Shagged Out Viroids 6th Thread! From Early Days to Ready To Pop - Proof that JSing really does work!

Hello and welcome to another shiny fred for Just Shagging graduates!

The last fred was nice and busy so fingers crossed we get lots more members Grin

We've just moved over from the Shagged Out Viroids Volume 5 thread, where we finally found out that a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!
The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

Our stats thread is here, so if you find us, please add your stats too.

There is also a Just Mumming thread for grads of the grads thread Confused Grin

And if you want to find out what Just Shagging is about or catch up with the undergrads go say hello to the Just Shaggers here, now on the 12th thread Thanks

All fine at the midwife this morning. Head is 3/5 engaged so going in the right direction.

StuckOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 02/01/2013 12:46

hello kitten and belle - good to see new arrivals

am starting to get excited for you tiredteddy - haven't seen one of you lovely ladies have a birth yet since joining the thread so its an exciting reminder of what's to come!

I'm back at the midwife's tomorrow for a regular check. I'm hoping she can reassure me all is ok in this strange in between period when I'm no longer feeling rubbish but not yet feeling any movements or kicks.

Although I did have another clear sign that I hope means everything is progressing well because my belly button is getting bigger and I have broken out in some lovely blotches on my face!

somethingwittynot · 02/01/2013 12:57

Am only 32 weeks kitten so hoping to not go to much further! Though 4-5cm before actual labour would be lovely!

My skin is horrendous and seems to be getting worse each day!

Dysgu · 02/01/2013 16:25

Gosh something I am now sat here wondering how you check your cervix? Not sure if I really want to know or whether knowing is better/worse than imagining.

Spent 90 minutes at the hospital clinic this morning. Both studies are still at the trial stage so the next stage is hormones/placebo and it is a double blind so no one but the computer actually knows whether I will be getting the hormones or not.

I have to go back tomorrow though as the consultant was not in today and he needs to be the one to set me up on the next stage. The holiday season has messed up the days as the testing is usually done on Tuesdays when he is working on the island. He will be back tomorrow though so there goes another 90 minutes. (At least I had lots of time left on my parking ticket so did a good deed by passing it on to the people who parked in my space when I left - I know that is not officially allowed but there was still 2.5 hours on my ticket.)

Good news though was the initial hormone test results that they get back almost straightaway showed no fibronectin being secreted which means no increased likelihood of this baby coming early - although as they said, there was never any sing of the others coming early, until they did!

WingDefence · 02/01/2013 16:28

Ooh welcome kitten! Pease do lurk and even post if you feel up to it! And I'm still checking my pants, even though I'm nearly 27 weeks Grin

something glad your cervix is holding out!

gary and dysgu hello! dysgu I said upthread that I forget I'm pregnant most of the time sticking my head in the sand? and haven't done anything to prepare as yet. I had a dream the other night that I started having early contractions and realised I hadn't sorted out any newborn clothes so got DH up into the loft ASAP to get them all down otherwise the baby wouldn't have had any clothes at the hospital!

stuck good luck at the MW tomorrow. I booked my 28wk appt and whooping cough jab today for the 17th Jan. I must really look into antenatal classes soon before they get booked up - in London there were no NHS classes so I went for NCT but up here there is more NHS provision so I'm going to try to get on the local course. I think it's for first time parents, but the ones for 2nd time parents is at the hospital and I cannot be bothered to drive approx 30 mins each time and pay for parking when I can go locally 10 mins away with free parking.

Has anyone done aqua natal classes before? I may look into that too if its not too late.

I have a feeling the next 12 weeks is going to go bloomin fast - tired do you think your past few days will draaaaag or rush past?

WingDefence · 02/01/2013 16:35

I've just updated the stats thread with my 28wk appt and I've noticed a few of us on there's who haven't been around for ages :( but I can't remember who didn't have sticky ones and who have just become lurkers.

Do you lot have better memories? I don't want to PM anyone and say 'hi, where have you been' if they MC'd...

Hi wing think the next two weeks are going to fly by. I'm starting to feel a bit nervous in all honesty, about the birth, managing visitors and the new mega-juggling of three children! About others, mandasand is still around on the FB secret group and doing ok with her twins she just doesn't seem to mumsnet so much at the moment. Will looks at the stats thread and see who else I recognise. Also we should invite new grads over to the FB group too. Soon I'll be posting pics of mini tired BlushSmile

MrsBri · 02/01/2013 16:45

Wing, I'm hoping to start aqua natal classes next week if my maternity swimsuit arrives in time. My new, ever expanding, breasts aren't going to be secured by my old bikini! :-)

Might as well have a go as they're free!

