Shiny new thread. Come and grab a Brew and a Biscuit.

FlaminNoraImPregnantPanda · 30/11/2012 16:51

Antacids have become a new food group for me. I've been through 2 massive boxes of Rennie, 1 huge box of Asda's own and am now half way through a tub of Tums.

berri · 30/11/2012 16:51

Zorra how scary, I'm glad you're ok. Hope your bruises go down soon, take care of yourself.

jenpenod · 30/11/2012 16:59

I'm another antacid fiend. For those of you who've been pregnant before - does the acid reflux last the whole 9 months? I'm scared it might!

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 30/11/2012 17:05

Mine went away in the 2nd tri jen but came back in the 3rd. (Sorry)

GeordieCherry · 30/11/2012 17:06

Eek Zorra you poor thing! But hospital said all ok?
Heartburn is my new best enemy. Chocolate milk seems to be working but not very good for ya Confused
Bump looks nice in some clothes. Just look like I've eaten too many pies in other things...

jenpenod · 30/11/2012 17:08

Thanks frustrated...feel so naive, always thought pregnancy looked like a walk in the park but it's actually quite hard!

wilderumpus · 30/11/2012 17:46

geordie I have the same issue! In overbump trousers and a fitted maternity top I look like I have a lovely neat little bump. Underbump/normal trousers and a jumper tho and I just look tubby!

My heartburn issues never went once they started with DS jen and seem to have started earlier and just got worse with this one. everyone is different tho :)

flamin rennie do nothing for me! Is gaviscon all the way at the mo and if (when?!) it gets worse in the 3rd tri I shall go to the drs for the hard stuff. I love the tablets but they stick in my teeth!

LittleSpade · 30/11/2012 17:54

Panda that cheese restaurant sounds like my kind of heaven! Would you mind me asking in roughly what part of the country it is? although maybe i shouldn't cos if it's nearby you might need to restain me

Wilde I'm with you on the burps although onions and garlic seem to be my biggest trigger foods and they're in everything!

So glad it's the weekend!

Wirrawoo · 30/11/2012 18:18

wilde totally with you there... Am a burping machine at the mo! Have never been able to burp impressively before so seem to be making up for lost time Shock
Am mainlining gaviscon too. Mostly at night or if stressed but its the only thing that helps. That and milk.

lolly big yay to smoked salmon! Bring on the blinis!!

tasmaniandevilchaser · 30/11/2012 18:26

thanks seven, hope your DS is better soon too. DD is 3, nearly 4. She seems to be a bit better today thankfully. We have made her a wand. Being at home both of us ill all week has been......erm.....interesting. Thanks flipping God for the ipad.

maybe I know what you mean about wanting a scan sooner. I think they do have a good look at anomalies if you go private, but I was only looking at the Fetal Medicine Centre in London, so not sure if the babybond places do.

scooby Sad for the lady with Strep B. I am galvanised into testing at 37 weeks now. Where do I go? Does anyone know?

littlespade I know what you mean about people noticing before you're ready to announce. When I go back on Monday, I'm going to have to tell people, which is a bit nervewracking after a MMC and an EP this year. They mostly all know about them so sure they'll be delighted but it's still a big deal to me.

beaut I see a green face and a glass of wine (not on Iphone)

zorra you poor thing! Hope you're recovering ok. I think it's natural to worry about the little one, but they are well cushioned in there, nature has designed it that way.

flaminnora Grin at the thought of Greenpeace rushing in to save you!!!

wilde sorry you're poorly, have a nice honey and lemon. I've had a load of them, try adding fresh ginger as well, very warming.

jen sorry to be another one to tell you, it just gets worse as the baby presses up, soz! Gaviscon Advance was my friend in the last pg. 100 times better than ordinary gaviscon (which did NOTHING)

I'm back at work on Monday (gulp!), but have arranged to work half days til Xmas (phew!). The most I've done in the last month is walk to the local shops, I seriously cannot imagine being on the go from 7.30am til 6pm.

The bump is getting larger, I can feel it growing and pressing and stretching. Just want to get the anomaly scan over and done with, have to wait until the 18th Dec. If anything is wrong, we are plunged into Christmas shift staffing issues, so praying that it's all boring and fine.

FlaminNoraImPregnantPanda · 30/11/2012 20:07

Sorry LittleSpade, I know I shouldn't mention yummy food to pregnant ladies. Unfortunately for you I'm in Sweden, so you'd have to come a long way for your cheese buffet. But if you are ever in the vicinity, it's this place:

www.falbygdensost.se/hem/

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 30/11/2012 20:14

Wow panda 150 different cheeses! And they give co-ordinates to get there!

Wirrawoo · 30/11/2012 20:27

zorra sorry meant to say before, really hope you're feeling better after that scare. Thanks must have been so scary, but if the hospital has checked you out and given all-clear then that's great. They are well cushioned in there those little bubs. Big hugs to you xx

wilde lemon and honey works wonders. Hope you feel better Brew

GeordieCherry · 30/11/2012 21:13

Wilde I've ordered a pair of maternity trousers from Vertbaudet, see how they go on. Definitely more 'bump' than 'pies' with leggings on I think. Although it's so flippin cold I've been sticking with the jeggings. Just folding the waistband down as my arse & legs don't need another size up yet Smile

I'll ask the MW on Thursday but will I get called for whooping cough vaccination..?

