leobear · 15/12/2012 19:51

Terry, are you me? [grin} I've had Nando's tonight, and now sitting complaining about bad low backache....

And congratulations queen - a massive well done

yuletopian99 · 15/12/2012 20:26

I've been having backache and periody pain all day on and off, but nothing conclusive enough to mean anything. Angry
Have also had nothing like a show/waters, but from what people were saying earlier this might never come. Am assuming that things need to be feeling a lot fiercer to be useful..

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 15/12/2012 20:36

Hello all, 1st pessary when in at 3pm glad I was here at 8:30 as directed had horrendous back pain continuously ever since. Had 2 codeine and a bath and I'm now having regular but bearable contractions approx every 6min. Am only 1cm, in it for the long haul I think!

DP has been sent home, he is not happy!

SpottyTeacakes · 15/12/2012 20:41

Oh WillYou good luck! That's quite quick to start contracting so hopefully it won't be too long Smile how do you feel about dh being sent home? I found sitting a lying really painful but all fours and rocking seemed to help!

ellliebelle · 15/12/2012 20:45

Ive also just back from nandos although im not brave and dont have it really spicey it was yummy though no signs of labour which is pretty rubbish really :(

Terrywoganstrousers · 15/12/2012 20:50

Sadly I think the backache was just from sitting in the car Sad
It's gone off now and DP and DD are laughing at my disappointmentHmm

Maybe I need to break out the evening primrose oil! I will also be seducing DP later Grin

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 15/12/2012 20:51

Spotty, they think they can't quite break my waters yet but nearly. It's a bit rubbish he's gone, he was a very useful back rubber and we were playing a game of 20 questions Xmas Grin Codeine making me all floaty though so I'm quite chilled

itsMYNutella · 15/12/2012 20:51

Xmas Hmm having back pains and period type pains.... Xmas Confused I've not told DP about the pain because I don't want him to be Shock and make him worried, I'm only 38+2 is my body just giving me an early taste of what to expect?
Have also been to the loo, (sorry TMI alert) those whose bodies have kindly "cleared out" pre labour was it... Ahem, loose? Or just that you went suddenly more than normal?

leobear · 15/12/2012 21:10

Nutella, I've been loose on and off Blush since about 36 weeks, but it hasn't come to anything yet - I think it can just be the pressure of the baby on your colon (nice).....but equally have heard loads of other people say this is how they got started (sorry, not much help!)

SpottyTeacakes · 15/12/2012 21:12

It could be the start of something nutella but could just be pre labour and calm down in a bit.

I feel for you not having your dh there wiillyule dp didn't leave my side from the pessary going in until a few hours after ds was born. My hospital allows partners to stay but I think with most inductions they advise partners to go home, probably didn't with us as I'd had it in at nine in the morning, was second baby and pre term. Sorry I'm babbling Blush

itsMYNutella · 15/12/2012 21:21

Thanks Leo and spotty at the mo every time the bean has a stretch I can feel it twanging deep down in the fanjo area so I'm wondering if it's engaged today Hmm. But first I'm going to beg the bean for decent nights sleep!!! it's my bedtime, I am so tired.

willyule everything crossed for you and hope that DP can make it to you quickly If he needs to! Must be so frustrating for you both not to be together right now.

Night night ladies. Hope everyone has a blissful nights sleep!

yuletopian99 · 15/12/2012 21:38

Hi again, sorry to sound idiotic but what do contractions feel like? Just higher and lower waves of pain/discomfort, or are the times inbetween when it stops feeling of anything?

yuletopian99 · 15/12/2012 21:40

And does the baby get much more active?

SpottyTeacakes · 15/12/2012 22:01

It's different for everyone. I had a constant backache but the contractions radiated from the dimples in my back, round my hips and to the front where you get period pains. I don't recall movements of ds

FriendofDorothy · 15/12/2012 22:12

My birth story was a bit of a swift one.

I had been having discharge for about 4-5 days and I thought it might have been my mucus plug deteriorating but wasn't sure.

I woke up at about 4.30am on Friday 14 December with what felt like period type cramps and phoned the maternity ward. One of the midwives suggested that I go into a bath for a while to see if that helped. So, I got into the bath at about 5.15am and continued to have cramps and then when I got out of the bath things really ramped up. I was trying hard not to be too noisy as I didn?t want to wake up everyone else in the house. I had more bloody discharge and then I was sat on the loo when my waters broke. It was very strange because I heard an audible pop.

The Mister hooked up the TENS machine which helped a bit but as the contractions were mainly in my stomach and not my back I think it was more of a distraction technique than anything else. At 7am I phoned the ward again and they told me to come straight in. In the car on the way to the hospital my contractions were 2-3 minutes apart and when I got to the maternity ward they did an examination and found out that I was fully dilated. The contractions were so intense that I told the midwife that if she told me I was only 2cm I was going to cry!

So, we arrived on the ward at 7.35am with incredibly strong contractions. There was no time for anything like the nice peaceful water birth that I had planned and just using gas and air Edward James made an appearance at 8.13am weighing 7lbs 6.5oz. He is absolutely beautiful and we are completely smitten with him. Due to the speed of his arrival and the strength of my contractions I had a rather nasty second degree tear which required some expert stitching. Every single stitch it worth it though.

He was worth the wait and worth the pain.

leobear · 15/12/2012 22:15

Hi yule - with my DD, I had a very long early phase - took 18 hours to get to 3cm, but I just knew when it very first started that I was having contractions. It was the regular nature of them, and the very gradual increase in intensity that made it different from earlier cramping/discomfort. Like Spotty, I can't remember the movements. Hang in there!!

Hormonalhell · 15/12/2012 22:19

When I get them it comes in waves I feel them build up but then they disintegrate before they can amount to anything really painful but the time in between there is nothing. I've been having them today on and off but not in a regular pattern and also had backache all day too. My baby is just as active when I have the contractions too but I'm that tender all over now he hurts when he kicks and stretches.

Hope that helps Smile

brooke89 · 15/12/2012 22:34

Nutella - mine were extremely loose

yuletopian99 · 15/12/2012 22:44

hormonal i think I'm like you, they're all.over the shop. Had some that seemed to last quite painfully for at least 15 minutes at a time, then went away for a good 20 minutes then one that lasted max 2 minutes? Am assuming this means it could go on like this for days before becoming anything more.. Or could it just give up and nothing happen for another week or two?

Bellaboo123 · 15/12/2012 23:40

Yule mine were like that and it turned out I was in labour but I think everyone is different...sorry not much help!

Hormonalhell · 16/12/2012 00:39

I think I'm in slow labour but I've had these tightenings for weeks now so possibly not, my body really been messed about this time round tho for sure!

Got heartburn tonight Sad not had it once throughout pregnancy and my back hurts n I peed 3 times since coming to bed tonight.

Hope u get some rest yule

2blessed · 16/12/2012 01:18

I'm finally in bed after baking, prepping and cleaning ready for my housewarming afternoon tea that my friends are organising for me tomorrow. All quiet here, no pains or cramps Sad.
Thought something might have been happening earlier as I felt a slight trickle but it was just discharge or maybe mucus plug? Scared my girlfriends though!

2blessed · 16/12/2012 01:20

Could really do with a foot massage right now...

2blessed · 16/12/2012 01:21

And nandos after reading previous posts.....

yuletopian99 · 16/12/2012 04:12

Still on and off and no progression here. Have managed the odd 2-hour sleep in between so not bad and we'll see if anything changes but i don't hold out wild hope for now..
