happy birthday chick

I am so jealous of all of you ladies who had showers this morning! I can't wait till we have a shower again... oh the luxuary!

oh lane that's even worse than me! I am going to follow your lead and refocus on a lovely home by xmas I think... I have till then to try and re trian DH that every surface is not for putting any old random shit on!!

Thanks georgee and pasties it's an explosive combination.. I'm a time bomb of hormonal pregnant nesting woman who isn't getting her own way!!

Thanks stuntnun, I'd have been v pissed of about the broken glass! happy about the new bed clothes though. I have organised the tiny baby clothes and essentials into a drawer in my wardrobe for now, it's not so dusty in there and the baby will be in our room anyway. I am just itching to get the crib, car seat, pram stuff all washed and ready and all the other clothes hung up but it will have to wait! The cats would only clamber all over it with their dusty paws anyway I guess.

detective you have my sympathy. My DH has worked very hard to get this house done up while working at 6 am every day....but that means that if I ever complain I'm in pain or ask for a massage or help with anything it gets met with a grumpy, I'm tired and sore too and woh-be-tide if I mention the cleaning, he's far too busy with this and that, I can't win and it's driving me mental. He really has no idea how much being heavily pregnant effects me physically and mentally.

I have managed to take DD to nursery and unpack one box so far... better get on.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 07/11/2012 13:11

Feeling a little cheered after a nice lunch out with DH and a little waddle there and back. I am more motivated to get bouncing and find a silly film on TV.

Phew, glad to have you bak missmum

fatima my wash basket is a bit full......Hmm ....if you are looking for something to do that is.......

Passmethecrisps · 07/11/2012 13:12

Hello peeps. Well my growth scan was interesting. Measuring 5th centile at approx 5Ibs. Was strapped to monitoring machine and ended up having two chocolate bars to wake up a completely asleep baby.

In the end consultant gave me a sweep there and then and booked for induction on Sunday.

Off for lunch now

FatimaLovesBread · 07/11/2012 13:26

Sophia Send it my way Smile

I've cheered up a bit, my best friend from uni has just rung, her OH proposed at the weekend Grin So happy for her and can't wait for a fab wedding. I might spend the day looking at wedding dresses and dreaming

DesperateHousewife21 · 07/11/2012 13:27

pass was the sweep and induction on Sunday an option already or did they spring that on you? 5lb is still a good weight though my friend had a 5lber at term.

DebussyHead · 07/11/2012 13:31

Hi ladies! Just about caught up, congrats to all the new mummies. I am due today, had a sweep this morning after a lot of braxton hicks last night (brought on by DTD) and midwife said cervix is soft and long. Induction booked for 16th. I can't sleep either as have really sore throat and hips killing me.

Wonder who us next?!!

Passmethecrisps · 07/11/2012 13:42

DH both were offered and I said I wanted it. Sweep was today and induction booked for Sunday.

Noone seemed unduly worried but felt that the offer was worth making.

Passmethecrisps · 07/11/2012 13:43

Nothing like a good wedding fatima!

Passmethecrisps · 07/11/2012 13:44

Hey due date buddy debussy!

Not sure how prepared my cervix was. Not very I reckon.

Sweep was an interesting experience . . .

Sophiathesnowfairy · 07/11/2012 13:48

My due date today too, consultant tomorrow, how do I persuade them to give me a sweep then rather than wait till next Friday?

Passmethecrisps · 07/11/2012 13:57

Have a wee totty baby it would appear sophia!

My midwife was planning to do one on Friday anyway. Strange how different treatment can be!

I reckon my sweep today is likely to have been more effective than the midwife as the consultant was a bloke with big muckle paws rather than my midwife's slender wee fingers.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 07/11/2012 14:18

I quite fancy a totty actually! Am off or a nap though instead.

DebussyHead · 07/11/2012 14:26

Sophia I'd just ask for it, it doesn't take long and is easy for them to do. Quite uncomfortable! I was doing my hypnobirthing breathing through it to try and relax!! How did you find it Pass? My midwife said it was better for a woman to do it as men although trained have no idea what the sensation and sensitivities of it are! She also had nice slender hands Wink. Just glad she managed it as with my first they could never reach my cervix to do a sweep.

