WillYuleDoTheFandango · 14/12/2012 22:45

Hope this one works for you Gils, did the mw tell you anything when they came round or will they assess you just before pessary?

pmgkt · 14/12/2012 22:52

Willyule, my Hubby works for local authority so lots of others there and they are no better. He is taking additional unpaid leave when the baby has been born and his boss has said he may need to ring him most days to get advice on stuff. F off is my thought. He needs to switch off when he comes home tonight and turn off his phone. They have had notice of it so they need to deal with it.

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 14/12/2012 22:58

Glad it's not just me. I may smash his work phone in a mid-labour tantrum if they ring!

Stacks · 14/12/2012 22:59

WillYule YANBU. Fact.

Though have they tried to find cover, or just sat on their arses with their heads in the sand? If the latter, I'd tell them to F-off and deal with it. They should be able to put in the extra hours instead of your DH. If they've tried to find cover and can't... it's still their responsibility to cover for him, but I'd tell them to F-off in a nicer way...

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 14/12/2012 23:10

They have started to look for cover - this Wed when we found out I was being induced tomorrow. They thought it was going to be Monday and have known this for 12 weeks. He's home now and has told them there will be no more 15h shifts! To add insult to injury the bosses wife has written on Facebook "Feel like a work widow, will (DH) ever come home?". Xmas Angry It's their profits and she's not having a baby! Rar!

Hormonalhell · 14/12/2012 23:29

Yes I'm emetophobic too mrsmiller, I'm having this baby on my own too as dad not interested so gotta get over it somehow Smile

Hormonalhell · 14/12/2012 23:34

Hope the 2nd one works gils and things get moving!! Not nice in hosp I know too well but at least you'll be leaving with your bubba Smile

MyDaydream · 15/12/2012 00:04

gils good luck.
willyule totally not your DPs problem, I hate take the piss employers and they really deserve to be let down this time, 30 weeks is long enough to put a plan in place for a short absence. Hope your DP has the balls to turn his phone off and ignore them until he's due back to work.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 15/12/2012 00:08

willyou YANBU at all. I'd smash the phone!

2blessed · 15/12/2012 00:15

YANBU willyule!

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 15/12/2012 00:26

Thanks all, off to try to sleep now. Getting a little nervous!

Good luck to everyone else Thanks

Terrywoganstrousers · 15/12/2012 00:27

Leobear- DC2 here, went to 40+2 with Dd.
still here with no signs Hmm
I am very peed off at the potential for another four weeks of this.

gilsbubbles · 15/12/2012 01:03

2nd one not needed, I'm already at 4cm Grin so midwife just did a sweep instead. She hopes that will get my cervix to thin out a bit more. Gonna be a long night

Bellaboo123 · 15/12/2012 01:39

Good luck Gils Smile

QueenoftheHolly · 15/12/2012 02:22

Hello all!
Can't remembers last post as it feels like lots has happened!

So DH & I proud owners of brand new baby boy Xmas Grin. Name tbc but a lot of pressure from me will hopefully / probably be Kit (from Christopher.) TBC!

Birth story rather horrendous & don't want to be voice of doom amongst so many good stories but I certainly proved many of the first timers theories correct;
Overdue by quite a while & examination / sweep showed still miles off being ready.

Decision for induction made.

Induction methods really struggled against my body's refusal to go into labour, so got more & more full on methods, either incredibly fast or suddenly stopped altogether if reduced.

Epidural suddenly stopped working so was thrown into intensely powerful contractions when on cytocin drip.
All this happened throughout last night But by morning time had had 2nd epidural, fully floated & ready to push. Also com

QueenoftheHolly · 15/12/2012 02:45

... Completely exhausted by craziness of previous night with so many intensive contractions (obv did not abuse gas & air for hours when waiting for anaesthetist to return, and end up completely high, in agony but strangely happy)
This morning spent 3 hours pushing exhaustively whilst behind the scenes Drs & midwives organised EMCS in theatre, as they already knew my enemdeavours hopeless as LO & I back to back. I had no idea.

Rushed into theatre for forceps / CS, & ended with c section this afternoon.
Completely thoroughly knackered & bewildered. Did all stages of labour except give birth. But now struggling to move or properly even cuddle LO.

Soooo in love with him though, all totally worth it & DH proved himself a star (& a guaranteed baby bore Hmm )

Sorry if TMI & I think mine is unusual in that things were unexpected & a few things went wrong that don't generally. I guess

My biggest moral is trust your own judgement
One midwife told me my contractions were pessary 'twinges' thus terrifying me of what an actual contraction would be like. I was 4cm dilated Confused

I knew something wasn't quite right about 1st epi but anaesthetist didn't listen as in a rush.

SpottyTeacakes · 15/12/2012 05:29

Congratulations queen sorry you had a hard time Sad hope you're looking after yourself

HoneyMumandSon · 15/12/2012 05:36

Congratulations queen and well don't on getting through all that.

QueenoftheHolly · 15/12/2012 05:40

Thanks so much spotty feel bad for writing in such detail, & hope that others aren't upset by it.
We all survived (in fact thrived - he's a total piglet & latched on for 2.5 hrs immediately after birth!!) & it's just going to be part of my history now.
Next time abit less medical perhaps!

Wishing everyone the very best with last few days of symptoms, cramps bed-turnovering etc. words can't explain the wonderfulness of the baby at the end!!!
See you on the PN thread -gosh!

2blessed · 15/12/2012 05:40

Congratulations queen, hope you get some rest and enjoy those snuggles.

SpottyTeacakes · 15/12/2012 05:54

You are probably in shock from all that its good to hear that your ds is doing so well Smile

yuletopian99 · 15/12/2012 06:18

Congratulations queen, glad he is out and happy, and although a bit medical am choosing to see your story as positive - they do come out, by one means or another!

WeeJo08 · 15/12/2012 06:46

Congratulations Queen Thanks and welcome Kit I mean BabyQueen! Wink

knottyhair · 15/12/2012 07:06

Hi all. I hardly ever post (so fast moving!) but hope it's OK to add myself to the list. 2 more sleeps until my ELCS. Congratulations to those who've already had their gorgeous babies, and hope the rest of you aren't hanging around too long!
