile

Hormonalhell · 23/12/2012 09:27

Good luck nicnac and happy birthday mydaydream and FoD be nice to have same birthday as your baby mydaydream Smile

Well I been to loo and it was agony!! Think I might have water infection, but hey ho that brought my DD into the world so FX Grin

itsMYNutella · 23/12/2012 09:44

Happy Birthday Fod and dream!

Fingers crossed for stacks and nicnac. No matter what else happens you know you will be cuddling your LOs very soon Smile hope the inductions go as well as well... I hope they go well! Well well well, how many times can I write it in a sentence??

Spice I cannot find spicy food here! There is a really good Thai place in town and their spicy stuff is yummy but sadly not so spicy that is has that effect on me :( a good friend of mine who is from Indonesia and an amazing cook is so selfish as to be on holiday! Otherwise I'd be ringing him Grin

Sorry, TMI again... DP and I dtd yesterday afternoon and this morning there is still err goo when I wipe... Is it possibly show/plug?? - very optimistic here! Smile

Stacks · 23/12/2012 09:52

First pessary was a bit of tape. Googling shows its a tablet with tape to allow for it to be taken out again. They didn't give me any info on the process after this, so I'm very much hoping its similar to the process for you nicnac.

The doctor who put in this pessary was brutal. If its the same guy today I'm asking for someone else. The midwife who did my sweeps was so much better. It was still slightly sore and very uncomfortable, but so, so much better than that swine yesterday.

Hormonalhell · 23/12/2012 10:13

Could be sperm nutella did the same myself the other day and thought it might be plug but alas not!

blackcurrants · 23/12/2012 10:19

nutella I have been wiping away similar mucous since sweep on Friday- it's like there's an alien sneezing in my pants-or some cheap. 80s Dr who special effects alien goo!

itsMYNutella · 23/12/2012 10:22

Hormonal ouch to a possible water
infection! Where can you get some help/ antibiotics for it? Here it would definitely be a trip to hospital because the Drs are all closed till the new year now. Hmm
DP will be proud of himselfWink I'll keep my fingers crossed Smile

Stacks that just sounds blimmin painful from start to finish! As if being heavily pregnant isn't uncomfortable enough. I'd definitely be having words if it were me.

Also woke up with back pain, still lounging in bed. But not much else happening... Maybe I'll go bounce on my ball for a bit.

itsMYNutella · 23/12/2012 10:24

Ha ha ha! blackcurrants that really made me LOL!! Yes that's exactly what's its like. DP will be certain it's sperm if I ask him (not to look, just from an "I'm such a big man" perspective) ah well... See how long it carries on.

blackcurrants · 23/12/2012 10:32

we'll I.haven't been able to persuade DH near me.since Friday(the big jessie) so let me reassure you it's definitely cervical mucous. problem is I don't know what it means - it's not a bloody show, I don't think

Terrywoganstrousers · 23/12/2012 10:58

I've had pinkish stained mucous when I wipe since yesterday. Think it's just the show coming away gradually- I never had a big dramatic show with DD I don't think (or at least I can't remember it, it was ten years ago nearly!)

Cookiesandcoffee · 23/12/2012 15:00

Happy Birthday FOD and daydream
Grin

Good luck to those being induced..

Hope there are a few more babies before Christmas.. Excited to see if we get a Christmas baby!

I have so little time to mumsnet am attempting to keep up with everything. Anyone else looking forward to Jan when it all calms down /kids back at school etc ?!

Secondsop · 23/12/2012 15:20

Hello, have been on the postnatal thread but just popped back to say good luck to nicnak for the rest of the induction and to go by what you feel, contraction wise - mine didn't show up on the monitor either. If you've got the gel now you might find that does the trick as it's stronger than the pessary.

Clarella · 23/12/2012 18:44

Hi all! V quick bob on and saw your post nicnac - I was induced at 42 weeks but went into labour on way to hospital! Theypicked it up on the monitor and mw had first pessay in hand as she said I think you're labouring. However baby wasnt happy so waters were broken, and then drip to try to speed things up - they wanted to do a head prick test to check his oxygen levels. Anyway, during this I had to stay in one place position on right as he seemed happier and the contractions on the drip were pretty strong - gas and air were fab but then made me quite doolally and the monitor kept popping off due to my hysterics. (found the anesthetist especially funny) I actually asked for an epidural to both be able to keep still and keep a clear head though they were also talking about possible c section at that point so I felt it would help matters if it came to that. (which it did an hour later as wasn't dilated enough for head scratch test and we/they didn't want to risk it any further)

I just felt it helpful to share that as had been totally willing to stick to g and a but the chaos, was impossible - I think I could have managed if able to move about etc.

Also - epidural didn't work very quickly or fully, (could still walk and faintly feel contractions) so they already knew they needed a spinal block by the time the c section was decided upon rather than epi.

All the very very best to all the nearly there mammas! Xx

Stacks · 23/12/2012 19:33

So, stuck in hospital now and DH gone home till tomorrow. This hospital gives you a 24h rest between each induction thing, so next pessary will be tomorrow afternoon. However as I'm now 42w they won't let me go home again.
Had same doc today as yesterday, who was again very painful with the internal exam. My cervix is still too far back to be easily reached, and not dilated. I am having tightenings every few minutes, so the hope is that these do something and I'm further forward tomorrow. Doc mentioned breaking waters if I was dilated tomorrow, so we'll have to wait and see.
I'm already tired and kind of fed up. With such a bad night sleep last night I'm hoping I'll be able to sleep here. Even with the 2 newborn babies in the room with me...

SpottyTeacakes · 23/12/2012 19:46

Oh good luck stacks I hope things start progressing for you Envy it's hard to sleep in hospital even without the babies! For the four nights I was in prior to having ds they woke me up every hour to make me test my sugar levels Hmm I was nice and refreshed for the birth, not!

itsMYNutella · 23/12/2012 19:59

stacks fingers crossed that things get going overnight! Sorry to hear you had the same dr :(

Bean seems to have slowed down tonight. Still doing some stretching... Hmm in fact plenty of movement, just not so painful Confused.

emilyeggs · 23/12/2012 23:46

Good luck stacks Grin

Clarella · 24/12/2012 00:43

good luck stacks - waters being broken should help a lot hope you can rest as much as possible

Terrywoganstrousers · 24/12/2012 01:01

Good luck stacks!
