Yes, one in town actually! Was just thinking of asking my mum to lend one tbh Blush

Though DP in town tomorrow for work! Hmmmm...

I just put a block of soap that DH uses in a nappy bag and put it in the 'kit bag'! Although I am a bit anal about hand washing (not literally mind Grin) so have liquid soap dispensers at both sinks, and bought special "matching hand towels" to have in the bathroom when we were selling the house.

Chunkychicken · 01/11/2012 15:46

Why not borrow and save the cash? Its not "essential" to have your own guest/hand towels to give birth is it...

TheDetective · 01/11/2012 15:50

I'd just never thought about it before now!

As I say, we just wash our hands with stuff we already have - don't buy soap or liquid soap. And the towels are always hanging in the bathroom, so never thought about getting specific hand towels!

This is why I love this thread Grin

I was more worried about having nice biscuits in Grin

BarmeeMarmee · 01/11/2012 16:14

Detective I'd be more worried about biscuits too!

Good luck tomorrow Everso

Chunkychicken · 01/11/2012 16:19

I got biscuits too, and plenty of tea & coffee!! :)

May run out of milk though if I'm not careful Blush

And made sure I bought a fruit loaf ready for after - read someone else had that after their home birth, rather than just toast, and I thought that sounded fantastic Grin.

TheDetective · 01/11/2012 16:36

I've put DP in charge of making sure we have enough milk and toilet roll at all times Grin

We have a spare milk in the freezer, just in case he forgets!

I also have booby milk if no one objects Grin

TheDetective · 01/11/2012 16:36

The toilet roll has run out more than once though... so I am a little concerned Grin

Titsalinabumsquash · 01/11/2012 16:45

Argh, new consultant NOT coming now, he is just going to "review" at some point today (although running out of time now)

Everyday they give me false hope Sad I think I'm just going to be left rotting in here until next Wednesday at this rate.

I've phoned everyone suggested, spoken to everyone suggested, everyone's been lovely, everyone's agreed with me but they cannot make the decision. Angry

TheDetective · 01/11/2012 16:47

Why? What did Head of Midwifery say?

TheDetective · 01/11/2012 16:47

I nearly rang your ward last night but that would be overstepping the internet boundaries clearly

Blush
DesperateHousewife21 · 01/11/2012 16:53

tits sounds like they're leading you around in circles, how frustrating!

Titsalinabumsquash · 01/11/2012 16:56

Haha that would be a shock! "Phone call for Tits?!"

She requested the new consultant and said she was shocked at the way my current consultant was behaving as its not like her. Apparently she's very good with patients needs usually.
She also said she was sympathetic to my situation and although she agrees that induction ASAP is the only thing that will solve the problem it can only be made by a consultant so she phoned through to the consultant on call and he was coming but now he's not.
My usual consultant is in tomorrow weather or not she'll come and see me is another matter she hasn't the last 2 days she's worked.
Bloody infuriating, the facilities and handling team came to see me today, SHE. Managed to talk to new consultant just me that apparently can't.

It's a shame, all the midwives are so helpful and kind it's just these elusive top dogs.

TheDetective · 01/11/2012 16:58

Ok, so tomorrow morning you speak to the HOM again, and tell her that what she proposed to organise hasn't happened, and you are NOT happy that you have been stringed along even further.

You just have to keep making noise. I promise :)

And of course I'd of used your full title... Phone call for MsBumsquash Grin

TheDetective · 01/11/2012 16:59

Strung?

What is the correct grammatical term here!

Elizadoesdolittle · 01/11/2012 17:17

Oh yay izzy. huge congratulations.

So no November babies yet then. Who will be first.....??

Off to aqua natal tonight. I'm looking forward to feeling weightless in the pool. Been feeling very heavy today. Everyone I see tells me there is no way baby will stay in till due date. I wish they'd stop saying that as it will make it worse if I go overdue.

MissMummy1 · 01/11/2012 17:27

All the best for tomorrow everso and congrats izzy! Sorry I missed your post earlier. James is a lovely name! Hope you're recovering well xx

Tits I'd have totally lost it by now not that I'm unstable or anything! The treatment you're receiving is abysmal and it's shocking to hear that such 'care' exists.

Had a quiet afternoon. Wandered round the village with dh and popped into the wee cafe for a late lunch. Can't get over how cheap but amazing it is! 2 wrap thingies, a couple of coffees and 2 slabs of homemade cake for a tenner? Yum! Feeling slightly less emotionally unstable now Blush. Oh and I've just managed to sell a couple of old mobiles that have been kicking around in boxes for god knows how long for £80 to one of these recycling companies so feeling v pleased with myself!

NervousAt20 · 01/11/2012 17:32

Hello ladies Smile haven't had a chance to keep up with this thread it moves so fast Grin

Hope everyone is doing well and taking things easy!! November is finally upon us

BabyN is now 13 days old!!! I can't understand where the time has gone. She is absolutly beautiful and me and DP completely adore her and couldn't imagine life any other way soppy sods

I'm sure there have been lots more babies born so congratulations to all new mummies Grin sorry to have missed announcements but I'm sure they'll be lots more of you over on the post natal thread soon

Take care xx

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 01/11/2012 17:35

Marking my place so I cN keep up. He was a Halloween baby whoever asked!

Induced due to increase BP and fetal tackycardia.

Titsalinabumsquash · 01/11/2012 17:50

Yy to calling HOM again tomorrow, consultant (new) phoned the ward to say he's in theatre busy so see usual consultant tomorrow. Angry

Today I've had my bottom checked for bed sores Blush my bowels (which have stopped working completely since Monday) discussed.
Apparently patient dignity means nothing in the NHS anymore, I feel so humiliated, I'm a 25 year old active, fiercely independent woman that is being forced into this state!! Argh!!! I can't even be angry with anyone because all the people I personally talk to agree with me, the first consultant I see is going to get ripped to shreds at the rate although I can see them packing me off home on oramorph which has miraculously become an option after weeks of it being a huge no no, or just steering clear until Wednesday.
First thing I'm doing when I get home from this is getting a bloody good solicitor and some damn good private health insurance. Angry

kissyfur · 01/11/2012 18:12

Just had a spooky moment with DP, earlier on today I thought of a new girls name I liked for the LO. DP just rung to say he'd had an idea for a girls name, and it was the same name!! Weird or what?!

Lilliana · 01/11/2012 18:15

Good luck tomorrow everso and tits as always hope someone finally pulls their finger out and does something to actually help.

Congrats Izzy, so pleased for you.

Had a lovely day, spent the afternoon catching up with some friends and having a good gossip.

MissMummy1 · 01/11/2012 18:19

Kissy I think it's meant to be!

We've spent all day debating girls names as we still have none. Today's possible suggestion is Lorna Claire. My sisters are Laura and Fiona and Claire is an acronym of the first letters of all the important women in dh's life. I'm undecided on whether it's a little old fashioned and don't know what it could be shortened to. I still like the name Lacey after a lovely little girl I taught and did a case study with on my first ever uni placement. He hates it Sad.

Titsalinabumsquash · 01/11/2012 18:27

TOMORROW! I'm in the induction diary for tomorrow!!!
