empress I've been thinking the exact same thing about my vanishing bump. I swear some days, especially by early evening I look full term but then other days hardly anything appears to be there. When I wake up in the morning, my stomach seems flat. I get bump envy when I see heavily pregnant ladies! Hope your headache shifts soon.

Had my blood tests for downs today at the hospital (don't get the nuchal test here unless you pay private!) and the midwife was lovely and got the little Doppler out to listen to the heartbeat as I told her my DS had kicked me in the stomach mid tantrum frenzy last night. Haven't been contacted by community midwife yet!

Hope everyone else is ok

I had my quad test results today in post (was really fast only last Tuesday they took the blood) my risk is low (one in 50,000) so very happy about that.

I have lots of random weird pains, my rule of thumb is general discomfort pretty much constantly is probably normal as long as its not so bad it stops me doing stuff or I need regular paracetamol.

Midwife this afternoon! My first appointment, I hope I get to hear heartbeat.

empress I also have a disappearing bump, some days DH can't tell me enough how big it looks but then last week when I wasn't well and spent the day lying down in bed it disappeared for a couple of days...

Bonadea I'm having dc1 the midwife told me my placenta is at the front so don't get worried if I don't feel movements for another few weeks yet but I'm convinced last night I could feel movement it felt like my tummy was grumbling but it wasn't because I wasn't hungry!

and I thought I was the only one with crippling stretching pains, sometimes I'm fine for ages and then I'll stand up too quickly or bend down to get something and I get a sharp pain all the way across my stomach, I'm not worried because apparently it's normal but it's really painful Shock I suppose this doesn't get better because the baby is only getting bigger?!

JessieEssex · 29/10/2012 13:15

I'm getting loads of movement now, although this is DC2 so things are pre-stretched! I actually felt a few kicks with my hand last night rather than just internally iyswim, but DH has yet to get lucky. I remember that with DD, as soon as DH approached my tummy to feel a kick, she would stop and lie still. He began to think I was making it all up...

Hello all haven't been around lately not sure why! Just not enough time in the day for sleepy pregnant ladies I guess! Hope everyone is well, I'm gonna head to bed and have a catch up after a really busy morning at work! My feet are killing!

BonaDea · 29/10/2012 14:58

angel - yeah! Best sound in the world, right?

Missmuffet - I first heard it at 15+5 I think. MW went into the big speech about how it was still early to hear it and she might not find it straight away and I shouldn't panic. Then of course she just touched the doppler to my stomach and immediately found it - thumpedy thumpedy thump then DOOF as s/he kicked the doppler. Have fun, you'll enjoy it Grin.

Trishstar · 29/10/2012 15:11

15+6 and just came out of first midwife appt. bit disappointed tbh. I felt it was a very impersonal experience. No mention of trying to find the heartbeat I had to ask!!! And the MW says they don't normally try to find it til 25 weeks. She offered to anyway and I got the whole speech about if she didn't find the HB they won't send me for another scan!!!

I have a Doppler for at home but just wanted the MW to find it too, she did straight away. It took all of 5 seconds!!!!

Had the flu jab too.

Anyways sorry for the moan ladies xxx

angeltattoo · 29/10/2012 16:32

Yay Trishstar!

Missmuffet, she told me that she might not be able to find it, and if ever she can't, she sends ladies straight to the day unit for a scan, just for reassurance...which I thought was great. So depending on where you live, this might be an option? That said, she heard it no problem. Baby was darting about, so she had to chase it a bit, but HB was definitely heard.

And as Bonadea said, it was the best sound ever! i cried

And as above, some days I have a definite bump, other days, nothing!

Nuttyfilly · 29/10/2012 17:11

Hello everyone! I'm 15 weeks and been having a terrible case of restless leg! Thankfully found the cure, bananas,
Hope everyone is ok, I best go get the cows milked be back soon x

Missmuffet28 · 29/10/2012 17:57

Oh what a lovely midwife team it seems you have angeltattoo shame yours wasn't a similar experience trish maybe kick some butt next time you go even though you shouldn't have to x

Well I got in bed had a nap and have woken with the dreaded stinking cold I didn't even see it coming :( I woke with a fever dp came home with tissues and vapour rub which I think is safe to use? Anyone know any different? And he bought me up a cup of tea and some paracetamol which i didn't even get to take before I ran to the toilet to vomit :( I haven't actually vomitted yet during pregnancy so I hope it's not a bug of some sort and just the feverish part of my cold coming out even tho I don't usually get that symptom I'm now waiting for paracetamol to kick in so I can go eat!!

