Babies are coming out fast!

Well i cant sleep tonight :( notvreally haf a problem all pregnancy this is prob only tbe 3rd night ive had trouble got a bad back but its quitehgh is the pain so think its posture rather than anything exciting :(

Oh bad luck. I am in New Jersey so.it's 10pm here and bedtime for me. Hope we all wake up rested and in established labour!

DH is being a good sport about "get this thing out of me!" sex. He says I'm gorgeous when pregnant, which is laughable but I am not going to disagree! Bloody tired though. . .zzzz

Jealous of your get it out of me sex blackcurrants, me and DP tried last night but I was so uncomfortable and DP so worried about hurting me we gave it up as a bad job and I cried.
I have a midwife appointment in 45 minutes but I'm all warm in bed I don't want to go.

We attempted 'the get this out of me' sex last week but was very awkward and so not romantic!

I cant even attempt it now as i'm in agony from falling on monday. The doctor has prescribed codeine so although im reluctant to take anything stronger than paracetamol, it hurts too much to be brave

Im happy for baby to stay put for a little while longer to give me chance to heal. Im seeing midwife today and will book in for a sweep on christmas eve (my birthday!). Could have a christmas day baby

Hi everyone. I'm another lurker, did introduce myself around the 12 week scan (how long ago does that feel?) but could never keep up to join in! I'm due Xmas eve with 1st dc.

I was convinced I would be an early labour but am now convinced I will be induced in January. Had some fairly strong BH last week but nothing for a couple of days.

Am starting to get irrationally anxious about dc and worrying about all the things that could go wrong. Have had easy pregnancy which I have loved but just want it over now so I can check lo, which is a shame.

Had mw yesterday and she measured me at 33cm at 39 weeks and has sent referral for growth scan but said they might not give me one as its the hospital who decides not the mw. I'm now even more anxious. The dr and mw seem to measure completely differently and dr is bigger and tends to match measurement to no of weeks but mw is much smaller. Am worried what a growth scan might show.

Anyway, hi everyone, loving the birth stories etc and will hopefully keep up now there's hardly anyone left!

I might be joining you Jojo as I'm now being sent home as everything settled and the hosp is very busy so they not even wanting to induce me now

Hospital just rung and they want me to go in for a scan tomorrow. Am really anxious now!

Just got back from midwife who offered me a Christmas eve sweep but I turned it down, so booked for one on the 27th instead. Was hoping she'd offer me one today, but she said since it wouldn't work she didn't want to make me uncomfortable for no reason. Was thinking get a sweep, put away 2pm shopping delivery that contains all my labour snacks, go into labour once DP gets home from work and give birth very early morning on 20/12/2012 would work quite well for me, but ahh well!
Welcome Nicnac, hope everything is okay with the scan, I'm sure everything will be fine in there and it's just some disagreement with how your Dr and your MW measure.
Hormonal did they say if they're going to try again another day or have they just sent you home to wait now?

Nothing doing after ragingly uncomfortable sweep yesterday, v peeved but dh is chilled and just says he'll be perfect whenever he arrives, which is sweet. Still blaming myself for failure to deliver though.
Am distracting myself by organising ALL house and work filing though, am two hours in and thoroughly enjoying myself! Must be the wierdest form of nesting in the world..

yule I love doing stuff like that I find it really theraputic, DP finds it really weird I'll happily spend an hour sorting out his expenses every month.

mydaydream no I just gotta wait it out, the doc was surprised I not in labour already but reckon its just days now. I'm only 36 week so guess I shouldnt moan,

nicnac I too gotta have a growth scan before I go home today as I'm tiny and have small babies but they wanna check he still growing. Try not to worry tho, at least they keeping an eye on you and u get to see baby

yule I'm going to go home and have a massive spring clean ready for Xmas and just stop thinking about what's going on inside me for awhile. Very therapeutic!!

