Emilyeggs i feel the same with nothing happening since some pre-labour cramps on Tuesday and that i'll have to join a "January 2013 mass eviction" thread. I'm 39+1.

Is sitting on a ball supposed to help bring on labour or is it just a good position to sit in to make sure the baby is head down? If it doesn't help start labour i'm inclined to just lie on the sofa Xmas Grin

Apologies for my disappearance last night Grin

The shock of Derek Branning and Kat sent me to hospital in a cab, by the time I got there I couldn't walk, and DD2 was delivered 35 mins later Shock.Nowt but gas and air! And happily no tearing.

SpottyTeacakes · 21/12/2012 19:40

Congratulations leo!

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 21/12/2012 19:54

Congratulations Leo do you have a name/weight for us?

I'm mumsnetting from under a nekkid baby to cheer me up after a day of feeling rubbish and crying. Definitely baby blues day

SpottyTeacakes · 21/12/2012 20:10

Oh WillYule look after yourself Thanks

I haven't cried once since ds was born, does that make me weird?! Confused

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 21/12/2012 20:17

Congratulations leo

spotty I've cried once but that's it and I'm pretty sure that was sleep deprivation! Lol

MyDaydream · 21/12/2012 20:19

Congratulations leo, so many fast births going on hope I get one.

Clarella · 21/12/2012 21:37

congrats Leo!

ladies feeling niggles I totally sympathise - I now know I definitely had real niggles weeks before and was totally convinced I had nothing more than constipation cramps on the way to my 42 week induction until the mw - pessary poised in hand - peered over her glasses at the printout monitoring me and said I think you're labouring ... the only major difference I can recall is being unable to sit down on anything other than the ball the previous eve and tremendous pressure down below which I honestly thought was constipation (and it was that as well but went on to have s small clear out just before jumping in the car to hospital)

and I did decide the bannisters needed cleaning at 8 pm.

a mw did say that the bouncing of baby's head against cervix while on ball helps release some hormones hence why during an induction they encourage lots of walking and stair climbing, nudging your cervix to begin dilating and migrating

sorry about that will u. I feel I get waves of sadness over my lack of xmas card efficiency mainly. but it feels so very sad.

Terrywoganstrousers · 21/12/2012 22:05

Congratulations to all the new mums and babies on the thread by the way!

DP has just rung and said he is going to come home tonight (I did say to him, you don't need to, and you'll probably get more sleep in the hotel!) so he's leaving in an hour and getting in at silly o'clock. I think he's mad to drive back now but he said he was wide awake and perhaps he will be awake all night wondering if i'm in labour or not (i'm not Grin)

Hormonalhell · 21/12/2012 22:59

Awwww I think that's so sweet terrywogan he sounds like a great hubby Smile

Terrywoganstrousers · 22/12/2012 00:17

Yes I think he's great too Grin
I'm surprised he's passing up a hotel stay which has already been paid for though, not sure I would! Especially as I put a waterproof sheet on the bed the other day to protect the expensive Tempur mattress from varying potential amounts of amniotic fluid, lochia and leaky breast milk, but unfortunately it rustles a bit HmmGrinand he has done nothing but moan!!

Terrywoganstrousers · 22/12/2012 00:18

Just felt the need to clean the fridge at 11.30pm, is this nesting?!

SilverLake · 22/12/2012 00:40

Clarella thanks for the answer to the ball question. I will make more of an effort to sit on it.

Terry, I would say it is! (unless this is something you might normally contemplate Grin). It's half past midnight and i can't sleep as i had a late nap. I'm tempted to start tidying but i'm lacking in motivation. I guess there's not much hope of my labour being imminent.

Congratulations to all the new mothers x

Clarella · 22/12/2012 01:27

ho ho terry maybe! a lovely dh indeed :)

silver I honestly don't know how accurate what she said is as I wondered if in relation to when they put the pessary in? but, definitely bounce on it after a sweep if u can :)

Terrywoganstrousers · 22/12/2012 02:52

Well Dp home and I think the baby has decided it can relax now he's home- all quiet here! DP convinced we will have a Christmas Day babyConfusedbut I'm starting to give up hope of it EVER coming out!GrinGrin

Stacks · 22/12/2012 09:18

Went in for induction this morning, but sent home as they have no beds. Just for to sit and wait for them to call now.

How is everyone this morning? The threads been quiet all night, no 3am wake-ups or middle of the night babies?

Terry hope your DH managed to get some sleep, or LO arrived to make his drive home worth it.

Leo congrats, another nice short labour. I'm getting a bit jealous of all these babies and quick not-too-painful labours. Really hoping my induction is quick and straight forward too.

blackcurrants · 22/12/2012 09:25

it's 4am here and I am wide awake. not so much as a twinge after yesterday's sweep, but for some bloody reason I can't sleep.

I worry we will have a Christmas baby too. Not that it's a worry exactly , but I feel pre-emptivly guilty about interrupting the Christmas of the friends who are looking after DS1 for us, the friends who are walking the dog, etc. Daft of me but still!
this is the first time being an expat has really hit home, if we were in the UK I know Mum would have come to.stay on the first phone call, for as long as we needed - which is DS1's idea of heaven!

Hormonalhell · 22/12/2012 09:54

Good luck today Nicnac how exciting you gonna have your baby before Xmas....am sooooooo Envy

All my family reckon I'm going to go into labour on Xmas day too....my mum is my birthing partner and she's cooking dinner for us all Grin

Terrywoganstrousers · 22/12/2012 10:26

No, no baby chez terry here Hmm
I did get a morning cuddle though which DP said 'this is what I've come home for'
SmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmile
(He must want something Hmm)

JoJoB77 · 22/12/2012 10:34

No baby here either! No real signs either.

Everyone is convinced baby will arrive on christmas day too. I love how everyone seems to have the wisdom of this Hmm

yuletopian99 · 22/12/2012 12:22

Snap. It'll be nice to have everyone at ours one way or another, but can't shake the feeling of guilt in not 'producing' before then, plus worried PILs will make a totally innocent comment about how nice it would have been if he'd been here by Christmas and I'll either burst into tears or say something snappy or both. Sad

MyDaydream · 22/12/2012 13:36

stacks hope you get the call soon.
terry sounds like you've got an a lovely DP there.
I'm not even thinking about Christmas Day birthday, its also my nieces birthday on the 25th so would like baby to have his own birthday really. I'm partly telling myself I'll be induced just to prepare myself, I really want him to come ASAP since DP is due back to work regardless on the 7th and I'd really like to have more than a week with him before I'm on my own.

cherrypiew3 · 22/12/2012 14:47

Hi just popping on will catch up later.

Dd was born on Wednesday weighing 7lb 3oz think the threat of induction scared me into labour.

itsMYNutella · 22/12/2012 14:47

stacks have everything crossed for you that they don't make you wait too long before calling you back to the hospital. And that the induction goes smoothlySmile

Terry your DP sounds like a real sweety. Sometimes my DP kisses my bump an tells the baby he loves it... Its all I can do not to cry Confused

Clarella thanks for the ball answer. I know it's also good for positioning baby... Now of course I'm bouncing up and down on it like a loon Grin
