Insomnia sucks doesn't it?

emilyeggs · 08/11/2012 01:26

Yep

emilyeggs · 08/11/2012 01:28

I also can't keep still because of restless leg even though in tired Sad

datingthedevil · 08/11/2012 01:35

Stupid question but what is restless legs? My backside is pulsating with pain due to SPD so I'm wide awake

emilyeggs · 08/11/2012 01:39

It's where you get the urge to move and only moving relieves it. It comes back as soon as I stop moving. I heard someone call it restless leg syndrome but thought they had made it up till I googled it.

datingthedevil · 08/11/2012 01:49

That sounds awful. Can you do anything for it?

2blessed · 08/11/2012 02:42

I'm up too!
Great news about dash honey, you must be so relieved and excited.
Well tonight I did my first perineal massage, ive not laughed so much in ages. Found it really difficult to reach - on my back legs akimbo, one leg up on the bath. Dp walked in whilst I was doing it and held my legs up for me. I guess it will get better.
Went to see my gp today and got antibiotics for my lingering cough and steiroids for my eczema flare up.

2blessed · 08/11/2012 02:47

ellie I'm also 33 weeks with a breech baby, mw not worried at this at this stage. I keep reading about this spinning baby's website so may well have a look.

Walnut8 · 08/11/2012 04:13

COD that sounds awful! Even if I don't like the idea of antiBs during labour, at least I know about the group B strep! Thanks once again for the info too jojo.

My stretch marks with DD didnt turn up until I was 40 weeks. Then they came with a vengeance. Nothing like the 1 inch wide ones though strawb wow!!! Your poor sis. Still, they didnt ever fade completely (went silver but not enough for me to be comfortable in a bikini even when tummy was back to ok condition. Shrug). My DH, bless him, says they are battle scars. I know this baby is lying a different way to DD, because the stretch marks this time are all around my belly button - she's def lying all out in front (last time I had them across and around my hips).

BTW those talking about being induced at 40 + 12 days ... my DD was born at 40 + 15 days and was completely healthy, placenta only just starting to get a bit old and tired. They kept scanning me to make sure all okay, but I refused induction until then (ie when I was entirely fed up with it all).

Worried about wedding this weekend and about leaving DD with my inlaws over night (first time!!). Why did I let DH talk me into it????? And emily, I completely agree with everyone else, what shit timing from your partner. Having said that, my cousin's DH was married before with 3 kids and she had to talk him into having one with her and now they have two together (he has 5 in total), so you never know. Def not the right time to have it out though. Bloody hell!

emilyeggs · 08/11/2012 04:40

Just had the earliest breakfast ever, got bored of waiting for morning. I'll be knackered for my scan (may fall asleep on couch as she's doing it)

Bellaboo123 · 08/11/2012 04:44

emily that was crap timing from your DP...hope you're ok.

ellie I'm also breech and have been since about 29 weeks - I'm now 35w. Debating ECV - not sure if I want it as heard it can be quite unsuccessful and painful...

honey fab new on Dash can imagine its so special to have him home with you!

Grrrr wide awake...Angry

Walnut8 · 08/11/2012 06:17

ECV Bellaboo - is that where they try to turn the baby?

Bellaboo123 · 08/11/2012 07:03

walnut yes get me sounding all technical with the lingo...!

SpottyTeacakes · 08/11/2012 07:12

Bella I think there are lots of old threads in childbirth about ECVs if you do an advanced search.

Dd has gone to MIL's today and I'm going to a friends to make chilli jam, going to go back to bed first though Grin need to tidy up first though how can someone so small make such a mess?!

Sorry your dp is being such an arse emily

SpottyTeacakes · 08/11/2012 07:56

Ooo and hoping Dash's first night in his new home went well Smile

utopian99 · 08/11/2012 08:09

honey how lovely about Dash! Am getting quite impatient to meet the crumb now..

On a different note, how do you do perineal massage? Had a go but can't help thinking i was doing it wrong as no idea how what i was doing would make a difference!

Clarella · 08/11/2012 08:29

Sorry to bob on -do you think that if they want to keep me in for 3 - 5 days for 'head stuff' post birth that I will be put on / can request a single room if available? Ironically I think I'd stand a better chance mentally all round if was being treated as a normal case now but given the thyroid/stress/slapped cheek/constant hospital appts induced anxiety I agree there could be more wobbles than 'normal ' but the social stigma pressure of being on a ward with other women for head stuff is a sure fire way to make me embarrassed and anxious. If everything goes well physically I don't want to be in that place longer than nec. On sobbing sofa now, trying to be quiet as poss as pils are helping paint
Bathroom and seeing psychiatrist later to find out if I can take beta blockers when bf but feel like I have to be totally composed - it's the system making me ill !

StrawberrytallCAKE · 08/11/2012 08:36

Clarella I don't really know the answers to your questions but I know you can request a single room where I am and it costs £40. The mw said if there were any high priority cases or women who needed rather than wanted the room I wouldn't be allowed it which is fine by me. I would say if you feel that it would have a negative affect on you then you would be in the need it category and I hope they will get you one x good luck later.

COD that sounds quite scary, did they know it was strep b straight away?

Emily I wonder whether he is starting to feel overwhelmed just before the baby comes? I know its not acceptable and he should be supporting you and not saying silly things but as he knows what is about to happen he might be worrying and it's coming out the wrong way?

My cervix is burning, I don't remember this last time!

PurplePidjin · 08/11/2012 08:43

Clarella, I'll be taking the opportunity of a few days on the local MLU and afaik that's pretty standard round here - nothing to do with "head stuff" Wink Can you rationalise it as Postnatal care?

SpottyTeacakes · 08/11/2012 08:44

Clarella there are private rooms at my hospital too £50. I got mine for free last time because dd wasn't with me. I don't think they would keep you in for longer because of that unless they were particularly worried about you. I suppose it's hard for you to know how you will feel until after though but I should think the daily home visits from mw would be enough for them to support you and arrange extra help if needed?

FriendofDorothy · 08/11/2012 08:53

Clarella Why are they likely to keep you on the ward for 'head stuff'?

emilyeggs · 08/11/2012 09:54

Just back from my scan to check placenta. That's ok but baby measuring rather large, already over 5lb (I'm only 32+6). I have to go back two hours after my lunch for a glucose blood test Sad. Also the baby is still back to back which is why I have been very uncomfortable.

brooke89 · 08/11/2012 09:59

Dating- at least it's not just my hospital being rubbish down here.fingers crossed we're early so we don't have to worry about that'

SpottyTeacakes · 08/11/2012 10:08

It'll be ok emily Smile my last weight was 4lb13 and that was 31+6. Can you see on the paperwork whereabouts the abdominal measurement is in comparison with the head/legs/weight?

Stacks · 08/11/2012 10:31

Morning everyone. I've been lurking so long you've all dropped off my threads list, so it's time to make a post!

Honey so glad Dash is home with you now. Hope you have a wonderful first day with him.

Clarella I'm sure there will be a room for you if they keep you in longer. Speak to your midwife to see what the options are maybe, or call your local unit to ask?

emily I've not read back far enough to have read your post - but I hope things get better soon.

Sorry for those who still can't sleep. It's not much comfort to be told it's "good practice" for the baby being here.. I feel very lucky to still be mostly sleeping through the night, though I'm waking up at least 10 times to turn over due to hip and back pain, I'm at least getting back to sleep quickly after.

I've only caught up on this page so far, quite busy with work as I've not got long to go now. Last day is next Friday, and there's no replacement for me yet, so I have to write everything down rather than train a new person. It's surprisingly time consuming on top of doing my work!
