No snow here but lots of rain. Sang "I'm singing in the rain" with DS on the way home tonight, which was lovely.

It made up for me not wearing a proper winter coat at the time, as there are none of my own I can do up any more! DP has gave me his a while back, but I've not been wearing it. It's not nearly as pretty as my lovely coat, but at least I can do it up! Any nod to fashion stops tomorrow I think!

aufaniae · 06/12/2012 23:07

mama I'm thinking of you also. Hope you're OK.

usernamegoeshere · 06/12/2012 23:28

I keep checking back in case of update from mama too, hope everythings ok & just having an internet break!

Cheers for the info on cookiemonster, I couldn't find anything on Ebay that looked right either but I will pop into H&M tomorrow, thanks!

Missmuffet28 · 07/12/2012 00:02

I also hope mama is ok!

It's not primarily Cookie Monster I know but I picked up the sleep suit versions of
www.mothercare.com/Unisex-Sesame-Street-short-sleeve-bodysuits---2-pack/LW5768,default,pd.html?singlehit=true

I can't find them on the website anymore but they had loads in store in the sale :)

No snow here in Somerset but temp must have risen slightly tonight as its chucking it down with rain at the mo!

I tried watching one born-what happened next, or whatever it was called on the tv but I couldn't I just turned into an emotional wreck hehe!! These hormones are funny old things eh cos usually I'm quite a tough cookie!
I'm laying awake cos of my wriggling bean as usual and dp is laying downstairs on the sofa cos he has a bad trapped wind feeling bless him! He also told me he's off to holland for a few days a week Monday, for work but none the less made me also sad! Im not usually that incredibly needy i swear! I'm blaming the hormones again :(

Missmuffet28 · 07/12/2012 00:04

My link hasn't worked but iv no idea how to make it work either hehe so copy and paste job I'm afraid Grin

EmpressMatilda · 07/12/2012 00:16

mama Hope all is well.

flaming Ah yes, the efficient Scandinavians! I have a bit of a thing for that part of the world. Am definitely an admirer.

Thanks for your kind wishes. I think I am on the mend. Hopefully. It's just the wretched toothache. Apparently raw garlic onto the gums gives relief so I tried that. It works well for 10 wonderful minutes and then the pain comes back. Ah well. I'm sure childbirth will hurt a LOT more so might as well treat it as training!

And apparently our kitchen reeks of Olbas oil and garlic. I can't smell it at all as I'm so bunged up but DH's face said it all!!!

ILoveNoodles · 07/12/2012 05:27

empress I'm sure clove is good for toothache obviously you'd have to check if its okay whilst pregnant though.

birdbrain17 · 07/12/2012 10:59

Thanks for all the info on snow grips, are they good also if it's just a bit icy outside? My boots are 2 years old (and weren't great to start with) so when I say there's no grip left on the bottom I mean you can't even see there was any!!!!

two weeks today till I break up for holidays! It's so needed I was in tears last night about absolutely nothing, DH came in and asked what's for supper and I just burst out crying missmuffet I agree these hormones are a pain Wink

mama Any news? Your disappearance worries us. Though totally get it might not be convenient for you to check out MN at the mo!

crazy Hope your gum pain is over soon too. I still have toothache but it's not as bad as it was. Birthday is Weds next week so I have a decent chance of recovering in time! Don't usually do much for it but this year DH and I have both booked the day off to go on a day trip somewhere using our NT cards. A nice opportunity to do something together mid-week. Would be gutting if I was too ill!

IloveNodles Thanks for that tip. Internet is contradictory on whether clove is OK in pregnancy (surprise surprise...) but I think consensus is that it is. Am going to make myself just work through the pain for now but if it hasn't improved by late afternoon that's the next remedy on my list to try!

Today I am 23 weeks. Hooray! Time does move forward after all Xmas Grin

ILoveNoodles · 07/12/2012 14:23

Hope you get better son empress I have never had toothache but my mum has and she had to go to the dentist even though she is petrified.

ILoveNoodles · 07/12/2012 14:24

*soon

Cocochops · 07/12/2012 15:11

Hello can I join?

I am expecting my second on 14th April. I see there is a gender tally going on here so file me under surprise!

Just finished my Xmas shopping (bar one pressie) so relieved as it was starting to stress me out!

Haven't bought anything for the baby yet as we have all the stuff from dd1 Will probably buy a few new baby grows nearer the time.

For those expecting their second has anyone investigated double buggies. I really don't want to get one although tbh I think it may be inevitable as there will only be 2 years difference but I think I am going to try with a sling and single buggy and see how I get on. I reckon I'll last a week!

usernamegoeshere · 07/12/2012 16:16

welcome coco

I had my physio today, apparently I have the start of SPD, but she says its caught early enough that exercises will stop it completely. But the bad pain am in has been caused by a pulled muscle in my upper thigh, apparently the early SPD weaknesses in my pelvis caused one side of me to overcompensate for the other & pulled the muscle!

