Haha, to pinch a term, my 'inner sloth' has been ruling the roost lately and I need to get this little thing out now before I scratch myself to death with my allergy rash Grin

ValiumQueen · 01/11/2012 12:11

DS put on 40g in two days so no threats to admit today.

kissyfur · 01/11/2012 12:16

Congrats izzy!! Thanks lovely name, my DH is a James too Smile

Great news on your mum cacacaz

And welcome glenda

applepieinthesky · 01/11/2012 12:31

Congrats izzy. So pleased for you and your mum cacacaz that's fabulous news.

Our new sofas are being delivered tomorrow and paid someone to dump the old ones today so I now have nowhere to sit. I've got loads of books and crap I need to move before the new ones arrive so that's my job for today. Also going to see my auntie and her 5 month old boy for some cuddles before she goes back home tomorrow.

Brockle · 01/11/2012 12:32

Love the name Glenda!

Congrats Izzy I was hoping your silence meant something Smile.

Crap nights sleep fell asleep at 8pm last night until 11pm and then was awake until 3pm. I would rather be sleep deprived by a newborn thats for sure.

Great news Caracaraz Smile

The weighing police described on the postnatal thread are starting to both scare me and piss me off at the same time. Why can't we just be allowed to enjoy our babies if they are happy and gaining weight at their own pace?

kissyfur · 01/11/2012 12:42

Me too brockle I remember what they were like with DD, I was told I had to give her formula if she hadn't gained a certain amount by their next visit which I really didn't want to do. I remember crying and crying about it. Luckily she had gained enough for them when they next weighed her. They really shouldn't bully news mums like they do, I really feel for VQ and the others who are having to deal with this

Brockle · 01/11/2012 12:48

Its appalling. I can understand if a baby looks undernourished or isn't producing wet nappies but if a baby is happy and contented then why undermine you.

FatimaLovesBread · 01/11/2012 12:50

Right, Baby Fatima definitely can't arrive until next week. DH just rang, he's finishing work at 5pm today then he's got to go back at 8pm to fit a job that will mean he won't be home until 2/3am. Tomorrow he'll just be working 6hrs then Saturday he'll be working 6am until late afternoon!! At least there'll be lots of overtime pennies to cover his paternity leave.
And my DSis who's my secondary birth partner if I need her is away at conference from today until Saturday night.

Titsalinabumsquash · 01/11/2012 12:58

No joy here yet, still battling to get a consultant to see me, there have been talks of sending me home again without pain relief until the booked Wed induction, I've told them that ISN'T happening, so I have a horrible feeling I'll be here until next Wed with regular attempts at sweeps. Hmm

I've spoken to the wad midwife who is agreeing with me as is the dr but its the consultant who still needs to make the final call.

Good news Izzy congratulations I hope you're SPD free by now! Smile

Mine appears to be getting worse if that's even possible.

CharleeWarlee · 01/11/2012 12:58

Congrats Izzy

IME, the growth scans that I had with my last pregnancy were pretty accurate. My last scan I had at 33 weeks said baby was 3lb 13oz roughly. She was stillborn at 33+5 and weighed 3lb 15.5oz.

Im 36 weeks today and have another growth scan tomorrow as this baby is also small (kind of expected when DD1 was 5lb 10oz 37+5)

DesperateHousewife21 · 01/11/2012 13:04

Congrats izzy!! James is ds' middle name :) was it 1am wed or thurs??

Afternoon ladies!

Welcome to all the 'new' ladies!!

I can't believe I am going to have a November baby Grin ANY TIME NOW BABY D'YA HEAR ME!!!! 39+5, and definitely fed up now! Didn't think I'd feel this eager, but since my mat leave kicked in, other than not wanting a halloween or birthday (4th!) baby, I have been actively wanting it to arrive!

Morrck wraps - I have a code ladies! tcnov12 for £7.19 off!

Congratulations on baby James Izzy!

Snowsuits in car seats - I always advise people not to use them in a car seat when baby is going in the car (as opposed to just in the car seat on the pram!) unless they are the thinner fleece type. They are padded, and just as 'dangerous' to baby in the event of a crash. Safest way is to have the normal clothing on, then strapped in tightly (tighter than you would imagine!) with blankets over the top, and a hat if it is cold. Or a wrap is fine, or the thin all in one suits. Basically you want to prevent baby being able to be flung free of the seat in the event of an accident. The looser the straps, obv the worst, but if you imagine a thick snowsuit, or blanket wrapped under the straps, baby can still move about more than is safe. Does that make sense!

I'm feeling a little down today as we can't really go anywhere or do anything on my birthday, for the first time in my life! We really can't afford to waste any money at the minute on anything that isn't essential. I have got savings put away, but do not want to use them for that kind of thing! I am feeling rather sorry for myself though! At the minute I'm thinking of cooked breakfast in bed, massage off DP, take dog for a nice walk somewhere. Possibly cinema in the afternoon, although there isn't much out I want to see! And then a trip to my favourite takeaway in the evening. We have about £30 that we could justify spending! Usually I'd be going shopping all day, and an evening out with meal and some event! I love my birthdays usually as totally pamper myself Grin

Titsalinabumsquash · 01/11/2012 13:37

I finally have another consultant coming to see me but my dragon is in tomorrow so I'm not sure if he'll say wait until then and talk to her.

TheDetective · 01/11/2012 13:39

Shelly My fruit craving significantly subsided around 25 weeks or so Grin and my crap craving replaced it!

