We had our BFPs in November.

Welcome aboard ladies.

Let's do this Journey together.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
OxfordToLondoner · 27/12/2012 22:55

foof when I had my 7 week scan, the doctor told me that the chance of miscarriage if a heartbeat is seen at this stage, and everything looks normal (e.g. size - mine was also 9mm which she said was fine) then the chances of miscarriage is less than 2%. Hope that reassures you!

Stopsittingonyoursister · 27/12/2012 23:45

Congrats Foof must be so reassuring!

bzzbee · 28/12/2012 09:54

Hi all
Hope everyone had a lovely Xmas and congrats to all the new BFPs and positive scan results.

I'd add my stats but I'm still too worried, will wait till after scan. Speaking of which I hoping a letter will have arrived with a scan date and booking date when we get back home. I am 8 weeks today (hurrah, each day is a milestone at the moment!) so I'd expect something before end of Jan. Anyone else based in London? I think it's quite busy (maternity wise) where I live so not surprised if it takes another while.

I've been feeling so rotten (nausea), but luckily my DP has insisted I have a lie in every morning (our dd wakes at about 6am so he has got up with her) which has been amazing. Eating and averting nausea has become a source of much tedium. And for a chocolate lover like me to be surrounded by all the Xmas chocs and not even able to stomach one is weird (but healthy I guess!).

I've started ordering half or children's size portions when we are out and even then I struggle to finish. It's weird, I feel ravenous sometimes but after a few bites I can't look at food anymore. I have no idea how my body is supposed to get enough nutrients!? Sorry for the long post on food/nausea but I am totally debilitated by it!

Xx

bzzbee, I live on milkshakes (nesquick for all the vitamins, full fat milk) & fruit/veggie smoothies as I can't stomach more than a handful of food.
If you're eating at home, make something you can heat up again & again (like bakes beans & cheese in jacket spuds) or live off (healthy!) snacks.
I'm in Sarf London & it wasn't so busy last time, but since then they're looking into closing a nearby maternity unit so expecting it to be very busy.

Monthly, have you got any of the cheaper pee sticks lying about? I'd try testing on them a few days apart to see if your line gets darker.
The 1-2wks is based on the level of hcg in your body, so it could just be that you're having a slow rise about 4 posts down a woman lists the HCG levels for digital tests.
Comparing that to this table you're in the low side of normal still.
So if you don't have any other tests but the digital, I'd try another one in 2/3 days.

Nightwish · 28/12/2012 12:15

Had a midwife text me this morning to ask if she can see me this lunchtime to do paperwork and book in scan.
Got work shortly after so had to bring it forward from 2pm to 1.15.
Nothing like short notice!

PurpleDana · 28/12/2012 14:44

bzzbee I'm really debilitated by nausea/sickness too. I cannot face eating meals at all, even drinking water is a task. But I have read that your body and baby will live off your liver stores of nutrients quite happily for several weeks, so that's encouraging. My hubby went out and bought me travel bands this morning to try and help, have to say I am no better yet. Still feel sick, have no energy, and feel I could pass out at any moment constantly. Does anyone have any tricks they could share cos I'm back at work on 7th and honestly can't see how I could manage it feeling like this.

LittleMissSnowShine · 28/12/2012 15:14

bzzbee / purple - also crippled with sickness! Had hg and was in a v bad way indeed with ds, pretty pukey in last pg and bad again now too. For anyone really struggling to keep even water down see your gp asap, nausea and throwing up are crap but when you cant keep water down dehydration can be really bad for u and baby, i ended up on a drip because i got so bad with DS and i hadnt heard of hg. GP can give you tablets (cyclazine) which do help (a bit) so you still cant really eat meals but water and dry toast tend to stay down. Everyone else - tiredness makes sickness worse so try and get loads of rest. Im living on ginger ale with occasional bowls of cereal or pieces of toast when i can face it, motion sickness bands firmly in place!!!

Jollymummy2 · 28/12/2012 16:06

Can I join the "feel so sick and tired" group too?
I was sick with my other 3 pregnancies, but just feel really rough with this one Hmm trying to eat little and often but still feel permanently yucky.
Have been drinking pint after pint of OJ though which is very unlike me!
Can't believe im 7weeks today!

Soon the exciting time of scans and bumps will come to us, then we can complain about heartburn and piles! Grin
I love pregnancy!

FoofFighter · 28/12/2012 16:42

Purple if it's that bad the GP can sign you off work remember, really hope it subsides to a manageable level for you all soon.

