Fantastic news blue and stunt, I am living vicariously through the FB baby pictures until I can post one of my own!

MM 56 pairs of jeans?!

georgee · 16/11/2012 12:52

Congratulations blue and stunt! Fantastic news! Look forward to hearing your BS stunt when you have the time/strength to post (as I'm planning VBAC but have suspicion will end up with EMCS again!).

WRT fashion etc, I'm so looking forward to getting to a stage where I can feel a little bit sassy and attractive, even if that takes a year. DH actually (I can hardly bring myself to admit this) called me 'Jo Brand' last night as I came into the lounge. I can see this was an involuntary comment made as it came into his head and he was really sorry, but I can also see he had a point - I was all in black, I have grey short hair, and I am massive. I don't think I've put on bags and bags of weight apart from the bump but enough to look jowly! So it's all uphill from here. TBH I've almost been waiting until my childbearing activity is over to make the effort (after all, what's the point of losing the wobbly tummy when you're going to get preggers again?) - and after this baby that's it - so it's really been more than three years since I've made much of an effort. I used to match my underwear too, occasionally ...

However, at the present moment I'm even despairing of maternity clothes - there are about three tops I can wear and two pairs of trousers. These aren't jeans, one is a pair of maternity leggings that end just below the knee, and the other is a pair of elasticated waist trousers I used to use for yoga. Anything with any more of a structured waist is so darned uncomfy I can't sport it for more than five mins.

Definitely feel on the home straight now. I can't run after DD any more (I could a few days ago). The baby feels huge and there's often a lot of pressure in my abdomen. Three weeks max for me if I don't pop before then, that's quite a comforting thought!

DonnaDoon · 16/11/2012 12:56

Yay Stunt congratulations on the birth of James ( fab name ) ...( biased ) :)Thanks

FatimaLovesBread · 16/11/2012 13:02

Congratulation Stunt and Blue

I got some sleep!! Managed to get off at 4am, DH went to work and 6:30am and just woke up at 12.

I was feeling good for a change but now i'm sat crying my eyes out.
Came downstairs to the post and there's a card from my Auntie. It's basically just a passive aggressive excuse of telling me off for not thanking my Grandma for a cardigan she's knitted for the baby. I was planning on thanking my Grandma face to face and giving her a card, but I haven't had chance yet. I only got the cardigan last weekend and since then i've been home feeling crap and with no car. But my Auntie's obviously felt the need to "tell me off" in a card thinly veiled as checking how I am.
I'm so upset now and don't know what to do. I've sent my Grandma a text which is pointless as she hardly ever switches her phone on (the reason why I was waiting to see her). But now i've just spent the last 30 minutes crying SadAngry

YellowWellies · 16/11/2012 13:07

I do agree about the clothes - even in hospital it's important to get out of bed and to get dressed as it stops you feeling like a patient. And I do feel great that I'm back in pre preggers stuff (and am raring to get running again) but .... with BFing I really couldn't guarantee or desire to get glammed up - not with 6 hours of cluster feeding in the middle of the night. If it was a couple of 20 min feeds with a good block of sleep in between then maybe... But we seem to be having one good night followed by one atrocious one. I guess it's a growth spurt and J learning how to control my milk supply to meet his needs. I'm trying to sleep when baby sleeps today but it's too damn bright and sunny.

As for nice underwear - I'm going to wait until I've stopped bleeding as there's something distinctly unglam about a maternity pad the size of a small mattress stuck on a pair of my best frillies!

Experienced BFers any tips on how to get his majesty to feed for a shorter period - he does seem to be sucking and swallowing the entire time rather than just comfort suckling.... but surely he can't be on there for an hour to an hour and a half each time?

YellowWellies · 16/11/2012 13:09

Fatima that's horrid! sorry but what an old bitch (if you excuse my french) that's so not on.

Yey stunt and tink congrats ladies!!!!

Brockle · 16/11/2012 13:18

Fatima that is horrible. When you feel a bit better give your gran a call to thank her and explain how awful you have been feeling generally. Ignore your aunt. People don't realise that we are growing babies not an extra thick skin.

Not sure what to suggest YW . I would try taking him off and see how much he protests. Perhaps try and stimulate him in a different way. After a while try and remove him and take him to the window or take him off to wind him and pop him on a play mat or under a mobile. If he screams blue murder then you know he is still hungry. They can be on there a long time but an hour and a half is quite long. If you are over producing at the moment then he may be comfort sucking and still getting milk at the same time. Your breasts naturally reduce the flow after a time anyway so he may just be comfort suckling small amounts. Hope this helps but slap my wrist if it doesn't Smile

WaitingForMe · 16/11/2012 13:29

Yay for more babies!

I think the issue is exacerbated for me by my PGP now rendering me pretty much housebound. And like georgee I don't fit into a lot of my maternity wear now. I'm wearing pyjamas because one pair of leggings is in the wash and I keep a pair to hand in case I need to leave the house. Only three pairs of bottoms are comfortable. But I'll definitely be getting properly dressed after the birth, I can't wait to be able to walk again!

I am quite stunned at MM having 56 pairs of jeans Shock

CharleeWarlee · 16/11/2012 14:26

Congrats Stunt!!!

Where is Detective today?

I have had my consultant this morning and am booked in for induction on Sunday - Will be 38+3. Hopefully will have my baby by Monday at the latest :D

blonderthanred · 16/11/2012 14:30

I love checking this thread for news!

Congrats Stunt and blue, sounds like 2 very different birth experiences but 2 very lovely babies at the end. Hope Detective is on her way too.... And the rest of you who want it!