So am pretty pleased, since a pulled muscle is temporary pain + the SPD has been caught early enough to prevent from getting worse!

edinfirst · 07/12/2012 16:35

Oh username that's great news. I have physio appointment next Fri with suspected SPD so I am cheered up to hear that catching it early can help and doesn't mean it'll just get worse.

Welcome coco, very envious that you've finished your Crimbo shopping!

Like everyone, I'm thinking of mama and have everything crossed we hear from her soon.

Hope everyone is staying safe and warm. Have a lovely weekend (I am going to push the boat out and have a wee glass of red wine, my first since finding out, and I can't wait!)

OComeAllYeFaithBaby · 07/12/2012 17:17

Evening all! Welcome coco, congratulations on your surprise! I've got all my Christmas shopping done wrapped and under the tree! Xmas Grin That's only because I learnt from experience last year (bought and wrapped presents, then the house caught fire Shock but because they were wrapped all I had to do was re-wrap them. So much better this year!)

user great to hear your SPD will settle, that must be such a relief!

Thanks for the well wishes with regards to those of us who are ill. I'm on the mend. I ventured out the house tonight (woo!) just to the local shops and without makeup but I do think I'm on the mend. This was always going to be a quiet weekend because there's a huge Christmas market in the city centre and the place is always packed so we tend to stay in!

Popping past mainly hoping too see mama really hoping she is ok.

Coco welcome and congrats. We will have an almost identical age gap, DD will be 2 yrs on 23.04.2013 & I am due the 05/04/2012. Like you I was hoping to do sling and buggy. Helps that in theory both my DD and the newborn could go in the buggy so could swap them around will out. I also do have a stroller do thinking for big family outings DH & I could always push one each?

I have awful heartburn, now appreciate why some people think they are having a heart attack with indigestion. Today I have eaten/drunk: 3 filter strong coffees, one apple, one satsuma, one glass OJ and a can of tomato sauce. Clearly this has nothing to do with my heartburn does it ladies? Xmas Grin

toobreathless · 07/12/2012 19:07

Oh yes and empress we are due date buddies!

Missmuffet28 · 07/12/2012 19:17

Empress I meant to say I get tooth ache every time I get a cold now I made them X-ray me a few times it hurt so much and they still couldn't see anything! Sometimes it felt like I had something stuck between 2 teeth as well its very strange! So I know how you feel and hope its better soon x

I really do hope mama is ok!!!!

Welcome coco

I'll have a 2.5yr age gap, and I'm really unsure whether I'll need a double or not. I've had a look and decided which I'd like, but I'm going to hold off buying one until as close to April as possible and see how DS is with walking nicely at that stage. I'm a bit of a pram addict though, so really want a new one even though I doubt it'll be necessary for longer than 6 months. I think I'll probably end up going with a sling/pram/buggy board combination in the end.

While I was reading ds his bedtime story last night the baby was kicking like mad, so I put his hand on my tummy so he could feel. The look of Shock on his face when she gave his hand a good boot was priceless. Then he patted my tummy and said night night to the baby. Smile

Evening ladies, going to catch up now. Had another set back, just went to toilet and had a load of brown discharge, why oh why, had it about 6 weeks ago. Have had scan on Weds this week and all fine, have been thinking not feeling him move much at all this week compared to a few weeks ago. Anyone else had any discharge? Sorry to ask but no one I can ask in RL.

SilentMammoth · 07/12/2012 21:51

Hi coco, I've used a phil and ted which I can recommend as a type of double.

I'm due dc5 so only need to buy nappies, though am still working my way through tub of folic acid so as to avoid"well, may as well get pregnant and use that up" mindset again!

Do hope mama is ok.

edinfirst · 07/12/2012 22:41

Essex didn't want to read and run. Did you mention the discharge to MW last time? As you had your scan and all was fine a couple of days ago I'm sure it will be fine, but just to out your mind at rest might be best to give them a ring? I hope someone else has more knowledge or experience of this than me and can be more help.

EssexWelsh · 07/12/2012 23:07

Thanks Edin, nothing more since this evening, just had a shocked, got in from work, went to the loo and knickers covered, but was brown so that's good (not bright red) and baba was just really kicky, even DP felt him, so he's given me the best reassurance! Will keep an eye tomo.

usernamegoeshere · 07/12/2012 23:17

aw Essex, you probably just irritated your cervix with something (sex, lifting, running for the bus...?), probably best to let midwife know for reassurance though.

enjay0811 · 07/12/2012 23:25

Welcome coco my dd's are 2yrs 2mths apart and we managed with a single pushchair (bebe confort streety) and buggy board but dd1 was a quite strong walker.