Aside from the pregnacare/folic acid making me nauseous (it could be this contributing for you guys too if taking as your tummies will be empty) I feel really lucky to have escaped with the odd evening/afternoon session of feeling grotty.
I am however still suffering with raging insomnia! I haven't slept in my bed now for weeks as afraid of disturbing the OH, and it means I can do stuff like surfing or watching TV when wide awake. I just feel wired like I have had 4 cans of red bull!
I think he is getting pissed at me as he cannot understand why the sofa is better for me just now, means I can lie propped half sat up and not be woken by my boobs every ten mins for one, I think he is taking it personally Sad

Oh shit monthly, hope things go smoothly & quickly for you at the hospital. x

MrsPennyapple · 28/12/2012 19:02

Sorry to hear that Monthly hope you get on ok at the hospital.

Not much to tell here, except I had a rubbish night's sleep. I kept waking up dreaming about the same thing, something really mundane like repeatedly folding one of DD's sleepsuits.

Boobs still a bit tender, it's normally fine until I'm playing with DD (17mo) and she leans / stands on my boobs!

Chuckaluck · 28/12/2012 19:13

Monthly hope all goes ok.

I am still totally overthinking everything! Feel like every little twinge is something bad and got really excited today when I felt sick! I need to learn to chill out and enjoy it! Also had 2 friends announce pregnancies this week so that's exciting that our babies will all be similar ages!

Monthly, I hope it's just a false alarm Sad

GaryBuseysTeeth · 28/12/2012 20:11

Sad Oh Monthly, are you thinking a mc is best case scenario now?
Really hope it's a false alarm, but you know your body best.
Glad GP/hospital were so great, when I had my mc I saw GP on Friday & didn't get my scan referral call from EPU until the following Wednesday.

Does anyone have any plans for the weekend? We're having an early spring clean weekend. Joy.

LexiLoganberry · 28/12/2012 22:13

I hope you're ok monthly,

foof great news about your scan

Gary Sorry your feeling the same as me. I spoke to a midwife today about it and she said what I'd expected her to say, that what will happen will happen at this stage, said I could only treat the symptoms of the cramps with paracetamol, hot water bottle, not over do it and a little light exercise. Also said that cramps don't always result in mc. When I had my dd I just assumed everything was going to be ok and wasn't at all worried about anything, this time I don't think I'll be able to relax until I get to my scan, which is ages away I'm only 5+4. I do have some other symptoms going on, frequent urination, very sore boobs, not feeling as fatigued as before. Do you have other symptoms?

Chuckaluck · 29/12/2012 07:59

monthly so sorry that you haveto go through that. Hope it is a false alarm but thoughts are with u. Thanks

Anyone else not sleeping? I have been awake since 5am and up twice in the night for the loo!!

OxfordToLondoner · 29/12/2012 09:26

monthly I'm so so sorry. Shedding a few tears for you and wishing you lots of luck for the future.

Mrsd77 · 29/12/2012 09:30

monthly I'm very sorry. Good to hear the hospital are treating you respectfully.

LoveBeingAMrs · 29/12/2012 09:33

Checking back in! Sorry to see your all feeling grotty... I seem to have the opposite problem to you all, i dont have any morning sickness (yet) and just wanna eat everyhing, especially pate and funny cheeses im not allowed! Im exhausted though, no energy at all and sleepig easily for 12 hours (on my days off)!

monthly so sorry about your news! Fingers crosed its a false alarm and everythig is ok!!

I've got my first midwife appt on 10th jan, ive been told its a lot of paperwork but what else do they do? Can they check babys heartbeat? (ill be 8+6 by then) and who refers you for the scan?! X x

OxfordToLondoner · 29/12/2012 09:46

I've just noticed on Facebook that friends who are coming to stay tomorrow have been suffering with the Novo Virus. Do you think it's reasonable if me to expect DH to call them (they're more his friends) and put them off coming (they don't know I'm pregnant but I don't mind them knowing).

chocolatesolveseverything · 29/12/2012 10:47

Monthly. Thinking of you.

Oxford, before saying they couldn't come, I'd probably check how long they've been symptom-free. If it's over 48 hours it would be fine I think. You could have a chat with them about it beforehand and explain your worries, and I can't imagine why anyone would think that was unreasonable.

Love, ooh my booking appointment is on the same day. Can't help with your questions though I'm afraid. Scan-booking, etc seems to vary so much from area to area. Mine has already been booked in for 23rd Jan.

I'm over 9 weeks now (hooray) and either I'm getting better at dealing with the nausea, or it's gone past its peak because the last week hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. No problems cooking or eating the Christmas dinner and I've managed two 5-hr car journeys without too much discomfort.

And quite chuffed this morning that my boobs are finally starting to get noticeably bigger Xmas Grin

LittleMissSnowShine · 29/12/2012 11:09

monthly - oh no, sorry to hear you're going through this. Still keeping fx for you and sending you lots of good wishes xx

lexi - hope its just implantation cramping

gary - no weekend plans, laid up with this flipping nausea!! Mum coming round to provide reinforcements this afternoon with DS and DH faithfully promising to giv our place a bit of a spring clean tomorrow!

Next scan for me is on Wed, still spotting on and off but also v sick eith sore boobs so trying to stay positive