WingDefence · 02/01/2013 16:54

Thanks tired, yes I forgot about those on the FB group!

MrsBri I'd forgotten about getting a maternity swimming cossie! Blush

StuckOnARollercoaster · 02/01/2013 17:04

Mrs Bri - free aquanatal? is that because you already have some kind of membership or is it something offered by local council/hospital?
Might look into that myself. I think I need to start doing something just to help keep the limbs moving gently and might start to meet some new faces in the local area.
(At the moment don't know anyone other than immediate neighbours and DP's family - none of whom are pregnant or likely to get pregnant because they're all over 60!)

Well first day back at work is over and hasn't been too bad... I think tomorrow will be harder though! Must bring in left over christmas chocolate to keep me going!!!

MrsBri · 02/01/2013 17:09

Stuck, it must be a council / NHS initiative. My midwife told me about it at booking in, so I thought I'd give it a go as it'll be good to get some exercise. :-)

Wing...maybe go shopping before you book your first class?!

Dysgu · 02/01/2013 19:15

I rather fancy doing aqua natal but they only run classes in the day time here which doesn't work for me as I work full-time. I do wonder about asking the MW to 'insist' that I do them when I see her on Monday; I am expecting her to confirm that I do have SPD as I have constant lower back pain and hip pain and watching/listening to me try to turn over in bed has become something of a family activity (although DP and DD1 are very good at repositioning my support cushion between my legs) and is a real nuisance as I seem to have to turn every couple of hours all night once things get too painful.

I am going to ask about ante-natal classes too as we have never completed a full set and I imagine there are things we have forgotten over the past 4 years.

Also, can anyone tell me what is the 'use by date' on first car seats. I know the plastic decreases in safety or something but I can't find any actual ages. We used the same Stage 0+ seat for both DDs but I am wondering if we need to get a new one for DC3.

WingDefence · 02/01/2013 19:28

Dysgu - mine run in the daytime and I work full time too but legally they have to give you time off for appointments and things like aqua natal (I think, will double check...).

I keep waking too when I need to turn in bed but I don't have pain with it (unless I've been lying on the same side for too long). I can't imagine how rubbish that is :(

And I have no idea about car seats! Worth starting a thread about it on MN?

Stuck, yes unfort I think it is a 'postcode lottery' (I hate that term) with NHS provision. Tomorrow's chore for me will be to ring up and get myself booked onto things.

OP posts:
WingDefence · 02/01/2013 19:32

Here you go Dysgu, you have the right to take all antenatal appts off. Although the aqua natal classes haven't been prescribed to me as such by the MW, as it is on the list of classes the MW says I should consider, that's good enough fore. You should just be able to say they are antenatal classes without saying it is in the water, if you think they may be funny about it? And with your SPD I'd say aqua natal would be really helpful.

OP posts:
MrsBri · 02/01/2013 19:33

If your midwife says you should take the class your work have to give you the time off.

Ours are on Weds evenings, thankfully, so I don't have that battle. Already got a battle on my hands about my working hours being increased if I start the training contract on 14th, which is taking up loads of energy. :-/

That does sound painful, Dysgu :-( Maybe aqua natal would really help you.

tiredteddy · 02/01/2013 19:38

Hi dysgu I think that the "use by" date as such for car seats is 7 years due to plastic deteriorating over time. I will get in touch with my Dsis and check it out as she works in the industry. Hth.

Dysgu · 02/01/2013 20:19

wing I did have an idea that work would have to let me have time off for classes - will mention it to the MW on Monday and see what she thinks. I will also have a check to see if any of the other pools run classes as work will be fine about me having time off but I will need to provide work to be dome by my classes when I am not there so it would be nice to find a time that works for me too! I already have lots of extra time off due to screening appointments and the GTT in a couple of weeks means another whole morning off work!

We are due OFSTED though so things are very stressful - but on the other hand, my Head is always checking in and being very diligent (she has no children herself but reminds me daily that she is obliged to make things work for me as she has 'a duty of care! Would be nice that she asked how I was/did things because she cared but it is not so bad that she does them because she HAS to!)

tiredteddy thank you. It would be really good if you would check. Our car seat was the one we used with DD1 so that would be 6.4 years ago. I can find stuff on American sites which vary from 6, 7 and 10 years from the manufacturers date on the bottom. It would be nice if we could use it again - it is great and has the base so the seat just clicks in and out but if we do have to get another one then there are so many deals on right now where you get the seat free with the pram so it might be worth us looking whilst these sales are on.