I am eating for 10 it seems at the minute. No matter what I eat, I am not full!!! Shock

Last night I had my tea, then 4 bags of crisps, a toffee apple, 2 toffee yoghurts and a whole load of sweets Blush

ShellyBobbs · 01/11/2012 14:00

Detective lol, you obviously need the calories NOW! Grin I'm still a fruit bowl picker, was eating mouldy plums that I found at the bottom of it the other day, was very gutted I had missed them!

Have you looked on all those websites, Wowcher and all that for some deals for a birthday treat? You might get something on ebay, last minute tickets or something?

I can hardly walk, this baby just hasn't stopped moving about and I just feel so FULL that it would be impossible to get any bigger, I feel like it is now in the top of my legs........

Oh don't get me started on that feeding malarkey going on over there, I am fuming and I DARE anyone to comment on my baby and breast feeding. If they mention top ups to me they will be asked to leave and I won't have them back either.

MissMummy1 · 01/11/2012 14:11

Can't stop crying today for no reason. Left my mum's early because I got unreasonably emotional when she told me I looked tired and now just had a full on teary sob fest at dh as he had the audacity to use the landline phone during the day to book a course. We only get evening and weekend calls, but his 2min phonecall probably cost all of 50p. And yet I cried at the thought of him being lazy and not using his mobile Blush Sad

TheDetective · 01/11/2012 14:19

I have just eaten a baked potato with cheese. Didn't even touch the sides! So I've had another toffee yoghurt, 2 packs of haribo (little ones obv!!) and a cherry scone with clotted cream.

There is no end to my gluttony! And yet I still fail to put weight on! Fluctuate with in 2kg constantly! So I guess I need it Grin

I was eating veggie lasagne and potato skins at 5am the other week, so I guess this is an improvement!

I'm also much better at sleeping now! Still waking, but going back to sleep fairly quickly! Unless DP is snoring next to me!

I can't wait for dinner Blush I'm making a veggie chilli, with nachos and mozerella drizzled over. It is fecking lush - let me tell you! It is one of the favourite dinners in this house!

And I haven't seen anything on groupon or the like - get the blasted emails every day! It also has to be something that DS can do, as I haven't arranged anyone to look after him, although I suspect we could if we needed to - I'd just feel a little mean!

TheDetective · 01/11/2012 14:22

I cried last night because DP failed to clean the drops of coke from all over the hall, kitchen and living room that had come from a cap which literally exploded in to pieces spraying an entire bottle of coke everywhere.

Normally I'd just get mad that he hadn't cleaned up. But instead I just cried and ranted that I had to do everyfuckingthing in the house to get a proper job done.

It is never as effective with tears and snot running down your face Grin

eversomuch · 01/11/2012 14:42

Congratulations to Izzy and any other new arrivals I've missed this week. Hope everyone is doing well.

DS is scheduled to arrive tomorrow via c-section. I'll be given a time slot this evening, but the nurse I met with on Monday said I will probably be one of the early ones given some issues from last time. Will be back with news sooooon!

CharleeWarlee · 01/11/2012 15:15

Wish I actually had an appetite! Having to force feed myself and feeling full when I havent eaten :(

It seems to have run away from me! Only last week I was eating like a horse

Chunkychicken · 01/11/2012 15:33

Can't keep up today!!

Congratulations Izzy on James' arrival, and excellent news Caracaraz.

Good luck for tomorrow Everso and keeping fingers and toes crossed that your consultant sees sense (and suffers horrifically with SPD in pg in future and sees the error of her ways perhaps??!!) Tits.

Wow Shelly, am in awe, and Detective, wish I coud eat like that and not put on weight (I am in fact just eating for 2 adukts and weighing nearly as much...)

hiya Glenda.

Still hating iPad for keeping up with ths thread - it can't keep up with me. Grrr.

I too had a rough start regarding DD's weight gain and breastfeeding. The stupid thing was, it coincided with her developing reflux but they didn't seem to give a rat's arse about that. Oh and, a week before, the HV told me to feed her LESS frequently (at 2wks old) when everything I know about milk supply now contradicts this. Think most HV like formula because its predictable and measurable.

Do I need anything else for my home birth? Have everything on the list I was given by MW and extras, but not sure i've thought of everything...

plenty of old/dark towels
2 shower curtains
2 old sheets/duvet cover to go on shower curtains
towels to wrap baby
hot water bottles
maternity pads (many)
hospital bag for me & baby containing usual bits
2 (new but machine washable) pillows
2 dark coloured pillowcases (for above)
1 v-shaped pillow with bin bag wrapping to protect it from mess
towels and soap for MWs
bin bags
bath robe
birth ball
anglepoise lamp
relaxation music CD

Will that suffice??!! Blush

Family friend who was due 2 days before me has gone into labour...

Oh and what does it say about me that 1) I am not enjoying the box of thorntons chocs I was bought (prefer cadburys heros or quality street at mo Wink and 2) that I'm eating them anyway??!!! Hmm

TheDetective · 01/11/2012 15:37

SHIT!

I don't have any soap or hand towels. We don't have guests so we use the shower gel and normal towels for hand washing Blush

DP is gonna have to go the shop...!!

TheDetective · 01/11/2012 15:40

Or the washing up liquid if its washing hands at kitchen sink Blush

Chunkychicken · 01/11/2012 15:41

Have you got a Primark close by Detective? Their towels are great!
