Welcome aboard, for the trip that will take us into the 2nd trimester and beyond, Make yourself comfy as we head towards maternity clothes, new bras, blooming, bumps, scans, and fading ms. Full of chatting, moaning tmi and mutual support.

Apricots worked at the start of this roller coaster nightmare but I think my body quickly rejects things from working because hot cross buns used to save me but not this weekend :-( If anyone has any remedies for constipation that doesn't involve eating fibre (raisins, apricots, mangoes, orange juice etc) drinking more water, lactoluse or Fybogel please tell me your secret!

MrsBri · 25/11/2012 15:11

Apparently it is evil, but maybe you've now hit the desperate measure of prune juice?

peardrop2 · 25/11/2012 16:09

Yeah maybe I have Sad Time to go back to Holland & Barrat Shock

Librarina · 25/11/2012 18:08

I've not been about for a bit cos was feeling proper sorry for myself and was convinced that icky Thrush would jeopardise the baby, I guess I'll find out at the scan on Thursday (I'm another one who's convinced it's all going to be a terrible misunderstanding!)

Anyway, just wanted to suggest bran flakes or all bran to help with constipation. I think Bran Flakes taste slightly nicer but neither are what you'd call delicious!

peardrop2 · 25/11/2012 19:41

Thanks Lib I'll give that a go :-) Hope time doesn't drag too between now and Thursday for you! And I'm sure everything is just fine in there!

merrygiant · 25/11/2012 20:03

A cigarette always used to get my bowels moving perfectly in the morning Wink

bringonthetrumpets · 25/11/2012 20:28

Kale will get things moving very quickly (you can throw it in soups, smoothies, eat it sauted with garlic and onion and have an egg on top...possibilities are endless) plus it's a superfood for pregnancy! Either that or Chia seed pudding (you can find a recipe online), which I think actually tastes really good!

MrsBri · 26/11/2012 07:06

So, a meal of All Bran, with prune juice and a kale smoothie for Peardrop? See if that has the desired effect!

I'm not feeling too bad today, so far. Bit queasy, but not quite enough to be sick (though it wouldn't take much persuading!).

Finally having my scan 2 weeks tomorrow. Feels so far away, yet it is only 4 weeks after the private scan.

If I had a doppler I think I'd be obsessed! But I'm going to take the advice of my midwife friend and not buy one. I'm very obedient!

Jojoba1986 · 26/11/2012 09:54

Glad you're not feeling as bad today MrsB! It seems your ms has joined me for the day! I feel dreadful! So far I haven't actually been sick but I've come v close! Probably has something to do with my scan being in an hour! I don't remember feeling this nervous last time! Confused

peardrop2 · 26/11/2012 10:03

Wow lucky me what a meal to look forward to :-) All good suggestions though so I'll start to introduce them in my diet this week...can't wait!

Time is seriously dragging...probably for everyone too! It doesn't help that I realised this morning that I have to reach January 1st to get to the half way point. 20 weeks just seems so long away! I seriously hope Xmas festivities speeds things up!

peardrop2 · 26/11/2012 10:04

Good luck JoJo hope you have a lovely scan :-)

MrsBri · 26/11/2012 10:09

I wouldn't say I was feeling good, Jojo...came VERY close to throwing up on the train this morning. Still hovering close to vomit.

Hope your scan goes well. :-)

Not sure it'd be great to eat everything at once, Peardrop, don't want a, ummm, dramatic purge!!

Jojoba1986 · 26/11/2012 10:31

I might need to steal some of those suggestions! Who knew that eating 2 carrots a day would cause problems?! Nearly passed out on the toilet just now! Had to lie on the floor until I felt up to crawling back to bed! Not what I need this morning! Sad

kittenskittenskittens · 26/11/2012 10:56

Good luck today Jojo, sorry you feel like crap Sad x

Librarina · 26/11/2012 11:01

Hmmmm, the image of a 'dramatic purge' is going to stay with me all day! Smile

Is there a health food shop you can get to MrsBri? I wouldn't recommend them for actual sickness as I think I'd punch anyone who tried, but I've been eating some ginger sweets called 'Gin Gins' which have been very helpful for keeping nausea and quesiness at bay.

They might have something to help with the other end too. I seem to remember my Mum having senna pods and licorice root when I was a child.

Jojoba1986 · 26/11/2012 12:31

Everything's good! Just the one little wriggler! Still not convinced there isn't another one hiding behind #1! They had much more of a problem getting measurements than they did with DS! It's got to be a girl. Wink

12+6

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 26/11/2012 13:20

Yay jojo

So does that mean I'm having a boy since it was good and lying perfectly for measurements?

OP posts:
Jojoba1986 · 26/11/2012 13:24

Yes. That's exactly how it works! Grin

kittenskittenskittens · 26/11/2012 14:05

Have you compared your photo to the nub theory?have you heard about the nub theory lol I've spent far to long analysing obsessing!

Jojoba1986 · 26/11/2012 14:45

No nub visible. It's nowhere near as clear as the one we had with DS! Sad Couldn't see anything in DS's either - he had his leg in the way!

Jojoba1986 · 26/11/2012 15:05

I've uploaded the photo for anyone who's interested! (At least, I think I have!)

bringonthetrumpets · 26/11/2012 15:10

I don't think it's public Jo. There isn't a hyperlink under your name.

Holy smokes! 12 weeks today! Can't believe it.

Leaving for England in 23 days. That means I have: 3 classes to finish in 14 days, packing for 4 people, finishing my Christmas shopping to bring gifts over, two midwife appointments, 1 chiropractor appointment (my favorite!), and all of the piddly bills, tying up lose ends, and buying random things. Oy, I feel tired just looking at the list.

Jojoba1986 · 26/11/2012 15:23

Should be working now...!

Jojoba1986 · 26/11/2012 15:24

It's definitely a girl. She's got a hand bow on her head!

peardrop2 · 26/11/2012 15:31

Aww JoJo it's a baby :-) It looks big or is it because the picture is zoomed...it's not easy to tell! I take it you would like a girl then if you have DS already.