MyFriendGoo · 30/11/2012 21:41

lurking May lady materialises

There IS a cheese restaurant in the UK! www.thecheesesociety.co.uk/

lurking May lady disappears back into the mist

Kittykatmacbill · 30/11/2012 23:13

wilde you can't have any throat medicine w active ingredients like strepcils (err that doesn't look right but to late to think...) as the were by closing capillary and reducing the blood flow, not good for baby [bsad]. I went through this in boots, all I could get was fishermans friends, then had To sit through a almost 4 hour meeting feeling really queasy, with a sore throat and only thimble size glasses of water....

flamin tell me about, I feel like a total hippo no elegant bump for me I fear! [bwink]

Re blue cheese and smoked salmon, are you sure? I am sure both my books say no to both...

Very jealous of all your movements stories, had nothing yet!

16+5

FlaminNoraImPregnantPanda · 30/11/2012 23:37

While that looks very nice MyFriendGoo, it is lacking 1 essential ingredient: an all you can scoff cheese buffet. :o

MyFriendGoo · 01/12/2012 06:00

kitty have definitely read on NHS site that Stilton is ok...

flaminnora I hadn't read far back enough to appreciate the true deliciousness of this Swedish phenomenon....dang!

Off to have baked brie at the Christmas party today....baked is ok I think???

Yours, Goo (who was more or less vegan until the cravings kicked in and is now a woman obsessed)

Zorra · 01/12/2012 06:15

Thanks for the nice thoughts! Bruising is going down and Dr said all is fine, but it ha exacerbated all the headaches, aches and paranoia I had already!

YY to heartburn, bleurgh. Hope you ladies have a nice weekend!

lollypopsicle · 01/12/2012 07:06

Happy December ladies!

zorra make sure you give yourself time to mentally get over your car crash. Talk to dr or mw of you need to as I imagine pregnancy magnifies the trauma of it all as well. Look after yourself.

Kitty, brownies honour, the nhs says stilton and dmoked salmon are safe... Here's more nhs links tgat state Stilton is ok because all hard cheese is ok (nhs specifically says Stilton as an example). Also that smoked salmon is ok...although not all countries agree but if it's good enough for the nhs then it's good enough for me. Having said that I did avoid it at a wedding the other week when served as a canapé as I didn't know where it had come from or how long it had been 'out' for iyswim

Off to look at goo's uk cheese restaurant link now, yum is it weird to want cheese at 7 in the morning?

Ellypoo · 01/12/2012 09:44

Hi all! Loving being able to have stilton, it's feels like a massive treat!! Winter isn't the same without it.

Wondering of any of you could help/reassure me please.

I am having sharp stabbing type pains in the left side of my bump, quite low done, they aren't particularly regular, and depends what position I'm lying in, but a bit scary. Any ideas?

SevenElvesAndAReindeer · 01/12/2012 10:52

Elly could possibly just be ligaments stretching? I'd ring your MW or hospital if you're worried though to put your mind at rest.

zorra your car crash must have been scary, glad the hospital have given you the all clear.

goo why are you hiding? Come and join us! Any other lurkers here who want to our themselves?

I'm getting a big hooked on buying maternity clothes on eBay! This will be our third and last so I don't want to spend much. I won the £5.99 jeans, they even still have the tag on them. I also won two mamas and papas cardigans, just over £8 each. One is lambs wool, it's here already and it's so soft, it must have been at least £40 new. I've outgrown my old jeans, but discovered that maternity clothes make me look huge, I'm very glad I don't have to hide it.

I'm very jealous of those having scans before Christmas/new year, mine isn't until the 23rd January. I'm not sure I like being right at the back of the thread!

I can't believe we can have Stilton, I'm off to check out that link. And thanks to goo for mentioning baked Brie, I was gutted about the removal of Brie from the Christmas cheese board, I might have to do a baked Camembert on Christmas Eve once the DCs are in bed!

SevenElvesAndAReindeer · 01/12/2012 10:57

Yay, Stilton is definitely on the menu, hooray! I prefer Danish Blue though, which isn't safe during pregnancy.

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 01/12/2012 11:18

That's late seven mines on the 10th and we have the same dates. Confused

Mmm Stilton.

tasmaniandevilchaser · 01/12/2012 11:21

hi all

zorra hope you're taking it nice and easy, I think it's only natural for something scary to magnify general worries about the baby, I got very very stressed after the pneumonia, antibiotics and chest X rays (not the same at all I know as a car crash but I have a general file of "horrible and scary" and I've put them both in there) but it has got better as I can see the bump growing. Just be kind to yourself. Flowers

elly sounds like ligament stretching to me, hope you're ok

seven I'm constantly on Ebay as well! Just got the jeans and a top and bidding on a dress. I need knitwear too! Must have a look.

Re cheese, can I recommend gruyere? There's a Swiss fondue restaurant in London. Mmmmmm. I'm having cravings, thank god it's on the NHS website as safe. I'm sure this has changed since having DD but I'm not arguing. Talking about recommendations changing, they have changed since I first looked at 5 weeks! It used to say you can eat rare meat as long as the outside is cooked properly, but it's changed now to say they're still looking into toxoplasmosis, so no rare meat at all for now.