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 02/01/2013 21:59

Hi all. Welcome kitten congrats on the BFP. Occasionally all the time I do knocked checks because sometimes it seems I have so much discharge I wonder if it's blood Blush (sorry tmi I know).

Good to hear from you Dysgu - glad all is going well so far. We must be pretty close on dates as I am due end of April too. We also got rid of all the stuff as thought we were stopping at 2. so I have made lists of everything I think we need. I seem to have forgotten the basics though and genuinely couldn't remember how many vests/supervisors etc I need. A friend at church messaged me to ask if I want any baby clothes so I have a lovely big bag of stuff arriving on Sunday...happy me Smile , I love getting second hand baby clothes (I'm weird I know).

Hope everything's ok Something and baby manages to stay put for a while longer. My friend is currently in hospital at 37 weeks because she has been contracting and is 1cm. She's booked in for a c/s on the 14th Jan though. The drs have said she has to stay in until the contractions stop as they won't do her section until she's in established labour. With 3 DCs and a slightly useless DH at home she's not a happy bunny!

Speaking of hospitals, I have visited the Maternity Assessment Centre tonight. Been getting some horrible abdominal pain which was awful this evening. Luckily nothing to worry about baby wise - likely just a scar adhesion from my abdominals surgery stretching and causing pain.

I did aqua natal with DC1 and thought it was fab. Unfortunately the classes are all on during the day here so can't go this time. I know I could insist with work but as I am behind with PhD work it feels a bit cheeky. Will just have to make do with my pregnancy yoga DVD.

I did take the kids swimming the other day though and it did feel nice being in the water. Unfortunately I grabbed by standard swimming costume and when I put it on in the changing room realised it was FAR too small for me - my breasts actually were popping out. the lifeguard kept staring Blush If it had just been me I would have cut my losses and left but the kids were changed and excited so I stayed. I have since found a maternity tankini!

ChildOfThe1980s · 03/01/2013 10:46

Hi all and happy new year. Welcome to newbies.

I have been struggling to find a nice-looking yet affordable (less than £30) tankini. Even Amazon seems to charge about £60 generally. Not on. I need to find one soon as my boobs will explode from any current swimsuits.

I would love to do aqua natal classes, but am guessing they are very expensive. Will have to research.

What are pregnancy yoga DVDs like? Are they new-agey?

StuckOnARollercoaster · 03/01/2013 11:13

Yay - midwife appointment today and she handed me a sheet of paper about various ante-natal clasess and we do have Aquanatal! There's no mention of cost so I wonder if its free but even if not - I think I will check it out. Will see how bad my swimsuit looks with my tummy (or even if I can get it on) but I suspect I may be shopping so I avoid guineapigs breast spillage scenario!

Am very happy because my midwife said lets see if we can find a heartbeat and got out what I'm assuming was a doppler. Like the scan the little one would not keep still - but we did get a fraction of a second of his/hers heartbeat. Held it together in front of the midwife but was in a flood of emotional tears when telling my boyfriend about it afterwards.

Child - I was shopping for some maternity trousers yesterday and looking at the sale ranges of various shops and I remember quite a few of them had swimsuits - I wasn't paying much attention to the styles and if they were tankini's but it may be worth checking out the sale pages. I will probably take a look later (am assuming my swimsuit won't fit - or at least that its a good excuse for some more shopping!) and will post if I see anything...

StuckOnARollercoaster · 03/01/2013 13:15

Child - I am having a productive lunch break. Here are some tankinis under £30
jojo £26 i love the red polka dot and navy stripe ones - am seriously tempted to get one of them myself

somethingwittynot · 03/01/2013 17:03

My body feels like it wants to go into labour im on day three of bad period type feeling in my back and ocassional tightenings through hips and bottom of bump the tightenings increase if im on my feet. God knows what my bodys playing at?!

tiredteddy · 03/01/2013 17:04

Aquanatel classes sound great. Think I've missed the boat on those. I managed to get the boys to the park today to give them some fresh air, been shattered ever since. My legs ache. The boys are sweet though as they've put a blanket and a soft toy rabbit in the new pram waiting for their baby.

WingDefence · 03/01/2013 17:56

I've been schlepping around the Trafford Centre (finally!) today with DH and DPs. It was fab but I really did flag after lunch (McDonalds Blush) and ooh I ache now.

Bargains included 75% off everything in Clintons as they are moving stores so I stocked up on 4th, 5th and 6th birthday cards for the next couple of years, plus a lovely Melissa & Doug nativity set for just £2.50!

Also got two cake tins to do DS's cake tomorrow in the Kenwood. Gulp, I'm nervous!
