I saw mw today for usual antenatal check and she told me they do sweeps at 40+7 which, if i need one by then, will be Christmas Eve, my birthday!Confused

I'm really hoping baby comes on time pleeease! Grin

Hormonalhell · 13/12/2012 16:54

I hated the sensation afterwards with epidural too, was a horrible birth. With DD I could walk around straight after and had a bath which was like the best bath in the world!!

brooke89 · 13/12/2012 16:57

I was sick as hell all throughout labor - projectile vomiting on DP I remember looking up at one point and he looked like he'd wet himself and I said what a shot haha

spicegirl13 · 13/12/2012 16:58

Oh JoJo hope it doesn't all kick off on Christmas Eve! My birthday's on Christmas Day & I'll be 40+5 by then. Also hoping I'm on time to avoid another Christmas birthday in the family. Are you listening babies??!!

I had g&a & pethidine last time, hoping to avid pethidine this time as DD was born very drowsy & we had lots of feeding problems because of it. Although saying that, I'll also take whatever's offered in the heat of the moment (am not great with pain!) ConfusedConfused

MyDaydream · 13/12/2012 17:11

I'm looking to avoid a birthday baby on the 23rd, and my Neice is a Christmas Day baby so would rather not go then either. Feel a bit sorry for my family with all the December birthdays in the family.

spicegirl13 · 13/12/2012 17:26

Gosh busy time of year for us all! DH's birthday is the 17th! Very badly timed this pregnancy Wink

FriendofDorothy · 13/12/2012 17:27

Mr birthday is 23 December and I will be 37. My husband is convinced that our baby is going to arrive on 22 Dec as he was born on the eve of his mothers 37th birthday.

SpottyTeacakes · 13/12/2012 17:32

Dp was worried ds would arrive on his birthday which is the eighteenth Grin he didn't even make December though Hmm

2blessed · 13/12/2012 17:41

Fingera crossed jojo that lo arrives before 24th

friend that would be a little spooky but ultimately cool

JoJoB77 · 13/12/2012 18:04

Wow December definitely is the month for babies! There must have been nothing on tele in March is our house Grin

Stacks · 13/12/2012 18:50

Had my midwife app thus afternoon. Baby has moved back to back, and is less engaged than 2 weeks ago. So, no sweep and another app on Monday. Hopefully he'll have turned and lowered by then. I'll be 40+8 then, and inductions are booked here for 40+13.. so 22nd.

Bit disappointed, back to feeling like having a baby is still ages away. I have to remember though, he could turn up any time, being engaged doesn't mean that much.

Those of you with birthdays really near Christmas. Do you like it? Did you hate it growing up? I always imagined a Christmas birthday as being no fun, now it looks like we're going to be really close to Christmas with this LO and just want some reassurance he won't be forever disappointed with his birthday.

FriendofDorothy · 13/12/2012 19:15

When I was younger my birthday was always celebrated on 23 of November. When I was at uni it was great having a birthday so near to Christmas because I was always home.

spicegirl13 · 13/12/2012 20:03

When I was younger we always did Christmas Day first then did my birthday presents in the evening. And more recent I've started celebrating it on Christmas Eve as it keeps the actual day free for DD's Christmas presents!

It's not great, but I've never known any different so I couldn't imagine having a summer birthday.

Guess there's nothing any of us can do about it anyway! Just worried that I'll miss DD opening her presents on Christmas morning ??

JoJoB77 · 13/12/2012 20:04

I've always loved having my birthday so close to Christmas, guess it's all i've ever known so it's always been a novelty. My parents always made sure it was celebrated separate to Christmas which was lovely.

It's less of a novelty now i'm the wrong side of 30, i'd much rather forget it Grin

Stacks · 13/12/2012 20:09

spice it is what is is, and after the struggle we had to conceive this LO at all, I'm just grateful. With EDD as the 9th, I guess I thought it wouldn't be too bad, as it was very early in Dec. the pessimist in me now is expecting an induction on the 22nd though!

