Hi ladies, just been for my 16 week scan at the hospital. More happy scan news from me as baby pear is doing well and growing as expected. The specialist had a good look at the heart, spine and brain and all looks good so far My next scan is on 2nd January so I'm going to try my best to sit back and relax until then.

Oh I wanted to say that baby is still very chilled out and doesn't like to move about much. Every time she gave it a prod it kept putting its hands and arms over its face as if to say go away! It was very sweet to watch and almost got my waterworks going!

Also I have a low lying placenta. Does anyone knows what that means? She said it might change.

Ahh pear how sweet!! Did you not find out what baby pear is?
A low lying placenta can mean it grows where your cervix is and if it doesnt move can mean you will have to have a c section as it can be covering the exit path, I think it's quite common to move though aswell x

I had a low placenta at 20 weeks last time but it had shifted out the way by 36 weeks. It's probably not a problem - they'd probably have told you if it was actually covering the cervix. I love the thought of the baby covering its face when poked! So cute!

DH covers his face all the time when he's is despair so it did make me smile! DR Google pretty much said the same thing as you ladies RE low lying placenta so I guess we will just wait and see. I'm really not that big though so I'm sure there is lots of growth coming my way to push it out the way. They can't be for sure on sex yet so she said its best to wait for the 20 week scan before making guesses. I thought that would happen! Luckily I only have a short wait!

Ohhh they are soo anoying, if it wasn't obvious at 16wks why can you pay to find out at 16?! Grrr they even had a go for me at 14 but that was a doctor not the usual ones, still like you said not long to wait and and the suspence and guessing is exciting! X

The low lying placenta moving was explained to me when I has DD. If you drew an x on a part filled balloon, then blew it up full the x would end up futher away from the opening bit. Obviously if it was too low it wouldn't move far but in most cases it moves away from the cervix enough not to cause problems.

NT scan today, and again one was a real wriggler, bopping about, the other moved if prodded but was much more chilled. The fold measurements were nice and low, and I gave blood, which means I'll get the results next week, but really pleased with today, so not too worried.

DH is being an argumentive arse. I had hoped he would have came back from the trip relaxed, but if anything he is more tightly coiled up than before.

Ooh, bummer on the partner front. Hope he gets it sorted! No matter how hard I try, DH's mood always gets to me and then I feel grouchy. It's not fun to be around them when that's the case.

I was going to do the same explanation as Blending on the low-lying placenta. The vast majority of them do grow out of the way and do not pose a risk at all. If you haven't had any spotting or bleeding so far in pregnancy, it's pretty minimal risk that sex would harm the placenta. Especially if they just called it low-lying instead of marginal previa.

Feeling the baby every so often...really ready to start feeling it more though! Also had this ridiculously painful episode with the abdominal muscles last night. Couldn't even breathe as it felt so painful! Have any of you 2nd, 3rd time mums had this yet?

Trumpets I'm quite jealous of your being able to feel the baby, I'm still not entirely convinced there's one in there, despite me having an increasaingly crumpled picture to look at... I'm fairly low-key on the symptons and def can't feel anything.

I'm taking Bean to a gig this weekend which I've been looking forward to for ages (Pulp...In Sheffield.... Yay!) but now i'm worried I'll be too tired, too cold and not able to dance. Bri You've been out gigging when PG haven't you? How did you find it?

I've been to a few gigs Libra and have found the energy. I worried I would be too tired but I had a good meal before I went and kept bottle of water in hand and was fine. Someone like Pulp will keep your energy levels up!

I couldn't go as mental at Muse as I would normally, Elbow are more chilled, so that was better. :-)

Pulp will be fine as it isn't a raucous gig from them!

I'm the same lib, 15 wks, no feeling at all and all symptoms have gone and no where neer as tired now, can stay up till 10ish which was usual for me before, my boobs are bigger and according to dh I'm more unreasonable whatever

16 weeks and no feeling here too :-/ Come on babies jump around!

Thanks for the reassurances guys, I've been looking forward to this for months. One of the weird things about TTC for so long was that at first whenever I booked something I'd be like 'Ooooh I wonder if I'll be pregnant then?' but by the time we'd booked the Pulp tickets I'd given up thinking like that.

I'm having some sort of weird delayed morning sickness so today Bean has mostly been fed apple crumble and Pombears. I'm going to be a dreadful mother.

When I told DH about the stationery meltdown he said he saw me crying at the camera ad the other week, which I thought only you lot knew about! So I then cried on him. Soft cow!

Pear, my DH wouldn't even pop over the road to the Chinese for noodles earlier! He mumbled some nonsense about how we had food & it was dinnertime soon & we were planning to have a takeaway tomorrow anyway. Clearly he doesn't understand that I won't fancy noodles tomorrow!

Am meeting boyfriend's parents for the first time next week. Which is also when we get to tell them I am pregnant...
... pretty certain they will not be my biggest fans.

Any tips on how to best broach the subject?

Maybe don't mention it & get him to call them afterwards & say, "So you liked her, right? Well that's good because she's going to be around for a long time!"

If they don't seem keen once you've told them then you could remind them that it takes 2 to tango & maybe they should've taught him to use multiple methods of contraception if they were that worried about it... Or just act like you're both thrilled & it's the best thing to ever happen! Tell them how amazing their son has been to you & how he's a credit to them - they can't hate you for that!

I'm not being very helpful am I? I'm awful at telling people things, even if it's good news! How did your GP appointment go? Have you got a scan date yet?
