Morning all. A truly wretched night, DD has a horrid cold and wailed until 4am when she finally passed out. It's like she is giving us a little taster of how it is going to be after the weekend. Took her to the drs this morning and it is just a cold, so no real risk to baby when we come home, but crappy timing. Off to the hospital for pre-section check up. All getting quite real now!

Sorry for others feeling yucky for whatever reason.

Did anyone miss me?? I have a son!! Born yesterday at 1am exactly. 7lb 9 oz. His name is James.

georgee · 01/11/2012 10:54

Oh!! Hurrah, Izzy! Well done you! Look forward to hearing all about it when you have half a sec. James is a lovely name, top of our list for boys, and a great weight! Your absence was commented upon yesterday ...

Welcome glenda!

kirrinIsland · 01/11/2012 10:54

Welcome barmee :)

madam hope your DD feels better soon and that you manage to catch up on some sleep.

I am desperately trying not to think about the sleepless nights that are to come - I have blocked out the zombie feeling that goes with having a newborn, and I have reached the point where I moan if DD has me up in the night more than once - am I in for a shock Grin

Sorry about your home birth peaky Are you hugely disappointed? I guess it's best to be in hospital in that sort of situation but still gutting if it's really not what how you wanted to do it :(

Peaky1 · 01/11/2012 10:55

Congrats Izzy Thanks! We're you induced then??

Peaky1 · 01/11/2012 10:58

I'm not actually that bothered about where I give birth as our hospital maternity care has a great reputation. I'm just worried about why his growth has slowed down. I don't think I prepared myself for any problems. I'm just worried to know whether or not he's alright but nobody can really give a definitive answer until he is born

FatimaLovesBread · 01/11/2012 11:00

Morning all! Welcome to the newcomers Smile

I managed to sleep in my bed last night Shock fell asleep about 9pm and each time I woke I managed to get back to sleep, yay!
Still has period cramps during the night and a bit this morning. Wondering whether it's because I wore myself out yesterday.
If it was very early labour then it would at some point turn in to clear contractions wouldn't it?

DH spoke to MIL yesterday, she said she didn't pay £100 for the moses basket, it was half price. So I suppose that's something.

Can't remember who mentioned it, but your not supposed to wear snowsuits in car seats either for safety and over heating reasons. It's to do with them being puffier than normal clothes so the safety strap doesn't fasten as tightly so if you were in an accident the air in the snowsuit would compress and the straps would be too loose.

Can't believe it's November ShockGrin
I'm full term tomorrow!

FatimaLovesBread · 01/11/2012 11:11

X-post!
Congratulations Izzy! Thanks

Iheartpasties · 01/11/2012 11:12

izzy!!! congrats!!!!!!

peaky were you having extra scans for a reason or are they standard in your area? I often wonder about the accuracy of scans wrt size/weight. I wonder what the error margins are?

kirrinIsland · 01/11/2012 11:15

Sorry glenda I missed your post - welcome :)

And sorry izzy - crossed posted with you. Congratulations Grin lovely name. Hope you are both well.

Iheartpasties · 01/11/2012 11:18

fatima full term, wooh! It's pretty good going when you think about it :)

kirrinIsland · 01/11/2012 11:19

Fatima that's what I've been having, on and off for 3 days now - period pains and lots of BHs but no proper contractions and no apparent pattern to it. I am working on the basis that I will know soon enough if it turns into proper labour?!

blonderthanred · 01/11/2012 11:19

Wowee Izzy, our first November baby! He sounds perfect, love the name. Congratulations! xx

blonderthanred · 01/11/2012 11:20

Oh or did you mean yesterday at 1am as in Wed? Our last Oct baby then! Grin

Cacacaz · 01/11/2012 11:22

Congratulations Izzy

Welcome newbies Grin

tits I hope you and dh get some joy today, you have been treated appallingly.

I'm 39+4 today no sign of anything happening other than lots of gunky mucous last night and this am, I'm thinking and hoping this might be some of my plug.

I have a lovely afternoon planned going out for a celebratory lunch with mum as she has just been given the all clear from her scans after being treated for breast cancer, which was diagnosed in April last year. I have been in tears since she phoned to tell me the news, it is such a massive weight off our shoulders that I actually can't put it into words except to say fuck you cancer!! I'm also going to have a Thai foot massage which is apparently very similar to reflexology, sheer indulgence.

Iheartpasties · 01/11/2012 11:27

Fuck you cancer! brilliantly put. Mega huge congrats caracarcaz

kirrinIsland · 01/11/2012 11:27

WaitingForMe · 01/11/2012 11:28

Congratulations Izzy. DH is a James Smile

Last night I started getting some lower back pain quite unlike anything I've felt to date. Hurts a lot today as well. Still, all the BHs have been nothing so I'm grumpily assuming its simply a new way for my body to torture me. 38 wks today.

Iheartpasties · 01/11/2012 11:29

who was it that was going to name their baby pumpkin? obs not izzy!! arf.

kirrinIsland · 01/11/2012 11:33

Pasties It was Tits lol.

Congratulations Izzy That was rather sneaky of you Grin Hope you get plenty of snuggles and rest x

I've mopped my ceiling, my walls, my floors, bleached the tops then totally de-moulded the bathroom with the mould spray and given the bathroom a general deep scrub, done a wash, hung it out (WHY?Confused) and stuck another one on. Just doing a shopping list ready for a massive trek around town after 3pm (free parking) and I might paint the kitchen walls and ceiling in the meantime. I'm kicking this pregnancies arse Grin

ShellyBobbs · 01/11/2012 11:40

Oh and welcome glenda Grin

FatimaLovesBread · 01/11/2012 11:50

Wow Shelly you are really on it today! I'm going to use you as inspiration and go upstairs to iron