Lo is still Mega active so not too worried that there's anything wrong as such as gut feeling tells me everything alright and baby is just comfy. That's what my rational brain is telling me anyway. Have been scared the whole time about having a big baby. I'm quite weighty and dp is tall so wondering how having a small bump will fit in that. Is it possible to have small Bump but mega baby?

Hope everyone else gets moving soon, sweeps don't sound fun, especially if they don't work!

Welcome nicnac, please don't worry about your scan, I know several women who've had extra scans due to measuring small and they've all been fine. The external measurements they do can be really hit-and-miss.

Yule and Hormonal if you want to come over here after you've done yours, I can't seem to get into the swing of it [looks at desk, glumly]

I went to see The Hobbit yesterday and while it is FAR too long for a pregnant bladder it was a gorgeous bit of escapism and really cheered me up. Planning a DVD session of the Lord of the Rings films for the rest of this weeks' afternoons. I have a midwives appt on Friday (usually go on Monday but the nice receptionist said "well, we're not open Christmas eve" and I nearly bawled at her at the very THOUGHT of still being pregnant on Christmas eve!

I'm not even due till 21st/22nd ... but for some reason the idea of going overdue is beyond comprehension (even though I did with DS1) and makes me into a tantrummy toddler. Heh. So, I am telling myself that I'll get another sweep on Friday, and if the worst comes to the worse, one on the Wednesday after that (boxing day). And then we'll probably talk about induction. BUT! That isn't going to happen because I am going to gently, beatifically, spontaneously go into labour ANY MOMENT NOW.

huh. Better get that DVD on...

Hi everyone - well, due date today and....nothing, except a string of annoying texts and facebook messages

Been offered a sweep on Christmas Eve as well, but I don't want it (flinch!), otherwise induction would be new year's day. I went into labour naturally with DD at 40 + 6, so am hoping it can't be longer than that second time around...

Nicnac I had exactly that with DD, midwife measured me at 30cm at 38 weeks - had scan and everything was absolutely fine. Consultant actually said measuring bump is pretty inaccuate anyway Good luck x

x post nicnac, sorry. Sweeps aren't fun, and they're fickle, so much happens afterwards you get all excited and then it all dies down . Not always though - they do work for lots of people, so I think they're definitely still worth having.

leo thanks for that. Have been scouring google for reassuring stories, which actually is all I seem to find but seem to keep searching until I find the bad news story! Bad google.

rudolph maybe sweep will still work? I'm booked for one on new years eve which is ages away! Really hoping we meet lo before that but only if it's because lo decides it that way, not because anything is wrong!!!!

Yes it still might, but I'm booked in for an induction tomorrow so it had better hurry up . By this point I'm basically just happy to meet the baby however it works out (am 12 days over now), but I'm feeling really hormonal so I keep changing my mind about whether to be worried or not!

nic I had to have a growth scan for dodgy measuring and everything was fine. MW had been measuring me bang on throughout but the Dr I saw measured me a few weeks early. It's hard to get accurate, the doctor measured just the bump while my MW goes down to the pubic bone. And I had to tell one student MW that maybe she should move the tape measure a bit further up because she was a long way off appropriate touching!

And then just wanted to say I've been for some acupuncture, which was interesting. They offered sticking me in places for relaxing or in places that might encourage some contractions. Obviously I opted for the contractions :) they also put in some needles to help against the water retention (FX that works!!) But the bean did a lot of wriggling while I was laying there relaxing, maybe it knew what I was up to

Also the PIL came round on Monday to check out our baby preparations (way over excited first time grandparents, MIL almost cried - and ) then MIL was going on about a cushion for the buggy/pram to cover the baby and keep it warm (they seem rather popular here - can't say I'm a fan, they look ridiculous, like someone has either tried to a) stuff a duvet into a pram or b) smother the baby with pillow ) from what I understand out a foot bag/sack cosy toes thing will be much more practical and much more use but DP told me today that MIL couldn't sleep a wink Monday night because she is so worried about our baby freezing to death honestly! what a massive overreaction! Soo annoyed about it!!! I know she is a champion worrier but seriously woman, get a grip!