Am now vigorously bouncing on my ball!

Lane I gripped my DH's hand and did the breathing. It hurts a bit but no worse than a smear test but then I find smears really uncomfortable and a quite sore anyway. It's fairly quick so you can cope with it. Think DH's hand still has some nail marks embedded in it mind you.

Brockle · 07/11/2012 15:18

I had a MW with slender fingers pass who apparently had a good track record on the sweep front. I had the sweep at 12 noon and DS2 came at 3am the next morning. I think it is technique rather than size that counts Grin

Best to not plan anything after a sweep as you can get a bit of yucky discharge and strong cramps/BH's afterwards

DebussyHead · 07/11/2012 15:25

Good plan Brockle. I am indeed getting quite strong braxton hicks now though no period type pain.

shanelle5 · 07/11/2012 15:31

I also had a sweep today, I am 41 weeks exactly. Went very well, embarrassingly so as apparently I am already 2-3 cm dilated and baby has hair! Blush didnt feel any pain or discomfort but after 4 previous babies I must have a right bucket fanjo Blush!!!!
Have had loads of strong BX since and a small amount of pink gunk but she said I wont have a show as there is no mucous plug there being that Im already dilated. She was very good and thorough, gave me a bishops score of 7 and the promise of returning for a further sweep Friday morning which I think will kick things off if im already so "favourable"

DebussyHead · 07/11/2012 15:34

Oooh good news Shanelle!! Already dialated sounds like it won't be long for you at all! Lol at bucket fanjo. Fanjo is a term I have picked up from this thread and now use regularly with DH as we both find it rather amusing Grin.

Chunkychicken · 07/11/2012 15:41

That sounds all very positive shanelle :)

I have just one thing to say; do NOT use dark red fluffy bath towels in pregnancy. The shock/surprise/frustration caused by noticing the bits of red on one's panty liner and the realisation that it's just fluff, is NOT worth it!!!

Lilliana · 07/11/2012 15:43

Brockle sorry but your birthing ball story made me laugh out loud - thanks I really needed it Grin

I've managed to get up and to the MW this morning. Got home and fell asleep on the sofa so nothing at all achieved today. Burst into tears on DH for no reason and so ended up crying, laughing and snotty all at the same time. Not attractive!

Sorry to hear there are so many people in limbo, hope something definite happens soon.

Happy Birthday Chick!

Sadly my Dh is also rubbish on the back rubbing front, I feel I can't complain as he works a physical job and is training for triathlons etc but it would be nice if I got one occasionally. (He says he will when I'm in labour but I hurt now!)

My MW has booked another app next week and will talk about booking in a sweep then if nothings happening so interesting to read what it's like.

MissMummy1 · 07/11/2012 15:56

I've spent all day in bed feeling sorry for myself. Yesterday clearly wiped me out and I'm finding this constant need to throw up so debilitating. Just cancelled a tutoring client this evening. Needless to say they weren't impressed, in fact they got quite arsey about it. Hello, I'm 37 weeks pregnant and you have spent the last 3 months or so messing me around! Ffs. Just want to hibernate and wake up with a baby now. Monday's my last official day of working, had planned on keeping just the tutoring up for another week or two to give me something to do but questioning whether or not I'm physically capable now.

Moan moan moan, woe is me! Sad

DesperateHousewife21 · 07/11/2012 15:58

That's v promising shanelle!

My friend text me back, she found out she's having a girl (it was a surprise but they had to look because of the swelling) she's also found out the baby had quite a large tumour possibly on her ovaries. She's got to go to London to talk to a doctor there and they'll tell her when she's got to have the baby (presumably by c sec?) and she's got to have the baby in London too :(
I feel so sorry for her I don't know what to say and it's hard to gauge her feelings over text but don't want to bother her if she's really upset.

StuntNun · 07/11/2012 16:00

I have had two children and I have never had or been offered a sweep. Am I missing out? I take it they aren't an essential part of being pregnant. I have a consultant appointment on Friday but I think I would refuse a sweep as I have an ENT appointment on Monday and I'd like to get my ears sorted more than I'm in a hurry to have this baby.