FoD I guess we could just choose another day of the year for a birthday celebration. I wondered initially about a half birthday - celebrating 1.5, 2.5 etc. I wonder how many people would think it was silly and just ignore it anyway. Good for middle years when they might like trips to the zoo, amusement parks etc.

It'll all work out as it should, I'll be happy whenever he appears as long as its soon.

MyDaydream · 13/12/2012 20:43

I cared more when I got to my teen years and wanted to go to the pub for my birthday and my friends had to go visit relatives instead. When I was younger there was always a good film out for a birthday cinema trip and I was never in school for my birthday. I also took advantage of joint day gifts so I could ask for something more expensive.

RudolphTheRedNosedGiraffe · 13/12/2012 21:38

My birthday falls in between Christmas and New Year! How odd that there's so many of us. I also liked asking for one big gift to cover both occasions if I wanted something more expensive. There was a stage growing up when I wished my birthday was closer to the middle of the year but it was only really because if I thought of something I wanted I'd have to wait ages before a 'present' occasion came round and I could have it. My parents suggested celebrating in the summer as a solution but they said I'd have to wait 1.5 years in between birthday presents rather than half a year, so I declined. (I guess it was all about the presents for me Blush!).

It's easy enough to have a party with schoolfriends either earlyish December or mid January, to avoid people being unavailable. I've been known to do it in April before now as I suddenly realised we hadn't done anything!
It was also great never having to go to school on your birthday Xmas Smile.

emilyeggs · 13/12/2012 23:15

I thought about doing a party mid summer for bubs if it's too close. Will see what happens.
Had a consultant app today to discuss growth scan, they happy to leave me now it's not so big Sad. No mention of sweep or anything, I'm 37+6. Head not engaged either.

Just got out of bed as I'm too uncomfortabel tonight, feel winded and bump hurts plus my nose has seemed blocked all pregnancy Confused how are you all turning over in bed? I can't do it without practically getting up!

gilsbubbles · 14/12/2012 00:06

Induction booked for 4 pm tomorrow but I'm going to bed with low back pain and increasingly uncomfortable cramping.....fingers crossed

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 14/12/2012 00:14

Fx for you Gils maybe the threat of induction had scared the baby out!

Emily I know what you mean, I can only turn over now by doing a sort of crab/body slam movement! And getting out of bed is so hard I have considered wetting myself rather than getting up for that third nighttime wee!

brooke89 · 14/12/2012 00:33

Sounds promising gils fingers crossed!

2blessed · 14/12/2012 01:12

Fingers crossed for you gils

emily I turn over via my back with heavy use of my legs up by my knees. Always get a pulling feeling in my fanjo but find this way less exhausting than getting on to all fours.oh the strategies...

MyDaydream · 14/12/2012 01:12

Rolling over in bed for me is a slow wriggle that takes an age. Or if DP is awake he'll push me!
Fingers crossed for you gils.
I've been having back pain and some cramps all evening but don't think anything is happening. DP is hoping it goes on a bit longer so he doesn't have to go to work tomorrow under the pretence of worrying about me, but that I hold onto baby for another week.

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 14/12/2012 02:43

Up and throwing up. I'm not getting my hopes up though, everyone I know seems to have a stomach bug at the minute Xmas Envy

Barbeasty · 14/12/2012 03:52

Well I've woken up with bleeding so have to go into the main hospital triage now, because they're worried it might be the placenta. At the 36 week scan they thought it had moved, but couldn't find it.

Definitely having contractions across the bottom of the bump.

But having real problems dropping DD at MIL, because the road is like an ice rink. DH is gritting ahead of him to make a path to walk up the drive! And it's still a half hr drive to hospital.

The sibling rivalry is starting. It's DD's first ever nativity this afternoon. Guess her brother didn't want me to watch!
