Ha mydaydream sounds very practical your DH Grin

yuletopian99 · 12/12/2012 17:10

I'm another who's had the 12.12.12 texts - not even due till Sat. Lots of prep pains but not expecting anything till at least 40+7 as my mother was seriously late with my bro and me, although that's a bit close to Christmas for my liking.

Have accupuncture 'starting' sessions booked for 40+2 and 40+5 to hopefully give him no choice but to leave! Had a nice chat with mil earlier, am trying to dampen her expectations of him arriving on time!

It seems a lot quieter on here with half of us in post natal...

emilyeggs · 12/12/2012 17:33

yule I'm still hear....I've gotten so bored on mat leave I can't even rouse myself to post! At least some of us are having signs....I've had nothing. No plug no BH no cramps, don't even think baby has dropped Sad. I've spoken to no one all day (except DH) but he won't be home till late after seeing his dd nativity play (would like to have gone but it upsets the ex) and taking his ds out. At least my tens turned up today so I had a play with that. Sorry for massively depressing post

MyDaydream · 12/12/2012 17:41

That's one word hormonal! He's now said we can if I want to because he feels bad. He's either been talking to his colleagues or he's a secret MNetter.

Equimum · 12/12/2012 17:57

Good luck queen and gils.

Sorry to hear you're not enjoying mat leave so far emily. I kind of know where you're coming from, though, as I don't see anyone except DH most days. Can you set yourself tasks for each day? Sounds stupid, but I'm trying to lift my spirits by creating 'to do' lists which I can then tick off. At least I feel I'm achieving something this way....although I'm not sure cavity how important washing the lampshades was!

QueenoftheHolly · 12/12/2012 18:06

Hello again.
The most boring time ever waiting entire day for pessary prescription. Only just about to start me on my first pessary. Here's hoping it works. Having had worlds most uneventful, average pregnancy I didn't envisage so much waiting in hospital at this stage.

Oh well. I guess things will liven up eventually!

emily I got very fed with my own company too. MN helped!

RudolphTheRedNosedGiraffe · 12/12/2012 18:23

Hmmm, no 12/12 babies then? Unless someone gets in quick in the next few hours! DH had been hoping ours would, but I'm pretty sure it's not going to happen now, unless I have one of those 'sat down on the toilet and the baby nearly fell out' births!

Emily do you know anyone locally who has young children who you could meet for coffee or something? It's really helped me to go visiting a couple of times a week. Also, most mums & toddlers groups are welcoming to pregnant ladies who want to do a bit of socialising before the birth, so if there are any in your area it might be worth visiting them, although I guess next week will be the last before the Christmas holidays for those. I've been going to the mums & tots group at my church for ages now, although that's a bit different because I know several of the mums there already, but I was also invited to another randomly in a coffee shop recently (unfortunately they're both at the same time!). It's helpful to have a reason to get out of the house as well as being able to make some friends who'll be available during the week once the baby's born. I can't remember when you're due, sorry, hopefully not too much longer now anyway, and some people don't get any signs at all until proper labour starts so don't worry too much about not having any.

emilyeggs · 12/12/2012 18:36

Thanks ladies, some good ideas, never thought about a baby group. Due on the 28 so two weeks left (or 4). Trying to set tasks, and meet people but not lived hear that long so don't really know anyone, plus going out cost money if we go for lunch and I don't drive do am a bit stuck. I'll be ok tomorrow, just feeling sorry for myself but should realise its not for long and I'm really very lucky

2blessed · 12/12/2012 18:59

Good luck queen

emily this is my 2nd week of leave and I am sooooo bored!

gilsbubbles · 12/12/2012 19:17

I've got to agree with the approach of setting tasks each day, it's helped keep me sane (ish) over the last few weeks.
I trend to do something practical one day then indulgent the next.
Monday was a picnic in the car while listening to the archers before a walk along the beach. Just getting out the house and chatting to random dog walkers really helped lift my spirits.

MyDaydream · 12/12/2012 20:10

emily I'm with you on boredom, I've been off since August and get so excited when DP gets home from work just to talk to someone. I don't think it's helped my energy levels, especially since my back has been bad, I've been fairly inactive.

Hormonalhell · 12/12/2012 20:12

I'm toooootally bored now too, I start

Hormonalhell · 12/12/2012 20:14

Ooooops Grin ....started maternity leave at 28 weeks!! Wish I hadn't now but hosp advised it as I'd been in twice with labour pains Hmm

Sometimes I get up with no energy whatsoever to even get dressed Sad

ellliebelle · 12/12/2012 20:32

im also bored on second week of mat leave :(

Good luck queen hope your sweep works gils

Quick question ive been havingvthe stabbing pains in my cervix for quite a few weeks now. Tonight i have just started to have similar pains right in the bottom of my bump never experienced this before so a bit worried although it is only happening when baby moves so wondering if its maybe just nerve pain. Any ideas?

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 12/12/2012 20:43

I'm also on week two of mat leave, but have had plans pretty much every day so I'm feeling the opposite - I'd kill for a sit down an do nothing day! I plan on spending Friday doing just that as my last day without a baby!

Ellie I've had the shooty nerve pain at the bottom if the bump, does changing position (all fours) help at all?

RockabillyKitty · 12/12/2012 21:10

Just contributing to this post as I'll just scrape in hopefully! Due 30 Dec!! Not even on maternity leave yet so no time to be bored/overthink things. The birth stories on here are really useful to read. Finishing work on Friday so I'm sure I'll be around MN more next week. Good luck to everyone and see you soon Xmas Grin

emilyeggs · 12/12/2012 21:17

Oops, seem to have started a boredom theme. We'll all have to keep each others spirits up! (just wish it was the g&t type of spirit) Wink

itsMYNutella · 12/12/2012 21:22

emily I think it the anticipation and it's all rather a non event beforehand... I've been winding down work for what feels like ages and am easily bored and rubbish at motivating myself now it's snowing here and they don't seem to be very good at gritting/ clearing the paths so I'm not really able to go out as much as I'd like Confused ... but I'm trying to enjoy it. I've got our bean's area/corner all ready now. The hospital bags are packed.... it's all a bit scary too if I think about it too much... so instead... hmmm gin!! Would so love a G&T! I have had the odd glass of red wine, and I've really enjoyed them :o !!

FriendofDorothy · 12/12/2012 21:32

I am on my second week of mat leave and thoroughly enjoying myself.

Last week I had loads of things to do but this week is much more chilled so i am enjoying getting out walking on the beach and watching crap TV!

yuletopian99 · 12/12/2012 21:33

Oooh I'd kill for a glass of red wine... I know you can have one every now and then, but figured I might as well give up altogether (give my poor liver a break!) and enjoy it after the event.

Haven't been bored yet as have been busy with property stuff we do on the side so no true leave ever as I find it impossible to switch off, but i know I'd be going loopy too if I did. Will probably end up with a load more to coordinate from mid Jan so hoping the crumb will be happy coming to chat to builders with me!

ellliebelle · 12/12/2012 21:54

yule thanks for reasurance that you have had similar sort of pains mine have subsided now i have moved :)

I havr haf a couple of alcoholic drinks through pregnancy and would kill for one now but kind of think its prob nit a great idea if i went into labour :)
