Titsalinabumsquash · 28/10/2012 08:19

Good morning.

We've taken a day out today, no one from anywhere got back to me yesterday.
DP is shattered, I'm exhausted and both the kids are behaving so badly (unsurprising)
The house is beginning to get messy which is setting off my anxiety (very small problem at present I know)
Trying to sort half term care/entertainment is proving fruitless.
So yes, Tomorrow all organisations/places are open. My community midwife (they say) is back, DP has his final allowed day off work.
I'm going to start a thread just to get all this anger and disappointment written down I think.

Congratulations Horsey and anyone else I might of missed. Smile

Nothing I don't think happening in the way of labouring by myself here ( although as I told the hospital I can barely distinguish between fetal movement and pain atm regardless of anything being a contraction!)

Passmethecrisps · 28/10/2012 08:50

Oh my goodness Horsey! What an amazing weight. Sorry for my total ignorance - how long is typical for pushing? 4 hours sounds like a very long time.

I hope you are getting lots of rest and that Mr Horsey is looking after you.

Great to hear from you VQ. Being baby side does sound much more fun than bump side. You painted a lovely family picture.

DesperateHousewife21 · 28/10/2012 08:52

Oooh I managed to squeeze colostrum out both sides Grin

Chunkychicken · 28/10/2012 09:07

congratulations horsey. Lovely news and a great weight.

Went to the wedding yesterday and although DD was a sweetheart really and it was a lovely day, a couple of days without full naps and DD was running about like a mad thing at 8pm when all I wanted to do was relax a bit, so we left at 9. I was so tired I could have cried!! Had backache and BH all the way home. Seems my body likes doing trial-runs in the evening.

Want things to kick off but equally started feeling weepy with the thought of how much it will affect DD. Madness!! Baby will probably take a couple more weeks yet, so will have to make the most of DD while I can.

pass think up to 2hrs pushing is average. Positioning of both baby and mum is key here: if things are taking time, sometimes just letting gravity help speeds things up. I wish I had known that with my DD, as I was laid on my back and despite active labour being really quick, it took a long time to push, so I should have flipped myself onto all fours or something. Won't make that mistake this time!! :)

Good luck Tits hope you get some action on your behalf.

Passmethecrisps · 28/10/2012 09:12

Thank you chunky!

It must be very weird thinking about the impact on your first born - we are distracte enough by the impact on the cat! Hopefuly you will have a lovely week or two to have lots of DD time.

DesperateHousewife21 · 28/10/2012 09:25

I don't think ds will be in the slightest bit bothered/ interested in the baby but will prob be out out that he won't have my constant attention but he's v good at entertaining himself.

We got the Moses basket down from the loft, just aswell because it needed a wash! Looks really strange seeing it next to the bed again.

MissMummy1 · 28/10/2012 09:26

Congrats horsey!! Hope the newbie snuggles are totally making up for everything. Can't wait to see pics and hear a name xxxx

In laws eventually turned up 3.5 hours late yesterday. No apology whatsoever. Had a lovely meal out last night but then this morning after dh had gone to work they announced they were going out for breakfast and 'could I stay and look after the dog' ?! I just can't get over how rude they are! Or am I missing something? They've totally overtaken the house too, but my main gripe there actually is an unreasonable control freak lack of organisation thing! Arghhh! Repeat, it's only a few days....

Passmethecrisps · 28/10/2012 09:36

Oh MM so much for plans for them to entertain themselves - sounds like they are all over it! Cheeky swines.

Woke myself up snoring this morning. Still feel pretty dozy whereas DH is actually bouncing around tigger stylee.

Iheartpasties · 28/10/2012 10:07

It is nearly November! Horay!

WaitingForMe · 28/10/2012 10:19

Wow at the audacity of them MM Shock

Congratulations VQ and horsey. Still seems unreal I'll have one myself soon.

Lilliana · 28/10/2012 10:30

Big congratulations to VQ, Horsey and Tia

Finally managed to catch up, I'm hoping I'll do better when I'm on mat leave!

I'm pretty sure I will be overdue so settled in for a few weeks yet; I hope some other people will still be around!

Is there a stats list for people who have had babies/not yet had babies around anywhere?

Iheartpasties · 28/10/2012 11:05

My husband normally cycles into work coz it is only down the road, but tomorrow he is going to take the car! It's so he can head home asap when he gets 'the' phone call! Seems a bit surreal to be honest!

wellieboots · 28/10/2012 11:37

Congrats horsey, even if it wasn't the birth that you wanted, you have done it! Your little boy is here safely and that is the only thing that matters. Try and see if you can get a debrief either while you're still in hospital or later on, if you think that would help you to process it.

Congrats vq, family life sounds amazing and I love the name.

