Congratulations WillYule.
Stacks fingers crossed you can have your sweep today.
Hope your okay JoJo, sounds painful.
I'm dreading the "any news" texts, although think DP will get it worse than me. He had to tell his mum to stop panicking when he called at the weekend because even at this stage it was much more likely he was calling for a chat than because of some huge labour emergency!

yuletopian99 · 17/12/2012 09:07

I'm only two days late and ready to kill the next person who texts me. Particularly relatives in law.

ellliebelle · 17/12/2012 09:25

Im 39 weeks and had to tell my mum yesterday to stop texting me and now she is in a strop with me......i feel thi is rather childish as she would be the first to know if anything was happening and i now feel inclined to not tell her anything until baby arrives :( im so annoyed with her as i feel stressed out enough without her falling out with me

Congrats willyule looking forward to your birth story :)

knotty are you having your elcs today?

itsMYNutella · 17/12/2012 09:28

I'm due on 27/12 and a friend asked on FB a week or two ago and I replied with "still pregnant"! She was a really good friend when we lived closer but I haven't heard much from here the last two years ish and it did really bug me. I've also started to tell people that the baby will probably arrive in January. Fortunately DP will probably get the majority of frustrating enquiries from the PILs Xmas Grin

Oh the joy of being "the good hope" as DP's slightly crazy but loveable old aunt told me a few months back Xmas Smile. Those providing first grandchildren definitely need extra support! But don't get me wrong I know the ILs have the best intentions.

itsMYNutella · 17/12/2012 09:29

ellie my Mum is being deliberately cool and not asking. But then she is a clever old goat thing and knows that if she wants up to the minute news she needs to leave me be. :)

ellliebelle · 17/12/2012 10:45

Well ive heard from my mum tjis morning when i asked her why she was in a strop i got a text saying she isnt stropping just thought it best not to text so she didnt get another upsetting reply from me.....all i said was i needed her to stop asking how i am as i will tell her when anything happens i really dont feel IBU surely if you cant ask this of your mum who can you ask.....

itsMYNutella · 17/12/2012 10:53

ellie that is a bit harsh of your mum! YADNBU! :) It definitely isn't the time for her to make you worry about her feelings.

yuletopian99 · 17/12/2012 11:04

Ellie that's not unreasonable at all! My mum is fine but went way over with us so I expected her to be. I sent a message to my dh's cousin yesterday to say happy birthday and she wrote back saying "thanks, I'd hoped to share it with a little (surname)"! Why is it suddenly acceptable to make us feel like faulty incubators??

Hormonalhell · 17/12/2012 11:26

Because I had two premature labours and was in hosp with this one at 20 and 30 weeks people are asking me where the baby is and I'm not even due for 4 weeks!!!!

MyDaydream · 17/12/2012 12:04

ellie not an unreasonable ask at all.
We've told everyone from the get go they won't be getting a call until he's here and we've had a cuddle, although I imagine DP will text his mum on the sly when I'm not looking, but she's the type to worry if she's not had a reply to a text within the hour. My mum has asked once, but it was more of a joke ask than a serious one.

RudolphTheRedNosedGiraffe · 17/12/2012 12:04

Congratulations willyule! Thanks

Stacks I hope baby has moved and you got your sweep successfully. I had one this morning and was pleased with how much things had changed since the last, unsuccessful attempt on Friday. Though the midwife did say it doesn't mean I'll necessarily go into labour before my induction date... they're never optimistic, are they?

I had loads of texts etc on my due date and the day after, but it did get a bit better after a day or so, especially after we'd pointedly told everyone that we will definitely tell them when the baby's arrived! So take hope, it might get better. Yesterday I did have an older lady ask me in front of her husband if I'd had any early signs of labour yet, which I thought was a bit weird, especially given what the signs might be! Hmm

yuletopian99 · 17/12/2012 15:37

Hoping the texts do taper off a bit!

I am 40 + 2 now and have just had my first serious session of accupuncture to start things. They say it can vary from 3-60 hours to take effect though.. Was seriously intense - I feel like I've been punched in the back!

JoJoB77 · 17/12/2012 17:18

Utopian my friend had acupuncture when she was overdue with her first. Hoping it works well for you!

JoJoB77 · 17/12/2012 17:19

I suppose i should have added that she was convinced it helped to bring on her labour, think she was atound a week overdue.

MyDaydream · 17/12/2012 17:37

yule hope the acupuncture works and brings on labour soon.
Spoke to my dad today who told me he's been turning down nights out in case I go into labour when he's drunk and he has to rush off! He's a very excited first time grandad, I didn't have the heart to tell him I'm having afternoon visiting only so he can drink as much as he wants.

emilyeggs · 17/12/2012 19:21

I've had a few people ask already if I've had the baby and I'm not due till the 28thShocki just said "yeah but didn't tell you" Grin

ellliebelle · 17/12/2012 19:32

This thread is so quiet now everyones moved over to postnatal i might have to mooch on over for a read :)

Hormonalhell · 17/12/2012 19:55

I know ellie like a ghost town init? I keep looking to see if anything exciting happening Smile

Terrywoganstrousers · 17/12/2012 20:05

I'm still here!Grin
Had a busy day today- blitzed house top to bottom and scrubbed all floors on hands and knees, and just having a lovely bath with some jasmine oil. I have had a few contractions on and off but nothing really painful or regular so not getting too excited! DP working late tonight anyway so he won't be home until 10.30-11pm. It would be nice to have some exciting news when he gets home but not going to hold my breath!Smile

emilyeggs · 17/12/2012 20:10

Just laughed in the face of Sunday and cooked a roast dinner....can't move now though Confused

Hormonalhell · 17/12/2012 20:15

Same here terry was gonna start timing but they seem to have tailed off....again!! Had bad night last night though as baby thrashing about so could do with a good night's sleep anyway. My son gone on his residential this week, he's hoping he got his little brother when he gets home Friday Hmm

pmgkt · 17/12/2012 20:38

No real change here, except lots of rib pain and indigestion. The anithatist has been around to do my pre op run through, 2 more days to go and I can't wait to feel normal again. It's a huge bump now and I'm struggling to bend, sit, lie, stand, well anything.

Terrywoganstrousers · 17/12/2012 20:59

I had a dreadful night too hormonal- had to get up for two hours in the night as I was so uncomfortable and was aware I was disturbing DP. am shattered now so a good sleep is probably best before I try and have a baby anyway! Feeling nice and relaxed after my bath anyway, so I might try and catch an hours shut eye before DP gets in.

PMG, you have my sympathies re the indigestion, the bump has dropped but it seems to be as bad as ever for me!

Is anyone else tempted to have a rummage and investigate their own cervix? Don't really know what to feel for though and a bit frightened of causing some problem!

Terrywoganstrousers · 17/12/2012 21:03

Emily- I did that last Monday as i'd been too tired on the sunday to so the joint i'd bought- and regretted it!
I must be a glutton for punishment though as I asked DP if he wanted me to do a roast yesterday and he looked at me like I was mad ( and then cooked dinner for meGrin)