Brockle · 16/11/2012 14:32

Good luck for Sunday charlee Smile I think detective had her monitoring this afternoon. Fingers crossed and lots of positive thoughts being sent her way!

YellowWellies · 16/11/2012 14:33

Oh shit waiting I can see now why the desire to be back to 'yourself' in your own clothes and pre-preggo state! That must be really tough.

Hehe I'm not actually sure I could identify 56 different pairs of jeans - surely some would just look like duplicates of the others? I gave my three pairs of non mat jeans to my sister and need to buy some new ones now - my mat jeans just hang off me.

Anyone else reckon Detective is off sprogging and we'll be introduced to baby Detective in the v near future? I hope so. She deserves it now she's waited so long. I'd have gone feral by this point and my actual due date isn't until next Monday.

Dixiebell · 16/11/2012 14:49

I don't think I've ever worn matching underwear. They don't make bras to match M&S black cotton multipacks do they?! I live in my Tracie bottoms now. Not maternity, they just sit under my bump, all my mat jeans dig into bump too much these days.

I can't do too many more days looking after DS on my own while preggers. Was aching all over by lunchtime.

StuntNun · 16/11/2012 14:54

Congratulations to Kissy and Blue! I wonder who will be next...?

kirrinIsland · 16/11/2012 15:27

Congratulation to stunt and blue Thanks

I think you might be right about detective YW - I hope so anyway - she does have previous for raising our hopes and then it turns out she's just had a busy day!

I agree with those upthread - for me, getting up, showered and dressed each day is really important - makes you feel so much more human.

horsey let me know how riding goes. I didn't ride again last time till DD1 was 4 months (though that was because I'd put my horse out on loan so didn't actually have anything to ride!) Can see it being the same again this time, and I'm itching to get back on cos I didn't ride through out pregnancy so it's been aaaages.....

katkit1 · 16/11/2012 15:53

ha-ha Dixiebell re: no matching bras for M&S black cotton multipacks.

but I wish they did

katkit1 · 16/11/2012 15:57

WaitingForMe my wardrobe is very, very limited too. I too can't get around well - I feel like I have a giant egg between my legs at all times. I'm really looking forward to wearing my early maternity clothes and walking FAST - cannot wait.

WaitingForMe · 16/11/2012 16:07

Giant egg is exactly it katkit!

I'm trying not to cry at what you've said YW. I've been feeling so silly and shallow but being told it must be tough makes it all seem a bit more valid. I can't wait to hold my baby but equally I can't wait to hand him to DH and have a minute of it not all being on me to carry and care for him.

YellowWellies · 16/11/2012 16:16

Didn't mean to make you cry waiting it's not shallow to want to feel human again - by the end of pregnancy you just feel like a human incubator alien host Grin - I can't imagine how it must be with PGP / SPD I was uncomfortable enough without that pain - not long and that feeling will be gone though!

I think J has turned me nocturnal - I barely managed 40 winks today but now it's getting dark I'm waking up - cheers little man....

pikz · 16/11/2012 16:46

stunt and blue congratulations.

I do wonder where detective is.

I've been scrubbing floors on my hands and knees. It's made sod all difference to the baby.

I too can't wait to feel and look a little like me again. I miss my clothes and shoes. I have loved being pregnant but I'm ready to have some clothes I fit into and my body back now.

ShellyBobbs · 16/11/2012 16:46

Well Tommy is now 5 days old, after feeding him in bed I put him in his moses basket and hop in the shower, he then has a bath and we skin to skin for a bit. I dress us both and we go downstairs, he has a feed and with my other hand I'll put on my make up and brush my hair. Feel so much better after this little routine and we've managed to do it everyday. The only thing is, after next week we'll have to start this little routine about 6am due to me doing the school run again.

I've worn my normal knickers throughout pregnancy (they are not fancy ones anyway) and am still wearing them now (get some good night pads for after the maternity ones), my bleeding has nearly stopped now.

I sympathise with the sleeping, it was driving me crazy! At least when I'm awake at night now, I'm cuddling my little bundle - you all will too in a couple of weeks Shock

Detective Hope you've gone off the radar as you're giving birth Grin

ShellyBobbs · 16/11/2012 16:47

Oh yes, congratulations Stunt and Blue

Passmethecrisps · 16/11/2012 16:52

Hello ladies!

I so hear you all regarding dressing to feel human. With Penelope being only 4 days old I haven't actually been out the house but I have still aimed to get dressed every day. I am not saying if happens in the morning but it does happen! DH has gone out today and came down stairs after his shower smelling of aftershave. I think he has felt the need to have a bit of 'me' time as well. At the moment I am wearing maternity joggie bottoms and a rugby top with stains from breast milk and lansinoh nipple cream on. Not wearing a bra because my boobs have expanded so spectacularly that my bras actually crush them.

I miss you guys - today is the first chance I have had to read anything at all. I am sorry if I have missed news.

Lilliana · 16/11/2012 18:06

Congratulations Stunt and Blue Thanks

I too am living in a very limited wardrobe and am looking forward to having more choice, however I keep wondering what I am going to be able to wear that I can BF in! Seen lots of lovely jumper / dresses that I would love but v impractical to feed in.

Pasties thanks for the support, I will have to deal with it and am sure it will be worth it in the end but the unknown and waiting is killing me!

YellowWellies · 16/11/2012 18:10

I got two lovely jumpers for my birthday (think Sarah Lund from the Killing) neither of which are suitable for BFing. But I'm desperate to wear them (and not another BFing top with dodgy slits in it) so I've just taken to wearing a vest underneath and stripping off to feed. Which is fine in our home as the Rayburn is toasty but not so good for being out and about.