Missmuffet28 · 29/10/2012 18:01

Oh and I'm sure I felt some fluttering going on today I'm not 100% but it felt really different to the normal popping and twitching down there :)

Thanks for the lovely welcome everyone! Sorry about the delay in replying, I don't get on the internet too much.
I currently live in Hackney but we're moving to Walthamstow at end of Nov, looking forward to it but will miss it round here. Need a bigger place though.

Have spent the afternoon/evening so far feeling thoroughly sick. Not happy. 17 weeks today, when will the bloody nausea leeeeave?!

Got to have a nice 'telling a close friend who lives far away' phone conversation though, and she always makes me laugh. She was trying to get me to call the baby Gary, her favourite comedy name.

I totally get disappearing bump. Now you see it, now it just looks like I had a few too many cakes (which I did).

I admire anyone who can eat healthily. Although I have craved an apple a day since quite early one, which is unusual for me. Sadly it will NOT keep the doctor away!

tattooedapril87 · 29/10/2012 21:13

hey ladies- what lotions and potions are you rubbing into belly to help prevent stretch marks?

at mo im using palmers stretch mark cream twice a day and bio oil once a day but im open to other suggestions if anyone knows of a secret miracle worker?!

FlaminNoraImPregnantPanda · 29/10/2012 21:33

Nothing, not worried about stretch marks at all. They're like badges of honour.

Missmuffet28 · 29/10/2012 21:39

I didn't use anything last time round but didnt have a very big bump and didnt get any stretch marks on my tummy except one little one that stems from my belly button piercing, my boobs, bum and top of thighs however didnt escape, as my bump is already
Had to stop half way they run and vomit :(
Getting big so will def use something this time round probably start with palmers maybe some bio oil if it gets tight, I know bio oil works very well for scars if you are religious not sure on preventing them tho? X

Bambino29 · 29/10/2012 22:13

I'm using Mama Bee's Belly Butter which is lovely, although a dermatologist friend said there's pretty much nothing you can do to prevent stretch marks as it's all in the genes.

Have my 16 week m/w appointment on Wednesday - no idea what to expect. Only reason I hav an appointment is because I'd seen you all talk about yours so rang my surgery! Did you have to take any samples or anything? What actually happened at the appointment? Hoping they will let me hear hb as sounds exciting!

lutrinae - totally understand about the not being able to eat healthily thing - am forcing down as much fruit & veg as I can stomach but the only things which don't make me nauseus are very bland carb-loaded things like crisps or bread!

usernamegoeshere · 29/10/2012 22:22

I had booking in + 16 weeks appt in one. I got to hear the heartbeat which I was pleased about.

I have to see consultant as I had an operation on my back a few years ago, but apparently that just routine & it will be one off. Otherwise not seeing midwife again till 28 weeks now.

Tattoo I'm not using anything yet, but I heard nice things about Burts Bees one.

bunnygirl80 · 30/10/2012 01:38

tattoo I used body shop Shea butter on my belly when I was pg with DS and I didn't get a single stretch mark. I was surprised as I have them on my hips from when I hit puberty, and as they're meant to be genetic I just assumed I'd get them. Don't know if it was the body lotion or just luck that saved me though!

LikeCandy · 30/10/2012 07:16

tattoo everything I've read suggested stretch marks are genetic, no amount of moisturising will prevent them!
Saying that I am using a belly oil (when I remember!) but crossing my fingers that the above is true as my Mum has none after 2 kids!

aufaniae · 30/10/2012 07:24

lutrinae I was in hackney just yesterday! (visiting my patents). Are you going to the Homerton? While I was pregnant I felt very well looked after by them. They picked up on a problem I have a feeling other places might have missed (just a hunch mind, but they were very thorough.)

BonaDea I am having hip problems too. Do yours hurt if you walk too much? I'm going to see the Dr.

aufaniae · 30/10/2012 07:27

I meant the last time I was pregnant, just in case that wasn't clear!

leluella · 30/10/2012 08:48

Tattoo I've started using Palmer belly butter which is lovely and only about £5, as a few people have said I think whether you get stretch marks are not is all in the genes but I think using a little pit of something can only help!

P'eed off that my morning sickness has returned this morning. The last 5 weeks have been bliss - no sickness and loads of energy then last night exhausted and sick this morning..hope its onlt a temporary thing.

Lutrinae I lived in Hackney for three years before moving to Walthamstow because we couldn't afford to buy in Hackney. I loved the 'Stow and still miss it, great places to eat on Orford Road and the Castle is a great pub and baby friendly. We only moved as we decided to be closer to family.

Just had my 16 week appointmrnt, it only lasted 10 mins but I can't complain as I got to hear a heart beat, so, so happy Grin

I'd been having a freak out as I haven't had any symptomms really and tiredness has lifted a bit so it feels amazing to know that everything is still ok.

Thanks for the lotion advice I'm goimg to stock up.