How many more babies before we get to November?!

And tits I really hope you get some answers on Monday, we are all so Angry about the way you've been treated

ShellyBobbs · 28/10/2012 11:56

Lovely to hear from you VQ, glad everything is well [hgrin]

I'm covered from head to toe in Sudocreme! This itchy rash won't be soothed with calomine.

DesperateHousewife21 · 28/10/2012 12:14

I'm losing a lot of mucus, a lot thicker than it has been. Pleeeeease let something be happening (but not til wed!)

mrswee · 28/10/2012 12:20

turn my head for a day or two and so many babies get born!
congratulations all of you!

horsey your short and blunt post makes me think of the birth of my DD 3 years ago, that is exactly how I felt and we had a forcepts fully preped up in theatre because it was almost a very last min emergancy CS.
I hope you recover quickly. Try taking Arnica if you aren't already. x

Chunkychicken · 28/10/2012 12:21

Oh wow, DH that does sound like things gearing up!! 37wks on Wed? I have had a lot of discharge/mucus too, which is disconcerting to say the least, but nothing like a show/mucus plug.

DD has just told me she wants baby here now. Very hard trying to explain to her that I don't get a say in that...[hgrin]

YellowWellies · 28/10/2012 12:52

Horsey you total legend. If you've not already got get Mr Horsey out to get distilled witch hazel bp. Pop a cap full on yer maternity pad - tis a god send for stitches. Also make friends with a bidet. TMI alert but I do a happy wiggle bordering on the orgasmic when I put on a fresh pad!

All good here, peedie (orcadian for little) man is doing so well. We're ramming him full of my expressed milk and he's working on his tan to beat the jaundice. No transfusions up here. He's been on the breast (and got a tidal wave poor wee guy!) and we should be trying full on Bfing tomo if his levels stay down. Can't be out of the light too long just yet. He's lying next to me and is squeaking and wriggling in his sleep.

The care up here is mindblowing DH slept in with us last night - am feeling v lucky. Tits get yer self up here ASAP

VQ your wee man sounds perfect. Well done hen x x

Awesome news from Tia (thea was on our girl list!) and Blonder. Good luck to everyone. Life on the other side is amazing!

ShellyBobbs · 28/10/2012 13:07

Good to hear from you YW, so glad things are progressing nicely with your little man Grin

TheDetective · 28/10/2012 13:09

Another good nights sleep here Blush I am getting much better at getting myself back to sleep Grin Had no idea what time it was when I decided to get up though... was it 10? Or 11? Or 12... it was one of them anyway!!

Planning a chill out day, doing as little as possible! My Dad bought me Raclette cheese back from Switzerland, so that is tea sorted Grin. Been craving it for a looooooooooooooong time! I love it! For those who don't know, its a Swiss cheese, and you do it with boiled new potatoes, pickles, and black pepper, the cheese gets melted under a grill on the table, and you pour it over. It is lush! And I don't really like cheese dishes usually! First time I had it I was 13, and had a proper 13 year old teenage strop I DON'T EVEN LIKE CHEESE! Not sure how they got me to try it, but I've never looked back! You can put other things with it, DP has his with ham, he rolls the potatoes, pickles and cheese in to a slice of ham!

Is it wrong to want my tea now?!

Oh, and here is a question for you from DS. He wants to know of any movies which aren't comedy, and don't have smoochy romantic stuff in it! He reckons every film has boring romantic bits in! I must admit to be scratching my head! I can only suggest horrors, which I won't be suggesting to him ha! Please give me ideas to throw back at him Grin

StuntNun · 28/10/2012 13:17

Detective Die Hard is an action film with no romantic bits in it. Also Aliens is sci-if but he might be a bit young for that! The Incredible Hulk has minimal romance as Bruce Banner's girlfriend has a new beau in it. Ghostbusters doesn't really have romance but could be considered a comedy. Jaws doesn't have much in the way of romance either.

OP posts:
TheDetective · 28/10/2012 13:25

Ah hah... off to make him eat his words Wink cheers stunt!

TheDetective · 28/10/2012 13:28

OH FGS! He said all those have romance in, except he hasn't seen Aliens or Die Hard!

TheDetective · 28/10/2012 13:40

Has anyone else still not turned the heating on Blush? I fear DP and DS may be turning to ice poles, while I'm still sat here in pj bottoms and vest tops! I even slept without covers on last night!

I just keep telling them to layer up Grin I usually have the heating on year round!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 28/10/2012 13:50

I am cold!! Despite the extra layer! I think is because I always seem to be tired, I have been snuggled up on the sofa in a blanket AND we have the heating on!

None of the war films DH watches have romance or humour and that is why I leave him to it!

DH Huzzah for mucus!
