At my acupuncture yesterday the midwife kept telling DP that lots of "love" will help get the baby out. Sadly DP was too tired last night (the big girl) and now whenever he asks what can he get me or what I want I simply shout "sperm" at him. Think he'll be in the mood any minute.... Xmas Grin

Stacks I'm 39 weeks today I cannot imagine how uncomfortable 40+11 is! Everything crossed that your sweep is majorly effective!

ellliebelle · 20/12/2012 09:58

Well i haf an eventful night.......should have listened to my instincts and called for a midwife at 1.30........fell asleep and woke up at 3.45 as my waters popped called hospital to send midwife out expkained about previous quick labor and that i was 4-5cm on saturday 20 mins later had to call again as no one had called to say someone was on the way and contractions were pretty much on top of each other started to feel the need to push but was too scared with no one there to deliver baby. Jumped in shower and dh delivered Oliver Samuel at 4.37am

My mum had just arrived to see to the dd's if they needed anything and called in to see if midwife had arrived and i shouted back 'no but baby has....' so she came to help me while dh called for ambulance as Oliver not crying an a bit blue 12 mins later and i had responder car and 2 ambulances they sorted Oliver and got me some g&a for placenta. Midwife finally arrived just gone 5 delivered placenta and did checks on us both.

Oliver weighed 8lb12 and had a good 20min bf we are now tucked up in bed keeping him warm as he was a little cold

I think it may have taken longer to type this than it did to give birth ......

SpottyTeacakes · 20/12/2012 10:05

Wow elliebelle what a story...well done and a pat on the back for DP! Welcome Oliver! WineThanks

MyDaydream · 20/12/2012 12:13

ellie pretty amazing birth story, what a shock. Congratulations on little Oliver.
I just got a "any news?" text from my DP. As if I wouldn't mention to him that I was in labour!

BuntysFestiveCollocks · 20/12/2012 12:24

Midwife came out today and had a little fiddle - still 1cm, soft and effacing, but cervix is more posterior. Good news - wedding here we come! Bad news - baby not imminent, despite shooting pains in fanjo, runny tum, and contractions on and off etc.

Next sweep booked a week today - 1 day before due date. I don't think I'll have a newborn for Christmas!

Hormonalhell · 20/12/2012 13:00

Grin at DP mydaydream

Yes bunty I've resigned myself to a fat Xmas too!! I too have been having sharp pains in fanjo

blackcurrants · 20/12/2012 13:10

ellie Your story has made me wonder if this (my second) will be quite quick too, since I'm 4cm already....
We're 40 mins from the hospital, which is why this is preying on my mind. And no homebirths in America (insurance won't cover it). Else I'd have definitely gone for one!

So happy for you to have your lovely little boy all snuggled up with you. Yay for snuggly little boys! I'm off for a walk to see if I can get this one moving...

pmgkt · 20/12/2012 14:33

Little Edward Oliver arrived at 1039 weighs 6lb 8 oz. He is fine, just sleeping. Spinal block is already wearing off which is really quick and I've already got some movement back in my legs.

annelid · 20/12/2012 14:36

Congratulations pmgkt!!!

JoJoB77 · 20/12/2012 14:38
